Izuku's POV

Short sharp breaths sounded in the forest around him. His team stood around him, their eyes were unsure. Fourteen other students had formed a semi-circle around them.

Izuku had not pulled his own knife from his sheath. Not yet. He wanted to see what they would do. It had not taken them anytime at all to find him. Many of them were angry at his actions. They had not enjoyed being thrown into the air. Too bad this would not be the last time he did so.

Expecting the unexpected was good training. Who knew it might save their lives one day. Everything he would do to these kids had a reason behind it. While they won't appreciate it now when instincts kicked in during battle they would. Probably with a choice words about it.

Finally the reverie was broken by a tall light haired boy rushing forward. His knife swung wide aiming for Izuku's neck and face. Good it seemed at least one person had taken his words to heart. If they weren't prepared to kill him they wouldn't get far in their chosen profession.

Izuku used the minimum required movements to avoid the blade. The light haired boy Ayanami if he remembered correctly had an extremely powerful quirk. One he refused to use during the entrance exams due to its volatile nature.

Allowing the boy to get close he continued to dodge around the strikes. In Ayanami's violet eyes he could see the other's frustration. The only time that Izuku used his hands was to light push away the knife. His hands were protected from the blade by the gloves he wore. They were light weight but tear and stab resistant. His actual combat gloves were lined with kevlar.

The air shifted as the kid attacked him again. Stepping back he found a sword cutting through the air where he had been before. Ducking low he avoided the second blade anticipating his moves.

Izuku had to bring his hands up to protect his face as someone aimed a kick at his chin. Good they were beginning to attack together and coordinate. He was beginning to wonder if they would be able to pull it off. It seemed he worried to much. Time to step up the pace a little and go on the attack.

Returning to his full height he assessed the three around him. Ayanami, Hyuuga, and Hayate. They were doing well, better than he thought they would. It just meant he would have to push them harder.

As Ayanami went at him again Izuku grabbed his arm at two places. One hand wrapped around the wrist twisting it painfully counterclockwise. The other went to the elbow. Enough pressure to the wrist caused it to crack and the boy to scream.

He tried to break Izuku's hold but the smaller boy pulled him off balance. Using his leverage he kept the taller boy stumbling forward. Then he tripped over Izuku's outstretched leg. Once the other was down Izuku released him.

Hyuuga and Hayate were coming at him trying to draw him away from their injured companion. Izuku finally drew his knife from his sheath then lunged at Hayate. Out of the two swordsman he was the more skilled.

Hyuuga aided Ayanami to his feet a moment later as Izuku and Hayate were exchanging blows. Sparks danced across the ground where steel clashed against steel. Sweat was beginning to drip down the brown haired boy's face. He wasn't used to having someone last more than a few seconds. That meant he would need to add endurance training to their regimen.

There was a flicker of something in Hayate's eyes as he looked over the greenette's shoulder. Izuku pushed himself free of their lock and jumped back. Not a second to soon as Yusei Kurusu rushed at where he had been. His hand was out stretched reaching for any bare skin he could grab.

It was a good thing Izuku had caught the flicker in Hayate's eyes. Yusei's quirk was known as Luck. Through physical contact he could steal someone good luck. It was nonrestrictive and passive. From what he had read leaving someone with only bad luck could kill them.

Was Yusei intending to kill him? If so he would have to give the boy accommodation. Instilling the ability to make someone bleed and kill was not easy. Anyone with a conscience struggled with it. Once upon time Izuku had too but he lost his conscience in the war.

Izuku took a step back allowing himself to draw deep breaths in and observe the field of battle. Four students were sitting alone on the ground around a tree. Their eyes were glazed. Shinsou seemed to have them under his quirk.

There was in fighting amongst the teams now. They were trying to prove themselves and had lost sight of the goal. The goal of which was to bring down Izuku. Discipline was another thing he would have to add. Obviously this group didn't have any.

Not that Century Team 12 had any either. He mused with half a smile quirking at the sides of his lips. No if he and his men within Medusa had even an ounce of discipline they would not have made Alex's life as much of a hell as it was. But still they got the job done when no one else would.

In his distraction Ayanami was able to get close. Izuku moved his head just in time so that the other's knife just barely scraped his cheek. It was enough however to draw blood. Those close enough to see the red liquid start dripping down his face froze. Their faces went green and looked to each other unsure of what to do.

Then the alarm went off announcing the end of the hour. All eyes went to him most of the students were out of breath. And they like the ones who saw the blood first turned green.

Izuku said sheathing his knife, "Not the worst I've worked with but could be better. You were told to work together but in the end you fought amongst yourselves for power. If all of you had come at me there would have been no way for me to defeat you all."

Heads bowed in shame at his words. They knew he was right. Soldier or not there was no way one person could take on all of them at once.

Then he continued, "Follow me to get out of the forest. Know this is the only time I'll lead you out. Either remember it or risk getting lost."

There were muffled, "Yes, sir," before they did as they were told.

Conklin's POV

He wasn't sure what Izuku saw in these kids. All he could see was wasted energy in them. It was worse than the kids who went to a short boot camp before the war. None of them knew what they were getting into. They were too naive even after seeing blood drawn. Could this program really become what they needed? If he was honest with himself and Izuku he doubted it.

Alex was unable to voice his opinions on the matter though. Abbott's orders had been very specific about what this program was supposed to do. At least they weren't recruiting kids for the other programs. That was something he would not be able to hold his tongue against.

As one of the top handlers in CIRO he had a clearance that would allow access that would make directors jealous. He was privy and had a hand in the formation of several upcoming programs.

One program was the Blackbriar program. Not much could be said about it just yet as it was still being fleshed out. From what he understood however it was going to be just like Medusa was. This time however without Delta there. For now.

Alex knew it was only a matter of time before Abbott approached Izuku again. The kid's bleeding heart would land him right back in the arms of the agency. One would have thought his heart would have been hardened by the war. And in a way it had. Still there were certain things that could bring him back. That could pull Delta to the forefront of his mind. Criminals and villains deserved many things for their crimes. He did not believe Delta's punishment was one of them.

Alex still remembered the day that Izu... no Delta had gone out. How he had disobeyed every order and code to save Gordon Webb. The Webb family had been something of an enigma to Alex.

The parents hated anything to do with war and violence. They had been violently opposed to the war and tried to keep their twin boys out of it. However the draft was absolute and both brothers had been able body.

Not many people knew about the second clause of the draft. In fact Alex was sure it was only the Fateless and their families. Those born without soulmark of their own made up with less than 1% of the world. Even if they had quirks they were seen as less than even the quirkless. Alex didn't agree with this but he couldn't change it. So like the quirkless the Fateless were also drafted.

Gordon Webb had a mild intelligence quirk but was Fateless. Jacob Webb was quirkless but had a soulmate. To the horror of both parents their children were forced to become the very thing they hated.

When they had met much less become so close to Delta was unknown. Delta had become unusually attached to Gordon specifically. If it wasn't for the fact that Gordon was Fateless he would have assumed they were soulmates.

Delta's reaction to his kidnapping was only further proof of it. He had killed everyone in the compound and even one of his own men. Jason Bourne a smuggler with a rasheet as thick as the penal code book. Forced into service after his last capture and put under Delta. Until he betrayed Century Team 12 nearly getting the entire group killed. In true Delta fashion the boy only returned with Bourne's tags. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Most people would have thought that there was no way Abbott would go after such a wounded soldier. That Echo or any of the other members of Medusa would be a better fit. That was whrfe they were wrong. No one was better suited to hunt Carlos the Jackal than Delta.

Which was why Treadstone 71 as a 4-0 operation was in talks. It was unlikely any decision would be made before middle of second semester. Alex knew though. He knew that Abbott would only settle for Izuku. It would be up to Izuku if he took the position.
