Ch.15: A Cold Chase

Unaware of what happened at the hospital, back at the mansion, both Fethry and Launchpad were still searching for clues on what had happened earlier before. It was very difficult since the place was a wreck, but that didn't downplay their determination as they tried diligently to locate any piece of evidence that they could find.

Fethry had already concluded in his mind that whatever had attacked the mansion was definitely supernatural. An answer made even more concrete given the composition left from the claw marks that stained the floors and walls.

Strangely, the trained T.N.T. agent felt a vague sense of familiarity with these numerous markings. A forgotten memory was poking on just the edges of his brain, but was to soft to make a complete dent in this current point of time.

Launchpad hadn't really found anything to telling either. DW was usually the better detective. And even though he had received some hard, on-the-field training with the superhero, he still kind of wished that the masked mallard could have joined him here, and help figure out just what was happening to the McDucks.

"Well" Launchpad finally said to Fethry " I don't know what else we can do here. I just hope Ms. Beakley is alright at that hospital. Man, Scrooge is definitely going to be extremely mad after this."

"I think he already is," Fethry agreed, when a sudden noise from his pocket decided to ring out loud.

Picking up his phone, Fethry answered it to hear the sound of his Uncle Scrooge's voice screaming frantically on the other end. The disturbed look on his face fell into a deeper frown.

"What's wrong?" asked Launchpad, looking at Fethry concerned.

"Something happened at the hospital" said Fethry " The Duck Avenger attacked Ms. Beakly. We need to go, now!"

A great sigh of relief escaped from Donald Duck's beak as soon as he made it back to the safety of Ducklair Tower and his friend One. Frustration burned in his veins like an icy wind, enraged at what had happened a few moments before.

Not only did it seem like he had attacked Ms. Beakly, but now his family was hunting for him, and that supernatural phenomenon had occurred once more.

"What is going on?" Donald thought, scrolling through all of the clues in his head, searching for any possible lead.

Even One was a little befuddled, and that did not happen to the super-intelligent A.I. computer often.

The symbol was still a mystery, as were the creatures that seemed to follow the Avenger and his family's every move. Whoever was working behind this scheme, their main goal seemed to be drawing the Duck Avenger out into the open, and then framing the hero for heinous and brutal crimes. There was some crazy logic behind that theory but…

"Why me? Why me?" said Donald "This crazy scenario doesn't fit anyone else's MO."

"Think about the information you gleamed from the police officer" suggested One " Did he mention anything intriguing before he passed out that could offer some sort of a clue?"

Donald thought about it, and recalled that the cop did mention something about a statue given to them by Glomgold. Scrooge's number one rival, what roll did he have to play in this sinister mess?

There was only one way to find out. Break into Glomgold Industries and finally uncover the truth about these mysterious beasts. Dark forces or no, hated by his family or no. You mess with Donald or the any of the people he loves, this mallard swears he'll do whatever it takes to bring you down.
