Ch.15: Kavaxas's Reign

"Oh, this just keeps getting better and better," Leo felt Raphael comment in his mind, looking up at the new monster who had rose up just minutes after the Oni had fell.

Was there a curse on their family or something? No matter what they did, something evil or demonic always seemed to be just around the corner.

"The ol' turtle luck running true to form,"

Leo sighed, shaking his head. How much he wished they had Raphael here with them right now.

They were all tired, hurt, and had suffered through so much during just the past few days. The loss of their sister, the guilt of turning against a brother, an alien invasion, and Shredder's dastardly plans.

"Focus Leonardo," Leo said to himself, and glared, calculating what to do with the new enemy at hand.

Grinning viciously from above, Kavaxas glared down, silently judging the small resistant force lined up against him. Humans and a small group of mutant freaks, no match at all for the unholy might of dragon kind.

Master Splinter was worried. Even though, he himself, had just barely recovered from an exhausting fight with the Shredder, he leaped over to his sons knowing that them and their allies were terribly exhausted as well.

Leo shared a knowing look with his sensei, noting that they were both on the same page. He brandished his swords, ready for another fight. Hell was about to go down.

"Die!" shouted Kavaxas, sending massive balls of fire raining down, causing both humans and mutants to scatter in an attempt to protect their own lives.

While scattered, Slash ended up with an unexpected surprise as Kavaxas speedily swooped down his level and clawed at the large turtle, sending him sprawling backwards with incredible force.

"Slash!" Mikey shouted out, while Rockwell and April focused to catch the opposing fireballs with their minds.

Still breathing, but clearly knocked out, Slash's body tumbled to the ground unconscious while the two telepaths redirected the fireballs towards Kavaxas, hoping to damage the dragon instead. It didn't work. Being a dragon meant that Kavaxas had natural immunity to flames. Pity that mortals seemed so stupid to forget that.

They were also stupid to keep up their pointless attacks.

Seconds after the fireball failure, exploding pucks, chunks of old rubble, and a barrage of well-ordinated, lethal-aimed martial arts made their ways towards Kavaxas, but the dragon just laughed and countered all their efforts, managing to dodge and evade them all.

"Is this really the best you can do?" said Kavaxas " Let me show you all what real power is like,"

With that said, Kavaxas's body glowed red and circle of black flames shot out, spreading in all directions, with a green edge that instantly burned and vaporized anything they touched.

"Dodge!" shouted Splinter, warning everyone to jump away.

All followed his advice, but, this was only a distraction as Kavaxas flew up and speeded away, determined to take down the two telepaths next. Before April or Rockwell could focus enough to counter, Kavaxas sliced down with his claws, seriously injuring both of the telepaths and knocking them out cold.

"April!" shouted Casey and Don, immediately running towards the young girl's side.

"We need help," thought Leo, but as he looked around, he knew the only hope of aid was falling.

After all of their pains and struggles this is finally where it ends, stuck in a hopeless battle, where they would inevitably die, never to be heard or spoken about again.

"Don't give up" suddenly spoke out a female voice, echoing out through Leonardo's head. " Help is coming. With them, you will be able to stop this war."

"Who…?" spoke Leo.

But, before the blue-masked turtle could even finish to ask, a bright, white light suddenly encased the area, before it toned down to reveal two, very familiar forms. Everyone still standing, with the exception of Kavaxas, stood open-mouthed, frozen, paralyzed with shock.

Leonardo blinked and blinked again, praying that it wasn't a trick and doubting hopefully with his eyes.

There now, in front of them, standing between them and Kavaxas, was Karai drawn in a battle stance, with Raphael standing ready with his sai. Both lost siblings had returned again, and now they were ready to fight Kavaxas and defend their family, finally, once and for all, to bring evil down.
