Salvatore Boarding House
Damon Salvatore was already starting to annoy him and they technically hadn't even met yet. Killing him now would work against him and his brother's plans. Alaric/Klaus took his time approaching the front door before he could hear four heartbeats inside the Boarding House: two vampires, most probably the Salvatore brothers. The other two were human. He smiled when recognized the heartbeat he'd memorized during their class together.
He was going in blind, not that he'd be harmed, but other than the being summoned to the boarding school for an emergency meeting with the Mystic Falls Gang as Katerina had dubbed them. So he waited, listening to the discussion going on inside.
"So we go to the dance, we find him," Damon said with, in Klaus's opinion, way too much bravado for one's health. Especially for a young vampire that hadn't gotten past his second century.
"Really? How are we going to do that? We don't even know what he looks like," his former wingman answered. He'd hoped that they would encounter each other again. There had been a small chance that his father would've killed the promising ripper. In his exceedingly long life, he had to meet a few Rippers like Stefan Salvatore. But the Ripper of Monterey was in a class of his own. It had been a surprise to learn that he'd been the one to save Elena from certain death and was her current boyfriend.
"Something tells me he's not going to be sixteen and pimply." Damon quipped, and even Klaus had to smile at his humor.
"He could be anywhere at any time. He compelled somebody at school," Stefan said. It was true he'd compelled the office staff and principal to ignore his absence. And he'd found the annoying teenage girl in his class Debra, or was it Donnie, he could care less what her name was, and on a whim compelled her to deliver a message to Elena. He couldn't resist.
"I guess it's not as safe as you guys thought, huh?" Stefan questioned.
He didn't wait to hear the response. He'd wasted enough time already, so instead he knocked on the front door before opening it and walking inside. Putting on a sheepish expression, he sought out the main room. One of the coolest points of possessing a body was that it gave him free access to any building that he hadn't been invited inside. He'd learned that from a witch centuries ago, but to keep it a secret he'd killed the woman to keep it from spreading. Very few of his opponents were even aware it was an option for him.
He did his best to avoid commenting on the tacky decor as he strolled into the main room, eying the assembled group. He managed not to linger too long on either his former wingman or his Doppelgänger.
"There you are." Damon exclaimed, holding a glass tumbler partially raised to his lips.
"Sorry I'm late. I got caught up with something. What'd I miss?"
"Well, the brilliant plan of putting this place in Elena's name only works if she stays here instead of traipsing off to school." Damon growled.
"Damon-"
"No Elena, between Stefan, Vampire Barbie, and me, it's a piece of cake. We'll just compel everyone at school not to think twice about you missing school. But what do you do instead? You leave the safe haven we've made for you and surprise! Guess who is sending you little love notes? Klaus! Are you trying to get yourself killed or are you just stupid?"
"Damon! That's not fair!" Elena answered. Alaric/Klaus suddenly had an urge to rip Damon's heart from his chest. No one talks to his Doppelgänger like that and if she is who, he thinks she is doubly so.
Damon didn't respond instead he finished his drink and looked pointedly at Alaric/Klaus, his put down of Elena forgotten. "Hey, I need you to put me down as a chaperone at the dance tonight. Klaus made his first move. The gall of the guy compelling a girl to ask if Elena was going to the dance."
Alaric/Klaus nods his head at Damon's suggestion. This might give him and his brother a chance to get Elena away from these morons.
"Okay, so we find him and then what, hmm? What's our plan of attack?" Elena asked, startling Alaric/Klaus to peer at her. She definitely has the Petrova fire, he thought. But his attention was pulled back to reality when the only other person present who before now had remained silent spoke, and her blunt statement sent a chill up his spine.
"Me. I'm the plan. He has no idea how much power I can channel. If you can find him, I can kill him," Bonnie stated defiantly, her eyes sweeping the room. Alaric/Klaus' heart almost stopped when her eyes seemed to linger too long on him. Could she know? She is a witch after all, but didn't Katerina say her powers were gone?
"That's not going to be that easy. I mean, he is the biggest, baddest vampire around." Alaric/Klaus tried to argue.
"Alaric has a point. I mean, what if he..." Damon started but Alaric/Klaus watched in mild trepidation. As if to prove a point the impulsive vampire rushed toward the young witch and was propelled through the air by an unseen force before slamming his body into a bookcase on the opposite side of the room. Everyone, including Alaric/Klaus, stood in stunned silence as Bonnie turned to smile at them all. And the ancient vampire felt an icy ball form in his gut. This would be a problem.
"Well, I was impressed." Stefan said, breaking the silence.
"It doesn't matter if he's an Original. I can take down anyone who comes at me. I can kill him, Elena. I know I can." Bonnie stated firmly.
Alaric's Residence
Feeling agitated, Alaric/Klaus slammed the door behind him. He was somewhat mollified when he found Katerina still in the chair he had compelled her to sit in with a knife in hand. He felt his mood lighten more when he saw and caught the scent of her blood staining her thigh.
"Ah, you're right. This witch is all juiced up and aiming to kill," he addressed her, tossing the teacher's jacket on to the couch.
"That's terrible," Katerina deadpanned.
In response, his heated eyes darted from her terror-filled face to the knife resting in her hand then back and having got the message, she plunged the blade all the way to the hilt in her thigh once more. His smile deepened when he finally addressed his favorite warlock standing in the kitchen.
"We're gonna have to kill her, Maddox."
"I really don't think that will be necessary brother and besides, Bonnie Bennett is on Elena's list," Elijah said as he stepped out of the Master bedroom now wearing the replacement outfit Maddox had brought with him upon his return, as Klaus had ordered.
It felt good that his orders were being fulfilled. It annoyed him that his own brother contradicted him, but maybe he had a point. Klaus wasn't so sure yet. He grimaced at having to find clothing more appropriate to the theme of the decades dance both he and his brother would be attending. Well, mainly himself, Klaus noted absently. But more specifically, his brother's attendance would hopefully go unnoticed till after they grabbed Elena Gilbert.
Nodding to his brother, he opened a drawer in search of an outfit, grumbling as he pawed through the history teacher's clothing.
"Do you think this Alaric guy has anything vintage?" he asked rhetorically, pulling out shirts when he noticed that the drawer should be much deeper than it appeared. Pulling up a false bottom, he tossed the top to the side and pulled out a very compact looking crossbow that also happened to be loaded with a lethal looking wooden stake. And that wasn't the only weapon, either.
"Crossbows, wooden bullets and automatics? Who is this guy, again?" Alaric/Klaus asked the group, feeling a little dumbfounded. First the possibility that Elena might be Tatia and now this.
"He's the local vampire hunter," Katerina sighed before stabbing her leg once more. Alaric/Klaus pointedly ignored the look his older brother was giving him.
"Ahh. Well, that explains the clothing."
He watched with some amusement as his brother pulled out a liquor bottle and poured two tumblers of amber liquid. Elijah held out a glass for his brother.
"All I could find. Mister Saltzman likes his bourbon," Elijah stated solemnly as his brother took it from his offered hand.
"I knew there was something about him I liked," Alaric/Klaus smirked before downing a mouthful of the amber liquid. Looking at the label, he had to grudgingly give it to the history teacher, he did know his bourbon. Feeling his phone vibrate, he pulled it out and smiled, seeing the contact name.
"Hello love. What do you have for me?" He purred. He knew both his brother and Katerina could hear, but his warlock couldn't, so almost as an afterthought he put Greta on speaker phone.
"I did find that I have a spell that will do as you desire, Sire. But I will need her and the other Doppelgänger to channel from. The thing about the spell is it is a hit or miss," Greta's voice echoed from wherever she was at the moment.
"Meaning?" Klaus suppressed a smile as he watched Katerina look up, a worried expression marring her features.
"Meaning that if the other soul is present in the host body, then the spell will work; both souls will be merged permanently and if not, it simply won't work. You should know that she will need to be conscious for the duration of the spell and it will be quite painful for the intended host. Sorry, Sire, it can't be helped, but in either case, it leaves no lasting mark. Shall I collect all the ingredients for the spell?"
Klaus looked over at his brother, who at first doesn't respond, but eventually he nodded his head in agreement.
"Yes Greta, collect what you need and while you're at it I think this body is about to become irrelevant so collect my body for me."
"As you wish, love, I'll bring them there as soon as I can."
"Niklaus, I think we should move locations. I have a place we can go that will be better suited for our needs," Elijah added loud enough for Greta to hear on her end. Wordlessly, he handed his phone over to his brother so he could give his witch the address. Turning back to the armoire, he started looking for a decent costume.
"What does she mean by souls and merging them together permanently?" Katerina gulped. It took a moment for him to remember she couldn't have heard his earlier discussion with his brother because of the burning sage. Smiling evilly at her, he wanted to see her sweat, so he simply tells her it's a surprise and leaves it at that. The horrified look she now wore was simply too priceless. He briefly considered painting it for future reference, tossing that notion away- he will have a long time to think how best to capture visage.
