Selina tapped her fingers nervously against the leather sofa. She sat in the lobby of one of Gotham's exquisite hotels. Today was the day she would meet the child she gave up for adoption. It was when she received the call that morning she finally was able to learn the gender of her child.

Not knowing the gender was a decision she was adamant about so she wouldn't feel so painful to give the baby up. She knew the adoptive family had one child already and flew in for the chance of another. She did not regret her decision for she knew that Gotham was a dangerous place to raise a child, more so if people were to find out who the parents were. It was a shock to hear the baby she gave up 15 years ago would someday return to her because of his family deaths. Daniel Fenton does not need a mother. He had one who cared for and loved him when she could not.

"Ms. Kyle?" 'Ah, the social worker.'

Standing up to greet her in return, "Yes, it's nice to finally meet you."

"Daniel is waiting for you in the conference room. "

"Right." She straightened her back and walked with confidence she did not have towards the room. She took a deep breath and pushed open the doors. Inside was a teenage boy writing harshly in a journal. His black hair was messy, and his head turned towards the sound of the door. His hand stopped moving and blue eyes stared straight at her. 'Its Bruce's eyes' she thought, though the second glance showed the eye shape matched hers.

She continued to walk and took the seat across from him. She opened her mouth to speak,

" I-"

"Can we go?" Danny closed his journal and grabbed his duffle bag off the floor.

Selina blinked in response, "Do you not want to talk?"

"I don't care why you gave me up, and I don't want you as a mother. I had a mom. She was great. Brilliant, strong, loving and until the end she helped save my life. I chose to go with you because there wasn't another option." Danny began to walk towards the door until -

"I didn't give you up because of regret." Selina turned towards Danny looking straight into his eyes to convey her sincerity.

"I didn't give you up because of trauma, I didn't give you up because my future was more important than yours, I didn't give you up because I didn't want to be a mother, God, I love you so much it was the most painful choice I made." Selina walked towards Danny stopping a foot away from him. Her face expressed empathy and her eyes showed her genuineness, Danny's eyes widen at the statement.

"I gave you up because I knew the family you were going to would have cherished you and love you as one of their own. And I am so thankful towards them because though I see the pain on your face from their deaths I know there is no pain without great love."

At this point, tears began to spill from his blue eyes, and Selina wrapped her arms around him in comfort.

"I don't want to replace your family, I wouldn't dare. I don't know what it feels like and I never will, but I am here to support and help you in any way I can."

At this point sobs of grief shook his body, the bottle of anguish popped open and all the emotions he hid were displayed. Selina only tightens her arms in comfort.

…..

"So,?" Tucker's voice came across the Fenton phone.

"Danny you don't have to tell us, but if she's awful we are ready to kidnap you and-"

"Yeah! You can live in Sam's basement and we are willing to sneak-"

"Quit interrupting me, Tucker!" Sam shouted back.

The corner of Danny's lips tilted up, "Guys, guys, she's... actually not that bad. She's giving me space and she's really nice."

"Hmm" Tucker response was soon filled with background noises of a keyboard.

"That's great, Danny. I know why you can't stay here but that doesn't mean we can't head over there. My parents were invited to a gala at Gotham in two months. I usually scheme my way out of it but this time I told them I am willing to go."

"Gasp- you are wearing a dress! Danny, you have to send me a photo of Sam- OUCH!"

Danny smiled at their antics, "You deserve it, Tucker, you know how Sam is and Yeah, I think Selina would be willing to take me wherever when you arrive Sam."

"Oh WOW!" Tucker voice dripped in awe.

"What Tucker?"

"You didn't tell me she was a bombshell! " Tucker whined, "Sam let me go with you!-ACK!" Sam punched Tucker

"Really, Tucker ?! That's Danny birth mom!"

"Hey! She might have some hot friends too! Danny, you have to introduce me to them if she does."

Danny laughed which sent Tucker and Sam into silence. "Thanks, guys, I really needed that."

"We're here for you bud" Tucker replied seriously, then continued lightheartedly, "Also I applied for the Wayne Tech internship in the summer. It's all summer long baby, and the love of my life will be there, the new, beautiful technology W5- XH2!"

A facepalm could be heard from the other side of the phone. Danny sighed, "I don't need to know"

"-And when I'm free we could hang out and kick Sam's ass on the newest Doom expansion pack since it will be released a week into summer."

"Hah, you wish," muttered Sam

"What do you say, Danny? Pizza, video games, and being my wingman this summer sound great to you?"

"Wingman?" An eyebrow raised in response, Danny questioned: "I thought you have a date with W5-q, no, W5-whatever?"

"Hey, you know I'm such a ladies man right?"

"Okay! That enough from you Tucker. Well, Danny, I'm glad that you are okay over there. Be careful I've heard it's a dangerous city, - just,... just watch yourself okay?"

"Aw Sam, you know Danny got this!"

"Yeah Sam, I can take care of myself"

"I still worry, it's not a town like here but a city sometimes controlled by the criminally insane- "

"Dude, Danny, you have to take a picture of Batman. Oh! Or-"

"Or nothing Tucker! Don't encourage him to get into trouble."

Danny scoff," You know Sam that I never really look for trouble."

"We will send some of the Fenton techs in small packages, that's what me and Tucker are doing right now, we sent the tools first. They should be coming soon."

"Thanks, gu-YAWN, guys"

"Ah, I forgot there's a time difference, we'll let you rest"

"Night, Danny"

"Night Guys". Beep. The call ended. He flopped back on his bed. The room Selina gave him was small but apparently big for a city like Gotham. The sky was cast by clouds and pollution, much different from home were at least he could see the stars. His eyes closed and he laid there waiting for sleep to come.
