Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.
1 Corinthians 10:24
Seek good for others. Seek means to actively look for. We are to seek for opportunities to do good for our neighbor. Not just keep an eye out for opportunities, or just when it happens to come to our mind, but purposefully search for times to help others. To have it be on your mind constantly. To go out of our way to do good for our neighbors.
By neighbor, it doesn't mean your next door neighbor. It means every single person around you. Friends, family, random people on the street, everyone you come into contact with. Look for chances to help them, to do them a favor, to give them something good. This may mean not doing what we want, which is exactly what we should do. We may be forced to delay or completely lay aside our wishes, so that we can look out for the well-being of others, but that's okay, because we're doing God's will. And when we do God's will, nothing else matters.
If we are living in this, not a day should go by that we don't seek to help others. Every second of every day, we should think, "How can I lay aside my own wishes and benefit others?" Constantly, we need to be thinking, "What would Jesus do?" The anser is, He would lay aside his interests in the interests of others. If we ask that question always, we will find ourselves a lot less selfish, and a lot more loving toward others.
