After a rather suspiciously tense reunion with Mako, we headed over to visit this guy Varrick in the jail cell that he'd been locked inside, though it didn't exactly look like a jail cell. More like a five star solitary confinement hotel. Bolin and Asami had given me the rundown on this guy but when they told me that he was rather eccentric, I still was not prepared for…well…Varrick. "Guys, hey! What do you think? Varrick Industries built this prison and I had this cell made special. I had a feeling I'd end up here one day." He declared flamboyantly before snapping his fingers together sharply. "Zhu Li, come on! We got guests, whip up a pot of that green tea I love."

"Yes, sir."

"Okay wait a second, why do you have your assistant in jail with you? And how come you get treated to all this?! Did you pay off all the guards or just the ones who matter?" I demanded to know, grasping onto the jail bars and gave them a rattle, half expecting them to just break away in my hands as a means for Varrick to escape whenever he felt like it.

"Of course Zhu Li is with me. I don't go anywhere without my assistant. Do you?" I noted silently how he avoided answering the second half of my question. Just how rich was this guy?

"We're not interested in your tea, and this isn't a friendly visit." Mako informed my supposed fellow southern water tribe clansman.

"Don't tell me you guys are still mad about everything that happened. I did some good things too. Korra, who warned you about Unalaq? I did. Bolin, who got you into the movers? I did. Asami, who saved your company? I did. Mako, who got you thrown in jail? I did! Oh, yeah, I guess that was a bad thing."

"Yeah, no kidding! Listen up, you are a few dumb words away from getting my fist in your face, so tell us what we need to know or so help me I shall break all those perfect little teeth of yours! Why did you try to kidnap the president and why did you steal all of Asami's stuff?" I demanded however Varrick only continued to clean them with a toothpick as Zhu Li brought his tea over. In exasperation I smacked my head against the bars, not caring for the pain.

"I wasn't going to hurt the president. I just needed to start a war. Well, a bigger war." Well that clears everything up wonderfully. Seriously? Does this guy even understand that people are going to die in this game he's playing?

"Well, we're gonna end it. Where's all the stuff you stole from Asami?" Bolin questioned, making Varrick looked up at us like we were idiots and should have known better.

"The Future Industries stuff? It's on my battleship."

"You have a battleship?" Korra spluttered and I too was slightly surprised. Maybe I shouldn't underestimate just how rich this guy is because I'm guessing a battleship is not something cheap.

"Of course I do! I bought the first one they made, named her the Zhu Li, because they're both cold, heartless war machines." Varrick explained. Not exactly the nicest way to describe your assistant but there you go. "Look, I am truly sorry for the mess I caused. Let me make it up to you, take Zhu Li." He offered whilst taking a sip of his tea, though when his assistant gave him a quick look he swiftly clarified. "My battleship, it's yours and everything on it."

"Though technically everything on it is already Asami's." I muttered under my breath as I stepped away from the bars, not trusting myself to stay calm. I don't what it is but something about that guy was incredibly vexing. Probably the way he pretended to be a total idiot but was actually a genius. Yeah, that does really piss me off.

"It's not the fleet we were looking for, but it's the next best thing." Korra said with a nod of her head as Bolin punched the air then grabbed all of us to him, grinning broadly.

"Alright! Team Avatar is back in business!"

"Bolin! Too tight, too tight!" I croaked as I practically felt my ribs breaking so Bolin apologetically put us down though we were laughing easily at the antics, all of us feeling all the better for being together again. I'd missed everyone, it was great to be back even though we were dealing with another crisis which kind of made Amon look like a stuffed bunny in comparison. Ugh, the good old days when all I had to worry about was chi blockers. What was the world coming too? "So Asami, I couldn't help but notice a little tension from before. You know, when Korra went running up to Mako and kissed him in front of everyone." I murmured to her as I hung back so that we could talk. "Did I miss something?"

"Well…" Asami sighed deeply, hanging her head a little before lowering her voice also. "Mako and Korra had this big fight just before she left and they broke up, but then Mako and I kind of started to see each other again but now that Korra is back, he hasn't told her about what happened because of her memory loss. I know I have no right to be upset, they were dating after all, it's just…" When Asami heard my knuckles cracking, she looked at me in alarm. "Kanna, are you okay?"

"That two timing son of a…ugh! Men are such morons." I growled darkly, imagining taking Mako by the throat and shaking him until his eyes fell out of his skull. "I'm sorry Asami, this can't be easy for you. I don't really know what to say or any advice that would be helpful so…" Settling on a hug I pulled Asami into me, patting her head a little to try and reassure her. "There, there, it'll all be okay." I was a little awkward about it however my awkwardness seemed to make Asami laugh as she pulled back with giggles and a bright smile.

"It's appreciated Kanna, thanks. I'm glad I have you as a friend right now, I don't really have anyone else I can talk to about this." She told me so I grinned and gave her a thumb's up.

"Hey don't worry, I'll always be around. If you want, I can break the news to Korra myself and make sure she doesn't destroy anything too badly. I'll take the heat for you."

"No, no, that won't be necessary. Besides if it's going to come from anyone, I think it should come from Mako." She reasoned and I agreed that she was right. That Mako, wait until I get him alone that stupid jerk, he can't just keep on jumping between Korra and Asami like this, it is not fair on either of them. Make up your damn mind already you moron! "Come on, we'd better hurry to Varrick's ship. The faster we get to the South Pole, the sooner we can bring Unalaq to justice."

"Hm. I like the sound of that." I agreed with a firm nod of my head so together we hurried after the others. The ship itself was very impressive, however I spent most of the journey with my mother and Jinora, the both of us using our healing abilities to keep her energy flowing though it was not looking good. Pema had cried as Tenzin carried her away so I had given a personal promise that I would bring Jinora back and keep her safe. I was already trying to figure out a way to get into the spirit world without the portal in case we can't get to it, though for a water bender it's probably going to be a lot more difficult, though there are records of it being managed before though rarely.

"She's growing weaker, I don't know how much longer we can sustain her like this." Mom said to me as she wiped the sweat from her brow, the both of us moving our hands over the water which glowed as it moved around Jinora's small frame. I glanced up to her and noticed how exhausted she looked and it made a small part of me twinge sympathetically.

"H-Hey mom? If you want to take a break then I don't mind carrying on. Maybe you should get something to eat and some rest. If you can find something liquidised like soup then we can give some to Jinora. It should help her body stay alive if we can nourish it properly." I offered and my mom looked up at me in surprise before smiling lovingly.

"Thanks honey, that's sweet of you. I'll be back soon okay? I should probably talk to your uncle as well and let him know what's happening. Are you sure you're okay on your own?" She fussed, reaching across and moving one of my numerous braids aside however I naturally flinched back from her and turned my face aside.

"I'm fine. Just go already, Tenzin is probably pacing around out on the deck making himself seasick." I said. Mom's face looked totally crushed and I did my best to ignore it as she slowly left the room, lingering at the door to look back at me but I focused on my movements, helping Jinora's body to stay alive with the push and pull of energy. Maybe I was being too hard on her. She is my mom after all and I know that she cares about me, but even so I can't forgive her just because she pulls a couple of simpering faces. After all, she did just leave me like it was nothing. Urgh, this is just too frustrating! I feel so conflicted it's like I'm being pulled in two opposite directions.

Shaking my head I focused on Jinora, taking a deep breath as I continued to move the water for a few minutes more before taking a break. "Hey Jinora. Can you hear me on the other side?" I whispered to her softly, thinking that perhaps if she could hear me, she'd be comforted to know that we were all there for her. "It won't be long now. Soon we're going to bring you back and everything will be fine, you'll see. You'll wake up in the South Pole so it might be a little disorientating, but when you wake up I'll snow bend the biggest snow bunny possible just for you, or anything else you want. Okay? So just stay strong a little longer, we're coming to get you." Reaching down I brushed aside her hair as it floated on the water, checking the temperature and heated it up a little so that her body would not become too cold.

When mom came back with Tenzin I left both of them with Jinora, giving Tenzin a little more privacy as he fretted over the life of his daughter. It kind of made me wonder if my mom would go crazy like that if I were in Jinora's position. Strangely, I just couldn't see it. All I could imagine her doing was shrugging her shoulders and saying that I'd be fine, that I could handle it. Sighing softly I head out onto the deck for some fresh air and was rather grateful when the snow started to fall. The cooling flakes rested against my cheeks and lashes, reminding me of my frozen home so I shook out my hair and listened to the clinking of my beads, leaning against the railing.

Soon we'd be back in the South Pole. I was worried about my people and how they were holding up against this invasion of Unalaq's. I swear when I get my hands on him, I'll be freezing his butt in a glacier of ice and dropping him to the bottom of the ocean. If something like that could hold an Avatar for a hundred years then I'd like to see him try and escape that. Maybe Korra could try taking his bending away like what Aang did with Fire Lord Ozai. It was an idea at least, though quite frankly what we needed was a plan.

"Hey, you okay?" Jerking my head up I jolted violently under Mako's hand as he touched my back, startled awake from my thoughts and the sudden flash caused a spray of water to shoot up the side of the ship. "Whoa hey! Take it easy, I didn't mean to scare you."

"Oh, it's just you." Exhaling in relief I turned back to the tides, watching as we gradually sailed into colder waters.

"Gee, no need to sound so thrilled to see me." Mako joked however I wasn't in the mood for joking around, especially not with this guy. "It's been a while since we hung out, how have you been?" He asked but I pointedly ignored him, continuing to watch the water. "Um, Kanna? Are you ignoring me?"

"You're two timing both of my best friends so yes, I am ignoring you." I told him quietly after glancing around to make sure that Korra wasn't nearby. "Why can't you just pick one and settle down? Or better yet, don't date either of them! You're making a real mess of things Mako, I leave you guys alone for a few days and this happens? Jeez! It's like you want Korra to kill you!"

"I know! I know I screwed up but I just can't seem to help it, I have feelings for Korra, strong feelings, but I have feelings about Asami too." Mako groaned, gripping his head in both hands and crashed his back into the side of the ship and sunk to the ground, making me blink at him before softening a little. "How come you haven't told Korra yet? I figured you'd be the first one to tell her."

"Because you idiot, you're my friend too." I reminded him, crouching down and stretched out my hand as he dropped his in surprise, turning to stare at me as I ruffled his hair and gave him a smile. "So no matter how much of a moron I think you are, I still got your back. Besides, you're the one who should tell Korra so don't go dumping that kind of responsibility on me and stop being such a chicken about it." Knuckling his head I then playfully tapped a fist against his cheek, earning a small smile from him as Mako finally relaxed.

"Wow, I didn't expect that. Thanks Kanna. You really are a great friend, you know? You're straight up with people and put them in their places. That's what I like about you." His words were gratefully accepted like with all praise I received, making me smirk as I tossed back my hair with a flare of sarcasm.

"Well of course, it comes from a lifetime experience being best friends with Korra. Now come on get up before you start to freeze to the deck." Grabbing his arm I pulled Mako to his feet, noting how the temperature was dropping quickly and I didn't want him to go into shock so I pulled off my coat and flung it around his shoulders without even thinking about it, so when he protested in confusion I blinked, staring before blushing slightly in embarrassment. "Sorry, I wasn't thinking. Um, you should get inside, it's starting to get cold and your body isn't used to it." I advised him as he looked at me carefully.

"What about you?"

"Me?" Glancing around I gave a shrug before grinning and placing my hands on my hips. "I'll be fine, I was born and bred in this kind of place so it doesn't really affect me at all. Just go inside and check on Bolin for me, please? I have a feeling he's going to get himself into trouble if he tries exploring anymore of this ship." Right on queue a rather high pitched and spine tingling scream sounded from below, making both Mako and I flinch before laughing softly together.

"Yeah you're right. I should probably go check on him." Mako agreed, gripping onto the warm folds of my coat so I nodded my head and turned around to watch the stars start to appear, however without warning I suddenly felt the warm furs of my coat once more. "I'll beat myself up if you catch a cold so you should wear this. Just to be safe. I'll be fine once I'm inside." Mako said to me gently, drawing my coat together in front of me and touching a hand to my shoulder as I stood there frozen in surprise. "Goodnight Kanna."

"Oh er, goodnight Mako. Come and find me if Bolin's injured himself again." I called back after him, frowning slightly as I watched him go before sliding my arms through my coat. What had that all been about? Why did I try to give him my coat? Jeez Kanna, this cold air must be getting to you, you're starting to do weird things. Still, it was nice of Mako to worry about me. I just hope he clears things up with Korra soon otherwise, things are going to get pretty ugly around here.
