A/N: I'll answer a few questions from the reviews. (ps, I've loved the reviews)

The drama is going to be epic. Astoria and Daphne are based off a pair of cousins that were raised basically like sisters that I used to know.

Sorry, there will be no one named Dawn in the story. The name of the story comes from Aurora, the name means goddess of dawn (she's a kid, so I swapped it to fit my purposes). She plays a large role in the story, so I felt it appropriate to use her name's meaning for the story. I like the meaning of names and when picking names that's one of the things I look at. I wasn't intending to explain the meaning of her name in the story, but I suppose I will. Just, not yet ;) You'll see, I've already formulated a plan.

And lastly, the question about the tapestry will be explained in a later chapter.

This is a fluff chapter (and shorter), but it's sweet and establishes some things that I really wanted. More notes can be found at the end!

Chapter 2. Grandchildren Always Welcome

Theo had been right, as he usually was. Aurora's first trip to Diagon Alley had gone smoothly and without notice of the press. It still stung that Hermione hadn't been the one to take her. She missed that she hadn't been the one who got to see her daughter's eyes light up with wonder as she first looked at where her mother was introduced to the wizarding world, out of pure fear that someone would capture a picture of the mother-daughter duo in public and publish a picture of them.

However, as much as Hermione had craved that moment with Aurora, she preferred that her daughter wasn't thrust into the spot light that came with going anywhere in public with her. Especially since she had been living outside the country for the last five years, she knew that as soon as her relocation was exposed that there would be requests for interviews and she'd be pursued relentlessly.

The questions and interest in her personal life would resurface with a vengeance, because of course every time she was offered an interview for the "where are they now" pieces from Witch Weekly or the Daily Prophet she had never responded. It had been easy enough for anyone to attempt to piece together parts of her personal life before she moved, but since she had been gone the most had been speculation as to what she was up to. Rita Skeeter had even suggested a year after her move that Hermione had snapped her wand and left the Wizarding world permanently.

And it was because of these pesky little facts, is how Hermione found herself looking for a home in the muggle world instead of a wizarding community. Hermione was a mother on a mission and that mission was to not have her daughter in the limelight.

"There's all sorts of great choices all over Kent. Ms. Granger, we're going to find the best home for you, I guarantee it!" The overly perky and excited relator, Jody McDonald, had been dragging Hermione, her parents, and (against her much better judgment) Aurora all over Kent for the last three days. When Aurora was overly tired, out of routine, or hungry her bursts of accidental magic increased. Hermione had already cast three Confundus Charm on the relator that morning alone.

One of houses that they had looked at that morning was across the street from a park. While the adults were standing and talking about what they had thought about the home, they had let Aurora take her stuffed dragon to the park to blow off some energy. At home, it wasn't uncommon for Hermione to charm her dragon to fly around and chase her. Aurora had insisted that she wanted to play chase with her dragon, but Hermione had gently let her know that wasn't an option in that moment. Aurora had not argued and skipped off, letting Hermione fall into a false sense of security.

It had only been a few more minutes before Jody started screaming about a demonic possession when Hermione whipped around and saw that Aurora had managed to get her little dragon to not only fly after her, but also was puffing out little clouds of smoke.

The other bursts hadn't been Aurora getting mad that she couldn't play with a neighbor's dog and levitating the fence to let it in. Clearly, Jody saw the fence get ripped from the ground and go flying into the air. The last one had been when Aurora had dropped her water cup and spilled it on a rug, causing her to start crying and break the windows in the room they were viewing.

If constantly having to Confundus the relator wasn't back enough, some of the homes that Jody had decided to show the Grangers had been. Well, they were awful. There was no other way to describe some of the properties that Jody had shown them.

On the first day, Jody had taken them into a nice neighborhood close to a primary school with good ratings. The neighborhood itself had a low crime rate and had praises for being perfect for young families. The house, on the other hand, when walking up the short path Hermione's nose had begun to twitch as a foul smell was radiating off the walls. Against her better judgment, Hermione nodded when Jody when to open the door. She couldn't even step foot into the house, as the smell of cat urine wafted over her, causing Aurora to scream that her eyes were burning. In her distress, Aurora had caught the bush in front of that house on fire (another Confundus for Jody).

The second day wasn't much better. They had found a beautiful home with a circle drive and a three-car garage. The backyard had a beautiful playset that Hermione's mother took Aurora to test out. The foyer was beautiful and with vaulted ceilings Hermione was already getting ideas of being able to bring home the largest Christmas tree. A balcony looking down into the sitting room showed where the home's three bedrooms were. Excited to see the sizes of the rooms, Hermione and her father ran up the stairs, just to be forced to turn around running and screaming from the home when they disturbed a family of sleeping racoons. Once in the backyard, it was easy to figure out how the wild animals had gotten in, there was a broken window and a giant crack in the foundation. The only positive was that Aurora had been busy with her grandmother and hadn't set anything on fire.

Besides those two houses of horror though, the rest just hadn't been what any of the Grangers were looking for in a home. Either it was too small, not enough bedrooms, bathrooms needing too much work, nonexistent yards, the list could go on and on. Not a single thing they had viewed had said "home" to any of the Grangers.

"Don't forget Jody, we're looking for two properties." Helen Granger pipped up from the back seat where she had squeezed her way between Aurora's car seat and her husband. "And the closer they can be the better. I've spent too much time separated from my precious granddaughter as is, we have to make up for lost time you know."

Yes, that was correct. Hermione and Aurora weren't the only Grangers in need of a new home. Helen and Roger Granger were also in the market of buying after spending so much time apart from Hermione and Aurora, they wanted to make sure they were close. Hermione had put her foot down at them all living together in the same house, but she was excited to have her parents want to be close to her again after all this time. Also, it meant that she would have more help with Aurora and with Hermione's single mother status, she was thrilled at having such involved grandparents for her daughter.

It had taken two years after the war for Hermione and a team of healers in Australia to reverse the Obliviate that Hermione had put on them when the war had begun. It had taken the birth of Aurora for her parents to finally forgive Hermione enough for such a betrayal of their trust that they had wanted to be more than a footnote in her adult life. Not that she could blame them, but it had still hurt that they had kept her at arm's length for such a long time.

"Gran wants to live with me, but mummy told her no." Aurora pipped up to let the relator (who was now bloody bouncing in her seat with her excitement) know. One group and she was going to have two sales, the definition of two birds one stone.

"Hermione Jean, look there!" Ignoring the way Hermione had shoved her face into her hands to avoid having to watch the relator's behavior outrageous, her mother pressed on as they passed a lane that was overgrown with brush and a "for sale" sign swinging by the road. "Jody, would you be a dear and just pop through there for me? Thank you deary."

"Oh well, of course, of course. Let's see, what's happening down here…" Hermione could feel as the car turned down a gravel path. There was a slight scrap against the windows of the car that Hermione assumed were overgrown trees or bushes. The ride continued for a few more minutes while Hermione listened her Aurora softly singing to herself, making Hermione wonder just how far back this property went.

"Oh my- this is, wonderous…" As Jody breathed these worder, Hermione finally pulled her hands away from her face and looked up to the property, with her jaw dropping. The long winding drive, hid a slice of paradise away from the rest of the world. Breaking the rest of the way through a clearing of trees, Hermione's breath caught in her throat.

Spread out in front of her were two beautiful country homes. Stone facing was the outside of both homes, with one being a two-story house and the other a single story, the homes were staggered on the path with the two-story home being closer to the entrance and the single story settled behind a field of wild flowers.

Hermione could see a large barn far off to the side, close to the thick cluster of trees, with white paint chipping off the wood, but otherwise looked to be well kept. A small pond with a dock, and a large willow tree growing proudly next to it was nestled about fifteen meters far from the barn.

The entire sight made all four adults in the car gasp, the 4-year-old turned to her Gran and whispered "Is this our house now?" The most Hermione could do was nod her head in agreement. This was a beautiful area and would be a perfect place to raise a magical child, but close enough to the muggle village that she would be able to attend muggle primary school before attending Hogwarts as Hermione had always wanted for her daughter.

Once the car had rolled to a stop, Hermione was out the car holding onto the door looking in awe of the beautiful property. "Dad, it's perfect." Hermione breathed looking over her shoulder where her father stood.

"I agree, though why don't we see the insides of the houses before we commit to a move in date, yeah?" Chuckling to herself, Hermione nodded agreeing with her father. Helen, Jody, and a rambunctious Aurora followed the father and daughter towards the two-story home where they waited for Jody to open the relator lock box to retrieve the key.

Holding her breath, Hermione braced herself for whatever horrors this home was going to be.

It was magnificent, at least in her eyes. They had walked in the backdoor, that lead directly into a large kitchen that hadn't been updated recently, but it was spacious and an open plan. An island in the center of the kitchen, and plenty of cabinets and counter space. All the appliances would need replaced, but that was something Hermione figured she could work with. A small chandelier hung in the center of the room, making Aurora give a content sigh.

"Mummy, this house is perfect!"

"Let's see the rest of it, yeah?" Papa for the save, came up behind the tiny girl and lifted her onto his shoulders before they disappeared through the doorway into the dining room.

"So, the house has all its original hardwood floors, four bedrooms, all on the second floor, three bathrooms, the kitchen and dining room are separate, then there is also a sitting room through this way and a small office off the sitting room. Oh, look a screened in porch with a swing. That would be a perfect place to relax with a cuppa and watch your sweet girl run around on the property." Jody was carrying a piece of paper that she had gotten from the kitchen with all the facts about the house, occasionally glancing up to watch the mother and daughter inspect the downstairs level of the home.

"MUMMY I WANT TO TAKE A BATH!" Following the sound of her daughter's voice, Hermione found Aurora sitting in the master bathroom in a clawfoot tub that could easily fit three people. If Hermione hadn't already been in love with the property, the bathroom would have sold her on the house.

"Hermione Jean, oh this is perfect! I can see you raising Aurora here." Helen whispered while reaching a hand towards her daughter and gave it a tight reassuring squeeze.

Knowing that if he didn't speak up it could be some time before Hermione and Helen finished their "moment", Roger clapped his hands together and announced, "right, now, let's have a look at the other home on the property, shall we?"

Walking out of the two-story house, Jody locked up the first house before they went to go look at the smaller home. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, all on a single story. The kitchen and dining room were considerably smaller, but this home looked like it had been more recently updated. A large bay window in the sitting room looked out to the pond had Helen and Roger all in.

It was perfect. Yes, the land would be shared by her parents, but Hermione didn't mind in the least.

A look between the three adults and a silent agreement was made; "We'll take it."

ooo

"Gran! I like oranges!"

"Aurora Jean, they don't have oranges here, they do have grapes. You liked the grapes that Papa brought home last night."

"No, I don't, I like oranges." Hermione glanced up from the menu that she was currently looking over to watch the scene in front of her unfold. Luckily it was early enough in the evening that the restaurant they were eating at was fairly empty, so there were no witnesses to her daughter's tantrum.

Hermione couldn't even be upset with her daughter over the meltdown. She was tired and hungry, and had been riding in a car pretty much nonstop for three days straight to drive around to look at numerous different properties. Then, this afternoon after they had found their new home she had to sit quietly while they worked on negotiations with the pervious owner until they had settled on a price, all the while not being allowed to go and explore her new home.

For a four-year-old magical child, Hermione had been very impressed by how well Aurora had done.

Holding her arms out to her mother, Hermione gladly lifted her little girl out of the seat she was current occupying by herself and tucking into her lap, where Hermione began running her fingers lazily in Aurora's hair and making soft soothing sounds in her ear. Their waitress reappeared with Aurora's fruit cup (it was just grapes, not sure why they called it a fruit cup) causing Aurora to burst into tears.

"Oh dear, maybe someone is needing an afternoon nap. We'll be home soon and my little darling will be able to get snuggled up with her dragon and sleep until tomorrow. How does that sound?" Hermione's father had leaned over to try and calm the crying girl, but was met with a face full of white curls instead.

"No, Papa, I like oranges!" With her last proclamation, the bowl of grapes in front of her turned into orange slices, causing Helen and Roger to jump in surprise. "Oh, heehee, see Papa, oranges." Aurora's tears still glistened on her round face with red rimmed eyes, but a smile had appeared as she tucked into eating the fruit now in front of her.

"She's more like you every day." Her mother sighed looking at the transfigured fruit that her granddaughter was now happily enjoying. "You know, I once took you for a strawberry milkshake and instead they messed up the order and gave you a strawberry banana smoothie. Oh, how you cried and cried the entire walk back to the car after you had tasted it. As soon as we were settled in the car your scrunched up your face and then started drinking from the cup humming to yourself. Looking back, I'd now bet that you made that smoothie into the milkshake you'd been wanting because you drank every last drop."

"Yes, well, accidental magic is something isn't it." Hermione could feel the blush coming up her neck. She knew that her parents didn't like to talk about magic or the wizarding world that Hermione belonged to. It had taken years to mend the broken trust between herself and her parents, and knowing that Hermione had used her own magic against her parents had made it a sore subject between them.

To keep the peace, Hermione never used any magical means of travel when her parents were involved and kept her wand put up, doing everything the muggle way. It was difficult, and she wasn't denying a part of herself, she was just respecting her parents and their distrust of magic after what they had been through.

Clearing his throat, Hermione's attention was brought back around to her father who had moved around the table to sit next to his wife. "Hermione, we wanted to talk with you about your world and what that will mean with us living in such close proximity." Aurora was kicking her feet back and forth humming to herself happily eating her orange slices, completely oblivious to the difficult conversation going on in front of her.

"Yes well, as you've seen and know from when I was younger, I can't exactly control Aurora's accidents, as evidence by everything that happened with Jody. She will be attending mug- er- normal primary school, and I'm wanting to register her for a preschool program starting this fall as well. At home though, I want her to be able to freely explore and experience our world." Hermione was bracing herself for the not the anger or disappointment to show in her parents faces, no, the anxiety that always washed over her parents when they spoke of magic and the wizarding world. That was what Hermione feared anytime they discussed magic. It was because of Hermione, and Hermione's actions that had caused that ever present anxiety.

The guilt that she felt every time it appeared ate at her, no matter how much their relationship had healed over the years.

"Hermione Jean, your father and I spoke about that in depth long before we decided that we would want to live near you. It just wasn't a conversation that we wanted to have over the phone and since you've been back, it had been a bit – chaotic, and we haven't had a chance to sit down with you."

Looking between her parents, Hermione wasn't sure what she was expecting them to say, but what came next was a complete surprise to her.

"Hermione, we want you and Aurora to embrace the witches that you are. I know we've been distrusting of your world and have been working on our relationship with you for some time now, but we now understand why you did what you did. We've seen the hard decisions you've had to make since having Aurora, and honestly, we were hurt. We didn't understand, for a long time, why you would take yourself away from us, but we really understand and accept your decision now. We understand that you did the best you could with what you had at the time. For saving our lives, when we were powerless to do anything ourselves."

Hermione's jaw went slack in the most un-ladylike manner. She knew the tears that she saw swelling in her mother's eyes were being reflected back at her in her own eyes.

"Hermione Jean, we're sorry it took us so long to figure this out. Can you ever forgive us?"

With a heavy nod, Hermione wasn't able to keep the tears at bay any longer. "Of course, I forgive you. I love you so much mum and dad."

"Mummy, I want more oranges." With that, all three adults at the table bust out laughing at the precious little girl who had paved the way to the forgiveness Hermione never thought she would get.

A/N: Here are just some fun facts. The homes that I described in their house hunt, are *sigh* actual properties that I was subjected to while looking to buy my first home. I was standing on the stoop of the house that smelled like cat pee, and it burned my eyes. The second house, the only difference was that instead of live animals, they were dead. Myself and my father-in-law were the ones who came across the corpses, it was disturbing. In the end we did find a home that we loved.

AND the property that Hermione and her parents bought together…. WELL, all I did was describe my mom's neighbor's property. His mother's home is just a short walk along a stone path, and the property is beautiful. The only difference is that instead of being tucked away in a forest, my mom's neighbor's home is surrounded by corn fields.

I hope you enjoyed the fluff, next chapter, you finally get Draco back. *smirks and winks*
