It was night time, and Grom was in full swing. Students were dancing and talking, genuinely having fun... then there's Amity. She was outside the gym, looking at the pink paper in her hand. She ran her thumb over it, feeling her nerves start to act up again.

"Well, how do I look?"

Amity looked up and saw Luz, wearing an outfit Amity's never seen before. It was dark red, except for the black and gold colored tunic, and what looked like tight boots, but were actually shoes and kick guards.

"You look... nice. Strange, but nice." Amity said, "What is it?"

"It's an outfit from the Fire Nation, it's a little bit old, rarely anyone wears them anymore, but they are used for Fire Bending training." Luz explained, "Seeing as I'm a Firebender, I might as well wear something I'm comfortable."

"You're a strong girl, Luz. I could never do something like this." Amity said.

"Please, you're way stronger than I am." Luz said, "You're getting soft, Blight."

Amity chuckled.

"In your dreams." Amity said.

Amity reaching into her pocket for her note.

'It's now or never.' Amity thought.

"Luz, there's something I wanted to tell you. Something really important."

"What is it?"

"Luz, will-"

"Now introducing, the one, the only, your Grom Queen, Avatar Luz!" Gus said, getting the night fight started.

"That's my cue, what was it you wanted to tell me?" Luz asked.

Amity swallowed a lump in her throat.

"I-I-I wanted to say... good luck." Amity said, "I hope you show Grom who's boss."

"Thanks, Amity." Luz said.

Luz turned to go into the gym, causing Amity to look down, upset. Luz walked into the gym and into the pit. She didn't need a weapon, she had everything she needed. Behind her, Grom formed from the ground. Grom raised a tendril and tried to slam it on Luz. Luz rolled out of the way and shot a blast of fire from her hand. The crowd cheered as Grom retreated temporarily. Luz got to her feet and waited. If Grom could shapeshift into her worst fear, then she just won't let it get close enough to find her fear. Grom rose in front of her and tried to hit her with the tendril again, trying to touch her head to see her worst fear. Luz used her Earthbending to make a wall of rock that prevented it from touching her. Luz hit the wall with her foot, sending it at Grom. The wall collided with Grom and broke from the impact. Luz used the distraction to send a blast of fire at it again. Luz threw a punch, sending fire at Grom, then another fist, this one sending rocks at it, she then threw a kick, with a stream of fire coming out of her foot, hitting Grom and sending it backwards. Grom couldn't handle the fire and melted into the floor.

"I guess Grom can't take the heat." Luz said, "Where are you Grom?"

Grom reformed behind Luz and Luz rolled away, leaving behind a little present for Grom. An Ice Glyph. An ice spike rose from it and stabbed Grom. Luz turned around and melted the ice. She held the water above her and aimed it at Grom, unleashing a large amount of water that sent Grom back. Grom started moving back towards Luz, which made her smirk.

"Here's a little bit of advice, Grom... never swim during an electrical storm."

Luz started to move her hands, generating sparks. She waited for her moment, feeling the rush flow through her body, then she pointed. She smiled as her lightning bolt hit the soaking wet Grom. Grom let out a scream of pure pain and melted into the ground. Luz waited, not too sure if Grom would have another attack or not. Luz felt something on her head and took it off to reveal a tiara.

"Ladies and gentlemen, put it up for your Grom Queen, Avatar Luz!" Gus said.

Luz let out a sigh of relief, she wasn't going to need to face her fear tonight. Luz walked up the stairs and was greeted by her friends.

"Luz, that was amazing!" Willow said, "Grom didn't even touch you!"

"I'm just glad that I didn't have to face my fear." Luz said, "I wouldn't be brave enough for that."

Luz saw Amity at the other side of the gym, looking at the note. Luz walked over to her.

"Hey, Amity, there's... there's something I wanted to tell you." Luz said.

"Oh, well, there's been something I wanted to ask you as well." Amity said, looking at the note.

"In that case, why don't you go first?" Luz asked.

"Really? Okay, well... Luz, I wanted to give-"

Amity was cut off as an explosion blew a hole in the roof. The building shook and several people were injured, almost everyone was knocked down, being close to the blast. Luz started to crawl on the ground, trying desperately to get to her feet. She stopped when the sound of clapping rang through the room.

"Well done, Luz, I expect nothing less from my daughter." Luz's dad said, "Men, you know the plan."
