The next few weeks have passed very fast. Between training Hunter on Firebending, or learning more advanced Airbending, or getting her friends to help, Luz's time was packed from sunrise to sunset. She stood in front of the Emperor.
"Tomorrow is the day he will have to go to Eclipse Lake." Belos said, "I hope you are ready for this, Avatar."
"I am, and you can just call me Luz."
Belos smiled.
"Then you may call me, Philip." Belos said.
In another part of the Isles, Caine was getting ready for tomorrow. He had everything he needed, demon venom, Titan's Blood, Palistrom Sap, the portal for his army to conquer the Human World after taking over the Demon Realm. Everything he needed was right here. He was mixing the Titan's Blood, Demon Venom, and Sap together when some of his men walked up to him.
"Everything is ready for tomorrow." One said, "But there is one small problem."
"What kind of problem?" Caine asked.
"The entrance to the Lake is completely surrounded by the Emperor's Coven, and it's locked behind a four feet thick metal door." The other one said.
"That's just a trivial problem, with my new weapon I'll be able to get past them with ease." Caine said, "Move out tonight, we don't have a moment to lose."
They bowed and walked out of the room. He began to finish the mixture and put it in a vial. He held it up to the light and smiled. This was going to be the thing that allows him to have his immense power. He walked over to the cage and placed a hand on the bar.
"Are you ready my pet?" He asked.
In the shadow, two pure red eyes were all that was visible, before several more smaller eyes opened. A growl was heard and he smiled more.
"Good, you'll get to eat soon." He said, before walking away, "Time to get ready."
Later, at the Emperor's Castle, Luz and her team of Skara, Amelia, Boscha, Gus, Kat, and Willow stood in the Throne Room. Belos looked at the group.
"Well, if the Avatar trust you, then I do as well." He said, "But please note, this is the most dangerous moment of your lives, there is no shame in backing out."
Willow stepped forward.
"If Luz needs us, then we will help, it's the least we can do for all the stuff she's done for us."
Boscha stepped forward.
"She saved me when my Uncle tried to kill me."
Gus stepped forward.
"She helped me when the H.A.S was attacked by a Taka."
Skara stepped forward.
"She helped me become the Beast Keeper I wanted to be."
Each of them gave reasons why they were willing to die if it meant helping Luz, making Luz feel her heart swell. She was a nobody in the Human Realm, despite being the Avatar, so having people that not only liked her, but were willing to die for her, made her feel... welcomed. Belos smiled behind his mask, this group of kids reminded him of him and Caine, standing side by side, having each other's back. If only things could've been different.
"Very well, we'll head out in the morning." Belos said.
The next day at dawn, Belos and Luz and the group moved out. They already heard about how he was seen around the area of Eclipse Lake so they sent the Coven the night before to intercept him.
"You realize this is going to be a war, right?" Luz asked.
"Knowing my brother, I wouldn't expect anything less." Belos said.
They came upon a group of injured Coven Guards. Kat instantly ran over and started checking on them.
"They'll live, but only if they get Healing immediately." Kat said.
"Okay, stay here and help them." Luz said, "The rest of us will continue."
Belos immediately knew what was going to happen.
"Caine is going to try and break us up." Belos said, "The closer we get to him, the harder the opponents will be."
"Well as long as a few of us manage to get to him, then we can do this." Luz said.
"You're a little too optimistic." Hunter said.
"It's all I have left." Luz said.
They continued walked towards the lake, less than a mile from the cave entrance, when the next problem arrived. A pack of Slitherbeast. Skara pushed through the group.
"Leave this to me." She said, summoning a Violin, "I've been mixing my Beast Keeping and Bard magic and have been waiting for something like this."
She placed the bow against the strings and started to play a song. The Slitherbeasts seemed to be entranced by the song.
"You guys keep going, I'll lead the Slitherbeasts away." Skara said, still playing the song.
Skara led them away while the rest of the group continued on.
"Alright, it's clear that we should be prepared for anything." Willow said.
Just as she said that, they heard a growl. They watched a shadow on the wall as their next challenge approached. Boscha sniffed the air and knew the problem.
"I smell a demon." She said.
A pale hand, with black veins and sharp claws, clawed the boulder it was coming from the side of. It turned the corner and they saw their next challenge.
"Amity."
