-Chapter Five-
Location: The Nemesis - The Decepticon Warship.
Note: Here is another Amber focused chapter, which means the second chapter will be on Hiba, of course.
"Hey you!"
Amber awoke, startled. She looked around and saw someone purple standing outside her cell bars. As her vision came into focus, she saw that the one standing outside her cell was Novastorm- Acidstorm's sister and the person- if it were possible, who hated her even more than Starscream.
Right now, Novastorm was wearing a smile that Amber knew meant no good.
"What?" said Amber, a little bit of her frustration coming out.
"You stole it!" said Novastorm, pointing an accusing finger at Amber through her cell bars.
"What do you mean?" said Amber. "I didn't steal anything!"
Novastorm smiled and opened the cell doors. The lock opened with a *click* and she entered, still wearing that disturbing smile. She walked over to the broken shelf, picked a file off it and turned around, facing Amber, saying "If you didn't steal the file, than how do you explain this?"
She waved the file in front of Amber and then said "Sir Megatron sent me down here to investigate and- he's not gonna be happy is he when he sees that you had his file" Novastorm continued while Amber stared disbelievingly, eyes darting from the file to Novastorm and then back again. This couldn't be real! She thought. I didn't steal the file! I don't even know what it is about!
Amber started in a hollow sort of tone, "Listen, I didn't steal it! In fact, I didn't even put it up there! I was working all day long yesterday and before that, I was locked up in the cell all night! I didn't do anything!"
"Yeah, tell that to Megatron" said Novastorm, her disturbing smile increasing. "I hope you have fun getting blasted by his fusion cannon. After all, it was one of his top secret files"
Amber desperately tried to convince her that she was innocent but Novastorm put a finger to her comms and said "Sir, I've found the file. It appears it was in the cell of the prisoner, Amber"
Novastorm listened to Megatron's reply on the comms and then looked at Amber saying "You better be prepared. He's coming here. He must be really mad"
Amber felt hollow and scared as Megatron stood before her. She shook as he asked "Did you steal the file?!" in a menacing and loud tone. Amber felt so terrified at the moment, she couldn't even muster the strength to say something. That didn't matter to Megatron though. He said louder than before "Did you?!"
Amber's voice shook as she replied, not daring to look in the dangerously red optics of Megatron, "I- I di- didn't..."
"Then what is this?!" shouted Megatron, waving the file in front of her. "I really thought you to tell the truth... it appears I expected too much" he said, his voice getting less louder but more colder.
Amber said feebly "But I- I am telling the truth!"
Amber could tell that Novastorm had just resisted the urge to snort but no, Amber was going to prove she was telling the truth. She was going to prove it or die trying. She wasn't just going to give up and be shot with Megatron's fusion cannon.
Megatron snarled at her argument and looked at her angrily before Amber said "You want the truth right, s- sir? Then please call Soundwave. He can read minds, can't he? He'll tell you if I speak the truth and if I don't... then you can do whatever you want..."
Megatron considered this a moment before speaking "Really? You want to take that risk? Even if you're lying?"
"Yes" said Amber as confidently as possible, though she still shook a bit as she looked at Megatron. The red optics were terrifying as far she knew, filled with anger and hate.
"Alright" said Megatron and Amber's jaw almost dropped in surprise. She hadn't thought he'd agree to what she was saying. Afterall, Megatron did what he thought was right and didn't consider anyone else's opinions, right? Amber could see from behind that Novastorm was incredibly disappointed and she looked like she was resisting the urge to pout as Megatron ordered her to go get Soundwave. She left hurriedly.
"But-" Megatron growled when Novastorm was gone, "-if you dare try to decieve me, you should know that could cost you a lot"
Amber nodded and felt fury. Hot, burning fury. So, this was the way it was going to go? Megatron always had his way and nobody was going to stop him? He hadn't even once asked her what she felt but it's not like the high and mighty leader of the Decepticons cared anyway and that infuriated Amber. She hated Megatron. Right now, she hated every little thing about him and she held back from screaming her feelings at him. Afterall, what good would it do? It's not like he'd listen to what she wanted to say.
Soundwave arrived after what seemed like ages and when he did, Amber looked away and at Megatron, who smirked but Amber didn't care. She knew the truth and she was going to tell it, whether Megatron cared or not.
"Yes sir?" asked Soundwave in his usual monotone, the one Amber was still getting used to.
"Soundwave, I need you to confirm something for me" said Megatron, still looking at Amber. Amber could not bear to look into his withering red optics so Amber shifted her gaze to the wall behind him instead, making it look like she was looking at him.
"What do I need to confirm?" asked Soundwave, his tone, indifferent.
"Tell me-" started Megatron, "-If Amber here is telling the truth about one of my most important files"
Megatron explained everything to Soundwave properly and after he had finished, Soundwave spoke "Yes sir, I shall tell you what you need to know"
After that, he looked at Amber and Amber looked back at him as confidently as possible while her mind filled with thoughts such as What if he doesn't tell Megatron the truth?
Soundwave continued looking at Amber for a moment (which Amber couldn't help but find disturbing) before turning towards Megatron and saying "She does not appear to be lying. She is telling the truth regarding your file. She did not steal it"
Amber relaxed as Megatron thought. Megatron asked though, "But how did the file end up in her cell? I don't think Novastorm..."
Amber wasn't even listening to Megatron. She felt so relieved that Megatron found out that she was telling the truth that she had lost her attention span for the moment. However, she returned back to Earth when Megatron turned towards her and started speaking.
"Amber, I... appreciate you telling the truth" he admitted. "But you will still stay here though" he continued. Then he smirked "I'm sorry if that disappoints you"
Amber did not roll her eyes, despite wanting to and just nodded in response as Megatron and Soundwave left. When she was sure they had left, she sighed in relief and slumped down on her uncomfortable metallic bed. Her relief though was quickly wiped out by a feeling of rage as she remembered her family. They'd be worried sick for her and Hiba... she didn't even know if Hiba was safe or not... she had been separated from her...
Amber sat in her cell, thinking bitterly. She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't even notice Megatron as he came outside her cell. She just kept staring bitterly at the wall at the side and it wasn't until Megatron said "Ahem" that she noticed he was here.
Amber couldn't help but roll her eyes as she turned around. "Yes" she still said in her normal tone, keeping the bitterness out of her tone. She looked up and found herself looking at Megatron, who had unlocked her cell door and entered, locking the cell door behind him.
"I wish to ask you some questions" said Megatron. His tone was deep but- soft and Amber looked up at him, surprised at his change of tone.
Still, Amber's anger hadn't ebbed away and so, she said, unable to keep out the bitterness in her voice. "Well then, ask away"
Megatron could obviously hear the bitterness in her tone and smirked at it but just for a moment as he asked "I wish to ask... why do you wish to be an Autobot?"
Amber couldn't believe it. They were still talking about this? Still stuck on this same subject? She just couldn't even try to keep the bitterness out of her tone as she asked "Isn't it obvious?"
Megatron raised an eyebrow as if raising objection but at the same time, he didn't say anything so Amber took that as a sign to continue. Amber took a deep breath, this time holding her anger in as she said "I want to join the Autobots because... because they defend everyone... they help people, they don't destroy stuff... they help people even though they're from another planet... I want to join them because they actually... care. They are not putting up an act of heroism... they are true heroes"
Megatron chuckled, his voice echoing around the cell. He stopped and asked "And what of the Decepticons? What are we?"
Amber looked up at him, at his red optics. Did he really want to ask her view on the Decepticons? On him? He must be joking. After what he did in New York and so many countless other places?
"You..." started Amber in a far away tone, not being able to find words to describe the destruction of New York... the destruction of her home... suddenly, all efforts to control her anger vanished. Hot burning fury seemed to take over her. She closed her eyes as the screams of the people of her home echoed in her mind and when she opened them, she suddenly found herself screaming in hate, rage, sadness and regret that she couldn't do anything for her people, "You want to know how the Decepticons are?! Really? Don't you already know?! You're the glorious leader of the Decepticons after all! Oh, but you're asking me! Well, I'd be happy to describe your Decepticons for you! They... they..." her voice trailed off and she stopped screaming as emotion took over her. She began sobbing, tears running down her tired face as she remembered the screams, the blasts, the laughing of the Decepticons, and the people... the people who died, died right in front of her...
She started speaking again (Megatron was strangely mute), her voice shook as she spoke beacuse of the sobbs. "They... the Decepticons murdered... they killed... they laughed... they- they killed people as if they were nothing..."
Amber stopped. She couldn't continue on. She remembered being so terrified of the Decepticons... now, it seemed like it was a thing of the past even though she had been scared less than an hour ago. She didn't care if Megatron shot her now. At least she had stood up to him.
Megatron, surprisingly, did no such thing. Instead, he said in an equally far away tone which matched Amber's, "You really hate us... don't you?"
Amber looked up at him. His optics were not filled with anger and hate but instead they were filled with sorrow. It shook Amber to see Megatron this way. In fact, Megatron didn't even look like Megatron right now, he looked... different, like he wasn't the leader of the Decepticons but someone else...
Amber was spared answering by an unknown Seeker- which Amber had found out was the name of the Decepticons under Starscream's command. His suit was of a light blue colour with a few red accents. He spoke in an attentive tone to Megatron, "Sir, the Ark is heading toward us"
Megatron got up, his usual authorative demeanour returning and immediately headed out as Amber stared behind him. Wait, the Ark?! she thought. He doesn't mean... the Autobot ship?
Amber got happy for a second but then suddenly, she remembered Megatron's face... it looked so different... like he really did have a heart buried underneath all the violence and anger.
Amber tried to forget his face but she couldn't.
Author's Note: This is a sad chapter I know... but hey, the Autobots are here, so it's not that bad right?
