Chapter One

The Me I Am Now

Ainsley

Someone once said I was adaptable. That I could overcome any situation thrown at me. That someone was my mom, Beth, right before she shipped me off across the entire fucking country to live with my dad, Rob. Adaptable, huh? Adaptable Ainsley, that's me. What bullshit. Here's the basic info on me, so you can see why Adaptable Ainsley would never be my superhero name:

1. I'm currently on a flight from my hometown of Atlanta to live with my dad in a small-ass town called Forks in Washington. The Disstructive-Duo, AKA Rob and Beth, decided it would be a good idea to ship me here. For my own good, they said. Yeah, right.

2. It's clear my dad never thought anyone would be coming to live with him, because the only place me and my older sister, Tessa, have to sleep is an old sofa-bed that is about as hard as a rock.

3. I'm one of the only sixteen-year-olds I know who doesn't have a drivers' license. Or at least a learners' permit. I've practiced driving, and I'm damn good, but after the divorce, Beth couldn't find the time to help me practice.

4. My life sucks. It's not just the normal suckage, like the guy I like not crushing back, or some bullshit like that. And, for the record, the guy I liked was crushing back. We even became a couple. Then I told him I was sick and he dropped me like a fucking hot potato.

5. And about that. I have some boring-ass disease. It's not something that would inspire people to live their best lives, donate to charity, any of that shit. It's just this thing that's always there. Like some kind of fucked up shadow.

6. Upon arriving at Rob's, I'll be starting at La Push High, on the Res. I should be attending Forks High, as I don't have a drop of Native American blood in me, but Rob was able to pull some strings.

7. Yeah, I curse. Deal with it.

A/n: Hi guys! This is not set in the same universe as my other Twilight story, Defying Gravity. I know this title is kind of lame, so if you have any suggestions, please feel free to review or PM them to me. If we get to three reviews by Tuesday, I'll post the next chapter then. If not, it'll be on Thursday. Later!

Lauren.
