"Ughhhhh" The Riolu groaned
"Remind me why I'm doing this again?"
After a long-awaited rest, the unnamed Riolu was back up and on her paws. The once soiled bandages had been replaced by clean white ones while the blood that she had been coated in had been washed away with some warm soapy water.
And yet here she sat on the floor. Stacking Documents, she presumed older than the guild itself into an impossibly complicated sorting system.
A lazy Lucario was sat head on his desk in mock sleep, the only movement the slow rising and falling of his chest as he mumbled to the Riolu.
"As long as you are staying in guild facility's you need to work as a guild member." The Guildmaster calmly spoke.
"So instead of kicking me out, you're making me do your chores?"
"Exactly" The Lucario tormented.
"Besides, you show up unannounced, with no memories, no name, and you seem to be an adept Aura user to boot. That isn't just something that happen by coincidence. There must be a reason for your appearance."
The Lucario sighed
"Besides I'm curious."
The Riolu huffed throwing up her arms as she did so.
"And you're going to do this by making me do some chores?"
"For the meantime… Yes." Lyn retorted.
The room was quiet for a moment, well as quiet as it can be with a pouting Riolu shuffling around.
The Lucario Sighed, lifting his head from his desk he looked to the Riolu sifting papers.
"I suppose now we have to give you a name, can't keep calling you Riolu forever after all." Lyn said
"I'm open to suggestions" The Riolu responded
"Hmm, how about, Rio?"
Riolu stopped what she was doing, turning to the Lucario.
"Are you serious… Isn't that too similar to Riolu" Riolu Deadpanned
"Yeah, I guess so, How about Anrita?" Lyn Spoke jazz hands and all.
"Yeahhhhh, no."
"Oh I know a great one, How about 'Little Shit"
Riolu turned to the smirking Lucario with scowl.
"I thought a Guildmaster was meant to be more mature than this." The Riolu scoffed.
"Only as mature as I need to be."
Their conversation was cut short however by a knocking at the door.
"Who is it?" the Lucario called.
Shuffling was heard from outside the room, followed by the click of the door handle.
As the door opened the Shinx from earlier walked into the room, old leather Satchel clenched in his jaw while the main weight of the bag was on his back. Making him look like a tacked Rapidash.
Riolu recognised him as the same shinx from the beach.
The Shinx waddled to the now alert Lucario's, struggling to keep his balance with the extra weight, before dropping the leather bag by his feet.
Clattering of glass and other items were heard as it slumped to the ground.
Taking a few steps back the Shinx seemed to admire his work, wiping away a bead of sweat from his forehead.
"So much for a relaxing walk to work" Edison muttered under his breath.
'What's all this about?" Lyn spoke
"Oh, I was going to ask you if you knew anything about these weird symbols I found? You seemed pretty knowledgeable about this sort of stuff."
"On the bag?"
"Yeah, they're on the bag."
Getting up from his desk Lyn shuffled towards the bag, eyeing it he circled it walking in rhythm of an unheard ballet, taking two steps, as if observing the craftsmanship of the cracked exterior, before nodding and repeating the process.
"Stop doing that." The Riolu deadpanned "makes you look like more of an idiot that you already are."
The Lucario chuckled lightly at the statement.
Stepping back from the Satchel the Lucario seemed to ponder the matter for a brief moment before turning to Edison.
"This is quite interesting Edison. It does have modern day footprint script that much is evident, However I'm not even sure that these… Pictures? Are anything leisurable. I have never seen such things before, but the leather does look to date to the early-."
Before the Lucario could continue Riolu spoke up.
"Meeko"
"Oh, that could be a good name." he said
Riolu sighed
"No dummy that what it says." The Riolu Scoffed
Walking up to the bag she goes to pick it up, the weight of the contents seemed to great and after some unsuccessful attempts she strings a slew of curses and drags the bag to the amused Lucario.
"Sure, it looks to be scribbled by a toddler, but that's what it says."
"Look"
She then pointed to the Sword symbol メ
"M-e"
Shifting a finger to the next symbol looking to Edison as she did エ"
"E"
Returning her gaze to the pokerfaced Lucario the spoke コ"
"Ko"
"It's obviously the name of the owner, From where I'm from it's a pretty common name."
Riolu Paused
"Where I'm from?" she repeated the words barely a Wisper.
as foreign as they were she had voiced them only moments earlier.
"And where might that be?" The Lucario asked
"I-I don't know."
She seemed to visibly deflate at the statement.
The Lucario Sighed walking up to the Riolu he crouched down. Now at even height he placed a paw on her shoulder.
"I still think it could be a good name," he said
"What are your thoughts on it?" he asked almost rhetorically.
Riolu supressed a small giggle.
"I can't just steal someone's name." the Riolu retorted.
"How about… Miko?"
The Riolu paused, as if in thought.
"It's basically the same."
"It's the best both of us could do and you know it."
"Yeah, I know."
"Did she not have a Name?!" Edison retorted.
She started giggling at the statement giggling turned into laughter and before she knew it Lyn was laughing as well, although it was more of a slow chuckle for the Lucario.
Edison looked on in deep confusion and even just a hint of concern at the two of them.
"What?"
"So the Mystery Riolu getting all buddy-buddy with the Guildmaster is named Miko?"
Talk bout the amnesiac Riolu spread like wildfire around the Lucario Guild.
There were not many that didn't know the name Of Miko the Riolu and her practically free stay in guild quarters.
Some Pokémon were empathetic to the young Riolu, while others were curious. A small selection of individuals however flat out didn't like the blue canine, for no other reason than.
"She's a Freeloading, uhh- Freeloader!" The Shaymin fumed.
"Shoulda kicked the Runt out of my turf when I had the chance."
Kakiru fondled the stray eyepatch hanging from his neck.
"Come on buddy, she's not the bad guy here. Just ease up a little, ok?"
"Ease up? I have to pay rent, and she doesn't?! Isn't that enough of a reason not to like the mutt."
Changing the topic Kakiru spoke. "so what do ya think the Guildmaster wants with us now?"
"The senile bastard probably wants us to finish his paperwork problem for him. And ill be damned if I'm gonna let the old mon rope me into it." Fusha tore.
Quickening his pace, the Shaymin walks ahead of the Machamp with a groan.
Kakiru watches as he makes his way down the hallway, the very same one he walked yesterday with the Riolu to the Guildmasters quarters.
After a silent uneventful walk the pair found themselves Infront of the ornate doors once more.
Kakiru gently knocked.
"Hey Lyn. You called?"
After a brief pause and some shuffling The Lucario responded.
"Come on in."
Kakiru pressed open the door, expecting to see the same pylons of papers and documents littering the room, however the room looked, clean?
The once littered ground had been swept clean of paper and debris while his once messy desk had been sorted and organised.
"How did you?" the Machamp started.
"Oh yeah Miko helped me out."
The Guildmaster motioned to a corner of the room. There propped up against a wall lay a sleeping Riolu, broom still in hand.
"She helped me clean this place up last night so I don't want to wake her."
"Sounds to me like you have a soft spot for the little amnesiac." The Machamp snickered
The Lucario paused for a brief moment.
"That's besides the point," he began.
Motioning for the duo to follow he briskly walked over to his desk. Once he reached his destination, he took a steel glance at the two mon.
"Listen what I going to ask you to do is strictly off record for no other reason than I don't trust anyone else with this information." He started
"I want you two to examine and find out as much about this as possible."
The Lucario then pulls a small wooden box from out of view and places it on the desk.
The Machamp steals a weary glance.
"Go on open it" the impatient Shaymin prods.
Reaching forward Kakiru lifts the lid of the box to find a gleaming silver dagger suspended on a bed of straw.
Fusha reaches for the blade only for the lid to be abruptly shut by the agitated Lucario.
"Hey what gives?" Fusha retorts.
"Yeah, why does this have to be kept under wraps? It doesn't look like that big of a deal." The Machamp chimed in.
Lyn sighed
"Just do this for me, please?" Lyn asked.
Kakiru Sighed
"Yeah, yeah whatever, we will do what we can. Right Fusha?"
"Yeah, I get it old man, keep it quiet, don't tell a soul, anything else I should keep in mind?" The Shaymin said mockingly
Lyn shook his head.
"Ill keep you two updated on my end, but for now I want you too drop your other assignments, I'll have other teams fill in your rolls. Today I want you solely focused on this, no distractions. Got it?"
"Got it!" The two responded.
Pocketing the box Kakiru and Fusha left the room only a little confused, why was this to be kept so secretive? I mean it's only a dagger
