Another chapter down. Like I said, almost done. Just a few more scenes in mind left.

At the Mansion, they were greeted by what felt like hundreds of officers.

Krissy says, "wait here Adrien, let me find out what they are doing."

Adrien complied. Krissy approached the officer who looked like he was in charge. "Excuse me, sir."

He turned to face her, "restricted property ma'am. Please step back."

Krissy says, "no, I'm Gabriel Agreste's sister. I'm taking custody of his son. I just need to grab Adren's passport so we can go back to my house in the United States."

The officer says, "the passport is confiscated. Adrien Agreste isn't permitted to leave until after the investigation is complete. He must remain in the city bounds."

Krissy was surprised, "okay this is news. No one told me this."

The officer says, "well I'm telling you now."

Krissy says, "okay, rude. I have faith he's innocent. So can I just sign something? If he's found guilty I'll bring him back. I'll give you my address. Not like we running."

The officer scoffs, "so not how any of this works. He leaves France, we can't charge him in necessary without contacting federal agents. He leaves the city, we need higher-ranking officers to prosecute."

Krissy says, "or you can call me and I'll bring him back. But that won't happen because he's innocent."

The officer says, "we have to finish searching the premises here. If you have nothing useful to share, please move along."

Krissy says, "no, you don't understand. I have a job. I have to return home or I'm gonna lose my job."

The officer shrugs. He doesn't care. And he doesn't care to act as he does. "This has nothing to do with us."

Krissy says, "Adrien is innocent and I live in the US. I need to go back."

The officer suggests, "leave him here. He was safe at the House of Misplaced Children."

Krissy snaps, "Safe? Bullshit was he safe. I don't want to think about what was about to happen if I showed up a few moments later. There are no available rooms except super unrealistic expensive places. And even if I find an available room I don't have money like that for a long-term stay."

The officer sighs, "your exhausting lady. Please move along. Either stay with him or return him to the home and leave!"

Krissy glares, "your a bad person." She shouts louder for the others to hear. "You're all very bad people."

She storms away. Once she approaches Adrien he says, "I'm sorry. If you have to go it's fine."

Krissy says, "what? Don't be stupid." The softly pushes him from the top of his head, as she walks away, "let's go, kiddo."

Adrien catches up to her, "your mad?"

Krissy smiles, "not at you. Just gotta figure this out. Slight setback, but..." She notices a bistro. "Hungry?"

Adrien grips his stomach, "a little bit."

Krissy grabs his hand, "let's go get a bite."

With Nino, Marinette, and Alya.

Finally lunchtime. The three sat alone. Chloe wasn't in school today.

Nino sighs, "he still hasn't texted me back."

Alya places a hand on his shoulder, "I'm sure he's fine. And I'm confident that we'll get him today."

Nino shakes his head, "no, something's wrong. I can feel it."

Krissy and Adrien walk into the bistro. Krissy smiles at the hostess, "hi, two." She held up two fingers to emphasize.

The hostess reluctantly shows them a table. Adrien takes a seat.

Krissy explains, "kid I gotta make a phone call. Order whatever you want and get me something too. Listen, whatever you order for me better not have testicles, snails, no pigeon meat, no raw meat. In fact, I like well done."

Adrien chuckles, "have you ever had Escargots? It's delicious."

Krissy says, "I do not plan on ever putting a snail in my mouth. I'm sure I missed some gross foods. Maybe just order me a cappuccino or latte. I'll be right back.

Krissy walks into the ladies' room and dials her home phone. She removes the earpiece with the microphone. Regina picks up.

"Hey, Regina, who at the house?"

Regina explains, "Just your parents and me. I'm watching Elana. Jamal should be home any minute though."

Krissy says, "yeah we have a problem. Get my parents."

On speaker, her mother says "what's this I hear about a problem?"

Krissy explains, "Adrien isn't allowed to leave the city. His passport was confiscated."

Her father asks, "you have a plan?"

Krissy says, "no. I don't know what to do. I can't leave him here by himself and I'm not renouncing my guardianship. He's not going back to that hell hole."

Her father says, "your job?"

Krissy nearly cries, "I know. But I don't know what to do. I... Oh holy shit, man. This is a nightmare."

Her mother says, "your father and I don't work. We can catch a charter and take care of Adrien for you."

Krissy says, "I slept outside last night ma. They don't have rooms in our price range available. And even if they did, I can't afford a long-term stay."

Her father says "I'll bring a tent. It be a'ight baby girl."

Krissy says, "don't do anything yet. Let me think about this. Have Ronald give me a call when he gets back."

And they said there I love you's and Krissy stared in the mirror. She repositions the earpiece and exits the bathroom.

When she approaches her table she notices Adrien was soaking wet.

Krissy asks, "what the heck happened to you."

Adrien says "I spilled some water?"

"On your head?"

Adrien says, "it's just..."

Krissy stops him, "you ain't gotta lie to me."

Adrien sheepishly says, "I told you everyone hates me."

Krissy asks, "you want to leave?"

Adrien shakes his head, "we don't have to."

Krissy asks, "how about you point out who dumped the water on your head?"

Adrien says, "it's not that serious."

Before Krissy can argue a waitress asked them what they want. Krissy says, "I like Cappuccinos."

She says, "anything else."

Krissy glares, "yeah there is two of us. Adrien, what do you want?"

Adrien looks at Krissy, "can I have Onion soup?"

Krissy nods, "Whatever you want, I actually like French onion soup. Bring two." Then back to Adrien, "anything else?"

Adrien says, "maybe some water."

Krissy asks, "water? No soda?"

Adrien says, "I had soda last week."

Krissy squints, "so what? Is that some model thing? Nah you're having a soda with me." Krissy turns to the waitress, "bring two sodas too. Pepsi or coke. Whatever you gots."

The waitress says, "be out shortly."

Krissy says, "make sure you make it on the table this time."

And she gave Krissy a dirty look before leaving.

Adrien couldn't stop himself from laughing. "Father would never threaten someone like that."

Krissy says, "yeah, my big brother has always been prissy and cared what other people thought. This one time, dad picked us up from school" Krissy started giggling at the memory. He was late because work ran late. So Gabriel came over to my side of the school. And dad pulled up in this pickup truck. I loved daddy's truck, but Gabriel got so embarrassed. Plus daddy was blasting some right-winged music. But over the course, the right-thinking ain't the most popular. Gabriel was so red-faced. I think it was buddy brown and buddy brown is the shit. But my brother rather stays out of politics and rather keep his opinions to himself, you know. If he had any."

Adrien says, "whose buddy brown? And what you mean right thinking?"

Krissy says, "wow, we gotta get you in the groove. And there is the right and there is the left. Basically, it all boils down to abortion opinion. Transgender opinions. Shit like that. You got a standpoint on abortion? Or the Transgender movement? Or anything?"

Adrien thinks for a moment before saying, "I never really thought about I guess. Father always told me what to think and if I tried to disagree he'd trick me."

Krissy says, "yeah, figures. Well, now you have a chance to make your own opinions. So I'm not going to tell you what I think about anything until you forge your own opinion. Deal?"

Adrien asks, "how do you do that?"

Krissy says, "okay. Well, you gotta look at the facts. And then you make a decision based on both sides of the argument. And remember, it's your opinion. And it's okay if your opinion evolves once you learn more. I've been in debates where the other person was able to convince me."

Adrien smiles, "I'm going to try."

Krissy notices the cell phone. "Oh, you have a phone. Let me add your number."

Adrien admits, "this is actually my friend's phone. I left mine at the mansion. And those kids broke it. I can't get it to turn on."

Krissy glares, "those pieces of shit. Okay. Let's finish our lunch and then we'll head back to that dump to get them to replace the phone."

Adrien asks, "think they will?"

Krissy admits, "not willing but I may be able to convince them. We'll find out though."

Adrien never got to express himself as Adrien, really. So I figured that could be a really cute learning curve. And just so we all know, I don't care what side you are on. I personally am in the independent party. I'm in the middle of most arguments. But Buddy Brown truly is the shit.
