Kaminari was sitting in the passenger seat of the car again, his dark hoodie zipped up with the hood pulled over his hair. He was hunkered down out of view from the window, waiting for Dabi to come back from getting some cigarettes. The gas station of choice was one that Kaminari now knew supported villains, which really wasn't that surprising based on how the place looked.

There were hardly any lights on around the place, the only glow coming from inside where Denki could just make out through the large windows the silhouette of Dabi moving around.

The meeting had gone just fine, and Kaminari had scrapped on by with giving out as little information as possible that he knew. The person who did the most talking was actually Hawks, who seemed to draw attention even when he wasn't speaking.

They finished the first half of the meeting before Hawks left for his patrol, which surprised Kaminari. They just let him go and be a hero while he was supposed to be working for them? Although, Hawks probably was pulling some kind of double agent stunt, or at least Kaminari hoped he was. The second half of the meeting consisted of discussing the next plan of attack, just defining some stuff again and making sure that everyone understood their roles.

Believe him, Kaminari knew full well what he was supposed to do in the plan. How much he wanted to do it was another thing. He had half a mind to tell someone beforehand, but he knew that they would know if Kaminari told anyone.

The weight of his phone was heavy in his hand, and he itched to give in, but he was stopped by the sight of Dabi returning towards the car. Unfortunately, the words still on his mind made it out of his lips, to probably the worst person that they could have.

"I don't think I want to do this anymore." He said quietly once Dabi opened the door, moving his legs down so that Dabi could chuck the box of cigarettes into the glove compartment. "I mean, what do you guys even need me for, you have Hawks."

The thought of the coolest pro hero also being a villain didn't sit too well with Kaminari, but he wasn't really in a position to judge.

Dabi didn't respond right away, making Kaminari think that saying that may not have actually been the best idea, but thankfully he didn't get burned to a crisp right there in the car. Instead, the fire quirk user just turned to look at Kaminari, his eyes sharp for just a moment before they seemed to soften ever so slightly.

"I'd watch who you let hear that." Dabi finally spoke, after taking the time to light one of the newly purchased cigarettes and rest it between his lips as he started up the car again. His eyes weren't directed at Kaminari anymore, but it still felt like he was staring at him.

Taking that as a sign to shut up for a bit, Kaminari directed his attention elsewhere, scanning the inside of the car out of boredom. Surprisingly it was pretty clean, with just a few bits of garbage on the floor and random things shoved into the divider. It did smell pretty heavily like smoke though, which honestly wasn't surprising.

In his little visual search around the car, Kaminari's eyes caught something that intrigued him. He knew he probably shouldn't ask about it, but he was terrible at keeping quiet for long.

"Are you and Hawks like, a thing?" Ha asked in a slightly teasing tone, leaning towards the slightly rolled open window as Dabi exhaled his cigarette smoke.

"That's none of your business."

"Right, right, sorry." Kaminari quickly backtracked, putting his hands up in mock surrender for a moment before tucking them back into his sweatshirt. He could obviously see the red feather hanging from the rearview mirror, but of course, he wouldn't say anything if Dabi didn't want him to press it. He did have some sense of self preservation.

Returning to their previous silence, it wasn't much longer till they arrived at the final destination for the night. On the days that Kaminari would come out to these League meetings, it would be too late for him to get home on public transportation, so it was decided that he would be allowed to sleep on Dabi's couch with the condition that if he ever spilled the location, he would very promptly get an early cremation.

They had done this enough times that the entire exchange was routine, so most of the rules and expectations were already spoken about, and Kaminari had found out pretty quickly that Dabi wasn't keen on repeating himself. He wasn't hurt or anything, but Dabi made it clear that he could care less what happens to him and wasn't afraid to stop providing these things if Kaminari was too much of a pain.

On the one hand, it was kind of nice to know that a villain wasn't overly invested in him, but on the other hand, it did make sleeping a little difficult the times that he had to stay here. Honestly though, it was better than the other options.

Dabi was a little weird sometimes, but not bad weird. Sometimes he would ask things about Todoroki, but they weren't like, creepy villain questions like the ones that the League would ask to get information. Usually they were along the lines of inquiring about his overall mood or asking how his quirk development was coming along. One time he asked if Todoroki ever talked about his other siblings, and for some reason looked disappointed when Kaminari had to admit that he really hadn't ever heard anything from him.

Could he think too hard about that and start coming up with weird theories as to why that might be? Yep. Was he going to? Nope, Kaminari definitely did not want to open up that can of worms. He was deep enough into it as he was. He would just do what he was told, quietly put his backpack on the floor next to the couch and attempt to fall asleep in the apartment that stank of antibacterial cleaner and dying body.

There wasn't anything in the hero course textbooks that talked about what to do in situations like this. Or maybe they did, he probably just wasn't able to pay attention.

Dabi woke him up fairly early, so that Kaminari would be able to take the first train home and get out of his way as soon as possible.

Stopping in the station bathroom after getting off at his stop Kaminari needed to change his clothes. The sweatshirt smelled like Dabi and the League, which was honestly pretty disgusting and almost made Kaminari gag as he peeled it off himself and shoved it into the backpack with the other things he had also been wearing. He'd take that back to school tomorrow and wash it there; they asked less questions about smelly clothes.

Hoisting the strap onto his shoulder Kaminari headed out, greeting his parents when he arrived back home. He made some joke about being tired because the Bakusquad stayed up all night playing games and watching movies, allowing him the excuse of being able to stay in his room for the day to sleep more and catch up with homework. Tomorrow was Monday, and he had to shake off the weird way that being around the League made him feel in order to be the Kaminari that everyone knew him as.
