The next morning Kaminari woke up feeling well rested, slowly blinking as his eyes adjusted to the warm morning light filtering into the room from the window. The effects of his short circuit had finally worn off, and feeling was restored all the way down to his fingers and toes.

He wasn't expecting it, but looking over to his side he noticed that his phone was still propped up against the edge of the bed and the call with Shinsou was still going. He'd expected him to probably hang up once Kaminari was asleep, but no, that wasn't the case. He could see part of a kitchen in the background, with a bowl and spoon sitting close to the phone screen.

Shinsou's back was turned as he was digging through the fridge for something, and Kaminari could hear him talking to someone off screen. Something about school being cancelled for the day, if he heard correctly. Great, he'd definitely need a day off before he'd be able to function normally again.

After getting the milk out Shinsou turned around, placing the jug down just as he noticed that Kaminari was awake again. He didn't really show a lot of emotions on his face, but Denki could tell that his expression brightened just a little bit when he saw that he was awake.

"Morning. How are you feeling?" Shinsou asked, and Kaminari instantly brightened up. It still amazed him how quickly he was able to make Shinsou feel comfortable asking him questions, which was something not all of class 1-A had the luxury of. It meant that he had Shinsou's trust. He chose not to think about how he was hiding such a big secret from his friend, and instead smiled as he sat up and stretched.

"Great, and even better now that I think I heard you talking about no school today." He said with a laugh. He was actually feeling pretty good now despite everything that had happened the day before.

"Of course." Shinsou replied with a joking roll of his eyes before pouring the milk into his cereal.

"I'll let you eat, talk to you later."

Just after Kaminari hung up the call with Shinsou the nurse came in to change his dressings, giving him all the proper aftercare instructions and sending him on his way once he had gathered all of his things. Since there wasn't any school, Kaminari was already forming what he wanted to do, and that included temporarily avoiding his friends for the day.

It was early enough that he hoped he could just sneak back into the dorms without anyone noticing so that he could just take the day and zone out while watching Netflix the whole time. So much for that though when he rounded the corner of the common room to see Bakugou making his breakfast already. Made sense though, he did go to sleep pretty early.

Kaminari would have to walk past him in order to get to his room, so it was only a matter of time before he heard Bakugou call him by one of his nicknames.

"Hey, Dunceface."

"Oh, hey Bakugou!" Kaminari swerved and turned towards his friend who was leaning up against the shared kitchen's counter, definitely trying to make it look like he wasn't originally intending on trying to sneak past him.

"You good?" Bakugou asked rather bluntly and though it seemed a little contrary to the way that he had his arms crossed, Kaminari knew that was just his way of showing concern. "Figured your ass would be shaken from those shit bags."

"Ah.. well, I mean I don't remember much cause I was zooted y'know." Kaminari replied with a light shrug, noticing how his friend's eyes seemed to linger on his bandaged arm. They didn't talk about it anymore, but if anyone knew what it was like to be that close to the flame villain it was Bakugou. Kaminari would never tell him that he willingly slept in Dabi's apartment two nights ago. "I'll be fine." He finished with a convincing smile, "Thanks for the concern though."

"Yeah? Good. Fuck off then." Bakugou turned back to the food he was making, giving Denki the cue that their conversation was over because he deemed his answer satisfactory.

"Good morning to you too, Bakugou!" Kaminari turned on his heel at his dismissal, calling over his shoulder with a quiet laugh before heading to his room. It was kind of nice that already two of his friends had asked how he was doing, but it also made Kaminari feel a little guilty. After putting his stuff away he'd have some of his stashed snacks and Gatorade for breakfast, since seeing both Bakugou and Shinsou eating made him hungry.

Grabbing his laptop he plopped down onto his bed, tucking his feet up as he opened it to do a little research. The nervousness from yesterday was beginning to creep up on him, and before he let it get too bad he wanted to try and do something to stop it. Hence googling Hawks' agency and looking for a number that he could contact.

Though he was a little apprehensive, who wouldn't be when contacting the current number two hero, Kaminari felt like talking to Hawks would be his best bet when it came to getting help. Hawks was a part of the League or at least somewhat involved with them, not to mention also connected on a possible personal level with Dabi. Kaminari wasn't blind, obviously, but he knew whatever that relationship was, it was big time illegal. So he'd keep his mouth shut tight about it. Anyway, that all meant he understood what Kaminari was going through.

He found a phone number easily on the agency's website, pulling out his cellphone in order to make the call. He gathered himself with a little nervous breath before pressing the call button, holding the phone up to his ear. On the second ring a woman picked up, pleasantly informing Kaminari that Hawks was stopping by the school that day to talk to his intern Tokoyami and also some of the pro heroes on campus.

That was enough information for Kaminari, he'd probably find Tokoyami and tag along after him in order to talk to Hawks. He'd been ready to hang up the phone, but the secretary offered a step further and contacted Hawks herself to send him Kaminari's way since he was free right now. Kaminari couldn't imagine being constantly on call like that.

"Perfect, he's on his way over to you now. Have a good afternoon, Kaminari." She finished, Kaminari handing out a thanks in return before he hung up the phone. Letting it fall onto his bed he flopped backwards, being careful to not hit his laptop as he rolled over to stuff his face into his pillow and let out a quiet muffled scream. He'd been ready to talk to Hawks, but not immediately, and picturing the hero's face only brought back the expression that night with the League.

He didn't know how good Hawks was at faking emotions, but the smile he gave Dabi seemed pretty genuine. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to talk to him, but now it was too late to change his mind. Kaminari was going to get in trouble anyway, so he figured it would probably be better to get in trouble with the heroes than the League, right? At least the heroes wouldn't kill him.

Rolling over again Kaminari got up, quickly changing into a different sweatshirt and some comfortable joggers before slipping his shoes on. Hawks seemed like he'd be cool with Kaminari not dressing up to see him, so Kaminari went with a more laid back look. Besides being comfortable, the other benefit of a large sweatshirt was that the sleeve would easily cover the bandages on his arm. Grabbing his phone and his eyes, Kaminari gave himself one final breath to chill out before leaving.

Ducking out of his room, the common room still seemed as empty as earlier, with the dishes Bakugou had been using now sitting in the drying rack next to the sink. Nice, he wouldn't have to explain himself to anyone else yet. However, in the back of his mind a sense of paranoia was beginning to set in, suggesting that maybe Todoroki had told and that his classmates were now avoiding him. He wouldn't do that, right? Hopefully not, Kaminari would hate to lose his friendships already.

Shaking his head to shoo the thoughts away, Kaminari made his way down to the entrance of the dorms. Hawks didn't seem to be there yet, so Denki headed outside, just about to sit down on the steps and wait until he heard a familiar sound above him. There was no way he could mistake the sound of those famous red wings flapping rhythmically in the air. He turned his gaze upwards, seeing Hawks swoop down for a landing almost directly in front of him.

"Hey kid, how's it going?" The words were casual out of his mouth as Hawks touched down, pushing up his goggles into his hair. He had his jacket on, so Kaminari couldn't see if he had any injuries from the attack yesterday though he was guessing probably not. Hawks was in on it too after all. "What did you want to talk about?"

"Well, uh, it's about yesterday." Kaminari offered up, feeling already a little intimidated by Hawks' presence. It was funny considering the fact that Hawks was only a few inches taller than Kaminari, though most of it came from the huge red wings that sprouted from his back.

"Right, walk with me." Hawks' attitude change was instantaneous, and it unnerved Kaminari slightly. But he had already committed to this, and Hawks likely knew what he was talking about, so there was no backing out of it now.

Hawks started to walk away from the dorm building and down the sidewalk, Kaminari hurrying to catch up and follow beside him.

"So, what exactly did you want to talk about?" Hawks finally asked after they had been walking for a bit, creating distance between them and any of the surrounding school buildings. Kaminari wondered why they had to walk all the way out here to talk, but he guessed it did make sense with the subject matter at hand.

"I told Dabi I don't want to help the League anymore." Kaminari said after a moment of silence, his gaze going to his feet rather than the hero standing next to him.

"Ah- what'd he have to say to that?" Kamianri could tell that Hawks was looking at him when he asked, but Kaminari didn't meet his gaze, instead looking forward as he shrugged.

"Well he kinda threatened me but other than that not much."

"He threatened you?" This Hawks seemed a little more concerned about, finally stopping his footsteps as Kaminari did the same.

"It's a long story." Kaminari explained, glancing over at Hawks. Yikes, his yellow eyes were kind of creepy to look at. So bird like. "Yesterday I ended up overusing my quirk, and Dabi helped me up. One of my classmates saw it, and now they're doubting me. So I called Dabi, told him I didn't want to help them anymore; he basically laughed and said that I should thank him for the chance to come clean. Then I told him I didn't want to go to jail, and he told me that jail was the nicest thing that could happen to me if I spoke out, before hanging up." Kaminari could tell he was definitely rambling, but there wasn't really a better way to explain it.

".. The only thing I can say right now is that I wouldn't be too worried about that threat. I'll talk to him. He's the only one that knows, right?" Hawks answered after a second of thought, looking to get confirmation from Denki.

Kaminari nodded, though secretly in disbelief. Don't be too worried about it? And 'I'll talk to him'? What the hell does that mean? Wasn't Dabi a villain they weren't supposed to be associating with?

"He's the only one I told."

"Right. Don't mention it to anyone else, okay? Keep acting like everything is normal, go to the League if they call for you. Your safety is most important. We'll let everything die down, then I'll talk to Eraserhead and come up with a plan to pull you out and into protection until it's safe. Understand?"

Kaminari nodded again, swallowing thickly. He did not like the solution Hawks had, but then again, he wasn't a pro and Hawks probably knew better than he did.

"Great. I'll-" Hawks seemed like he was going to continue, but was interrupted by his phone buzzing in his pocket. He glanced down at it, pulling it out to glance at the screen before looking back at Kaminari. "Sorry, I have to take this. If Dabi says anything else, let me know, okay? I'll see you later."

Hawks didn't give Kaminari a chance to even reply before he launched up into the sky with a single pound from his wings, the wind blasting past Kaminari and blowing his hair into his face. Denki watched him go for a few seconds, before sighing and turning to return back to his dorm room.

Pushing the door to his floor open, he could hear the chatter of his classmates in the common room. Kaminari really did not have the energy to talk to them right now, but there was no way to avoid it. Walking towards his room, he stopped only when they called his name.

"Hey, Kaminari! Glad you're okay! You should come watch something with us!" Sero and Mina's voices overlapped as they motioned for him to join them, Mina patting to the open seat between her and Jiro. The sight of it did cause Kaminari to smile genuinely, if there was anything good that came of this it was that his friends hadn't gotten hurt like he had.

"Sorry guys, I'm still tired from yesterday. Maybe later though!" Kaminari replied brightly, hiding everything that he was currently feeling behind his smile. He could practically feel Bakugou staring at him from where he was seated next to Kirishima, but Kaminari refused to look his way again.

"Alright, dude, no worries. Hope you feel better soon!" Kirishima wished him well as Kaminari had already started to turn towards his room, giving the squad a half wave before closing the door behind himself.

Kaminari wasn't one to typically take naps, but after plugging in his phone to finally charge he pushed his computer aside on his bed and flopped face down onto it. Letting out a shaky breath he curled up onto his side, grabbing his pillow to bury his face into it.

The painkillers were starting to wear off by now, and his arm was beginning to sting. The pain prickled around sharply, Denki being unable to put it from his mind. He squeezed his eyes closed tighter as he could feel them start to water with tears, struggling to breathe normally and not cry when he knew all of his friends were just outside his door.

Why did he have to go through this? It wasn't fair. He wanted to be a hero because it sounded fun, now his life couldn't be farther from fun right now. He just wanted to be able to go hang out with his friends and not fear for his life.

How could Hawks do something like this and act so chill all the time? He didn't even seem to be alarmed that much. Was being a pro so different than he had originally thought?
