Alycee's POV
As promised, Master Windu took me to the healing wing. It was a bright white, and very similar to the infirmary on my master's warship.
The biggest difference was it had cylindrical pods filled with a liquid substance, instead of beds and machines.
I looked at Master Windu. "You won't be going in one of the bacta tanks today. I hope not anyway."
"Master Windu, good to see you. Is this young Alycee?" A woman asked.
"Yes, Master Che."
"I'll take her from here." She said. I looked back at Windu. This woman wasn't nearly as scary as he was, but still intimidating.
"Go on, Master Che won't hurt you," Windu reassured.
I followed behind her timidly. Not sure if I should trust her.
Turns out, after everything, she didn't hurt me. However, she did look disappointed in me. "Your very small for you're age, Alycee. Have you eaten a proper meal lately?"
I shook my head no. And dared to speak my first words since arriving. "Mom and dad only ever gave me a slice of bread, occasionally a protein bar," I responded.
She shook her head. "That's hardly enough food for a growing girl. Well, I know I can't force you to eat anything, but, I do want you on a higher calory diet. And access to food whenever you are hungry, at least until your a healthy weight. do you understand?"
I nodded. She wrote a note to Windu and forwarded the same note to my master. "Also, Alycee, your severely dehydrated. I'm not sure how you'll react to needles, but I'm not going to chance scaring you on the first visit, so I'll send you with a pack of electrolyte drinks that I want you to carry with you, they'll last you the entire week, and one should last you a day."
I nodded. And Master Che sent me on my way with everything I needed. I met back up with Master Windu.
"How'd it go?" He asked.
I shrugged in response and handed him the note she had written.
"Would you like to meet some of the other council members?" Windu asked.
I looked at him curiously. I wasn't aware the Jedi had a council.
"Yes, there is a council. Myself and your master are a part of it." He explained.
Oh, I guess that made sense. I wondered if only council members were allowed to train padawan learners. Then I remembered Anakin who I didn't think was a council member, and he had a padawan.
I nodded my head in agreement. I then followed Master Windu to the chamber the council met in.
Alycee's POV
Honestly, the council meeting wasn't at all what I was expecting. I'm honestly not quite sure what I was expecting.
I followed Master Windu back to his living dorm. I crashed on the bed I was temporarily sleeping on. All this new information was exhausting.
My dreams, however, were not pleasant. I was now afraid that my sister, Emma, who organized my escape and rescue, was in danger.
I did dismiss it as just a dream. I woke up, and Master Windu looked like he had something important to say. "I'm afraid I'm being dispatched to a mission that's not very suitable for a padawan with no training. I'll be leaving you with Senator Amidala, per your master's request."
I nodded.
Padme's POV
I was getting ready to meet Obi-wan's new apprentice. I had been debriefed on her medical situation, as well as a few other things about her.
"3PO, is everything ready for Alycee's arrival?" I asked.
"As ready as we can be, mistress."
I sighed. I knew nothing of her past. Then again, neither did anyone else. I heard a knock on my door. "That must be Windu," I muttered. I went to open the door. It was, with the new temporary resident.
"Senator, thank you for agreeing to look after Alycee." He said.
"It's no problem. I look after Ashoka all the time when Anakin can't bring her on missions." I replied.
Master Windu raised his eyebrow. "So, she wouldn't be the first padawan you've watched?" He asked.
"I know how to do this. I doubt Obi-wan would have trusted me if I didn't." I replied confidently.
Master Windu sighed. "Very well. Do keep in mind she's very timid, and quiet. She's not spoken a word with me since she got here."
I nodded. I knew lots of people who are like that in new situations, and Alycee was just thrown into an entire new life.
"Of course, Master Windu. I'll keep that in mind."
