Here's a short chapter...
Omsk:
I hadn't said another word for the rest of the day.
The dream had left me shaken to my core.
I could feel anger radiating off of Bucky as he drove. He had stopped in the next town, and disappeared for over two hours, leaving me at a small dining place.
Nat had called me and asked how I was feeling before informing me that there had been an attack at the tower and everyone was on edge.
I didn't tell her what was going on or that I had found out I truly was pregnant. Only telling her that I had gotten food poisoning and felt a little off but was otherwise alright.
Before she hung up she asked me to please be careful, and promise to stay in contact. Which I did.
When Bucky got back, I had eaten only half of my food, and drank six glasses of water.
"What's wrong?" He asked as he slid into the booth in front of me.
"Nothing. I'm going to go to the bathroom, and then we can leave." I muttered, dropping the money onto the table before walking past him.
When we finally arrived in Omsk the tension between us was practically palpable.
Now, as we sat across the room, no words were exchanged.
Our staring contest was interrupted by my phone ringing.
I looked away, standing quickly and snatching my phone from the table before walking into the bathroom and slamming the door behind myself.
"Barton." I answered tensely.
"Agent Barton." Fury replied, tensely.
"Sir." I replied, staring down at my hands.
"Mission report. How are things going between you and Barnes? Have you reached Omsk yet?" He asked.
"Things between us are… strained but we'll live. We've only just arrived in Omsk as of an hour ago." I replied.
"The contact informed me that he has placed all the information within a flash drive. The meeting will be brief." He said.
"We plan to go soon." I informed him.
"Keep me posted." He replied.
"Will do." I replied, before we hung up.
As soon as we hung up, I put the phone in my pocket and moved towards the sink to wash my face.
A knock startled me as I dried my face.
"Hey, are you alright?"
I sighed, shaking my head as I opened the door. "Yes, perfectly fine. We need to go meet the contact." I replied as I pushed past him.
I heard him mutter something under his breath before he turned and followed me into the room.
"Doll, we need to talk about what happened earlier today." He said.
I ignored him, as I slipped off my clothes and pulled out my stealth suit. Slipping it on before bending down to slip my boots back on.
"I don't know what you want me to tell you." I replied as I began braiding my hair away from my face.
"Why would you hide something like this from me? I thought we could trust each other." He said, as he slipped off his jacket and sweater.
"What did you want me to say? 'Oh, I've been having weird dreams since the day you railed me on the balcony in Munich'?" I asked, with an eye roll.
He snorted, before shaking his head at me, as he switched his clothes out.
"I guess that would sound weird." He admitted.
I snorted, rolling my eyes at him as I began to put the weapons on the suit, before grabbing my clothes and shoving everything else back into my bag.
"Just how dangerous do you think this is going to be?" He asked, as he adjusted his belt and started doing the same.
"You never know." I muttered.
Especially when dealing with double agents like Karl Fischer.
"You need to stay behind me at all times." He finally said.
"James, I'll be fine. I've been pregnant for a while now… and have been on missions. A lot of them. I am fine. I will be fine." I said exasperated.
"I get that. I do. But give me peace of mind by doing this for me. Otherwise, I won't be able to focus." He replied tensely.
"If it means that much to you. Fine." I conceded, before turning to look at him.
"Though, you do realize Fury sent me here because he knew beforehand that Fischer trusts me, right?" I added, with a smirk.
"Of course, he did." He muttered in defeat.
"Relax Daddy Barnes. We'll be fine as long as Fischer doesn't pull some sneak shit like he did last time." I said, patting his cheek hard as I made my way towards the door.
"You're going to pay for that comment later." He replied, smacking my ass as he passed by, causing me to squeal, as he took our bags
We quickly made our way to the car, with our bags, before we drove a few miles out.
We parked by the docks, and slowly made our way into the place Fischer told us.
He was waiting by himself near the back of the building, with two men.
"At last." He said as he looked up at us.
"Karl. We're here for what you promised." I said, as Bucky shifted slightly.
"Marie Barton. I didn't expect you to bring the Winter Soldier with you…" he commented as the men behind him shifted uncomfortably.
"He is here to make sure you hand the information over to us. Now are you going to hand it willingly or is he going to make you?" I asked, as I saw a movement from the corner of my eyes.
"Chto-to ne tak." I whispered, touching Bucky's upper arm. (Something is wrong.)
"You may have noticed that I brought a few men with me. As a means of protection. They're also here to make you come with us if needed." Fischer said with a nasty smirk.
We both tensed as we heard footsteps move closer to where we were.
"Shall we begin?" He asked as he pulled out a familiar looking red notebook. "Toska, Rzhavyy, Semnadtsat'."
"Those won't work." I said, shaking in anger.
"We'll see about that, won't we? Rassvet, Pech', Devyat', Dobrokachestvennyy, Vozvrashcheniye domoy, Odin, Grozovoy vagon." as he circled around us.
Bucky stared angrily at him before he suddenly stiffened. "Ya gotov otvechet." He replied, stoically. (Ready to comply.)
What in the hell?
"Soldier. We've been waiting for you…" Fischer said, smiling gleefully.
As he spoke, I felt anger sweep me like a heat wave, falling over me and I lifted my hands and twisted them in the air, watching in shock as everyone around us fell after their necks snapped harshly.
I gasped in horror, feeling as someone pulled me out of the building.
"Come on, we have to go!"
My eyes stared blankly towards the bodies as I felt myself get lifted, before I was facing upside down.
As the cold air hit my face, I felt my eyes blur, as I sank to the ground.
"Hey? Hey? Arie! Doll, come back to me. Come on, baby. I'm here. I'm fine, baby." I heard as I felt a hand touch my face.
I blinked at the sensation before looking up to see Bucky kneeling in front of me, an anxious expression on his face.
"You're ok?" I asked, in a small voice.
"Yes, doll, I'm fine. Are you alright?" He asked as he pulled me towards him, checking for any type of injury.
I nodded, biting my lip, as I felt more tears fall.
He sighed in relief, before turning to look back at the warehouse. "Look, I have to go back to get the USB. Stay here. If I don't come back in ten minutes. Leave." He instructed me, before handing me the keys.
I nodded, watching him stand to his full height before quickly making his way back to the blood bath.
He came back a few minutes later with a small satchel on his shoulder.
"Did you get it?" I asked without looking up.
"Yes, apparently Fischer had a lot more Intel than he let on. I also got the damn book, we need to destroy this as possible." He muttered as he pulled me to my feet.
"Let's get out of here." I muttered as I allowed him to pull me to my feet.
