A short time later we arrived at a town called Reykjavik. We quickly made it to the house, Zemo said, and entered, slowly.
"Relax. I am not going to do anything to you. You can trust me." Zemo said.
I scoffed, shaking my head, "Yeah the last time someone like you told me to trust them, I ended up having electricity circuiting through my brain for hours on end. Do you really think I could trust you?" I asked, feeling Bucky wrap an arm around my shoulders.
"Touché." He replied as he took off his coat and walked into the kitchen to pour himself a drink.
"I should kick your ass for doing that to my sister." Charlie muttered, as Zemo offered him the drink.
"Yes, but will that really erase it all? I can't undo what I did in the past. I can only hope to help and hope to gain forgiveness." Zemo said as he offered us all a drink.
"I need water." I commented.
"How about a Mulled apple Juice or a Jólaöl? It's non-alcoholic." He offered.
"Apple juice…" I muttered as I sat down on the couch, feeling exhausted from the constant travel.
"Tired?" Sam asked as he sipped his drink and sat next to me.
"Yes, very…" I muttered yawning.
"Why don't you go get some rest while we wait for our guest to arrive?" Zemo suggested, as he gave Bucky my drink and his.
Bucky walked over to me and handed me my drink before sitting down next to me, placing his hand on my leg.
"Are you hungry? It's been a while since you last ate…" He whispered as he sipped his drink.
"A little. I'm more tired, though." I mumbled sleepily.
"I'll send someone out for some food." Zemo said, as he turned towards the television.
A large boom filled the room as we all watched in horror, as Sokovia levitated in the air.
Our friends were fighting with what appeared to be a robot army.
Wanda, Pietro, my other brother, Nat, Steve, Tony, Bruce surrounded and fighting.
"We have to help them…" I said shooting up to my feet.
"No." Bucky said, grabbing onto my wrist.
"Mne nuzhno pozvonit' Onike." Zemo said, rushing out of the room. (I have to call Onika.)
I looked over at Bucky in fear. "Do you think they'll be ok?" I asked him, as he pulled me onto his lap.
"I'm sure they will be…" he whispered.
As we continued to watch the new development, I felt myself tense.
As my head began to ring and everything around me clouded before turning dark.
Vision:
"We've got to help them." I heard Steve say.
"Pietro is barely hanging in there. Bruce is gone, and Clint is in pain… How do you suppose we help them? Do you have a medical degree? Because I don't, the best we could do is get them to the nearest hospital." Tony said.
Nat stared at them, before shaking her head. "We are getting closer to the hospital. Quit arguing and help me make the request." She snapped before turning back to stare windshield of the quin jet.
I snapped out of it, and slowly sat up.
"Doll?"
"Clint's been hurt." I said looking at Charlie.
"What do you mean? What happened?" Charlie asked as he walked over to me.
"He was shot through the shoulder." I muttered.
"What about the rest of them?" Sam asked, standing up.
"Nat's fine. So is Steve, Wanda and Tony. Pietro seems to be the only one who is in grave danger. Bruce is gone, he's disappeared." I replied, as I felt my eyes begin to water.
"What exactly happened?" Sam asked.
"My family is safe." Zemo announced as he walked back in relief, doing a double take as his eyes fell on me.
"Good God, is that all you do all day? You seem to be crying all the time. You remind me of when my wi—" Zemo began as looked me over and scanned me from head to toe before gasping. "Oh my God!" Zemo said, as his eyes widened as he pointed between Bucky and me.
Bucky and I shared a look before briskly moving toward him and dragging him out of the room.
"I am going to let go of you now. If you scream, I'll break your nose." I said, looking him in the eye as Bucky held him back, and blocked the door.
Zemo stared at us before letting out a loud, "Ohhh!!!" Before I covered his mouth again.
"Scream again and I'll do more than what I did the last time I saw you. Am I clear?" I asked him, slowly.
He nodded, wide-eyed.
"You're pregnant?" He asked, shocked.
I looked over at Bucky before nodding. "I just found out yesterday." I supplied, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Wait, so you're married and expecting your first child? Ah, that's amazing. No wonder you two are acting like you just got married… Congratulations. Does anyone else know?" He asked, smiling.
"No, and we would like to keep it that way for now." I whispered.
"I understand… But that there is danger abroad, shouldn't you stay put and let the rest of us handle it? It is dangerous." He asked, concerned.
I shook my head at him. "What is it with you men wanting me to stay put? Since when did becoming pregnant become the equivalent to being invalid?" I asked exasperated.
"It's not. You women carry a great burden by risking your lives to make a new life. What I am referring to is all the action. I get that Hydra needs to be taken down, and I will help with all I can, but putting both your lives at risk so you can get some sort of revenge isn't worth risking the life you carry there, of your unborn child. You must put them first, Mariana." Zemo said, giving me a look.
Fuck! He was right. In my need to get revenge I hadn't realized I was putting my baby at risk.
"So, how is me sitting out going to help this situation? Bucky and I are trained for this sort of thing." I pointed out. "If I stay out, that lessens success by fifty percent."
"From what I gathered, you are also quite very skilled with technology. You can help by using that specific skill set." Zemo suggested.
Bucky bit his lip as he looked anywhere but at me, amused. Jackass.
"You put him up to this didn't you?" I asked him.
"Oh yes. I called him last week and asked him to talk to you about a pregnancy we didn't even know of yet… Yes, that's exactly what I did." He said, sarcastically.
"Look, he didn't say anything, I simply made my own conclusions. I do have a wife and a son, you know?" Zemo pointed out.
I scoffed, rolling my eyes at them before turning away.
"Arie, come on, he does have a point. You could maybe stay here while we do the rest. You've done enough already, doll." Bucky said.
I scoffed, unable to think of sitting out."This isn't over, James." I said, as I pushed him out of the way, storming out of the room and made my way back to the others.
"Do we want to know what that was about?" Sam asked, raising a brow at me.
"It's nothing. Leave it alone, Sam." I muttered, snatching my drink off the counter and downing it before making my way into one of the bed rooms.
Bucky's POV:
"Fuck… she's going to be so pissed that we're doing this to her." I muttered, rubbing the back of my neck.
"Would you honestly have her be angry with you and safe, or risk her losing that child, that I know you both so desperately want?" Zemo asked, sitting down.
I stared at him for a second, shocked that he knew.
"Safe, no question about it. But she does have a reason to be angry… Taking down a few bases isn't enough for what they did to her… She should get a chance at revenge." I said.
"What exactly did Hydra do to make you and her so bound to revenge?" Zemo asked, curiously.
I stared at him in disbelief. "Are you being serious right now?" I asked, in disbelief.
He stared confused before his face lost all color, and he shook his head.
"No, I am well aware of what both of you went through. You lost your arm, and were tortured. Cryogenically frozen for years on end... While she… Well, she lost her innocence there, which was something that was never supposed to happen. You both lost countless children there as well." He replied, looking down at the floor.
I looked away, trying not to think of what happened to us while we were in there.
"Do you think that's not enough reason for her to want to bring them down? She wants to protect our child. We both do." I said looking towards the door.
"You should be more worried about what she'll do if she does go. It is clear she is scared. Tell me, James, can you really protect her from herself? No amount of warning can prevent the inevitable if she isn't stopped. Think about that. Do you want your revenge or do you want your family to be safe? If she goes, knowing her, she won't think twice to do something risky. I'm just saying if I were you, I would have already spoken to her about this." He commented, raising a brow at me before getting up and walking out of the room.
I watched him leave before hurling the glass in my hand at the wall. "Fuck!" I yelled.
I needed to talk to Arie. Immediately.
I took a few moments to calm myself before exiting the room and making my way back to where everyone was. Only to notice the person I needed to see the most wasn't there.
Fucking hell, she better still be here!
"Where's Arie?" I asked, calmly.
"She was a bit— how do I explain this?— ah yes— she was a bit pissed when she walked in." Sam said as he stayed sitting down.
"Where'd she go?" I asked, tiredly.
All three pointed, wordlessly, towards the door on the far left.
"I'll be back I have to talk to her…" I muttered, before making my way into the room.
