Thanks to Korra, Tenzin, Lin and pretty much everyone else, I did not end up getting arrested. Raiko had no choice but to overturn his rule that banned me from the city as basically, everyone said that unless he did just that, they would withdraw their support and he would be left without any help in his attempt to rebuild the city. It meant I could come and go as I pleased once more, which made me rather happy. There was a lot of work to be done, but before all that, we actually focused on an upcoming wedding which apparently began in the middle of the battle, when Varrick had asked Zhu Li to marry him.

I think the woman was crazy, since Varrick was a little crooked in the head sometimes and was more than slightly eccentric, but you could tell he loved Zhu Li once he'd finally realised what he meant to her, and I wished them every happiness. It was a beautiful ceremony which Bolin presided over, with the help of Pabu of course, and once the vows were spoken no matter how strange they were on Varrick's end, the bride and groom eagerly kissed one another to seal the deal, as they say. I'll admit, I shed a tear or two, but I always loved a good wedding.

Everyone was wearing their best, and I was no exception, wearing a water tribe dress similar to Korra's, but it was darker blue, had no sleeves and had a wrap around belt of fabric which cinched my waist in to follow the shape of my figure. I had helped out with the ceremony, making it snow on the happy couple with my bending whilst Bolin had lead the vows, and as everyone shared in the newlywed couple's happiness, Bolin and I grinned at each other. It was when Varrick started crying that I was set off, unable to help it.

There was an amazing fireworks display and I quickly joined everyone else as the music began, Bolin pulling Opal onto the floor for a dance whilst I grabbed Korra and Asami so we could dance together. I had a strange sort of feeling about those two. The way Korra constantly looked across at Asami, they way she sometimes blushed when Asami would look back or say something. I wasn't entirely sure, but it was enough to warrant my careful eye and a knowing grin upon the occasion directed at Korra who would pretend not to notice.

We danced together quite happily, Pabu jumping up onto Bolin's shoulder in order to join in and even Naga and Fang seemed happy as they watched, wagging their tails as they lay down next to one another. Next I danced with my cousins each in turn, Jinora and Kai also going for a dance as I lifted Ikki up into the air, making her squeal before Meelo suddenly jumped on my arm. "I wanna dance with Kanna!"

"Get your own dance partner, Kanna asked me first!" Ikki argued back and stuck out her tongue, grabbing onto my other arm so that I was suddenly being tugged between the two of them.

"Kanna's gonna marry me someday so we need to practice for our wedding!"

"Ew, gross Meelo, Kanna won't marry you ever. I bet she'd much rather marry me if she had to choose between us!" They continued to bicker and argue, all the while pulling on my arms and forcing me to hunch over like I had a crooked back until it started to hurt.

"Come on guys, I can dance with both of you it's not a big deal…"

"Kanna! Who do you love more, me or Ikki?" Meelo demanded, having still been arguing with his sister whilst I'd tried to calm them down, only for Meelo to suddenly shout, wanting a final decision. I gulped.

"Well…I love you both Meelo, how could I ever choose?" Laughing uneasily, I desperately sought out Tenzin then begged him to help me with a panic stricken look so he hastened over, using his 'dad voice' to get the kids to listen to him.

"Now, now you two, you're both old enough to be able to behave yourselves in these places. Remember, this is a wedding for our friends Varrick and Zhu Li, we don't want to upset them on their big day, do we?" He mediated, helping free me from the kids before taking Ikki up to dance with him, making her giggle so I danced with Meelo until the end of the song and he informed me he was going to raid the buffet table. Honestly, that didn't sound like a bad plan. Stocking up a plate, I wandered over to where Mako, Korra and Prince Wu were talking, mouth stuffed with some kind of meat. I had no idea what it was, but it tasted delicious.

Wu passed me after saying something cheerful sounding to the both of them, passing me where he suddenly halted mid-step, almost comically. "Hey there, the name's Wu, Prince Wu. That's a lot of food for such a little lady, can I help you with that? How about a turn on the dance floor with me to uh…increase the appetite." I just looked at him.

"My spirit friend over there will probably eat you if you tried." I told him bluntly, making Wu look over his shoulder to see Fang eyeballing him so he squeaked, growing timid and shrinking back behind me, using me like a shield so I laughed. "Don't worry, your highness, he doesn't bite. Much." That was all the encouragement Wu needed to get as far away from me as possible, and once he'd gone I headed over to Korra and Mako who had been talking but also observing my interaction with Wu.

"You scared him off so easily, how did you do that? I've been trying to shake him off for weeks." Mako informed me incredulously as I held out the large plate towards them so they could pick what they want.

"I just offered to introduce him to Fang, that's all." They blinked and looked over at Fang who was yawning before he then rolled onto his back to scratch and get comfortable before deciding to take a nap. They blinked. "I know, who wouldn't want to meet Fang?" We laughed together before Korra informed us she was going to get some air, leaving Mako and me to continue eating.

"So what are your plans now?" Mako asked me, taking one of the skewers as I put the plate down for a while.

"I'm going back to the South Pole to see my grandmother. We need to sit down and talk, because I need to tell her about how I plan to study blood bending as a medical practice. Then I'm going to come back to the city and study how to become a doctor so I can earn real credentials, whilst also putting forward the movement to allow blood bending to be practiced in safety and security. It's an art form that can't really be learned unless it's taught, and it's difficult to grasp so only a small number of water benders will actually be able to do it outside a full moon, but I know it can help save more people if we studied and tried." I said to him, slightly nervous to see how he'd react. "I know you're not exactly a fan of the whole blood bending, but I…"

"I think it's a great idea." Mako informed me truthfully, making me stop and look up at him in surprise. "You've already proven that blood bending isn't something to be afraid of. Sure we'll need to figure out ways to make sure it's contained and not a power that's abused, but I think if we worked together, we can find away." He said to me, making my chest grow tight with emotion.

"You want to help me?"

"Of course I do. It's something you want to work towards, and I see now that it can only be a benefit to the city. I trust you, Kanna. I know you'll find a way to make it work." Not knowing how much I needed to hear those words, I reached out and hugged Mako around the waist as he too put his arms around me. "Just don't disappear on us this time, otherwise I really will hunt you down with a full on detective mode." This made me laugh, feeling Mako rub my hair before I pulled away from him.

"Don't worry. I plan to stick around for a long time. Besides, I have to be close by so that next time something goes wrong or a threat comes to shake things up, Team Avatar is on hand to smooth things over." Giving a shrug, Mako smiled at me before he then invited me for a dance which I accepted, stepping onto the dance floor with him as the jazzy music played. He held my hand and twirled me, both of us pulling apart before bringing our hands back together, getting into the swing of the rhythm. I was surprised by how well Mako danced, Bolin calling out his brother's name brightly and soon we were all dancing together, Opal and I grinning at each other.

I noticed that Asami had gone over to Korra and Tenzin, saying something which brought Tenzin running back. Probably Varrick with his crazy idea to try and glide off the roof with a hand glider. Yeah, we can all see how that one's going to end. Zhu Li really had her work cut out for her with her new husband. For a while I just watched Korra and Asami together, smiling to myself. I couldn't shake the feeling that something was going on between them, whether they realised it or not. I think Korra might have an idea, since she was more open about her developing feelings, and I couldn't wait to see how that would blossom.

After everything that had happened, Korra deserved someone to be with, and Asami was one of the best people I knew. I couldn't help but hope for them to grow closer together, though it was tinged with a hint of sadness on my part, since I wouldn't be the number one person in Korra's life anymore. Well, we'll always love each other. We'd called ourselves sisters nearly all our lives, and that's how it's always going to be. No matter what, I'll always be there for Korra, even if everyone else walked away. She'd helped pull me through my darkest time without even knowing it, giving me a reason to keep on going and to smile again after I'd lost something invaluable to me.

"Kanna?" When someone touched my shoulder I was pulled from my deep thoughts, jumping slightly and turning to find Iroh standing behind me, and instantly I brightened, a rather odd yet natural happiness to see him uplifting me.

"Iroh!" I looked him over to see if he was hurt at all, but as always he was impeccably dressed and one of the best looking men I'd ever seen. "Were you hurt at all? Kuvira's men didn't get violent did they when you had to surrender, right?"

"I'm fine, although their manners were lacking, we weren't treated roughly." He assured me, giving me a smile. "You and Avatar Korra are the ones who faced much worse than me and my men. I heard about all you and your friends did. You have my deepest gratitude for your service and willing self sacrifice." He said, making to salute me so I smiled and took hold of his hand as it rose halfway.

"It was a team effort. Korra and I couldn't have done it on our own, and besides. What's the point in living if you're not willing to sacrifice yourself for something you love and believe in?" I reasoned as I held Iroh's hand between us in between mine, almost completely unaware of the fact I hadn't yet let go. "Truth be told, most of the time I just run around feeling confused and terrified. I didn't have a clue what I was doing, it just happened to all work out in the end."

"I'm sure you're being too humble." Iroh said to me softly as the music then changed, his eyes glancing towards the bandstand before they then returned to me, warm and smooth like honey and just as sweet. "Would you honour me with a dance, Miss Kanna?" I couldn't hold back my smile, feeling a warm flutter at his charming manners and wonder just how many girls had fallen for that natural politeness that Iroh used.

"I will if you promise to talk to me more casually. You don't have to worry, everyone's relaxed around here, so you can be too. General." I teased him lightly and I saw his lips quirk as if in amusement before his shoulders dipped slightly, no more strict and rigid as he lifted my hand in his and led me onto the dance floor as a slow waltz began to play. It was gentle and romantic, our steps light with a slight sway as other couples danced around us. Varrick and Zhu Li, Bolin and Opal, Tenzin and Pema, as well as several others. I found myself rather contented, growing into a soft lull with one hand resting against Iroh's shoulder as he delicately held my waist as if not wanting to be rude and hold on too tight.

"Kanna, I was wondering…if you would perhaps like to have dinner with me." Iroh offered, making me lift my head with a snap, thinking maybe I'd heard him wrong, but when I replayed it over in my head, I realised that no, Iroh really had asked me to dinner.

"Dinner as in…like a date?" I asked him, wanting to clarify. That was the first time I saw General Iroh of the United Forces Army and Navy blush, his cheeks colouring slightly whilst his ears turned almost beetroot red, and I couldn't help but think it was the most adorable thing I'd ever seen, though I didn't tell him that.

"Would you be more inclined to accept if it were?"

"I'd be more inclined to accept if you meant it to be a date." I parried easily, teasing him a little more before I chuckled softly. "Either way, yes. I would very much like to have dinner with you, General Iroh, sir." Now he was smiling too, relaxed and looking more at ease now, with loose shoulders and even pulled me a little closer so that we weren't so far apart whilst dancing.

"Just Iroh is fine." He murmured to me, making me cheeks warm as my stomach fluttered and I couldn't help but sigh softly as we continued to dance slowly together. Could life get any better than this? I feel like everything was finally falling into place. Now all that remained was my return south to see my mom and gran-gran, then hopefully, everything in the world will be as it should, and I'll be the most contented and peaceful woman that ever lived.
