Sayori's POV

"-HHHH!"

I found myself shooting up from my bed… only to jump up and hit my head on my bed roof, flopping back down onto the bed and falling right back asleep.

The second time I woke up wasn't as sudden though. I brought myself up again, groaning as I rubbed the part of my forehead that smacked into the roof of the bed, stopping only to yawn, stretching my arm out while using the other to cover my mouth while I tried to wake myself up from my nightmare from last night. That had to be one of the most bizarre dreams I've ever had, with all the killer robots and the time bending hourglasses, and that weird town of all those people I've never seen before. I sighed. Well, at least I'm back in my room now, with my dark purple bed, bed sheets and bed roof, and the orange wallpaper covered with faded drawings of cats and dogs to my left, and the purple walls with glowing dots and yellow moons I that I don't remember having before, the dark blue flooring with stars and a strange drawing of a black hole sucking in the sky and the clouds that was definitely wasn't there before, a light blue roof that was new, and a long red carpet that wrapped around the right side of the room that led to a upwards ramp with light brown rounded edges, and the in middle there was a diving board that hung over a giant pile of brightly colored pillows… did I ever own that many before? There was a short wooden dresser to my right and to my left rested a dark purple chair and next to that was a big bear plushie, which I know for a fact was a cow before, leaning on a light blue dresser closet with a rounded top, and beyond that in the far left corner, had a red wooden floor instead with a bright blue chest covered with yellow stars and moons, crayon drawing pasted above them and a red wooden desk covered with random objects, along with a red spinning chair that I certain I wouldn't have bought for myself since it was way too small for me, a set of blueprints I couldn't make hanging above it and other things sitting in the corner, like a lamp and extra wood planks…

I blinked and rubbed my eyes, but everything was still there. Then it hit me.

This isn't my room, isn't it?

But then, where was I?

I slid myself off the bed and started aimlessly wandering around the room, taking in the new sights around me. Just whose room was this, and why was I here? Last thing I remember, we were in that empty building, being chased by that zombie robot and Hat Kid…

I gasped. Hat Kid! Where was she? Was she ok?

I started frantically looking around in circles before the dark purple lit up door on the other side of the room suddenly opened up with a whooshing sound when I walked up to it, catching me by surprise. It looked to lead down to a corridor, although it looked too short for me to walk through. So, getting down on my hands and knees, I crawled over the dark purple, hourglass printed door mat and started heading down the hall. The floor was covered with this strange pattern of dark blue and light purple clouds with streaks of dark purple within them and light blue lines which looked to form the outline of trees. Circular windows were to my right which showed the night sky and streaks of purple light surrounded me that beamed down the hall to another door, which opened up into a much larger room. This place was huge! I had to take a minute to look at everything. The hanging monitor and machines to my left on the red wood wall, the ramp that led up to the bricked wall with another huge display screen and a massive, locked vault door that rested in the corner. There were all sorts of different machines and devices that were scattered around the place, including what looked to be a control panel with a pirate ship wheel attached to it and a bigger wooden chair connected to the ground in front of it. Hat Kid was sitting on a pair of pillows to my right, in front of a yellow box TV, using her umbrella to knit together a new cute little witch hat. It was purple with an orange and yellow striped band around the middle and the brim. Attached to the band was a pair of test tubes with purple liquid inside of it and purple bubbles occasionally popping from them. Oh, I never knew she could knit like that, that's so cool! I mean, I guess it would be that much of a surprise since she was running around grabbing balls of yarn off the street, and…

"HAT KID! YOU'RE OKAY!" I shouted, causing her to jump in surprise, clearly startled by my sudden outburst.

"Oh gosh, I'm sorry!" I quickly apologised, but she didn't seem to notice, rather her eyes widened, as she quickly slipped her newly finished hat on, ran up to me and hugged my waist tightly. I was a little surprised at first, but I was just glad she was okay. I guess she was the same towards me. I soon returned the hug, and after a few moments she stepped back, and I dropped to my knees to meet her in the eyes.

"Are you ok?" I asked her right away. She quickly nodded, and I breathed a sigh of relief. Good, I thought to myself. Now, I should probably ask this question next for the sake of my curiosity.

"So, where exactly are we?" Hat Kid thought to herself for a quick moment, before a light bulb lit up in her head, spinning around to point towards the massive windows that took up the entirety of the wall in front of the control desk in front of me. Beyond the window was… was…

I sped over and pressed myself onto the window, hearing a yelp of shock from Hat Kid. I just had to make sure what I was seeing was true! I rubbed my eyes to make sure they weren't making it up, but what I saw was still there. It was Earth! Like, the planet Earth! The whole thing, right in front of me! It was huge, and it was surrounded by all the stars of the night sky! Are- are we…!

"ARE WE IN SPACE!?" I screamed, not realizing how loud I was. I spun back around over to where Hat Kid was standing, who had her head tilted to the side a bit and raised an eyebrow towards me, seeming confused over why I was acting the way I was. It took me a second to realize why, but everything clicked in my head to figure it all out.

"Wait." I thought out loud, then I asked her, "Is this your spaceship?" Hat Kid nodded again, this time looking a bit proud of herself. But then, before I could even comment on that realization, more questions suddenly popped into my mind.

"But we were in that creepy building with that robot chasing us." I pointed out to her. "How did we end up here?" Hat Kid's expression then changed to a smug smirk as she pulled out a timepiece from her pocket, the hourglass growing back to it's full size. She held it above her head, before using her other hand and making a whooshing sound with her month to demonstrate us flying upwards. The timepiece must have brought us here. Wow, ever since we ended up in that town, all of this weird stuff has been happening to us. Any other day, I thought I would have been going crazy. Maybe… that would be better than how I usually am… anyway… Hat Kid gave me a concerned expression, which snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Don't worry about me, it's just… something that happens every once and a while." I tried to reassure her. I could tell she wasn't convinced, so I quickly changed the subject back to what happened earlier.

"So, we should probably put that time piece somewhere safe, so it doesn't get lost again, right?" Hat Kid perked up and nodded, turning around and running over a ladder which led up to the floor where the vault was. She pulled up to the side of the door, spinning the wheel that unlocked and brought the door open with a loud squeaking noise, revealing a dark room only lit up by the time pieces already inside. She casually tossed the hourglass inside, where it started dropping towards the ground normally before it started magically floating around inside the vault, landing softly on the ground in line with the rest of them. As she slid the door to a close, the monitor to her left showed the number of hourglasses we had collected going up from 7 to 8. She used the ladder once more to hop back down to where I was, and padded her hands together as she walked back to me, before placing them on her hips, looking pleased.

"So… what should we do now?" I asked after a brief moment of silence. Hat Kid crossed her arms, letting out a soft "hmm" while thinking to herself, before she snapped her fingers, coming up with a idea, and rushed back up the ladder and into a pair of light blue doors, disappearing into another room before popping back out, clutching a bright blue telescope her size with gold plating around it in her hands, dashing around to the ramp on the side of the room where I came in from, and placing it next to the large window separating us from the emptiness of space. I stepped over to her and she looked through it, shifting and adjusting it around before she gestured to me to take a look through it. I leaned down to peek where she focused the telescope on, which looked to be an island, filled with tall, white buildings surrounding a large tower in the middle with water shooting from the top of it, holding up another piece of the island in the air. I brought my gaze back to Hat Kid.

"This is where you want to go?" I asked her. She nodded confidently, pointing up towards the window where a pair of wooden planks were 'somehow' nailed onto the glass without breaking it. She then turned back to me, puffing out her chest and making a growl with her voice, before pushing her other hand with her fist with a 'boosh' noise, followed right after with a 'ksshh' sound from her voice, then she started pretending to fall over, like she was getting sucked out the window, flinging her arms arounds and acting like she was screaming, before standing back up and pointing down towards the planet in front of us. I quickly figured out what she was trying to say.

"Oh, I get it." I realized. "That's why you were falling from the sky when we first met, right?" She nodded, grinning and snapped her finger towards me, giving me a kind of 'bingo' gesture. But then, I suddenly realized a problem with Hat Kid's plan.

"Wait." I told her. "If the time piece got us up here, how are we gonna get down there?" Hat Kid's expression changed to a smug, cat-like smile, ran over to the window and ripped the boards off like it was nothing! I gasped, completely shocked as I watched her throw the planks aside, and open up a door in the window, exposing us to the vacuum of space! Only… nothing happened. We weren't being sucked out. Strange… I dropped my arms from what I thought would happen, and saw Hat Kid stepped up onto the ledge of the window, opening up her umbrella and gesturing for me to grab it. Confused, I slowly gripped the base of the umbrella, before Hat Kid suddenly grabbed my shirt sleeve and jumped out the window, pulling me out with her! I yelped as I felt myself leaving the ground and found myself with nothing but space under my feet, scaring me frozen as I felt my voice getting sucked from my throat, my gase shooting between the umbrella, where both my hands were lashed on tight to the handle, the spaceship, now with no one inside it but the rumba I noticed scooting around the floor earlier, and the black emptiness of the space we were now floating in, slowly drifting towards the planet growing bigger as we got closer to it. To my surprise, I still found myself breathing just fine, which I thought was impossible, but right now, that was the least of my worries. I was too busy losing my mind that we were floating in the middle of space, something I could tell was starting to annoy Hat Kid, given the look she was giving me now. Realizing this, I tried to keep myself calmer, but it definitely wasn't easy. I was just really hoping we would land soon.

It took some time, but we finally made it through the clouds, and we were able to get a better view of the island Hat Kid wanted us to go to. Now that we were closer to it, it looked a lot bigger than it was when I looked through the telescope. It was basically a giant circle divided into four corners surrounded by giant rocks and connected together by stone bridges. There were a few patches of grass and trees, but most of it was filled with white buildings and orange paths for people to walk around on, one of which had a broken fountain which was leaking into the ground. I could make out a sandy beach, a ship that was being loaded with large metal containers, an unfinished construction site, a set of wooden bridges being used as a docking station, a lighthouse, large red, orange and yellow hot air balloons and I'm pretty sure I could make out a giant piece of meat. A large golden statue of a man with oversized shoulders and tiny legs stood over the water, and the sign underneath it read, "Mafia Town, #1 in everything." Whoever these Mafia were definitely had a bit of an ego. Wait, Mafia? Like the crime gang? And there's a whole town of them?! That's not good! We better find these timepieces fast!

As we grew closer, something caught my eye. To the left of that statue was a pyramid of big TNT barrels surrounded by a bunch of guys that looked just like the statue, and they all had the same body build and clothing. They all had a light blue collar shirt with a pattern of dark blue lines running down it, a white shirt under it along with a red tie and a white apron with red text, light blue pants and black shoes. They were also all bald, with thick black eyebrows and a mustache. The guy standing on the top of the barrels also had something in his hand. It was hard to make out at first, but my eyes shot open when I heard the voices coming from that area.

"Quit It! What kind of man grabs an innocent little girl?"

"Child not innocent! Mafia see little girl punch fellow Mafia and steal fish!"

"I'm not going anywhere with you! Let go!"

"No! Little girl mess with Mafia no longer! Child need to be taught lesson!"

"I'm serious! Put me down, you big idiot!"

One of the voices sounded like an older male with a gruff tone. I'm guessing that it belongs to these Mafia guys, but the other one was a little girl, and she sounded like she was in trouble!

"Down there! We have to help her" I called out to Hat Kid. She looked down where I was pointing to, and tried to steer our descent down to land there, but a gust of wind caught under her umbrella, sending us back and causing us to drop onto an old, moldy trap, which tore open as soon as we touched it.

"Wah!" We yelped as we fell down onto the ground below. I landed hard on my butt, sending a wave of pain shooting through my back.

"Ow!" I winced, rubbing the part of my back that hit the ground. I looked over at Hat Kid, who was padding dust off her clothes. Pulling myself up, I discovered we ended up in a dead end alleyway, littered with dumpsters and trash bags, and with no way of getting around to where the girl was.

"Dang it!" I protested, looking for a way around, but I found nothing. I turned back to Hat Kid, who looked up at me with interest.

"Looks like we're gonna go the long way around! Let's go!" She nodded excitedly in agreement, and the two of us started dashing down the path in front of us, slipping past the other guys who were walking around the area, who turned to look at us as we ran past, but otherwise just went back to what they were doing. If these guys really were Mafia, then I really didn't want to know what they planned on doing with that girl. We had to make sure that didn't happen! I was so focused on hurrying to find her, I didn't notice myself suddenly leaving the ground until I found myself falling over and landing hard on my chest.

"Ah!" I groaned, clutching my chest. Pulling myself off the ground again and turning around to see what had happened, I saw one of the big guys leaning against one of the buildings with his leg stretched out.

"Hey!" I yelled at him. "You tripped me!" The man turned to look at me.

"Mafia was just stretching leg. Is not fault girl wasn't looking where girl was going." I wanted to say something else, but I knew we didn't have time, so I just sighed and turned back around to keep running down the path, only jumping onto the rocks to our right to avoid running into another Mafia member rolling a giant roll of meat speeding towards us! After the meat rolled past, we leaped back onto the path, taking a stone bridge that brought over to another part of the island. We didn't stop for some time, running until we found ourselves in the open area with the broken fountain. There were some shops to our right and piles of boxes, crates and other junk was littered all over the place. There was uneven a unfinished chunk of a fenced wall sloppy boarded up to where anyone could easily crawl through and fall down. A pair of black, rounded crows perked up when they saw us coming close, then started charging (or more accurately, bouncing), towards us with angry eyebrows, but Hat Kid readied her umbrella like a baseball swing and smacked it into them, knocking the two birds back before they exploded into cloud of smoke which vanished almost instantly. I was honestly a little taken aback by how Hat Kid just took those birds out with hardly any hesitancy, but I should probably deal with that later. That girl was still in trouble, and now I could hear her again, still arguing with the Mafia holding her captive.

"If you don't drop me right now, I'll bite!"

"Haha! That all you got? Mafia not sacred of little girl!"

"Okay, then fine! Your cooking is bad and you're a bad person! Now let me go!"

"UH! No one makes fun of Mafia's cooking! Little girl in big trouble now!"

"That doesn't sound good!" I said to Hat Kid. "We gotta hurry!" Nodding with a determined expression, we sped off down past a tall flagpole, but almost immediately ran into another problem. A single flat wooden plank leaning over the edge above a waterfall heading from the center of the island into the ocean surrounding it. The only other place for us to land besides water or rocks was a light blue springboard with a ice symbol on it attached to the fenced wall on the other side of the gap, and past the fence was a small patch of grass on the side of the building in front of us. I looked around for anything I could use to help us cross, but the plank was stuck to the ground when I tried to move it, and I was pretty sure I couldn't bring the giant meat resting in the corners of the shops over here.

"I don't know if I'm gonna be able to make that…" I admitted to Hat Kid. She thought to herself for a moment, looking over the edge and searching around the area, then snapped her fingers, turning back towards me with a confident grin. She spun her umbrella around to hold the top end, then held it towards me.

"What, huh?!" I questioned, startled and confused. "How come you're giving me this?" She shot an annoyed look at me, tilting her head to gesture over to where the other girl was.

"Okay, okay!" I quickly agreed, taking the umbrella in my hand. Hat Kid placed her hand to her hat, and swiped to my left. Suddenly, in a puff of smoke, the top hat she was wearing vanished, and a new hat took its place. This one was a red sun visor with white arrows pointing forward and a feather clipped onto each side. She took a few steps back, then suddenly dashed forward, faster than I've ever seen her run before, to the point of leaving smoke clouds behind her as she ran, before leaping over the ledge, doing a forward somersault in midair before landing on her feet onto the grass on the other side, spinning around and striking a pose for her accomplishment.

"Woah." I muttered to myself. That was so cool! But now I knew it was my turn. Swallowing the spit in my mouth, I readied myself and jumped as far as I could, opening the umbrella to slow my fall. I nearly ended up smacking into the wall of the building, but I was able to stop myself with my feet, and used the wall to help guide me to the ground, closing and passing Hat Kid's umbrella back to her, and she switched back to her Top Hat by swiping her hat away again before we set off, running around the corner and using the ladder to bring us down to the lower levels, dashing down the white stone stairs and grinding to a halt when we finding ourselves staring at the giant pile of explosive barrels with Mafia dancing on them carelessly. As I paused to catch my breath after so much running (Hat Kid on the other hand, wasn't tired at all), one of them noticed us standing there, and turned to face us.

"Hey! Child! Shoo! Mafia can't have child witness when Mafia teaching lesson." The man said firmly to us. Hat Kid didn't say anything, or do anything either. Rather, she just stared at the man for a moment, and the man just stared back. I was able to take the moment to recover my breath, but before I could say anything to them, Hat Kid suddenly blew a raspberry at the man, who was clearly shocked by this. I was a little surprised as well.

"Hat Kid! What was that for?" I said to her, but she simply just turned to me with a smug expression.

"This awkward for Mafia!" The man spoke after a short moment. "Mafia not sure what to do."

"Just let her go and we won't bother you anymore, okay?" I tried to tell them.

"What the?" The girl perked up. "I've never seen you guys before!"

"Little girl in big trouble. Mafia will not let child go! Not until child is taught lesson!" The Mafia standing on top of the barrels told me. Another man on the lower barrels spoke up after.

"Boss, what do we do with eyewitnesses?" He asked, still dancing. I also took the moment to realize not only did they have the same clothes, but they all had the same voice too. Was there something about these guys I didn't know about?

"Teach them lesson, boys!" The boss declared. The Mafia surrounding the boss stopped their dancing and instantly spun around, stepped off the barrels and started marching towards us.

"Come to papa Mafia!" One of them said, cracking their knuckles. Okay, maybe we have gotten a little carried away. I found myself unconsciously stepping back as the group of Mafia got closer to us. I was really hoping we wouldn't have to fight anyone again, but now it looks like we don't have a choice anymore. Sayori, you idiot, what did you think was going to happen, provoking a bunch of people like this. You think you would stop being scared after bearly that robot pizzeria with your life, but here you are cowering in fear again. I suddenly found myself about to trip over something, catching myself to see that I had gone up to a trio of white stone stairs that led to a patch of grass and a waist level wall and some wooden marketplace shops. Dang it, I can't keep running away like this! Swallowing nervously, I held my fists in front of me, but it was obvious that my hands and knees were trembling.

"Girl too sacred to fight Mafia! Hahaha!" I could hear a couple of the guys laughing at my attempt to look tough, and the worst part was I'd be lying if they were wrong. We might be roughly the same height, but they looked way bigger than I was and I could tell they were going to enjoy beating us up. Before they could reach us though, Hat Kid cut in front of them and leaped over their heads, the men spinning around to follow her through the air before she landed behind them, and turned around, holding her umbrella ready.

"She can jump!" One of the men shouted in surprise. The man up front lunged forward towards her, but she jumped back, causing him to drop onto the ground on his stomach. Hat Kid, while still in the air, brought the umbrella behind her back and with a forward swing, slammed it into the top of the Mafia's bald head.

"Urk!" The man yelped as he got smacked, but as he tried to pull himself off the ground, Hat Kid then leaned back and swung her umbrella like a golf club, hitting the man directly under his chin. He got flung into the air and landed hard on his back right next to the rest of his buddies, knocked out cold.

"Why you little…" One of the others started, before he ran towards, bringing his fist back ready to punch her. She slipped over to the side just as the Mafia's hand shot forward at where she was standing before, before she jumped up and brought her umbrella back to whack the man in the back of the head. The man was knocked forward, but kept his balance, spinning around with a sideways chop at her head with his left hand, but she dodged under it, leaving her right in front of him, where she then readied her umbrella like a baseball swing this time and slammed it directly into the mafia's exposed chest. The man's eyes shot open as he was completely stunned by the impact, the breath escaping his lungs as he slowly stepped back, bending over and clutching his chest in pain with his mouth agape he struggled to say something, before Hat Kid smacked him across the face with her umbrella. The man was knocked to the right before he collapsed on the ground, also knocked unconscious. She turned around to deal with the other two, right as another man raised both his hands up to bring down on her. She leaped back to avoid the slam and onto the barrels, before using them to boost herself up and jump right off the Mafia's head.

"OW! MY HEAD!" The Mafia shouted surprised, and tried to grab Hat Kid out of midair, but missed, and Hat Kid landed behind him. She spun back towards him, switched her hat back to the fast running one and started dashing around in circles around him.

"What the-!" The man uttered, spinning around and flipping his head back and forth, struggling to keep up with how fast she was going. Wildly, the man swung at Hat Kid, but by the time his fist reached where she was, she was already behind him again and jumped up over him again, slamming her umbrella down on his head and spinning around in midair to smack him across the face.

"Gah!" The man stumbled backwards, but managed to keep his footing. Hat Kid made an insulting face at him, sticking her thumbs in her ears and waving her arms at him while sticking her tongue out and a "blah" sound.

"Grrr!" A clearly angry Mafia responded, receiving a chuckle from Hat Kid, who took her umbrella and swung at him again, but this time, it didn't work! Instead, the Mafia suddenly started glowing red, engulfed in a weird, flame-like aura, and held his hands in front of him to block her swing. The umbrella simply bounced off of him now. Confused, Hat Kid tried hitting him again, but they just kept getting knocked away, and before she could figure out what was happening, the man suddenly grabbed her with both his hands.

"Ah-" She cried, before she was cut off by the squeezing of the man's grasp on her chest.

"I'm gonna take you down!" The man declared, before he picked her off the ground before he started reeling back, holding her behind his back

"Yah!" He shouted, tossing her over his head. I could only watch in horror as she flew across the area before landing face first. She yelped and screeched as she rolled across the ground and into the wall of the stairs, wincing in pain as she came to a stop.

"HAT KID!" I shouted, but she could only look up over at me as the two standing men started moving towards where she layed. Dang it, I can't just stand here and do nothing! Without a second thought, I quickly ran up to the Mafia man closest to me, grabbed his right shoulder and pulled him back, and as he spun around to face me, I brought my other hand back and punched him as hard as could in the jaw… which barely even fazed him.

Uh oh…

My eyes went wide, my breath gave out on me and I stepped back, my hands frozen stiff as I saw all I did just made him angry.

"Hrrgh!" The Mafia leaned backwards to hit me back and shouted "Blammo!", slugging me right in the face. I could feel the stinging from the second his fist struck me in the cheek, and I found myself leaving the ground again, falling from the fight area and turning around in the air to face the grassy area. I would have used my arms to help brace my crashing, but I was so overwhelmed with the pain running through my body that I didn't even notice when I was going to land until I suddenly felt myself falling face first into the grass, bouncing and rolling across the ground for a moment. The stinging coming from my cheek was unbearable, I never felt anything like this before! I couldn't focus on anything else! Even trying to open my eyes was impossible with what I felt. My hand was basically glued to my cheek, trying in vain to ease the pain while I tried to catch my breath, the air taken from me from the attack.

"Girl punch weak! Is no match for Mafia!" I heard the man yell as I forced myself off the ground and back onto my feet.

"Stand still! Mafia can't punch little girl if little girl run fast!" I heard the other one shout and made out the tiny taps of Hat Kid's feet running up to me. With a groan of effort, I pried my eyes open to see the two men walking towards us again.

"What do we do?" I asked out loud. Both of us started stepping back from the approaching Mafia, but it didn't last very long, since we hit the wall behind us, which going over it would drop us into the ocean. If we get away from these guys, what were they gonna do to us? I hated having to pray for a miracle again, but that seemed like the only thing I could do now. Thankfully, it was Hat Kid who thought up another idea, holding her hat out towards me, this time being the witch hat I saw her making earlier. I wasn't sure what her plan was, but I knew I had to trust whatever she came up with. Taking and putting the hat on, I jolted, and my eyes shot open as I suddenly had this weird… feeling, flowing through me. It felt… strong. Just what was in this hat? Feeling the warmth in my hands, I looked down and gasped when, from a puff of smoke, potion bottles instantly appeared in my hands.

"Woah…" I uttered, flabbergasted by what I saw. As I turned and shook the bottles in my hands, I saw the purple liquid in them start to glow. I looked back over at Hat Kid, who pushed her hair out of her face and readied her umbrella again, looking up and nodded to me with a confident expression. Realizing what she meant, I nodded back, and the two of us got ready to take on the Mafia. Bringing my arm behind me, I hurled one of the bottles in my hand towards the pair of goons, smashing into the face of the one with an aura, which exploded into a cloud of purple snake upon hitting him. The Mafia's aura disappeared and he stumbled backwards, before falling over onto the ground, unconscious.

"No way..." I thought to myself. "Yea, we can do this!" The other man stepped back, shocked from what happened to his partner, before turning back to us with a furious expression.

"No girl will stand in the way of Mafia!" He declared, charging at us and readying his fist for a swing. We both ran over to the side before he could reach us, and I threw the other bottle at him when he turned over to us, blowing up right in his face!

"I'm so confused!" The man yelled, stumbling back and trying to clear the smoke from in front of him, but when he did, he was greeted with Hat Kid jumping up right in front of him, and swinging her umbrella up right into the underside of his jaw, knocking him up into the air and flopping down onto his back.

"Yea, we got them!" I said to Hat Kid, pumping my fist up in victory. We stepped back up the stairs onto the rock floor again before I pointed over to the Mafia still standing on the barrels, holding the girl captive in his hand. "Now we just gotta take care of that guy!" The Mafia in question then looked down at us.

"ENOUGH!" He shouted. "Mafia won't bow to girls, big and small! Prepare to feel Mafia's wrath!" He dropped the girl, who landed on her feet and leaped off the barrel's, running away from the fight, before the man grabbed one of the barrel's he was standing on, which grew spikes as he lifted it over his head.

"Heads up, little punks!" He announced as he hurled the barrel into the air, aiming right for us!

"Look out!" I yelled, and both of us dove away from where the barrel was going to land, going in opposite directions and landing on our chests. The barrel bounced off the ground, exploding with a loud "boom" the second time it landed, leaving nothing but a black mark on the ground after the smoke cleared. This guy was crazy! He was gonna blow us all up!

"Do not think about avoiding barrels!" The man said, lifting up another one and tossing it at Hat Kid.

"Woah!" She yelped, leaping away before it could hit her, as it bounced into one of concession stands behind us, sending pieces of wood stuttering across the ground from the blast. The man kept trying this over and over again, throwing barrel after barrel in hopes of catching her in an explosion, and she kept jumping away every time. It was terrifying to watch, seeing her barely avoiding being blown up each time, knowing one mistake would be too much for us. After a bit, the Mafia changed things up.

"See if little girl can handle this barrel!" He said, picking up the barrel by the middle rather than the ends like before, and threw it at her again. She jumped away from it just like she did with the other ones, but this time, the barrel bounced after her. She gasped when she found the barrel she thought she got away from now suddenly above her again. She dove under it just before it could hit her, and kept bouncing around the circle of barrels… heading right towards where I was! I was horrified. What was I going to do? That was, until an idea suddenly, somehow found its way into my head. Summoning another potion into my hands, I threw it at the incoming barrel, which blew it up right in midair!

"Yes!" I shouted excitedly, but the manm while a bit surprised, wasn't done yet. He continued to pick the barrels like this, throwing them back and forth between the two of us now! I tried my best of get out the way of them whenever I was the target (Although I had a couple of really close calls), and throwing the barrels to blow the barrel up when I saw them coming toward me, which was easier than I thought since they bounced up the same height each time they hit the ground.

"Girls can't avoid barrels forever!" The man declared before reaching for another one to throw… only to find himself not grabbing anything. In fact, outside of the blast marks on the ground, there was no proof that the barrels were even here anymore.

"Gah!" He uttered, baffled by this, looking around the area where the pyramid once stood, before turning back and pointing towards the two of us, who managed to get back together.

"This lead nowhere! Mafia need to take of this Mafia style!" He announced. "Prepare to l feel what Mafia do to old ladies!"

"What?! You beat up old ladies?!" I asked him, horrified.

"No. Mafia take them for nice dinner date…" Oh. Well, I guess that's not so bad-

"And then Mafia beat them up!" He palmed his fist to demonstrate.

"Oh, that does it!" I shouted. "Hat Kid, let's take this guy out!" She nodded and dashed towards the last remaining Mafia, umbrella held tightly in her hands. As she ran, I quickly made and threw another bottle at him, which he saw coming and stepped aside to avoid it, the potion crashing into the ground behind. However, he was too slow to stop Hat Kid from running up, leaping up and whacking him right across the face, landing on the other side of him. The Mafia responded by throwing a downwards right hook at her, but she was able to slip behind him and struck him hard in the back of his head, sending the man face first onto the ground. He pulled himself back onto his feet and turned around to face Hat Kid, before charging towards her and throwing a pair of punches at her, which she had no problem stepping aside to avoid, each swing barely skimming by her head and she took the opportunity to swing to smack his exposed face twice more, one for each cheek. The man recoiled back, brushing his face off and becoming enveloped in that same red aura the other guy had, but this time, I knew what to do. Getting another bottle out and shaking it until it glowed, I ran behind him and threw it at the back of his head, getting him just before he could backhand my friend. He stumbled forward from the hit, reaching for the back of his head and leaving his chest open, which Hat Kid wasted no time slamming her umbrella into, sucking the air out of the man's lungs. Clutching his chest, he struggled to turn around to follow Hat Kid as she ran behind him, before his eyes went wide as he saw Hat Kid bringing her umbrella back like a baseball swing.

"DOWN WITH THE MAFIA!" She declared, before smacking him one final time in the nose, sending him flying away in the air and crashing into the water! I couldn't believe it…

"We did it!" I shouted, raising my hands into the air. Hat Kid clapped in excitement before I held out my hand to her, which she leaped up and high fived. Chuckling to myself in giddiness, I wiped the sweat off my forehead, which reminded me to give Hat Kid's hat back to her, which I did right after. She gladly took it back, switching it back to her top hat before placing it back into its rightful place and attaching her umbrella behind her back.

"Pfft. Can you believe them? What a bunch of losers." A younger voice said behind us. I turned around to find the girl from earlier looking down on one of the unconscious bodies on the ground. Now that I could get a better look at her, I could tell she was about the same size as Hat Kid. She had long, blonde hair with light green beads in them, and was wearing a light pink robe with a purple belt, azure shoes and a bright red hood clipped together with a gold star medal which she wore up. What weirded me out the most was the fact that despite being a girl, she had a mustache too, just like the Mafia. I wonder if she's related to them at all.

"Are you all right?" I asked her as we walked over. She turned over to look up at us with interest.

"Eh, I've been through worse." She stated nonchalantly. "Only reason I even got grabbed this time was because I got carried away." Before I could ask what she meant, she crossed her arms and spoke up again.

"So, what exactly are you two doing here? Mafia Town isn't exactly the safest place, you know."

"Oh, right!" I was so caught with what happened that I almost forgot why we even came here in the first place.

"We were just looking for a few things that she lost." I said to her, gesturing towards Hat Kid. "Have you seen any floating hourglasses around recently?"

"Oh, you mean those things that fell from the sky a while back? They belong to you? Then you're a bit late, aren't you? The Mafia have already been taking them up their headquarters way up there." She replied, pointing up towards the part of the island being held up by the gushing water. Oh man, how are we gonna get up there? The girl suddenly gasped, like she just got an idea.

"We should go up there and get your junk! It'll be fun!" She said excitedly, palming her fist. "I'll take any opportunity that involves messing up the Mafia! You with me, guys?"

"Of course! Let's do it!" I told her, and Hat Kid seemed to like the idea as well.

"Although…" The girl started. "It's probably best we wait until night. The place is always packed with those goons during the day."

"Oh… sure thing." I said. "But where are we gonna go until then? I don't think we can get back up to the spaceship with a timepiece, can we?" I turned over to Hat Kid, who shook her head disappointedly.

"Spaceship?" The girl questioned. "Oh, you mean the one floating in the sky right now? No sweat, I've got a place we can hang out for a while. The Mafia shouldn't bother us there. The two of you got any names at all?"

"Oh, yea." I stated. "My name's Sayori, and this is Hat Kid." I leaned down as I said so.

"What are you, like her mother or something?" The girl asked.

"Oh gosh, nononono!" I quickly corrected her, embarrassed. "I'm just helping her out, that's all."

"Whatever. Doesn't matter to me anyway. Just call me Mustache Girl." The girl stated.

"Alright, sounds good!" I told her.

"Well, what are we waiting for? We should get out of here before somebody stumbles across this mess." We nodded in agreement, and the three of us took off away from the scene.
