When Air Temple Island started to come into view, I began to grow nervous. Although I really wanted to see Bumi, Naga, Pema and Rohan again, I wasn't too sure how Tenzin was going to react. In fact, I'm not even sure I wanted to see him. Beside me I could sense Fang, lingering close to me and sensing my unease so he rubbed up against me to try and offer me comfort and I couldn't help but feel more settled with him nearby. As we neared, Korra called out to Naga who I could see down below. She sat up and wagged her tail excitedly, hearing Korra's voice whilst Pabu chased her tail, making me laugh lightly.

When Pepper landed Korra and I jumped down as Naga came racing towards us, Korra cushioning our fall with air bending before we both launched ourselves at Naga. She whimpered and whined softly as if she were scolding us, rubbing her head against the both of us as she didn't know who to greet first and tried to hug us both at the same time. "I missed you so much, girl." Korra said as I hugged Naga's neck as Pabu squeaked, suddenly appearing from Naga's tail to scamper across her back then jumped onto my shoulders, making me giggle as his fur tickled and he licked my cheek.

"We missed you too, Pabu." Meelo shouted for his parents, making me twitch slightly as Fang materialised next to me, making Naga growl threateningly at the spirit who growled back, both of them dropping down ready to spring at one another. "Whoa hey now! Easy guys, try and get along here. Naga, this is my friend Fang. Fang, this is my friend Naga. See? We're all friends here." I assured them both so they stopped growling in order to sniff each other, standing at exactly the same height then all of a sudden they both barked or yipped at each other then jumped, starting to play fight with each other.

"Looks like Naga finally has a friend her own size." Korra noted so I grinned at her whilst rubbing Pabu's head. When I saw Uncle Bumi walking towards us, I immediately brightened.

"Well, aren't you two a sight for sore eyes!" He declared loudly and flung out his arms, allowing me to rush into them as I called out his name. Uncle Bumi had really trimmed down in the last three years, air bending training obviously did him a lot of good. He looked great. "Bum-Ju and I sure missed you." Having hugged me so tightly I had been lifted off the ground, I smiled up at my uncle as Bum-Ju chirped, allowing me to tickle his neck before I reached up and kissed my uncle's cheek.

"I'm glad to be back, Uncle Bumi. I missed you more than anything." I said to him and he gave me another hug before he then did the same for Korra who rested her hand on his shoulder.

"It's so great to see you again, Bumi, and you too, Bum-Ju." Stepping away as Opal came towards us, I put my hand on her shoulder so that she didn't feel lonely or out of place, knowing that she was still upset about her family and home being taken. Who wouldn't be? When I heard my uncle's voice, however, I hid myself on instinct so when he came over, he didn't see me at first, focusing too much on Korra.

"Welcome home." He greeted her warmly, embracing Korra securely in his arms.

"I missed you, Tenzin." Opal then started walking towards him, intending to get straight to the point of asking for help to rescue her family, but when Tenzin looked up at her, he saw me standing behind her, hugging my arm and looking away awkwardly like I shouldn't be here, like I was out of place.

"Kanna?" Tenzin sounded like he'd lost his breath, staring at me with disbelief and started to reach towards me but I flinched away from him, unable to forget his face and the way he looked at me last time we spoke. Like I were a monster. Fang sensed my nervousness and discomfort keenly so he pulled away from Naga in order to growl at Tenzin, planting himself between my uncle and me to warn him to back off, seeing Tenzin as the source of my unsettled feeling until I reached out and touched his side.

"Hush Fang, it's alright." I assured him but he whimpered, knowing that I wasn't okay so he sat down beside me and let me rub his ears, shooting a look at Tenzin and huffed shortly to warn him off as Tenzin just froze. "We've got a lot we need to talk about. Let's start with the important stuff, which is Opal's family and Zaofu." I announced to everyone, wanting to ignore my uncle Tenzin for the moment. I wasn't ready to face him yet. I couldn't.

"Kuvira's whole army was there. She captured mom, dad, and my brothers." Opal said with upset as Korra looked down grimly.

"I thought I was strong enough to stop her. I feel like such a failure."

"No one expected you to handle Kuvira on your own. It's up to all of us to find a way to deal with her." Tenzin said to Korra with the upmost care and reassurance, smiling to her warmly. "We're just glad to have you back."

"Where's Bolin? He's not still on Kuvira's side, is he?" Bumi asked as he came over to me, Fang letting him pass as he sniffed him in order to stand with me, an arm around my waist in an affectionate gesture.

"I can't believe he would stay with her after what she did to my family, but we don't know where he is."

"If I know Bolin, he's probably already got himself out of there." I said to Opal in order to reassure her. "Bolin may have had strong feelings about doing good alongside Kuvira, but he's not an idiot. Once he realises what she's doing and how she's doing things, he'll scarper and get as far away as possible. Let's just hope he managed to make it." Opal insisted that we should all go back right now in order to save her family, but I persuaded her to wait for just a little while. "Maybe we can convince Raiko to send the United Nations army with us. That way, we can really take on Kuvira, take back your city and free your family. I promise, Opal. We will save them, we just need a little more time."

Opal accepted this, though I could tell she was still agitated and worried so I gave her a hug to console her. With things as tense as they were, Tenzin tried to approach me again but Fang stopped him, pointedly standing in front of him to block his way so he called out to me. "Kanna please, I just…"

"I don't want to talk to you right now Tenzin. If you want me off your island, just say so now."

"What? No, no of course not, but…"

"Then I'll bring Opal to her room to rest for a while. We're all tired from the journey." Looping my arm around Opal's I used her as my shield, walking past my uncle and she went along with me as Fang followed behind, snorting at Tenzin as he passed him. Once we were out of earshot, I loosened my grip on Opal's arm from where I had been too tense. "Thanks."

"It's okay, I guess things are a little awkward at the moment between you and your uncle." She said to me before continuing in an even gentler tone than before. "But Master Tenzin really felt awful after you ran away. I'm not sure how he feels about the blood bending, but I know he regretted making you feel like you didn't belong here anymore. You should give him a chance. Maybe he wants to make things right between you. Take it from me, at the end of the day nothing is more important than family."

"I know, and I will. Just not right now. I'm so tired, Fang and I have been running around the entire length and breadth of the earth kingdom and I've barely slept in the last seventy two hours. Before I talk to my uncle, I need some sleep otherwise I might end up losing patience too soon and say something I'll regret later." Nodding her head, Opal invited me into her room then smiled back at Fang, extending the invitation to him as well though she didn't know if he'd fit. In response Fang just shrank his size, catching up with us and walking at our side so that he was no bigger than a medium sized pet dog.

Opal was impressed, so as I caught up on sleep she fussed over Fang for a while who lapped up the attention before she fell asleep too, the both of us sleeping to rest and recover our strength, knowing that soon enough we'd need everything we had in order to fight against Kuvira and her army of doom.
