A/N: as always, feedback feeds me. Comments are life.
The girl staring back at me. I didn't recognize her, yet I knew it was me. Long orange-red hair that flowed down to my ankles, tan skin, and hazel eyes were my new look. Scars littered my body in various places as well. My skin looked sicker, as if this body hadn't been taking care of itself previously. That voice said I, eh they, oh whatever - the point is, the body is sick and exhausted. I'm stuck here for a while. I do not know how I got here, nor did I know if I could ever find out. I could feel the voice in the corner of my mind, like a cougar stalking prey. The odd thing about it is, it didn't scare me; it's like they are a second skin.
"Everything alright?" Amaya again.
I responded by grabbing the doorknob, slamming the door shut, and locking myself inside the bathroom. Fuck no, I was not ok. Sliding down the door to sit on the floor; I hugged my knees close. I'm in a crazy world, not my own. I have powers and a voice that won't leave me alone. Speaking of which….
"What is your name?"
"Call me what you desire, Mistress."
"Not helping."
"Why is this an interest?"
"I cannot keep calling you a voice when you're more."
I felt the being embrace me from behind after emerging from the darkness, pulling me away from the door and into its lap. The sudden gentleness of the being who spoke about eating the fairy surprised me, yet this body didn't flinch. We must have been allies for a long time because I didn't want to move.
"Ares? Hunter? Cassius? Caliban?" I muttered softly, unsure of how to handle all of this.
"You don't remember?" The being sounded disappointed. "How much do you remember, my lady?"
"For a being such as you, I wouldn't expect such mannerisms." I spat softly.
"Hey Witch, what are you doing?! Who are you talking to?!" That damn harpy fairy…
"Leave me!" I growled back, holding my head in my hands. "Drowning. I remember drowning."
"I am what I am, just as you are. We are beings of darkness; We cannot change this. However, this does not mean I cannot console an ally. You have lost your memories, yes?"
"From my understanding, dark beings do not embrace."
"I am unique."
"Tch, more like confusing."
"You may call me Hunter."
"See?! Like that!"
"Careful, my lady, one may assume you are turning into a fairy with that outburst." He purred while tightening his grip on my waist.
I rolled my eyes while extracting myself from his grip. Hunter confused me to no end. Murderous one moment, yet gentle the next. I'm not sure what to think of him. He helped me stand and pulled my hair away from my eyes. I looked up at him, but I could see nothing of him because the shadows covered his form. I raised a brow at his actions, but he only chuckled inside my head. Hunter then materialized a hair tie from somewhere and offered it. I snorted but took it, taking time to weave my hair into a simple hairstyle.
"What's my name?" I asked while looking in the mirror.
"Serafina." He answered with no hesitation. "Call my name if you need me, my lady; I am your loyal shadow."
He bowed low before returning to the darkness. I felt better, but I still did not know what I was doing here. I can only hope someone had a clue. Maybe I should ask the old lady? I took a deep breath and placed my hand on the doorknob. It was now or never.
AN - I never expected Hunter to have a sweet side! I hope yall enjoyed that discovery as much as I did!
