Same day elsewhere
Isul pov
"Oie lass poor me another will yuh." the maiden looked at me, wiping the pint in her grasp. "Usually, after a man has drunken as much ye have, I tell him to go home." she replied, "but the gods must have blessed you with a strong liver," she said, pouring and refilling my cup. "Or maybe your ale just isn't strong enough." half-witted, I responded. her eyes squinted as the red began to come to her face. "if you don't like it, you can always find another pub to lounge at, though I doubt you'll find another that offers yeh lodging and doesn't ask any questions." my rugged brow raised at the remark. "trust me, in times like these. people will take any ah manner of coin they can pocket."
As the conversation drew close, everyone could hear a loud squeak from the back of the tavern. Three men entered the bar, judging by their leather wear, and no sigil was insight. It was clear these were no knights as the three men entered. The most rugged and hairy spoke first. "we're looking for a thief," he said, observing around with a dark squint in his eye." oh really, and what does this thief look like?" cross-armed the maiden replied. "oh a shady looking fellow." he said slowly approaching the back of the bar. "took a personal treasure of mine been in my family for generations." he smirked as he then turned his attention towards me, I paid him no attention as I had no care for such foolishness.
"kinda looks like that trinket around your finger, old man." his gaze now entirely on me. "I'm pretty sure whatever imaginary item you're thinking off is not this one," I responded, taking another drink from my cup. "Nah, I have the memory of a raven, and I know what I'm seeing." his cheeks began to raise, showing a yellow smile as he spoke. "that's not yours," the maiden interjected. "he's a regular here, he's always had it" the moment she finished the hairy thug slammed his fist on the table, the veins on his slightly popping. "are you are calling me a liar?" he said somewhat unsheathing his blade." what do you think boys am I a liar?" "no, sir," one of the men replied. "you are." I retorted, "and not a very good one here. Take it; I do not need it anyway" I passed the small black jeweled ring down the table to the thug. It was a relic from a time long since dead, and I did not need to hold onto it any longer. Any meaning it once had to me died a long time ago. he looked at me with his fist clenched
"you have a death wish, ay do yuh?" "maybe I do. How about you do this old man kindness, shove a sword in my back, and get it over with." I said before taking another sip of my cup till empty. "otherwise, piss off," the rugged man shivered slightly with almost no reaction. His eyes widened before gripping the ring. "come on, boys, we're done here." he said as the thugs began leaving, however, at that moment. Something happened that I thought was nearly impossible. A light emerged from my hand as the symbol and mark of the brotherhood appeared on my hand once more. My eyes widened, and my heart began to beat faster and faster. "could it be? after all this time?" words could not describe what it's like to have been half-alive for so many years and in one's despair. A light of hope finally appeared. "actually," speaking as I rose from my seat. "I'm going to need that back." all of the men chuckled and snorted before the leader finally responded, unsheathing his sword. "how about ye sit back down before I make your wish come true" I smiled at his remark before lifting off my hood revealing my tied up white hair and the scar across my face before replying. "it already has." in the very next moment before the thieves could say another word, I gripped the knife in the sheath of my side. And through it with speed and accuracy into the leader's throat, piercing to the back. Blood poured like a fountain, and the light in his eyes went dim. before finally falling.
"anyone else wanna try?"
