A/N: And I thought I had enough AUs as is. XD I came up with two more that are somewhat similar to each other, this short being one of them. They both involve Ren growing up in the Satellite with Yusei and the others. I'm still working out the details of how Ren could end up living in the Satellite in both versions, but I know that this one (simply called Satellite AU) still has the same other OCs (Eric, Jazz, AJ, and Ellis) while the other will have major changes (not gonna reveal what 'cause I might be brainstorming writing it into a full blown fanfic...like I don't have enough of those X'D). Well, I can say I'm getting an idea for a possible deck for Ren and the others through playing the game Reverse of Arcadia. I think I have Ren's (mostly) figured out, so next will probably be either AJ's or Eric's.
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. That goes to the respective creators. I only claim my OC(s). Also, Ren's potty mouth as per usual.
Satellite AU- Trouble Magnet:
(Ren's POV)
I gave a low hiss when the swab was applied to the cut on my cheek. "F***!"
"That's another for the tally," Yusei replied.
"Shut up, that hurt! Why are you guys so obsessed with how many times I cuss anyway? You trying to tell me something?"
"Just seeing how many times until you grow out of it."
"...I hate you all..."
"No you don't. You're just frustrated."
"Pff, I'll show ya frus- shit!" I had only looked away from him for a second before he pressed the swab on another cut. "You waited for me to lower my guard on purpose!"
"Whatever makes you feel better."
I grumbled under my breath and let him finish fixing up my injuries. I had gotten into another little squabble after stumbling on a Duel gang's turf. Since I didn't want to attempt to duel my way out, I just threw punches and made a dash for it once an opening presented. Most of the cuts and bruises were due more to escaping than the actual fight. As I didn't want to worry my siblings, I went to the Enforcers' hideout where Yusei had been working on the Duel Disks when I stumbled in. Of course, seeing me all beat up, he went to grab the first aid kit they had in the hideout and went to fixing me up.
"I think Kalin would have been scoping that area out. You could have tried dueling until he got to you."
"Pff, I can barely duel my way out of a wet paper bag. I'd hardly last enough turns for him to even find us before I got beaten to a pulp."
Yusei sighed at that comment. I knew he must be getting tired of listening to me whine about my lack of skills, but it was true. It seemed like most of the time my deck tripped me up by having a whole hand of nothing but spell cards I couldn't use or even give me too strong monsters that I couldn't summon right out the gate. Even the times I do get a combo going, it got intercepted easily and I flop the duel right then. That was the big reason I dropped the invite to join the Enforcers. They'd have a better time uniting Satellite without my ass dragging them down.
"You're not a bad duelist, Ren. You just lack confidence," he said, putting away the medical supplies. "We only need to work on repairing that, and you'll feel a lot better about yourself."
"Hmm," I hummed in reply.
"But at a later date. Want to help me with the Duel Disks?"
"...yeah, I can do that."
"All right." Yusei placed his hand on my shoulder which caused a huge shot of pain, making me let out a low whine as I leaned away from him. "You landed on your shoulder wrong and didn't tell me, right?"
"Y-Yes."
"Change of plans. We're heading to Martha's."
A/N: So, guess there wasn't too much shipping happening in this short, but I'm still working on a few things with it. Going to try to get back into uploading a bit more regularly, starting with the rewrite of Dragons' Souls now that the main cast's HTTYD dragons have been figured out with a bit of help!
