Izuku's eyes crept open, a bright, blinding light beaming on his face. Man, he was sick of seeing that light.
"Hey! The kid's awake!" A nurse yelled, causing some UA staff to run into the room. They were Midnight, Present Mic, and Aizawa. Two of them had concerned looks, while the other looked sleepy.
"You got to stop ending up in here problem child." A voice sounded from amidst the scarf. His eyes bore right into Izuku's soul, seeing his reaction. Izuku put a hand behind his head and laughed.
"Don't worry about me. How's Bakugou?"
"He's still asleep. he's projected to wake up in a day or two. Oh, and you've been out for 3 days, before you asked."
Izuku's eyes widened at the 3 days part. Ah shit. Inko was not going to be happy about this one.
"Oh, and a letter got sent to you, stamp says its from the military base nearby." Aizawa said as he handed him an envelop. Why would Izuku get an envelop right now. Izuku opened it, and after reading a bit, muttered curses under his breath.
Recipient: Lieutenant Izuku Midoriya
This letter is to inform of you returning to active duty. There has been an incident regarding the Meta Liberation Army and a projected move towards a current classified facility a few clicks north from Hosu. You will assemble with other reserve members nearby and assist in the projected conflict. The mission will consist of stage 2 warfare, so get your head in gear and head to Alpha Foxtrot Tango within 2 days. You will be in duty for no more than a month, so be prepared. Get your gear and move out soldier.
Admiral Ishida
Meta Liberation Army have been creeping towards the possibility of an attack on key strongholds for awhile now, so they finally made a move. I wonder if Aoki will be in on this mission. Maybe I'll get assigned with him.
"Midoriya, does the message relay an information that should concern us." Aizawa asked.
"Yes, I am back on active duty for a month regarding a classified incident. Principal Nezu should have the clearance to access it. I need to go by tomorrow." He promptly beamed out of the room, leaving a confused Present Mic and Midnight, and a worried Aizawa.
"What does the brat mean "returning to active duty?" Midnight asked.
"Problem child is a lieutenant in the army. He's just been on reserve."
"What! How long as he served to reach that rank?" Present Mic replied in shock.
"Since he was 14. He was there in the scuffle during Italy awhile back. Apparently he did good enough in that battle to earn him respect amongst his peers, or so I'm told from someone currently in service."
Midnight and Present Mic gaped at this. How could this kid have served in the military, during a temporary battle with Italy nonetheless.
With Izuku, he was currently being wrapped in a hug by Inko, who was crying waterfalls that he was summoned back to service. He gently patted her back and said comforting words. He then proceeded to pack his bags and head for the base, beaming back and forth until he arrived.
He arrived at the door and stood in salut as Admiral Ishida walked to him.
"At ease, soldier. Head to tent 5, you'll meet your fellow operatives for this assignment as well as a quick briefing on your tasks."
"Hie! Ishida-sama!" He said as the admiral walked by. Ishida was getting close to retirement now, but he still is as great as his glory days. His quirk allows him to redirect and control any attack. It's like telekinesis, but more specific.
He beamed over to the tent and opened it up to find 6 other people in there. He recognized two of them, being Aoki and Touma. However, he had no knowledge on the others.
"Hey! Saw the clip from the festival, you killed it!" Aoki greeted as he walked up, giving a high five to Izuku.
"Nice to see you again, Izuku. It's been forever right?" Touma interjected from behind him.
"Well, introductions are in order, since not all of us know each other." A girl barged from a seat in the middle. She had brown hair in a ponytail with brown eyes. she wore the typical uniform, but with a yellow strip indicating air force.
Izuku, Touma, and Aoki sat down and joined the circle of the 7 total people present.
"Well, I guess I'll go first" the same girl said.
"My name is Kaito. I work in the 7th air division based on a nearby island. My quirk is Air Manipulation, which you can probably guess what that does. And I enjoy flying planes. That's it."
"My name is Mako," a boy with blonde hair said next to her. "I work in the traps and sabotage department back home. My quirk is Sand Embodiment, which means that I control sand and basically am sand. I have a logia type quirk. I enjoy eating bread and cheese."
For reference, when a quirk possesses all three categories of a quirk, emitter, transformation, and mutation, its classified as logia. However, almost all recorded in the category are elemental based.
"My name is Aoki. I work in the close combat division based in the United States area. my quirk is demonic tree, which means I can create demonic wood from my hand at will and use it for utility. I enjoy sleeping and fighting equally."
A boy with jet black hair and blue eyes went next. "My name is Chaiki. I work in training new civilian-based recruits and some military-born as well. My quirk is Pain to Gain. The more damage I take, the stronger I am. I like going for jogs and most music."
"My name is Touma. I am from the track and capture division 25 clicks north of here. My quirk is Hunter, which gives me enhancements in all fields, to the point of short precognition, 360 degree vision, and superhuman physique. I like running and skiing."
A boy with black and purple hair spoke up next. "My name is Dai. I work in poisons and espionage and travel around here a lot. My quirk allows me to create poisons out of nearby chemicals. I like chemistry, obviously, and stealth."
"My name is Izuku. I was a lieutenant in the scouting division near base 4. My quirk is Light Embodiment, which is a logia type quirk like Mako. I can transform and manipulate light to my will. I like to jog and hang out with friends."
"Oh, so your the lieutenant in the group. Admiral Ishida said the lieutenant would be team leader." Kaito questioned.
"Oh he did. Didn't he mention a briefing?" Izuku questioned.
"Yup. Got a USB right here." She said, waving a usb in her fingers in a lazy manner. A jet black rectangle with a yellow circle on it. She plugged it into her laptop and Admiral Ishida came up.
"Good evening soldiers! Recently, the Meta Liberation Army or MLA have been supposedly gearing towards a frontal assult on a key manufacturing plant. If this were to fall, they could have a major advantage and even possibly stage an uprising with the gear present over there. Your goal is to use guerilla warfare, hit-and-runs, and traps to delay the enemy without a full out brawl. Though you all are some of the best, there is no way you can face an army of 1000 upward men. They will be arriving from the east-west side of the plant, so be prepared. Reach the location by dusk today. Stay safe." The screen faded to black.
"Well, looks like this will be my area of expertise. So follow my lead." Mako said, proudly.
"Oh shut up, your not even team leader. Idiot!" Kaito yelled.
Izuku sighed at the display. "Everyone, lets get ready to move in 20. Get your gear and meet outside. I'll personally transport us there. Now move!" Izuku's orders clicked a gear as all of them saluted and left. Izuku all ready had his gear packed and waited for around 15 minutes until they arrived.
"So how exactly are you going to get us there?" Dai asked in a cool voice.
"Easy, I'll beam us there. Though try to hold your lunch. You'll all have to grab on to me and I'll get us there in around 2 minutes. I can only go in a straight line after all."
Touma and Aoki grabbed a shoulder and Mako, Kaito, Dai, and Chaiki follow suit. After 2 minutes of near light-speed travel later, everyone found themselves in front of the plant. Kaito, Touma, and Aoki were the only ones who didn't look green after that trip. Mako and Dai were huddled over, and Chaiki was puking into a bush.
"Evening soldiers! Admiral told us to relay the message to start setting up. I've got a map of the area right in your room, and food and water will be brought to you." Everyone nodded and walked in the gates, ending up in a medium, gray building that housed their quarters for the next month. After settling down, everyone sat in a circle.
"So, Mako, any ideas?" Izuku asked to start it off.
"The area seems to take place in a wide canyon that goes under an overpass. We have perimeter teams on the top of the canyon on guard, so they will most likely go under. I suggest we use Dai's poisons combined with explosives to separate part of the group to cause panic. Kaito can most likely control the air to move the poisons around. Chaiki, Touma, and Aoki can move through groups in the front."
"But they have numbers on us, I think we should rely on ranged combat with a barrier in the front." Izuku suggested.
"Maybe, I can create a pit of quicksand to divert them towards a minefield possibly. Though any flight quirks will be able to bypass this." Mako contemplated.
"Don't worry about that, Mako. I can snipe them out of the air with light. Kaito and Dai hide in a crevasse to control the poisons. And Chaiki, Touma, and Aoki can hold guard at the narrow part of the canyon right here." Izuku pointed to a funnel shaped part. It was around 50 feet wide, so they need to funnel through to pass it.
"Perfect, I can go behind them and use my sand to make sure they don't pass."
"No, you'll die in minutes if they decide to retreat. Go with Izuku so everyone is at least in a pair." Kaito suggested. Mako nodded at this.
"What poison should we use, a more deadly poison can only be in liquid, but I can make a sleeping gas as well as a nerve stimulating gas. The latter can cause enough pain to immobilize them for at least an hour."
"Sounds good. Should we use C4 or mines?" Chaiki asked.
"Most likely mines. C4 relies on someone having vision over the area constantly. We can rig the mines with needles for frag damage." Mako replied.
"Worse case scenario, I can collapse the canyon with my sand and cause a sandstorm for an escape."
"No, if it come to it, I'll blow most of them up with a massive beam of light. But Admiral Ishida ordered this specifically to try to minimize casualties from both sides. Mostly trying to scare them off." Izuku replied.
"What about support? Does the sniper division have a play in this?" asked Aoki. "Because if so, we can set up a firing squad on the hill."
"No, it's just us and around 50 other soldiers. Currently, another group has caught the attention of the military, called the Paranormal Action Division, formerly the League of Villains." Touma replied.
Izuku's eyes went a little wide, and Touma prodded him to continue.
"I had a run-in with them awhile back. They have the ability to create lizard-creatures with multiple quirks. Their leader has a strong quirk too. He can decay anything he touches and even stuff connected to it. Rumor has it he held an entire city hostage a month or two ago."
"That's interesting and all, but let's get back to topic." Dai redirected the conversation.
"Let's wait a little. It's 9:00 right now, so let's map the canyon during the day tomorrow and come up with something then." Izuku said.
A nod came from everyone as they all got situated into a bed. The coming conflict ahead was worrying, but little do they know, that it's only a diversion so the PAD can fulfill their mission with Kaido. The mission to capture Shanks.
