Humphrey leads Jade towards the camper and around the corner. Jade was wagging her tail slowly.
She couldn't wait to confess her feelings to Humphrey. She waited for so long for this moment to happen. The moment of unleashing her love and kissed Humphrey for the first time in her life. She couldn't wait to have a family with him, but it would be impossible. Their pups would've been taken away and live with their new family for who knows how long. The thought of creating a family with him made her blushed madly. She shook her head and began walking side to side with Humphrey. She tried her best to keep her face cool down and prevent from her getting embarrassed if Humphrey finds out what she was thinking.
"There's something I," they both said at the same time as Humphrey turned around. Jade and Humphrey blinked several times before sitting down.
"Please...you first," said Jade slowly wagging her tail. Humphrey looked at the ground and hissed nervously. He wasn't sure if he's ready to see her reaction or not, but it's going to hurt her. She's probably going to be the first person he's going to hurt...mentally.
"Hey, Jade...um.." Humphrey looked at Jade who is fluttering her eyes, preparing what he's about to say. Humphrey hated this gut-wrenching feeling in his stomach. He hissed again before finally decided to risk it and say it right in front of her. "I...I'M SORRY!" He shouted as he lowered his head. Jade blinked her eyes and tilted her head to the side.
"What are you apologizing for Humphrey," she asked him. Humphrey gulped before slowly looking straight into her eyes. He was shivering very slightly, but noticeable for Jade. "Humphrey are you okay?"
Humphrey tensed his body up. His teeth started chattering and avoid her gaze while fighting back the gut-wrenching feeling. "Humphrey, you're scaring me. What's wrong?" Humphrey gazed at her slightly frightened eyes. He gritted his teeth before spitting the words out.
"I'M SORRY JADE! Ican'tacceptyourfeelingsbecauseIalreadyhaveagirlfriend!" He exclaimed quickly as he closed his eyes and bowed down his head. He was shivering madly and scared to see her reaction or her response. His ears were laid flat right against his head, and he was hoping that none of the sounds will reach him. He waited, and waited, expecting Jade to slap him as hard as he can for being a stupid dense wolf for not realizing her feelings and choose Kate over her.
He was hoping that she didn't hear what he said considering he stated extremely fast. There was a long silence, and that was the time that Humphrey knew he messed up. Jade's paws slowly then touched Humphrey's cheeks, which made him flinched from the contact, but Jade kept her paws sturdy on him.
Humphrey began to shiver madly in her paws and didn't want to open his eyes to see her expression.
"Humphrey..." she called out softly, making him flinch by the sound of her calling his name. "Humphrey...look at me."
Humphrey shook his head, denying to see her assumed angry face, ready to rip his throat. "Humphrey...please...look at me."
Humphrey sighed and slowly moved his face and fluttered his eyes open. The first thing he saw was her blue eyes and a smile plastered on her face. He already knew she is holding her feelings. He watched her fluttering her eyes and struggle to say a word to him. Humphrey widened his eyes and knew he hurt her so bad. He then broke from her paws and laid down on the ground with his ears pinned against his head.
"I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry" Humphrey continued apologizing to her. He knew it was wrong to admit that he's with Kate.
"Humphrey...it's...it's okay," she said. Humphrey perked his ears before gazing at her.
"N-No, it's not okay because I didn't recognize your feelings. I was stupid, and...and..." Jade put her right paw on his lips, making him stop talking.
"It's okay Humphrey" Jade stated, trying not to make anything Humphrey sad. "I'm happy for you. I'm kind of glad that you cared about me and apologized for a bunch of times, but it's okay. I'm very happy that you found the girl you love."
"B-But...what about you? I just realized that you loved me and-"
"I know. It's probably my fault that I didn't confess way before she did, but it's worth it to experience the love you have for another person. Okay." Humphrey blinked his eyes and just stare at Jade. There's no way a person can be happy after seeing your crush taken away from you. There's no way Jade could be happy for him after that.
"Are you sure you're okay?" he asked her.
"Yes, Humphrey. I'm fine" she replied softly. Humphrey stared at her again in disbelief. Jade sighed and soon wrapped her around him before pulling away. "I'm okay Humphrey." And with that, she kissed him on the cheek and started walking away. "Now, I got to get back with my mom. I'll see you tomorrow Humphrey."
Humphrey continues staring at her while she was walking away. He wanted to follow her and confront her, but at the same time, he didn't want to. It's very clear that she wanted to be alone, and Humphrey just couldn't help it. He feels so bad for her and guilty that he hurt her so much. Humphrey sighed and started walking away as Jade reached to her mom's camper with tears strolling down her cheeks.
Kiana and the others found a perfect spot for the wolves to stay. It was a huge open space with trees blocking the sky. There is a small stream flowing right down the right side of the area with bushes blocking the view. There are also many places to hide from the humans, including a den with overgrown roots covering the side of it, leaving one opening with leaves overhanging it. Many pack members suggested that the pack leaders should stay in that den since it is a perfect spot for them. However, Tony and Alex leave that den for Winston and Eve.
Tony found a den underneath a dead tree while Alex found another one under a rock with his mate.
Kiana picks out some spots for the wolves to dig a new den that is very well hidden from the humans. Most of them picked under trees and bushes while others tend to dig under a huge rock.
Meanwhile, Kate was standing on the edge of the area where they were. She was waiting on Humphrey, and it's starting to take a while. Was it because his dad was calling him and see how glad he is to see him? If it was, it would be worth a sight to see if she stayed there. She finds their reunion cute and beautiful, and it would be worth it to see it again.
But seriously, what's taking him for so long? Kate never thought that Humphrey would take forever to do something. Then, she started to feel...something stalking her.
She turned her head to the right and heard rustling in the leaves. She looked around and kept her back against the area where the wolves are as close as possible.
There's something in the woods.
There's no way it could be an animal since they are close to the human camp. Kate started to shrink towards the ground. This could be a human. After all, she remembered how stealthy they are when the hunters attacked her home. But, it could be Humphrey running towards her. She lifted her snout and started to sniff the air to find his scent. Humphrey was indeed nearby. Just right up ahead actually. Kate smiled and started wagging her tail as Humphrey appeared through the bushes.
"Hey Humphrey" she greeted smiling.
"Hey Kate" he responded with a gloomy tone in his voice, making Kate pinned her ears and her tail stopped wagging.
"Humphrey...are you okay?"
"Yeah...I'm fine, but did you hear something out in the woods? Like...something walking around or is it just me?"
"Well, to be honest, I heard it as well, but it could be just you walking or some of the wolves walking around." Humphrey looked at the ground before looking back at up.
"Hmmm okay," he said walking past her and Kate followed him.
"But are you okay? You don't seem...cheerful" she stated worriedly.
"Yeah...Yeah. I'm okay Kate." Kate stopped and stared at Humphrey. Something was not right with him, and Kate can feel it. Something is troubling him, and she needs to find out what it was. And with that, she continued following him, and little did she know or notice is that there IS something in the woods.
Right behind her from the distance was a huge black dog with red eyes. Standing up to three feet tall, and its mane was flowing within the breeze as it stared down at the wolves before disappearing into the darkness.
When Humphrey reached the area, Storm, Lightning and the huskies siblings arrived with the hollow logs that they're dragging behind. Humphrey smiled and began walking towards them with Kate following behind.
"Soooo, what do you want us to do with this" Storm asked him.
"Well, we're going to save those as our main weapon to deal more damage against the Blight corps. I love to make some modifications on both ends of the logs, but we don't have strong enough materials to do that" Humphrey explained.
"Yeah, I can see what you're talking about. That's our weak point of we use them, and I don't know how is it going to deal more damage to them. Like are you going to use the logs to ram their chest, legs, or what?" Lightning questioned.
"Yep cause it's very effective against them."
"Ah okay. I like what you're thinking" Sky stated.
"Alright, let's get this plan started" he started.
They spend the entire day continuously teaching them the tactics, the technologies, etc. Hummer was training them to gain endurance as much as possible while Sargent taught them how to fight and work as a team. Kiana was explaining the technologies that they used, and the husky siblings were gathering more logs. Humphrey smiled to see Kate running around while panting madly. Of course, Kate was trying to impress him with her speed and stamina. She wanted to meet his expectations and make him proud. She was already ahead with everyone else from the stuff she learned from Humphrey.
When she learned how to fight and the tactics, it was way different than she learned from alpha school. It was hard, and it was intense. She didn't expect Sargent to move like that in mid-air, but that doesn't stop her from meeting Humphrey's expectations.
She began to wonder what will happen if she did meet his expectations.
"You did amazing Kate," said Humphrey giving her a really cute handsome smile.
"Really? Do you think so" she asked him with glittering eyes.
"I do so Kate. Come here" he said grabbing Kate and locked lips with her. Kate widened her eyes before began mauling his delicious mouth and suck the living soul out of him. She pushed Humphrey down and start humping on his crotch with her juice panting on him. Kate moaned loudly and suck his tongue before bobbing her head up and down.
"Mmmm BABY!" Kate mumbled loudly when she felt his eggplant between her labia. She then broke the kiss and was getting ready to slam her hips down and destroy Humphrey's hips until there's nothing left in him for her to drain.
"Kate quit daydreaming about your boyfriend and pay attention" Sargent shouted. Kate jumped and straighten her posture.
"Yes, Sargent" Kate replied loudly. She wiped the drools off her mouth before checking her crotch to make sure she didn't soak herself from her daydream.
Humphrey chuckled to himself nervously when he watched them. Sargent was a little bit imitating with his loud army voice. He was enjoying watching Kate working harder than everyone else. Especially watching her running around, and Humphrey tried so hard not to stare at her rear end when she's running. However, he was still bothered by Jade's reaction after rejecting her feelings.
He wished he could do more to make her happy, but it doesn't seem like it's going to happen.
They spend the entire day training and learning to get ready for the Blight Corp's attack whenever they're ready.
Kate was tired from all the training and learning from the dogs. She was slowly walking towards Humphrey who was talking with his omega friends. The dogs have to go easy on the omegas since they're not built like an alpha.
Humphrey spotted Kate in the corner of his eyes and told his friends that they'll talk later. The trio of omegas nodded their head before walking away and Humphrey faces Kate with a smile.
"Hey Kate" he greeted her softly. "How's your intense workout?"
"It's rough, but I got the hang of it a while ago" she replied with a smile.
"Doesn't seem to look like it considering you're wobbling like a duck and move like a gecko" he chuckled, making Kate laughed.
"Very funny Humphrey" she stated as Humphrey walked up to her side and letting her lean onto him. "Thanks."
"No problem."
"So where are we going?"
"Well, I figure that we should sleep at my dad's camper."
"Does he know?"
"Well no, but he'll let you in. Plus we can eat over there cause I'm hungry, and I missed my favorite food. Do you remember the dog food that I gave you last time?" Kate nodded her head with a huge grin on her face. Humphrey's not the only one. Kate missed it as well, and couldn't wait to have a taste of that. It's more delicious than the caribou's meat, but maybe not as much as Humphrey's cock. Kate then widened her eyes and began shaking her head side to side blushing at the thought of that. Didn't she promise herself that she wouldn't act like a huge pervert right around Humphrey?
"Kate, are you okay," he asked her.
"Hm? Yeah, yeah I'm fine" she answered while fanning herself with her tail slightly to cool her face off.
"HUMPHREY!" Humphrey and Kate stopped by the sound and the tone of someone's voice. They both slowly turned their heads around to see Eve came rushing in with fire in her raging eyes. "WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING WITH MY DAUGHTER?!" She screamed as she slid to a halt and stared down at Humphrey's terrified eyes. "Are you planning to take her into your human dad's place, so you can take her purity?"
Kate almost made a yelp when she said that.
'Great timing mom' she stated in her mind. She was just thinking about Humphrey's junk seconds ago, and her mother brought it up about them mating in some private place where no one can see what they're doing.
"N-No mam...I'm-I'm not taking her anywhere to do that. I-I just want...want to take her to a comfortable place for o-our date" Humphrey stuttered madly. Right now, Humphrey doesn't know which one is scarier. The hunters or the Blight Corps...or Eve. Eve glared at his eyes, making Humphrey shrink towards the ground and was too terrified to move one spot. He was getting ready to piss himself from her imitating aura.
"Are you sure?" she asked with a cold hearted tone. Humphrey gulped loudly and nodded his head rapidly. Eve squinted her eyes before slowly looking at Kate. "Is this true Kate?"
"Yes, mom. We're not going to do anything indecent. We're just going on a date. That's it" Kate stated. Eve then smiled after hearing her statement. She then grabbed Humphrey's scruff, scaring and flinching him during the process.
"Well, what a nice boy" she complimented with a grin.
"Y-Yeah...yeah." Kate giggled cutely as Eve let him free, and Humphrey hid right behind Kate before embracing her tightly.
"Don't worry mom, we'll be fine" she said starting walking away. Humphrey immediately began walking in front of her to avoid Eve's menacing death glare.
"Good lord, you're mother is scary," he said panting lightly.
"Yeah, no one in the pack wouldn't dare to mess with her, or else they'll get their death sentence" she replied.
"Thaaat's...good to know" Humphrey shivered.
When they arrived, Humphrey looked around his dad's camper and there was no sign of him. He then spotted Max who was sitting outside of the RV and was enjoying the breeze flowing through his fur.
"Hey Max" he called out, making Max opened his eyes.
"Yeah Humphrey?"
"Where's my dad?"
"Oh, he had to go with Kiana's dad to grab something from Jasper town." Humphrey pouted when he heard that. He looked inside and saw the dog food and the treats on the front seat, but he can't get to it. The doors are locked, and there's nothing he can do.
"Are you guys hungry?" Max asked them.
"Yeah, sort of cause I miss eating my dog food, bacon, and greenies."
"Well I can't blame you," he said before going inside. Kate and Humphrey waited outside and saw Max dragging the bag before going in again to grab the bowls and the greenies. Humphrey felt something like someone is blowing next to him. He looked at Kate and noticed that her tail is wagging extremely fast. He began to giggle as Max bring the last items out. Kate gazed down at the food with sparkles in her eyes. She wanted to try the green bone looking stuff first ever since she saw Humphrey enjoying his when she first met him. Then, there's the dog food. The one that she misses the most. She couldn't wait to take a huge bite out of it.
"So, are you guys on a date" Max questioned them as he poured the food into the bowl.
"Well...yeah" Humphrey answered.
"Well, it's a good thing I brought a huge bowl for the two of you." And with that, he finished pouring the food into the bowl before putting the greenies on top of it and pushing the bowl towards the couple. "I'll leave you two alone." Max smiled before walking away and enter the RV.
Humphrey and Kate looked down at their food to see one big greenie that's big enough for both of them to eat. They both licked their lips and went after the greenies.
They slowly raised their head until their eyes met with their nose touching. The couple smiled before Kate moved in and touched her lips with his. They both closed their eyes as they kiss, and Kate wanted to slip her tongue in his mouth, but she can't. This is a very romantic kiss, and definitely the most romantic moments they've had in their relationship.
She opened her eyes and bit down the greenie and moan when she breaks the kiss. Humphrey opened his eyes to see Kate's seductive expression and watched her start munching on the greenie.
When she did, she widened her eyes.
"This tasted so good" Kate mumbled loudly before closing her eyes and savoring the taste. Humphrey smiled as he watched her chewing on the greenie. Kate gulped down the remaining pieces down her throat and licked her lips cleaned. She looked down at the food hungrily before diving into the bowl. Humphrey did the same thing, and Kate hummed happily when she tasted the food. Humphrey gazed at her. Kate had her eyes closed with passion and her cheeks puffed up from the food she was chewing. It's worth it to see her enjoying her meal.
After they finished polishing the bowl, Kate licked her lips clean with her eyes closed happily.
"Mmmmm, I miss this food," she said dreamily.
"Same here Kate, but it could've been better if there was bacon" Humphrey added.
"I know right. I love those" said Kate, licking her lips.
"Well I can't blame you Kate" he chuckled. Humphrey grabbed the bowl before approaching the door. "Hey Max, the bowl is outside if you want to grab it!" Max came outside and grab the bowl before looking at his and nodded his head.
Humphrey smiled as he nodded his head as well before they walked away. Humphrey wants to stay in his dad's camper where he and Kate could sleep in. He wanted to give her a good night's sleep, but it doesn't seem to be like that way. The door to the camper is locked, and there's no other way to get in.
"So, should we head back and find a spot for us to sleep," Humphrey asked Kate. Kate smiled when he said that as she locked gaze with him.
"Sure." While they were walking back, Humphrey spotted something he had never seen for a long time, which is laying next to his dad's camper. It was his bed. Humphrey widened his eyes as he approached his bed and smiled widely.
"Oh by the way Humphrey, I forgot to tell you that your dad left a bed for you just in case you get back" Max unexpectedly spoke up as he pops his head out of the door with a smile on his face.
"Thanks" he responded to him before walking in a circle and laying down his bed. "Haaaa, it's nice to have this feeling back." He looked at Kate who had a passionate grin on her face. He moved his tail to the side of him and start patting it down, telling Kate to lay right next to him. Kate widened her smile before laying right next to her lover. When she did, she instantly closed her eyes from the warmth and the comfort on her fur. Kate can tell this is going to be the best sleep she ever had in her life.
"Goodnight Kate" he yawned.
"Goodnight Humphrey." They both shared a goodnight kiss before Kate laid her head down followed by Humphrey with his head next to her. Kate intertwined her tail with his, and enter her dreamland along with Humphrey.
In the morning, Humphrey yawned as he woke up from his sleep. He hasn't had this kind of sleep for a long time. He looked down at Kate who was sleeping peacefully, making his heart melt.
Kate was sleeping like an angel right in front of him, and he wished he has human hands to take a picture of her. However, Kate was already wide awake. She woke up way earlier before Humphrey. She spent her time watching her precious Humphrey sleeping until he stirred in his sleep.
She couldn't help but smile at him. She peaked one of her eyes opened and give him a good morning kiss. Humphrey widened his eyes by her action before closing his eyes to savor the moment. Kate broke the kiss with a smile and began nuzzling his nose.
"Morning handsome," she said smiling.
"Morning beautiful" he replied. "Did I wake you up or something?" Kate just smile and shook her head happily.
"Nope, I was just admiring you sleeping right in front of me until you decided to wake up, and I was waiting to kiss you first."
"To be honest, I was actually planning to do that."
"Awww." Kate nuzzled his nose again with a huge smile on her face. Humphrey was acting too sweet for her to handle. She just wanted to give him a bunch of kisses on his face.
"Should we head back and check on the packs?" Kate nodded her head, almost wanting to pout cause she just wants to spend the entire day with Humphrey all alone. She watched him stood up from his bed and stretched his body out. Kate did the same thing and was hoping to get his attention, but then again, she did promise herself not to act like a pervert right in front of him for the third time.
The couple then started walking towards the hidden area. As soon as they were getting close, they heard a loud commotion. A ton of commotion like if three packs are going to war. Humphrey and Kate both looked at each other and began running towards them.
When they got there, there was already a huge crowd piling up, and it looks like they are surrounding someone else. Humphrey and Kate pushed through the crowds to find out what's going on. They heard someone talking, and from the tone of its voice; they are terrified.
The couple finally passed through the crowds and spotted a group of exhausted wolves laying down right in front of them. They didn't even recognize them at all. They had never seen these wolves from the Western, Eastern, and Southern pack.
"What's going on here," Kate asked her dad who was standing right in front of them.
"Well, the Northern Pack heard what's going on with us, and wanted to join, but the problem is that they think those humans are nearby within their territory and are too scared to move from their hiding spot."
"Wait what, how many wolves are there in the Northern Pack," Kiana asked them.
"There's about sixteen of them." Kiana sighed before looking at her friends. They couldn't blame them though.
"Well, we should go and help them out" Humphrey stated. Winston then put his paw up right in front of his face, stopping in his track.
"Before you go, we should make a few...a couple of warnings. One, the Northern Pack doesn't know about us breaking the alpha and omega mating pack law. They will freak out about that, so you might able to tell them once you get here or on your way if you manage to convince them. And two, their pack leaders are stubborn along with their son."
Kate had an annoyed expression when he said that. Nars is the Northern Pack leader's son, and he's been bugging her and trying to beat her in a race. He's been holding a grudge when he first met here in the Wolf pups game. He's not only stubborn but competitive as well.
"Well, thanks for giving us a warning. I'll try my best if we told them that the laws between Alpha and Omega mating have been removed."
"You certainly got this, and I'm pretty sure you will get through this with Kate."
"Thanks," he said smiling. He looked at the wolves and had no idea who to pick for his group.
"I'm coming with you Humphrey," said Sargent walking through the crowds with his military vest on. The dogs widened their eyes. This is the first time seeing him wearing the vest he wore back in the days.
"Alright then," said Humphrey.
"I'll go" Garth spoke up.
"Same here," said Scar stepping in along with Claws. Some of the western alphas started to step in, and Michael stepped in as well, making Humphrey smiled. The group was small but contains the best alpha in the Western and the Eastern pack. Alex looked at his alphas and motioned his head for them to join in, and some of them did. Kate stood next to him and nuzzled his neck, telling him that she's joining with him and not leaving by his side. Humphrey looked over his group. all of them had a smile on their faces and wanting to support him.
"Alright, let's go" Humphrey commanded before heading up north.
When they got near the border, everything was extremely quiet. The forest up north was dead silent, and some of the alphas spotted several animals hiding in their homes. None of them wouldn't move a single spot, and they tried to keep themselves as still as possible. Humphrey can feel the alphas bunching up to him as they began to feel a strong presence from all over the place. They kept their eyes on every environment. From locking their eyes on the trees then to bushes. From what they heard from Kiana, humans can be anywhere when they are hunting their prey, and they need to be light on their feet if they spotted one of them. She told them that they are excellent predators, and it was almost impossible to spot them. They can be in bushes that are not natural to the environment like bushes stacking on top of each other or a stick lying in the middle of the path for them to step in a trap.
Kiana also told them that their scent smell is useless when they are in a danger zone. They have to rely on their eyes and their ears the most to see any movements or weird outlines when they are at a different angle. This is where they are starting to get extremely scared. They are scared of one particular human called the Phantom, which was only described as showing no signs of its appearance except when they are attacking.
The wolves told Kiana about him, and she stated that it could be a human wearing a ghillie suit. Humphrey and Sargent can keep their eye on that.
As they were getting deeper into the territory, Garth started to smell other wolves within the area.
"Alright, we're getting close to them" he whispered.
"I'd say we should get them out of here with no explanation as fast as we can and get back to camp" Sargent suggested, and everybody nodded their head. They continue walking deeper into the area and their search. Some of them find them in small, but tightly packed den while the others are in the pack leaders den.
Kate's expression changed when she saw Nars. She better hope that he better not start rambling off that he's going to beat her in a race again in the middle of a serious situation. He's going to get everybody killed if he does so. Otherwise, they will have no other choice, but to knock him out to sleep.
Luckily for them, Nars didn't say anything about it, which brought relief to Kate. She was glad that he's smart enough to not go on about his grudge. She was preparing for that whenever she met Nars till now.
However, they began to wonder why there's a dog in the team, which some of the alphas sternly did not ask them any questions till they reach the camp. Scars and Claws even threatened them that if they do, they will alert the humans and ditched them as quickly as possible. Humphrey was glad that none of this went on a downside.
They were getting close to the edge of the border until they stepped out of it.
The wolves were about to let out a sigh, then Sargent spoke up before they even get the chance.
"Stay sharp. They might've followed us, and do not fall behind. We need to avoid walking in a straight line or else they're going to pick us off from behind." They began to follow his command and stay in a tight compact formation.
All of a sudden, they heard a branch cracked, making all of them turn to their left. They saw nothing until they spotted a skinny outline within the distance and barely blending in the environment give it away.
"RUN!" And with that, they all started running as soon as the sniper pulled the trigger. Garth can feel the sheer velocity of the bullet flying past him before hitting the ground.
Right after that, a couple of humans pop out of their hiding spot and ran after them. Everybody didn't even bother to look back. They know they have their eyes on them and getting ready to kill from the distance. Sargent had to look back and began to identify their weapons. One of them had a submachine gun while the other had a rifle.
They both aimed their weapon at them, and Humphrey can feel it at the back of his neck. He changed the direction to avoid their line of sight as the group followed him.
Humphrey was trying to find a way to get out of this place fast as soon as possible. They can't outrun the humans forever otherwise they are going to catch up. They kept running and running until Humphrey spotted something in the corner of his eyes. There was a huge hollow log that is big enough for all of them to fit in, and it was on the edge of a steep slope. Humphrey had no other choice, but to use it and teach them on the way down. Kate knew what he was doing. He was heading towards that log at full speed.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING" the northern pack screamed. Humphrey paid no attention to them. All he wanted to do is to escape from them. Kate watched him launching towards the log, and Kate did the same thing. They both slammed against the log, freeing it from the ground, and the wolves did the same thing as them.
The hollow log tipped over, and they all jumped in and slide down the mountain.
Then, two humans on ATVS zoomed down the mountain and were right on their tail. The wolves widened their eyes when they see how fast they are. They were gaining on them within minutes, and Kate wrapped her arms around Humphrey's stomach and shut her eyes tightly. Humphrey looked behind him, and they were within less than ten feet away from them. He saw them pulling out their weapons, and Humphrey started to panic. He looked around to find anything for them to push them forward. Sargent moved through the log and was getting ready to pounce on them. Humphrey kept looking around until he spotted a vine up ahead. Humphrey took a deep breath before letting it out heavily, hoping that the vine is tight and strong enough.
"Alright guys, hang on!" Humphrey screamed. Everyone behind him began to hold the sides every tightly as Humphrey stood up. He opened his jaws and grabbed on the vine. "Lean left! Lean left!" They followed his command as the log swung around the tree and launch themselves down the mountain after Humphrey release the vine.
They zoomed past the humans and went faster than ever. The wolves began to squint their eyes from the breeze blowing right up against them. This is the fastest they have ever gone to. Humphrey looked behind them again, and the humans were still there right on their tail, and they were getting faster than ever.
From Humphrey's and Sargent's perspective, they were going as fast as an interstate highway or maybe even faster than that.
"How are they catching up" Kate yelled as she stared at them fearfully. Humphrey looked around again and found a tunnel through the mountain.
"Lean right" Humphrey shouted. They did as they were told to, and within a split second; they lost sight of the humans once they turn right. They ducked their head down as they zoomed through the tunnel. When they passed through the exit, they saw no signs of the humans on the ATVs near them. Humphrey looked ahead and told everyone to lean left, and then right to dodge trees and boulders in their path.
After a few minutes, it was peaceful on the way down to the mountain as they slid into a halt.
However, they kept their eyes on their surroundings to make sure they weren't being followed by them. Slowly but surely, they got off the log one by one, guarding each other's back.
Humphrey looked at Sargent who glared down at the path where they came from. Sargent was ready to rip their throats out and going on a rampage. Kate pressed her side against Humphrey's while gazing around the area. From the looks of it, they are close to the Eastern border and had to cross the human path if they find their way back to camp.
"I think I know where to go from here," said Kate.
"Alright, we'll follow your lead Kate" Humphrey replied to her. Kate started walking along the side of the mountain slope with the group following her. They began to form a tight compact formation again to avoid getting picked off one by one.
But there's one problem. That strange presence was still nearby, and this time; it was even stronger than it was before. Kate's legs were starting to shake and couldn't even continue walking along the path anymore. It's like her body is terrified of something else, but she couldn't figure out what the heck it was that's causing her to do this.
Humphrey has to catch her multiple times and was wondering what is going on with the forest. He began to wonder that maybe the humans didn't lose sight of them.
Then, they heard something walking through the forest. Everybody has their ears perked up before listening to the sounds of their footsteps. It wasn't distinctive deer footsteps or bear footsteps.
The rustling on the leaves was too rough and loud. These footsteps didn't belong to any animal in the forest. That leaves them one clue. It was a human making those footsteps.
The footsteps were getting louder and louder when they walked closer to the human until they spotted a shadowy tall figure within the depths of the forest. It was creepily walking towards them and the eyes began to glow within the darkness. The eyes were bright orange like lava. It continues walking towards them before entering the sunlight, revealing the same symbol that they saw yesterday. The Blight Corps symbol. The Northern pack wolves began to widened their eyes before stepping back slowly. As soon as the human enters the sunlight, five red eyes began to appear from the darkness behind him.
It stopped walking and waited for the eyes to catch up to him. When they walked out of the shadows, the owners of the red eyes are five huge shadowy ghostlike dogs. Their fur was flowing slowly along with the wind, and its red eyes began piercing their soul from the distance.
"It-It's...It's...It's" One of the wolves stuttered. It was too hard for her to speak.
Kate began to widen her eyes after realizing what she was trying to say.
"It's the Coyote King."
