The tragic news arose when Humphrey heard about his best friend's current condition, leaving him depressed for a few days. He didn't come out of that den ever since he woke up. He stayed there, laying down and facing towards the wall. His soul was aching from the news and his actions that killed his best friend. Kate kept telling him that Humphrey didn't kill him because he wasn't in his right mind, but Humphrey didn't believe her. It's still his actions. No matter what state he's in. His body is the one that touches him and made it worse. Humphrey couldn't get any sleep either. He was afraid that he will get a nightmare of him seeing himself killing Sargent over and over again.

However, Kate was worried about him. Not only he hasn't got any sleep, but he also didn't eat. Humphrey appears to be losing somewhat twenty pounds from just laying there and not eating. She can see his ribs visible on his chest, and it's becoming unbearable to look at him. Humphrey's suffering right in front of her eyes.

All she can do is sit there and hug him. She wanted to do more, but there's nothing she can do. How can she possibly comfort someone else who is traumatized and depressed? The only answer to that situation is letting them heal on their own. Time will never tell when will they get better, but it's their only hope.

She hoped that this doesn't change Humphrey's personality or everything about him.

Speaking about Humphrey, Kate woke up from her slumber as the sun rays hit her eyelids. She opened her eyes and looked down on Humphrey who hasn't moved from his spot. He was still wide awake, barely. With little bits of tears strolling down his face as if his life was draining away from his grasps. Kate sighed and kissed him right on the forehead before stroking his back.

"Humphrey, do you want to get some breakfast?" Kate asked him, but Humphrey shook his head no in response. Kate let out another sigh before nuzzling him. She stood up from her spot and walked out of the den to get some breakfast. Luckily, she didn't have to go hunting this morning since her dad has already assigned another hunting group.

Kate turned her attention towards the human camp.

'One day' She thought. 'One day, this part of history will repeat itself over and over again when a human found out that their dog is dead.' Kate was not looking forward to seeing their reaction. That's what scares her the most. What are they going to do after finding out that Sargent is dead? Destroying everything in their sight? She hoped not. While Kate was in the middle of her train of thoughts, Jade appeared in her sight as she walked down the path towards the packs. Kate was not the only one who is worrying about Humphrey's mental health. Jade knows him more than she does. Without a doubt, she knew how painful it is to kill your best friend when you're not in your right mind.

"Hey, Kate..." Jade greeted her.

"Hey..." Jade slowly walked up to her and Kate sat down on the ground, waiting for her.

"So how's Humphrey," she asked her worriedly. Kate sighed again and shook her head.

"Humphrey's still the same as always. He hasn't been eating and sleeping much for the past few days, and it's starting to affect his health."

"I see...What about his family?"

"They're worried about him too, even though Humphrey's dad rejected that he was not his son because he lives with a human."

"Well, that's surprising, to be honest. I didn't expect his dad to be worried about him."

"I say the same thing. He didn't have the chance to apologize to him for smacking him and denying that he's part of the family."

"Well...if that works when he's...like that" Jade added, motioning her head towards the den.

"Yeah..." Kate said, laying her ears flat. "The only question is how long though?"

"I hope it's not long for him to recover." Kate nodded her head, agreeing with her. If Humphrey's going to change, how is she going to handle his new look? Will he go crazy and become a blood-thirsty fearless wolf with a huge desire to wipe out the Blight Corps? Or...will he stay depressed and starved to death? There are so many questions going on through her head like World War 2. Without a doubt, Kate would not handle his new look. There's no way she wouldn't resist it.

Jade can tell that Kate was stressing out about Humphrey. She put her paw on her shoulder, snapping her back to reality.

"Let's go ahead and grab some breakfast, shall we?" Jade suggested as she continues to push her down the path. Kate nodded her head and lead her towards the feeding grounds.

At the feeding grounds, Kate was waiting in line to get her food but didn't pay attention to what's going on with her surroundings. Humphrey was in her mind. She couldn't stop worrying about him and wanted to get back to him as soon as possible. But she couldn't because the line is too long, and the four packs of Jasper Park are together with each other.

Kate looked over at Jade who was standing at the sideline, looking at the wolves in disappointment. Jade couldn't believe what they're doing. She understands what's going on with the line.

The alphas get the foods first, grabbing all the meaty and valuable foods, and then the omegas cleaned up the corpse with little food behind. She didn't like how wolf society works. Everyone should be equal, no matter what their status is.

Jade waited for Kate to get her food, and she did. Kate was walking back with two pieces of meat in her mouth. One was for her, and the other one is for Humphrey. Hopefully, he would eat it soon before he starved to death. If he didn't, Kate might have to force him to eat his food whether he feels like it or not. Kate looked up and noticed Jade's expression.

"Hm, what's wrong?" Kate asked her.

"I'm disappointed to see the omegas getting the food last while the alphas get the food first. It's not fair, and it's not healthy for the pack. We need everyone at their full strength. Numbers matters now if we're facing against the Blight Corps" Jade explained. Kate widened her eyes a bit and was surprised to hear that answer. She didn't expect anyone to say that, but now that it makes sense. Only to her since she is probably the only wolf who understands this as she learns more about the humans. Kate knows for sure that humans don't do the same thing as the wolves do, which is why they have such a healthy population. Thanks to her, she is next in line to become a pack leader.

"Don't worry. I'll fix this somehow when I become the pack leader" she said to her.

"You better" Jade replied as they walked back towards the den. Kate had a bad feeling in her stomach as if something's bad is going to happen. This feeling always happens with something very bad, most likely involving humans. But she didn't feel any presence or smell. There is a possible chance that there might be a human masking its scent, and it could be the Phantom.

As they reached towards the den, Kate put down the meat on the ground and called out Humphrey's name, but there was no response or sounds of the slightest movement.

"Humphrey?" Kate stepped into the den, and the first thing she saw was an empty den. Kate gasped and widened her eyes as she took several steps back. "Humphrey's gone..."

"WHAT?!" Jade screamed as she pushed Kate to the side before looking around the den carefully. Kate looked around her surroundings and notice paw prints heading north. Kate enlarged her eyes even more after realizing where was Humphrey heading to.

"Jade, follow me!" Kate shouted with fear as she chased down after Humphrey. Jade wasted no time and followed Kate. Kate's heart started to jump up and down madly as if it was in a bouncing house. There's no way it could be true to one of her predictions. Could this be the first step of him becoming a fearless bloodthirsty wolf? Could this be the first step of him changing into a completely different person?

Kate ran even faster, fast enough to leave Jade in the dust as she was on her trail. Jade tried to keep up with her, but it was no use. She was too fast for her to catch up. But she didn't care. She wants her to find Humphrey fast before something bad happens. She ran, ran, ran, and ran until she spotted Humphrey in her sights. Kate widened her eyes and ran even faster to the point where her legs are starting to ache.

"HUMPHREY!" Kate screamed after him, but he paid no attention to her.

Humphrey started to run even faster than before, but not as fast as Kate. Kate was catching up to him as fast as she could until she's close enough to tackle him down. And she did.

They both rolled around the ground until they stopped with Kate straddling on top of her lover.

"Kate, let me go please..." Kate looked down and saw the anger in his eyes. He really is turning into a fearless wolf.

"Humphrey! No, you're not going anywhere" she said to him.

"I SAID LET GO!" He screamed at her, shocking Kate. He didn't yell at her before once in their lifetime, but she knew that he didn't mean to do that. He wasn't in his right mind. He's just desperate to kill that human for making him murdering his best friend.

"No Humphrey! I'm not letting you go. You're going to get yourself killed!"

"I don't care! I want to kill him and the rest of the Blight Crops! I WANT THEM DEAD! Even if it's sacrificing my freedom and my life to do so!"

"It's still not going to do anything against them! Are you out of your mind, thinking that you're strong enough to take down an invincible animal?"

"YES! I'm strong enough to take them down, and I will" he shouted, trying to push Kate off, but she held her ground. Kate pressed her body against his and wrapped her arms around him.

"KATE, LET ME GO!"

"NO!"

Jade arrived at the scene where she heard Kate and Humphrey yelling at each other. She heard every word coming from Humphrey's mouth, saying that he doesn't care if he risks his life as long as he gets his jaws on the Blight Corps' leader. Jade was not happy. She began walking towards Humphrey while he was busy fighting Kate. She didn't like what she's hearing, and neither does Kate. When she got there, Jade gave him a nasty slap across his face, shocking Kate and Humphrey.

"Humphrey, just shut up..." she said quietly as they both looked up to her. "Why...why would you sacrifice your own life? Do you know how painful it is to hear someone you love to say that?"

Humphrey widened his eyes at his action. He felt horrible for what he did, and he deserved it. Kate and Jade would be in the same position as he was if he decided to risk his life. Humphrey looked down, avoiding Kate's and Jade's gazes.

"I'm sorry" he apologized.

"It's okay Humphrey. It's still not your fault for acting this way" Kate stated as she hugged Humphrey. Humphrey smiled a little and hugged her back as Jade joined in the hug.

Then, there was that same scent again. The trio widened their eyes and broke the hug as soon as the pattern has arrived. They all formed in a circle and began scanning around the area. Kate honed her sense of smell and looked to her left.

"It's over there," said Kate, pointing towards the direction where the scent is coming from.

"Okay, let's head back as fast as we can before we get spotted" Jade suggested.

"Good idea" Kate replied. Jade was leading them back to where they came from with Humphrey on her tail and Kate on the rear. They quickly walked back down the trail until they started to hear voices. They all widened their eyes and hid inside the bushes with no hesitation. Jade covered her mouth with both paws as she shivered, and Humphrey pinned his ears with his paws. Kate took a couple of deep breaths, and they all stood silently. The voices weren't getting any closer to them nor moving farther away. It sounds like they are staying in one spot. But they didn't dare to make a move from their spot. They were worried that they will hear them if they do so.

"Guys, look" Kate whispered. Jade and Humphrey turned their attention towards Kate, and she was looking out of the bushes that have a small opening. Jade and Humphrey decided to join her to find two Blight Crops members talking to each other while standing next to a desk.

"Ahhh, what a nice day," said one of them.

"Yep, hey did you see that beautiful girl walking by in Jasper?"

"What? The girl with silky black hair and a somewhat hourglass figure? Yeah, she's sexy as hell."

"Well, what do you say if we go back to the town and find her again? You know, hang out with her and then..."

"Yeah totally." Humphrey and Jade wanted to growl at them viciously. They knew what they're going to do, and luckily for Humphrey; Jade was holding him back. As much as she wanted to stop them, she didn't want to blow their cover or else they would be killed.

Suddenly, a strong presence appeared within the area making Kate and Humphrey bowed down.

"What the heck are you guys doing?" Jade whispered to them loudly.

"It's...It's the Raven Mocker" Kate responded fearfully. Jade widened her eyes and turned her attention back towards them. Kate was right. It was him. He appeared out of nowhere and was walking towards his comrades in an unnatural way as usual. As soon as he approached them, he quickly got between them and punched one of them with his prosthetic arm. It sends him flying towards a tree and slammed him against it.

He then grabbed the other one by his neck and easily lifted him in the air with his thumb pressing against his pressure point on his neck. The Blight Corps leader dragged him across the ground with him and walked towards the fallen comrade before stepping on him as he glared down into their souls.

"What...did I just hear?" He said in a cold haunting quiet tone. "What is one of the rules for this corporation?"

"Ugh...do not rape...someone," One of them said.

"Aaaaand what happens if you do?"

"We...would be...in your list."

"That's right~," he said smiling. "I'll crush your ribcage and busted your organs. The same way I did to my victims, and it's not going to be a pretty last moment for you guys." Both of them gulped down in fear, knowing how ruthless their leader is. The last thing they wanted to do is to get on his bad side, and it's something that no one wouldn't dare to see. "Do you know why I named this group the Blight Corps?"

Both of them shook their heads no. They had no idea what's the meaning of that name.

"It's because we are infected corpses, striving to destroy something. We are created because of society. Do you know what's our main goal?" They both shook their heads no again, making him angrier than ever before he slammed one of them down to the ground. "Our goal is to wipe out humanity. It's the main reason why society is messed up, racisms, murders, rapes, and wars existed. And don't forget our goal before I will spill your brains out of your skull. GOT IT!"

The boys nodded their heads rapidly. The Raven Mocker casually letting them go as they scattered away from him. He let out a sighed before walking back into the depths of the forest, and then disappeared within the shadows.

Meanwhile, Jade and Humphrey just discovered something big. They just discovered the Blight Corps' main goal, and how it was formed. Not only that, they found out what type of human the Raven Mocker is. He's not evil. He's far from that. He's...a broken man. Everything they just saw pointed out his attitudes and his behavior. Now, it makes all sense. The victims were probably criminals that he killed off, and that prosthetic arm. It could be the main reason why he wanted to wipe out humanity, and it could be possibly his motivation.

They began to wait and didn't move from their spot until the ghost is clear. They moved out from their hiding spot and began walking back as fast as possible. While they were walking back, Humphrey had his head down. He was thinking about the Blight Corps leader and his motivation. There are bunch of questions filling up his mind, but the most important question was in his mind the most. What the hell happened to him?

There is a possible chance that he could be innocent and felt enraged over something. However, Humphrey had to accept him as his enemy. Whether he is a good guy or a bad guy. Then, his stomach began to growl loudly, making Kate giggled knowing that he's hungry as hell.

"Do you want to eat?" Kate asked him, and Humphrey nodded his head rapidly. "Are you sure?"

"Yes" Humphrey responded desperately, and the girls began to laugh on their way home. Humphrey suddenly got chills running up his spine, but he shook it off...without knowing that there is someone...watching him. But there is one problem...This person is...good at hiding.

OH SHIT! Why is there problems at every corner? LIKE WHY! ARE HUMANS THAT BIG OF A DEAL! Yes. So I would like you guys to try and figure it out why is he acting like this way. I would love to hear you guys' theories. I believe there is 14 chapters left for this story, but that's probably my plan is to end at chapter 47. MAAAAYBE! For now, I would be focusing on Five Alphas, One Omega, The Only Boy, and Puzzles of War. What did you guys think? What will happen next? I'm TheRavenMocker. Be a raven, mock the ravens. We'll see you guys on the next flight.
