Storm's POV
I ran as fast as I could back to the camp. My friends' lives are in my paws, and I can't throw them away. My muscles were aching from running so fast. From my guess, I am running up to forty-six or more miles per hour. It's not normal for a greyhound to be running this fast. Forty-five miles per hour is their max speed, and I'm running faster than that.
But who cares. My friends' lives are in the line. I would kill myself if I tripped or slowing down because they would be killed at any second. I hope my parents are still there at the camp with the others.
They're our only hope to survive this event.
My breathing pattern continuously increasing the farther I go. My heart was jumping up and down in my chest like it was in a bouncing house. I began to have negative thoughts, but I shook them out of my head.
I ran faster, faster, and even faster. I am starting to pick up speed as my adrenaline was flowing through my body like crazy.
I was getting closer and closer to the camp until I slid on my paws and stopped, almost face planting onto the ground. My eyes widened up when I saw something I never expected them to see.
There, across the field, lies a bunch of humans surrounding Sargent's grave. It was my parents and the others. I noticed that Sargent's dad was there. He was shaking as he stares at the burial ground that they dug up before finding out that it was Sargent. He was holding onto his collar tightly in his hands before his eyes glow red. I began to sense an immense rage aura flowing around him. Sargent's dad was mad. REALLY, mad. I noticed Humphrey's dad turned his attention towards me before running. He began kneeling to my level, and I began to whimpered and making sounds. Hoping that he understood what I'm trying to say.
I watched him squinting his eyes before looking past behind me and stood up.
"Everyone..." he started. "Grab everything you can find that is useful. It's pretty damn clear that the Blight Corps did this." Never in my life that I could be this much happy. I remembered they all left after the news of the Blight Corps have been spotted in Jasper Park to buy weapons and other items. I watched all of them ran towards their motor homes and began bringing everything.
Humphrey's dad grabbed the same shotgun he stole from the hunters and began loading the shells in before grabbing the Ballistic shield from the inside.
"I'M GOING AHEAD!" Sargent's dad yelled as he ran back, following my trails. The anger from his voice is no joke. He's not himself anymore, despite being a mentally strong police officer. But I can't blame him.
They killed his precious dog. His precious partner. His...best friend. A Man's best friend.
I watched them began leaving the camp and following Sargent's dad as they go to war. As they were walking, Humphrey's dad began talking to them about the plan. I couldn't make it out what is he trying to say, which made me very curious.
(End of POV)
Humphrey couldn't believe his eyes that his dad was here. He was sooo happy that everyone is safe. His dad and his friends are here. The wind was flowing around them, blowing his dad's coat like if he's a superhero.
Charlie, Chrystal, Heather, and Michael was surprised that human is the one who raised Humphrey and changed his name that changes his life. They were even more surprised that they are protecting them from the other humans.
Humphrey's dad looked at him before pulling out something from his pocket. It was a huge bandage, and he began applying it on Kate with one hand while keeping his Ballistic Shield up. He began holding the bandage and applying a little bit of pressure onto her wound, making her whimper a bit, but Humphrey realized what he was doing. That bandage has gauze in it, and it will completely stop the bleeding in a few minutes. Humphrey put his paws onto the bandage, and it was cold too.
It's enough to ease her pain, so she doesn't suffer anymore. Humphrey watched his dad stood up after waiting for a few minutes. He looked down, and he was right. The bandage stopped the bleeding, and he doesn't see Kate in pain anymore.
Kate was happy that his dad made it in time. She couldn't forget the moment he saved her from the hunters, and he saved her again.
"Kate" Humphrey cried in tears of joy. He hugged Kate gently, and Kate widened her smile, letting tears of joy loose. Winston and Eve smiled and wanted to thank Humphrey's dad for saving their daughter again but now's not the right time.
Humphrey began to notice the fire started to rage throughout the forest. He looked at his dad and the other dogs' parents before noticing something. He forgot that one important pack law they have. The pack law warned, "Do not attack a dog, cat, or any animal that are in the hands of them." He forgot that story Kate told him after he met her.
Humphrey slowly turned his attention to Sargent's dad. He is angry, out of all of them. The fire continues to rage along with the humans' anger from both sides. The Blight Corps didn't expect them to be here, but now they are starting to get serious.
Humphrey widened his eyes and began dragging Kate from the event as the other dogs began pushing everyone else out.
"Humphrey, what are you doing," Kate asked him.
"We need to leave now or else we'll get drugged into their war" he replied fearfully. In terms of the worst fight in the animal kingdom, humans are the number one who has the worst and the biggest fight ever. However, Humphrey and the others can't run for a mile to escape from the event. They need to hide behind big objects that can take hits from bullets before it's too late.
Humphrey suddenly picked Kate up onto his back and began to run as fast as he could. He can hear his friends shouting at other animals to get out of this place as fast as possible. Humphrey looked back to see his dad...no...every human grabbing their weapon. Their eyes began to show the greed for blood. The desire to kill. The obsession to destroy. The concept of violence is intrinsic to human nature that rivals mother nature. One of the realities about humans. They can be violent, if not the most violent creature on the planet. Who seeks freedom until their enemies are destroyed.
The air was vibrating along with the raging fire. The presences were so heavy on their backs because things that are happening right now are getting worst.
Humphrey ran even faster once he saw all of them aiming their weapons at each other. Everyone else in Jasper Park is going to witness the full power of the humans. Their full strength when they go to war.
Nothing is scarier than dragging into a war between humans. Humphrey had no other choice but to duck or hide behind a boulder. As long as it can protect him and Kate from the destruction, they can survive.
And with that, he slid around the corner, just in time to hide from the bullets as thousands of small explosion sounds occur. Everyone can see the golden light streaks flying past their heads and tails throughout the forest. Ripping trees, bushes, and taking chunks of boulders apart. The whizzing sound of the bullets breaking the sound barrier along with loud cracking sounds from the bullets hitting objects.
Everyone else was covering their ears from the constant sounds. Winston looked over at her daughter across the forest and saw that she was safe along with Humphrey. He was glad that Humphrey was able to protect her from this chaos.
They all turned their attention to the war. They can barely see anything from the repetitive light flashing and zipping bullets.
Then, they manage to see one member of the Blight Corps member jerking his body left and right from the impact of the bullets. Everyone was surprised to see that he's still standing despite taking all those bullets. It just shows that this is a sign that humans are evolving to the point where shooting at them with a bullet is pointless. The Blight Corps member was still standing from the damage, even from the life-threatening ones until he was taken out by getting shot in the head.
Humphrey looked at Kate and the bandage on her body. He decided to turn his full attention to his girlfriend instead of the fight because he doesn't need to worry about it. His dad and the others can handle it.
"How are you feeling," Humphrey asked her.
"I'm okay for now," she said, smiling as she looked back at him. She leaned in and gave Humphrey a very passionate kiss. She loves him so much, and she was glad that she met him. She couldn't express how much she loves him. It's too much, that's all she can say. She broke the kiss and gaze at his beautiful eyes until they heard this big ass roar coming from their side. That roar catches everyone's attention. They ripped their gaze from the main fight, and it was Sargent's dad who was roaring.
He was running towards the other side of the forest, and they began to realize that he's going head-on with the Silver Giant who was near Lilly and Garth. The Silver Giant aimed his rifle at him, but Sargent's dad quickly began ripping his gun apart with his AR 15. He cares about the Silver Giant's life because he wanted to make him suffer to his death. He doesn't want his life to end with a single move. He wanted to express his anger on him.
Sargent's dad unloads his rifle and literally threw the whole thing at him with full force, knocking him back as Sargent's dad got on top of him and began bashing his head with his fists with each roar.
He started to get even louder as tears began to arose underneath his eyes. His knuckles started to turn red with each hit on his face, but it wasn't enough for him to satisfy. Sargent's dad stood up and began stomping on him like a mad man. He hated them. He hated that he just find out his dog was killed, and it was clear speculation that the Blight Corps were responsible for this. He wanted to make them suffer.
The angry man finally stops curb stomping his face and pinned his face towards the ground as he glared at him.
Sargent's dad can't speak anymore. Everyone was terrified to see him, trying to speak, but the anger was too much for him as he was losing control of his body. His eyes were trying to roll back, and it finally did before he lifted his leg high up in the air and stomped his face once again. He slowly turned around and walked towards his rifle. He picked it up and replace a new clip. His breath turned hollow as he aimed his rifle at the fallen Blight Corps before he pulled the trigger, shooting his dead body rapidly and he repeats the same process until he is out of ammo.
Once he was out of ammo, he slowly dropped onto his knees and cried hard. Everyone finally understood why that pack law is important. The wraith from a pet owner is nothing like they saw before. Winston had to be honest. He's scarier than his mate, not because he's a human. It's because his anger was on a whole another level, and Sargent's death impacted him so much.
Humphrey turned his attention to his dad who seems to be glaring at the leader of the Blight Corps. He began to notice that his dad hasn't shot the shotgun he stole from the hunters that much. He's up to something. He looked at Kiana's dad and called his name before asking him to give him a smoke grenade. Kiana's dad was confused by this but he doesn't hesitate and toss him the grenade.
Humphrey's dad turned his gaze at him again before pulling the pin and tossing it towards him.
"Wait, what are you doing" Kiana's dad questioned.
"Keeping the king busy" Humphrey's dad responded before flipping the shotgun over his shoulder before literally running towards them with his Ballistic shield up.
"Dude, where do you think you're going? Are you a mad man?!" The huskies' dad screamed. Humphrey's dad didn't respond to them, and Humphrey was worried that he might've lost his mind like Sargent's dad. There's no way he could charge recklessly like that until he began to realized what he meant by saying "Keeping the king busy."
He wanted to get the leader's full attention, so he doesn't plot anything else in his mind. He has to do it in an old-fashioned way. Humphrey locked his eyes onto his father as he charged into the smoke. He couldn't see anything, but on the other side; the Raven Mocker was indeed plotting something in his mind. Never in his life was he more frustrated than he was in the war.
The Jormungandr told his comrades to not be noticed by other citizens, but it appears that they don't follow that rule. They have fewer people in their group, and they are desperate to find recruits.
Then, he heard something running towards him, which made him hammering his fist with his metal arm into something, but it made a loud bell sound along. He widened his eyes to find that he just punched a Ballistic shield out of nowhere.
And he didn't notice that Humphrey's dad was flying right behind him as he came around the corner after appearing from the smoke. His eyes were glowing bright bloody red from the sunlight reflection, and he kicked him hard. Hard enough to send him flying through the weakened tree he was hiding at.
Humphrey's dad quickly picked up his shield and began rushing towards him again. The Raven Mocker stood up and pulling the trigger, shooting him multiple times on the shield, but he won't budge.
He dropped his rifle and pulled his pistol out, repeating the same process. He had no time to reload because his enemy was within twenty-one feet away from him. He can rush at him at any second very fast. Humphrey's dad then charged at him, knocking his pistol with his shield before punching him. The Raven Mocker grabbed his shield, yanking it from his hands before punching square right onto his chest, sending him only a few feet away from him. Humphrey's dad charged in again, and the Blight Corps leader threw the shield. Humphrey's dad dodged it in time while the Jormungandr pulled his left hand back.
As the smoke slowly began to fade away from the area, everyone saw the Raven Mocker jumping in the air with his metal arm cocked in the back. He then launches his fist towards him, blowing the smoke towards the animals. They couldn't see what's going on until the smoke completely faded away and saw something that shocked them.
Instead of blocking it, Humphrey's dad parries it, which did less damage from the punch. The Raven Mocker realized this and jumped back, dodging another punch he sends. He pulled out his knife and started attacking him.
Humphrey began to notice that they are recreating the fight scene from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Humphrey's dad did everything he could to avoid the knife and his left arm. Parry, parry, parry, another parry until he dodged left and right from both of his arms before sending a right hook and spin jumped back kicked him.
The Raven Mocker was slammed against another weakened tree before Humphrey's dad was flying towards him, giving a flying knee to his chest. He was about to punch him until he blocked it with his robotic arm and counterattack him by giving a straight punch to his face. He tried to punch him with his left arm, but Humphrey's dad caught it and throw him to the ground.
However, the Raven Mocker quickly got up to his feet before grabbing him by his neck, bringing him close to his face, and push him away. He jumped in the air, pulling his fist back. Humphrey's dad rolled over to the side, dodging his punch as it shattered the ground. He immediately stood up and blocked his incoming punch before he punched him twice with his left arm. Humphrey's dad still blocked it, but it sends him flying about a few feet away from him.
The leader of the Blight Corps front kicked him to a tree before pulling out another knife and try to stab him from above. They slid across the tree, and Humphrey's dad slid right behind him and suplex him to the ground. He grabbed his Ballistic Shield and blocked his incoming attacks.
He dodged his slashes, blocked another before he dropped his knife, and gave him an overhand right punch to his cheek. Humphrey's dad quickly switched the shield to his other hand while the Raven Mocker tried to kick him before throwing a horizontal slashing motion. Humphrey's dad ducked, and at the same time, he tried to stab him but he blocked it. Denting his metal arm before giving him an uppercut and smash his mask with his shield.
It then broke the pieces from the top right of his mask, revealing half of his face before he yanked the shield again and toss it into the wilderness. He turned his attention back to his opponent before getting roundhouse kicked to the face. Then, the Raven Mocker pulled out the machete he used for a long time, making him dodge and taking several steps back. He began to wonder why he didn't use that earlier because it has a longer reach than a combat knife. The Raven Mocker was panting hard.
He had white long hair and his eyes are red. Bloodshot red.
Humphrey's dad continues backing up to his friends who are still shooting at the Blight Corps. The Raven Mocker pulled that same canister out and pulled the pin before slicing the canister with his machete. Applying flames onto the blade and adding more imitation and distraction.
Meanwhile, Humphrey and the others were still hiding from the hailstorm of bullets. Humphrey still has his eyes on his dad and wondered what he was doing. What is he up to?
"Humphrey" someone called. Humphrey turned his attention and saw his friends right in front of him.
"Wait, how did you guys get here," he asked.
"Well, we crawled towards you duh. What else do you think we would do?" Jade smiled, making him chuckled.
Humphrey was about to say something until he heard Hummer yelled.
"WATCH OUT HUMPHREY!"
Humphrey was confused by this until he was tackled down by someone else. He opened his eyes and looked up to see the Smoke Wolf. One of the dogs from the Coyote King. She began to evilly smile at him seductively as she looked down at his body before staring down at his face.
"My...I'm starting to regret that I didn't fuck you before back at the camp. You are one FINE-looking wolf, aren't you" she said smiling.
"What? How did you guys get here" Humphrey asked her until he was cut off by Jade.
"KEEP YOUR PAWS OFF OF HIM!" She yelled as Kate started growling loudly. Jade was about to jump in until she smells the others. They all looked back to find them surrounding their opponents.
Hummer and the others wasted no time and started fighting them because they have more numbers than they do. The Smoke Wolf didn't care about her comrades. She was too busy in a trance as she stared down at Humphrey. She couldn't stop drooling for some odd reason. Humphrey used this opportunity to push her over and pinned her to the ground. No matter what rank he is, he is still a wolf.
The Smoke Wolf smiled at him before giggling seductively.
"Someone's feisty. Are you planning to dominate me? I think I should be the one on top, so I can express how sexy you are" she said, licking his cheeks. Kate dropped her jaws, and the Smoke Wolf kicked him in the balls.
Humphrey let out a painful screamed and began holding onto his balls. The Smoke Wolf smiled as she gently pushed him over and looked at him lovely.
"Now's my time to shine" she stated, reaching down until she was tackled by someone. It was Kate. She pinned her down and tried to go for her throat, but she plays a dirty move by hitting her on the bandage, making her whimper. The Smoke Wolf took this opportunity and shove her harshly, but Kate didn't back down. She tackled her again, and they both began rolling from the boulder and into the middle of the incoming bullets.
"K-Kate" Humphrey called out loudly, but she paid no attention to him. Kate glared at the Smoke Wolf and she glared back at her. Kate charged in very fast and checked her to the ground. She dodged her dirty tricks and began slapping her as hard as she can. She's not letting her taking her Humphrey away. She is keeping her promise for the rest of her life. She continues slapping her until she did that same dirty trick again, but Kate refused to react to the pain. She opened her jaws as wide as she could to go for her throat. The Smoke Wolf growled and began rubbing her bandage hard. Kate winced from the pain, and the Smoke Wolf then head-butted her and got out from her grasps. Kate snarled loudly and immediately stood right in front of her Humphrey, escaping from the hailstorm.
She kept her eyes on her opponent. Kate is willing to die here for Humphrey. This would she has is not stopping her from protecting Humphrey. She can keep doing this all day long until her enemy is destroyed.
The girls both kept glaring at each other as the Smoke Wolf was walking towards them slowly to avoid friendly fire. They halted their offensive mode and waited for one of them to make a move. They waited, waited, and waited with burning glares from both girls.
Kate snarled loudly, showing that she's an alpha and the best one in the pack. The Smoke Wolf didn't even care about her status and showed her that she is one fearless dog.
Then...all of a sudden...there was an oooeee sound, echoing throughout the forest. It sounds like it's far away, but it's so loud that it's even louder than thousands of gunshots.
This was Jasper's first time to hear that kind of a sound. For some odd reason, it began sending very cold bizarre chills through their body. It's something that they never experienced before, and there's more than one sound. It's coming from the North and the South.
Humphrey and the dogs recognized that sound. It was an air raid siren, coming from Canada and the United States of America. They all have enlarged eyes and turned to their parents, only to find them smiling their faces off.
"Shoot our location" Humphrey's dad stated loudly. And with that, flares are being shot to the sky under the solar eclipse. Humphrey and the others heard a blowing sound near them and catching their attention.
It was Jade's mother, launching an SOS balloon to the sky. But that's not the only one that's happening. Everyone stopped shooting when they heard that siren. Humphrey and his friends turned their gaze at the Blight Corps, and they were all shaken up while on their side, the humans who restored faith in humanity were not.
Humphrey began to wonder how did they get the air raid siren to activate until something caught in his eyes. Over at Jade's mother position, she was live-streaming the event, making the dogs and him gasped loudly.
Whenever there's an air raid siren going off, the army...is coming.
Smart...Very smart. Live-streaming while fighting a small group of terrorists and catching the President or the Prime Minister's attention before ordering their military to take action. DAAAYUM SON. This is the point where electronics and technologies are getting useful lol. One more chapter to go, and we're all set for me to write a chapter for Five Alphas, One Omega. We're getting close guys and girls. I can feel your god damn hunger for reading that story lol. What did you guys think? What will happen next? I'm TheRavenMocker. Be a raven, mock the ravens. We'll see you guys on the next flight.
