No matter how many times Scotty told her that she didn't feel neglected, Mandy felt that way and tried to balance her budding relationship with her friendship. With the addition of school, she was tired almost all of the time. She was glad that the second semester was wrapping up. On campus, not many people knew that she was seeing Gabby. And she had to control her own emotions when she saw other women trying their hand at the sophomore. One day, Mandy couldn't hold it inside and pulled Gabby away from a group of people and into a corner. "What's up?" Gabby asked coolly.
"I see how she's all on you and it's making me mad." She shuddered, hating how possessive she was feeling. Especially since she hadn't committed to actually being with her. Gabby laughed. "It's not funny."
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't know you… felt that way." Gabby hugged her and put her face into her shoulder. "It's kind of sexy."
Mandy glanced around before allowing herself to be kissed. "Well, well, well," a voice said. Mandy's heart stopped. They paused their kiss, looking around to see Callie smiling at them. "Oh, it's you. Hey, girl."
"Heeey," Callie sang. "I see you two have advanced your friendship." Mandy smiled as Gabby nodded. "Well, I'll just leave y'all to it. Mandy, see you in class."
"Yes. And thank you, Callie."
They walked toward her room, quiet. "Why didn't you speak to Callie?" Gabby didn't answer as she lay down on the bed. "Hello?"
"I'm still embarrassed that I kissed her during that stupid game."
She waved her off. "Don't be. And don't be rude to Callie. She's good people."
"Come here." Butterflies began floating in Mandy's belly. "I don't want to talk about her right now, okay? I want to talk about us."
"What about us?" Mandy asked sitting on the edge of the bed knowing what she meant. After doing some research, she'd concluded that maybe she was bisexual. Saying it was one thing, but acting on it in a permanent way was something totally different. But one thing she knew for certain was that she didn't want to lose Gabby. "I like us."
Gabby grabbed her waist pulling her backward making her giggle loudly. "You do?" She responded kissing her softly. The kiss took a turn and soon the room was filled with their heavy breathing and light moans. "I want you so bad," the sophomore whispered into the freshman's mouth. Mandy froze. "Sssorry, I was just supposed to think that."
"Have you ever…?" Gabby nodded. "With just girls?"
"I tried with a guy once, but it was a disaster."
Mandy laughed feeling around for Gabby's hand. "Well, before you ask, I have had sex with my ex-boyfriend."
"Did you like it?"
She nodded. "I did, but I was also thinking about you the last time."
"Thinking about me how?" Mandy planted another kiss on Gabby grabbing a fistful of her shirt. "Like you wanted to…?"
"You know how shy I am, so don't ask me questions like that," she chuckled. The urges she felt overpowered her and soon, she was kissing one of her best friends passionately. Gabby climbed on top of her for the second time, sliding her hand into Mandy's pants. "Wait… wait… wait." She grasped her wrist. "Go slow."
Gabby nodded and kissed her into silence. When her finger pads glided between Mandy's legs, she shook. Over the initial shock, she closed her eyes and accepted her touch. "Feels good, baby?"
Looking at Gabby, she saw that her eyes were soft and they smiled at each other as Gabby began unbuttoning her jeans, jerking them down, taking her panties with them.
"Oh my God!" Slapping a hand over her mouth, Mandy bit her own fingers. Gabby put her face between her legs and Mandy touched her braids, collecting some loose ones. Her tongue was lighter than Tucker's, meticulous and unrushed. "I'm about to… I'm about to come, Gabrielle."
"Okay," she said kissing her gently.
Mandy put her head back. "Shit."
"How was that?" She asked putting her lips and tongue against her date's so that she could taste herself. "You taste good, frosh."
"Be quiet." She must have had a second heart because her first one failed her, and somehow, she still kept breathing. Mandy wiped her face as a tear fell. "That felt amazing."
Gabby smiled as they kissed again. A sense of braveness fell over Mandy and she put her hand on Gabby's waist tentatively. "You don't have to, Miranda."
"Be quiet or I'll lose my nerve," she confessed in a gentle tone. She'd thought about this moment so many times and wondered how she'd go about it. Mandy unbuttoned Gabby's jeans, pulling them off awkwardly. Between her thighs, she inhaled, unsure of what to do next. Hooking her panties, she pulled them down. With a deep breath, she licked Gabby slowly. When her body popped, she stopped for a second before continuing. Her hands moved up and slinked up her shirt, touching her bra, moving it to find her nipples. Hearing Gabby moan made her wetter than she'd ever been.
"Miranda." Mandy ignored her. "Miranda!"
Gabby pushed her off and she flailed backward. "What… am I... doing it wrong?"
"No. Not at all," the older woman laughed. "Take off your shirt." Mandy did as she was told, watching Gabby do the same. Their eyes never left each other's bodies and Mandy's mouth dropped open. She had a thought of: What am I doing? What are we doing? Am I gay now? Gabby settled on top of her, licking her fingers before easing them between Mandy's legs. This feels so good. How many times is she going to make me come? Gabby's other hand touched her neck firmly and Mandy whimpered, rocking.
"Fuck… me," she said.
Putting her legs on either side of Mandy, Gabby sat up, their silky buttons kissing and they both released high-pitched moans. Moist lips on her own nipples sent her body rocketing. Two. "I'm coming!"
"Me… too," Mandy said gripping Gabby's butt. She fingered Gabby confidently and soon the sophomore was moving uninhibitedly, shaking the beds.
When they were finished, they cuddled together in their nakedness. "I didn't know you had it in you, frosh."
"Me either." The smell of a woman, the taste, the softness, it was all better than she could have imagined. But she knew it was only because it was Gabby. Her Gabby. One of her best friends, who knew her inside and out—literally. She smiled as they kissed again. "What are your plans for the summer? What are you doing?" Mandy asked.
"You."
"Stop it. I'm serious." The school year was coming to an end and that made her sad.
"Um, probably working at my dad's shop, getting minimum wage and thinking about you." Mandy blushed. "What about you?"
Yawning, she took a second to think about her answer. There were two internships with her name on it and she just had to choose one. Mandy just shrugged. "I don't know yet."
Gabby nodded and they were quiet in their own thoughts. "Do you think this is just a phase?"
"What?"
"You and me. And what we did or what we're doing?"
Mandy shook her head. "I don't understand."
Gabby cleared her throat. "Are we both perpetuating the women's college stereotype and falling for the first woman who makes us feel good?"
A laugh bolted from her lips as Mandy sat up and covered her chest with the covers. "I don't know, but I don't want to think about it too much. I mean, we like each other, isn't that enough?"
"Yes, but I don't want our friendship to get ruined because we decided to explore, you know?" Gabby's face held concern and Mandy licked her lips.
"I know."
Gabby sat up, too, dropping her head on her shoulder. "You're my best friend. You and Scott and if this continues and something happens, I'd hate to lose either one of you."
"I'd hate to lose you, too. You know that," Mandy told her softly. "So, what are we saying?"
"I don't know." Gabby kissed Mandy's shoulder sending a chill down her spine. "You could break my heart."
Miranda's heart skipped a beat. "I wouldn't do that."
"Well, what if you find a guy that you like more than me?"
"Well, what if you fall in love with another girl?" They stared at one another again. Mandy wanted to tell her that she didn't see herself falling for anyone else so hard or so fast. But there were so many other things to consider. If they called themselves dating, could she introduce Gabby to her parents as her girlfriend? Would they be able to hold hands and kiss and touch in public like she'd been able to do with Tucker? Or would they have to hide their love away, being secret and would she have to pretend that a woman hadn't stolen her heart? The questions danced in her head and she felt her eyes close. And she was sleep before either of them could ask any more questions.
