Ahsoka's return, along with the younglings from their gathering, had her covered in dirt, grime, and scratches and bruises. Vex immediately brought her to their shared room, setting to work on cleaning her body, and gauzing the larger injuries, before she stops him, lying down and bringing him with her, as she just lay there, the two of them within each others arms.

"Sometimes, I wonder if I will make it back home. Whether I will make it back to you." She admits gently, burying her head into the crook of his neck.

"And what do you think after that?" He asks.

"That I have to make it back. I can't leave you, just as you can't leave me." She responds.

"Rather dangerous way of thinking." Vex chuckles softly. "But, if it means you can come back, I'll take it."

"What about you? Do you ever feel out of your depth?" She asks.

"More often than not." He affirms. "But, I have a similar mindset to you. I have to return. While I can't always guarantee that you will make it back, I will always make it my mission to return to you."

"Do you have such little faith in me?" She teases.

"No. But one must prepare for all possibilities. As scary, and heart-breaking as it may be, death is always going to happen. The most we can do, is fight, for each other, for those who cannot, just to continue another day." Vex admits. The door opens, as Anakin walks in, only to stop in his tracks, at the sight of the two.

"I'll… come back later." He goes to leave, only for Vex to close and lock the door, keeping him inside.

"No. I could use a hand with fixing her up." Vex admits, much to Ahsoka's chagrin.

"I'm fine." She argues.

"It's this, or the healers." Vex threatens, and she immediately shuts up, sitting up, for Anakin to finish what Vex started, while Vex continues to reassure her.

"I never liked the healers either." Anakin sighs.

"I've heard." Both Vex and Ahsoka state in unison, both chuckling, as Anakin tries to glare, but the smile on his face keeps it at bay. "I don't think anyone really likes going there." Vex notes.

"Other than the healers themselves." Anakin points out, Vex nodding along, as Ahsoka is fully patched up, her exhaustion already putting her to sleep, Vex tucking her in, as he looks to Anakin, who watches him closely.

"I know, Anakin." Vex stops him before he can speak. "She's like family, to you. I won't harm her, and I'll do my best to help her, unless the Force tells me not to."

"But why won't you defy the Force? Help her anyway?" He asks. Vex sighs.

"Not only am I physically kept away, but because some things must be learned the hard way, as much as it may bring pain." He reveals.

"Would you say that about every lesson learned?" Anakin asks.

"No." Vex immediately denies. "There are some things, that you should always have support with. Death, and loss, always needs a support."

"I wish it was the case for me." Anakin mutters softly. Vex places a hand on his shoulder.

"Hey, you're special. The Jedi have never really had someone like you to help. They don't know what to do different." Vex assures. "But you'll always have me, and Ahsoka too. And I doubt Obi-Wan would turn you away if he knew how much pain you go through."

"I just don't want to burden people." Anakin admits.

"You're not a burden. You can't carry the weight of the Galaxy on your shoulders alone." Vex notes.

"The Jedi seem to think I should." Anakin grumbles.

"No. They read the prophecy without understanding the ultimate truth." Vex admits. "Balance, is not with one side destroyed. Light, cannot exist without darkness."

"But then, what does that mean I'm meant to do?" Anakin asks.

"I don't know." Vex responds. "Just trust in yourself, and in the Force. Your path will be clear when it is time." What Vex doesn't say, however, is that he may not like the possibilities of what may happen.

Whenever Ahsoka is sent on missions with Vex being kept behind, she often returned, sadder and sadder, as she witnesses the horrors of war. In the span of a single war, she seems to age beyond others, her first hand knowledge a curse, a burden, that she only seems to share with him.

One day, it brings her to tears, as she enters their room, dashing into Vex's arms, crying as he can only hold her, feel her emotions, feel the imprints of her memories, of her experiences. It's this day, when Vex storms the council, Ahsoka having fallen asleep in his arms, when he tucked her in, as he often did after such missions.

He opens the doors, shocking the council, who were talking with the chancellor. With a simple gesture, the comlink connection is cut, leaving the Jedi with him.

"Either put me back on active duty, or I go without authorization, and you can take it up with your soldiers." He demands, earning glares from everyone but Obi-Wan and Plo Koon.

"And what makes you think we will not just place you in a cell?" Master Poof questions haughtily.

"Because you would lose standing with the 501st." Vex answers. "I've fought by their side, saved them from one of your own. Sacrificed a fucking arm for them. The only Jedi to have done anything to try and help them live through battles, are Obi-Wan, Plo Koon, Ahsoka, and Anakin. The rest of you are either sitting on your ass watching, or forcing them to die in suicidal missions!"

"He's not wrong." Obi-Wan admits. "I wouldn't be surprised if the entire 501st did manage to break him out the moment you put him in a cell."

"Besides." Plo Koon adds. "Nothing bad ever happened with him fighting on the front lines. He's helped win many battles. And with how things are going, our losses increasing, it would be good to have someone who could help turn the tides." Vex bows to both the Jedi who defend him, showing them respect, before he turns to glare at Windu.

"I've said my piece. You know how to contact me." He leaves the same way he came, tearing open the doors, before they shakily close behind him. When he returns to his room, he finds Anakin waiting, sending him a small smile.

"Someone stormed the Castle, eh?" He questions knowingly, with Vex moving over to Ahsoka's sleeping form.

"For a good reason." He notes, and Anakin sighs.

"She's having panic attacks." Anakin admits. "The war is taking it's toll."

"Which is the real reason I wanted to be put back in the field. You won't always be able to help her in her moments of need. I can try to be there instead." Vex explains softly.

"I know. And even if they don't let you go, I'm happy to sneak you on board. The whole 501st would be happy to." Anakin assures.

"I know. And I really appreciate it." Vex assures.

This was days before Anakin and Ahsoka were sent to Muunilist. Vex was denied leave, and the Council held him until the 501st had departed, much to his anger and frustration.

Following the Force, Vex continued to track the 501st, helping in some occasions, such as retrieving Rex's algorithm from the Techno Union. When the Force finally allowed him to, he helped Ahsoka, as she saved the Martez sisters, and followed her to Mandalore with Bo-Katan. After Order 66, Vex and Ahsoka temporarily split once more, a way to hide. In time, they find each other again, spending what time they can together, in each others arms.

A/N - This is one chapter that I will continue to add to overtime. For the short little moments, or explanations for what happens between some events. So far, it's mostly Vex, Anakin and Ahsoka, with a little caring towards Ahsoka after missions. This specific document, will be about all the moments in between the Clone Wars.

I should also note, that while Anakin does still, obviously, become Vader, he isn't truly the evil man in the movies. Yes, he will kill, but whenever he can, when the Emperor cannot see him, cannot control his body, he is merciful. He lets people live. But, Palpy is more often than not, watching his every move. Vader/Anakin always regrets his actions, but he is following the will of the Force, and Vex drilled into him, that if not trusting himself, trust, and listen, to the force. It guides him down a dark path, yes, and Vader/Anakin realizes that, but he has faith, where he lacks hope. Take care and stay safe.
