Vex was tinkering with his fighter, the Archangel, when they arrived. Immediately after, he was called into the briefing room. A young female was cuffed, sitting in a chair as Davits Draven began to speak to her. General Dodonna was also present, listening in, alongside General Antoc Merrick, leader of all fighter groups.

"You're currently calling yourself Leanna Hallink, correct?" Davits asks rhetorically, before continuing. "Possession of unsanctioned weapons, forgery of Imperial documents, aggravated assault, escape from custody, resisting arrest." He drawls the last few offenses. "Imagine if the Imperial Authorities had found out who you really were, Jyn Erso. That is your given name, is it not?" Jyn looked to Davits, staring into his eyes. "Jyn Erso, daughter of Galen Erso. A known Imperial collaborator in weapons development." Mon Mothma then walks into view, looking to Jyn with a calm, stoic expression.

"What is this?" Jyn finally asks.

"It's a chance for you to make a fresh start." Mon Mothma states. "We think you might be able to help us." Davits takes a seat, still watching Jyn carefully. "This is Cassian Andor, Rebel Intelligence." Mon Mothma states, looking to the man in question, who was leaning against a console.

"When was the last time you were in contact with your father?" Cassian asks, walking over to Jyn.

"Fifteen years ago." Jyn answers truthfully.

"Any idea where he's been all that time?" Cassian then questions. Jyn pauses a moment, before speaking again.

"I'd like to think he's dead." She admits. "Makes things easier." Merrick glances to Vex, who shakes his head in sorrow.

"Easier than what? That he's been a tool of the Imperial War Machine?" Cassian wonders aloud.

"I've never had the luxury of political opinions." Jyn retorts.

"Really?" Cassian asks in disbelief. "When was your last contact with Saw Gerrera?" There's a decent pause, as Jyn and Cassian stare each other down, Jyn the first to look away.

"It's been a long time." She responds. Cassian nods faintly.

"But he'll remember you though, wouldn't he? He might agree to meet you if you came as a friend." Cassian states. She looks away, when Davits speaks again.

"We're up against the clock here, girl, so if there's nothing to talk about we'll just put you back where we found you." He states cruelly.

"I was a child. Saw Gerrera saved my life, he raised me, but I have no idea where he is, I haven't seen him in years." Jyn explains.

"We know how to find him, that's not our problem." Cassian notes. "What we need is someone who can get us through the door without being killed."

"You're all Rebels, aren't you?" Jyn asks.

"Yes, but Saw Gerrera's an extremist. He's been fighting on his own since he broke away from the Rebellion." Mon Mothma explains. "His militancy, has caused the Alliance a great many problems."

'And yet you still need his help, over and over again.' Vex thinks to himself.

"We have no choice now but to try and mend that broken trust." Mon Mothma admits.

"What does this have to do with my father?" Jyn questions. Mon Mothma and Davits share a glance, before she then nods to Cassian. He then moves closer to Jyn.

"There's an Imperial defector in Jedha. A pilot. He's been held by Saw Gerrera. He's claiming the Emperor is creating a weapon with the power to destroy entire planets." Cassian explains.

"The only way to do that, is with the use of Kyber Crystals." Vex notes quietly to General Merrick.

"The Pilot says he was sent by your father." Cassian adds.

"We need to stop this weapon before it is finished." Mon Mothma states.

"Captain Andor's mission is to authenticate the pilot's story and then if possible, find your father." Davits informs.

"It appears he is critical to the development of this super-weapon. Given the gravity of the situation and your history with Saw, we are hoping he will help us locate your father and return him to the senate for testimony." Mon Mothma explains. From the shadows, and old, tired Bail Organa steps into view.

"And if I do it?" Jyn asks.

"Then we'll make sure you go free." Mon Mothma assures. Jyn smiles, and accepts, her and Cassian departing. Davits leaves soon after. With the three main founders and Merrick left alone, Vex finally speaks aloud.

"You should know that Gerrera has probably built a decent amount of information on this super-weapon." He states.

"Why do you say that?" Bail Organa asks in curiosity.

"I said it to Antoc earlier, but the only way to provide enough power to destroy a planet, is with Kyber Crystals." Vex reiterates.

"They would need millions to do that." Bail notes.

"No." Vex denies. "They would only need about thirty, minimum." He then sighs. "Near the end of the war, General's Kenobi and Skywalker were investigating the death of a Jedi Knight on Utapau. It lead them to finding a Kyber Crystal almost as big as an R22 Spearhead. They managed to destroy it, but this wasn't the last time I encountered such a crystal.

While working with Ahsoka and her Fulcrum network, there were intercepted messages about precious cargo. Several times, the resulting destruction caused an enormous shockwave of energy, one almost exactly as it was described by the Jedi when they destroyed the Kyber Crystal back then. Not only that, but there were two cases when I worked alongside the Phoenix Cell. One of which, was found by Saw Gerrera and Ezra Bridger."

"Are you saying…" Mon Mothma trails off.

"This has been in the making for a very long time." Vex affirms. "I'll inform my fleet. We'll be on standby should you need us." He then begins to walk off. "I'll be working on my ship if you need me."

As Vex worked and toiled away at the Archangel, a sudden power surge from across the galaxy halts him in his tracks. The screams of thousands soon follows.

"Sir." A comms officer rushes over to Vex, who pulls himself from beneath his fighter, back in the moment now that someone had spoken. "We've received a message." Vex jumps up, and the officer guides him into the briefing room, to one of the consoles, Davits arriving moments later.

"A coded message from Captain Andor, sirs." Another officer explains. "Weapon confirmed. Jedha destroyed. Mission target located at Eadu. Please advise."

"Destroyed?" Davits asks in shock, the comms officer nodding shakily. "Proceed. Tell him my orders still stand. Tell him to proceed with haste, and keep to the plan. We have no idea what he's building for the Empire. We have to kill Galen Erso while we have the chance." He walks away, leaving a frustrated Vex behind.

"Son of a bitch." He hisses, looking to the comms officer. "Tell Andor I cancel Davit's orders. Observe, and try to make contact. Do not kill. I repeat, do not kill, or face court martial and firing squad." With his piece said, Vex stalks across the base. For the next few hours, he wanders across, before he hears the sound of fighters launching. Immediately, with a scowl on his face, he returns to the briefing room, finding Davits and several others around the comms officer from before. "What have you done?" He asks venomously. Davits doesn't answer, so Vex looks to the comms officer. "What did he order?"

"Squadron strike on Eadu." The officer answers. Vex turns to glare at Davits.

"Are you dense?!" He shouts in anger. "Do you not remember the part where Galen sent the Pilot, according to those rumours?!"

"And that's all they are. Rumours." Davits retorts calmly.

"Force dammit. You really don't get it." Vex sighs heatedly. "He sent him to deliver a message. He might never have truly been working for the Empire. He could have been a double fucking agent you dumb shit!" Vex shouts. The doors hiss open, as Mon Mothma and Bail Organa enter.

"What's all this shouting about?" Bail asks.

"Draven has just ordered an air strike on Galen Erso, who is the only fucking person who can tell us about this super-weapon!" Vex explains with a hiss.

"But what about Saw?" Mon Mothma asks.

"He's dead." Vex retorts. "Killed when that weapon fired on Jedha." He then turns to the comms officer. "Contact that squadron. Tell them to abort immediately."

"I can't, sir. They're already on radio silence for the whole mission." The officer explains in sorrow. Vex clenches his fists, rounding on Davits.

"If you weren't so damn good at your job, I'd have you sent to the Empire with gift wrapping. Don't make another fuck up like this again." Vex snarks, looking to the officer. "If Andor contacts you, tell him that his dumb ass mentor is to blame for whatever happens next." Vex then storms out, brushing past Mon Mothma and Bail, making his way to his fighter, entering the cockpit and running through it's diagnostics.

'Are you alright?' The inbuilt astromech asks.

"I'll be fine, Arsix." Vex assures. "I'm just hoping to be able to fly and shoot down some Imperials soon. I need to blow off some steam that the sims just wont fix."

'Idiots in high places?' The droid asks knowingly.

"As always." Vex answers with a sigh. "How's the fleet?"

'Valkyrie is ready for combat. She'll be joining us if there is any combat.' Arsix assures. 'Only possible issue is distance between where she is and where the battle will occur.'

"That's alright" Vex notes. "Tell them to send her fighter squadrons here. We'll at least have some more firepower on hand if she might be late to the battle."

The moment Andor and the others arrived, a grand meeting was called, summoning all of the Rebellion present members into attendance.

"We must scatter the fleet. We have no recourse but to surrender." A lady with ebony coloured skin declares in fear, her words causing others to speak among themselves.

"Are we really talking about disbanding something that we've worked so hard to create?" Bail asks calmly.

"We can't just give in!" Admiral Raddus agrees with Bail's idea to keep fighting.

"We joined an alliance, not a suicide pact." A man states.

"We've only now managed to gather all of our forces, the cells that had been scattered among the stars." Bail retorts.

"Gather our forces? General Draven has already blown up an Imperial base." Another man declares.

"A decision that needed to be made." Davits defends himself.

"If it's war you want, you'll fight alone." The woman declares.

"If that's how it's going, why have an alliance at all?" The first man adds.

"If she's telling the truth, we need to act now." Raddus notes, gesturing to Jyn.

"Councilors, please." Mon Mothma calms them momentarily, but they continue to talk.

"It's simple. The Empire has the means of mass destruction, the Rebellion does not." Antoc states.

"A Death Star, that's nonsense." The second man says with disbelief.

"Tell that to Jedha." Vex states, though he is mostly ignored.

"What reason would my father have to lie? What benefit would it bring him?" Jyn asks.

"To lure our forces into a final battle to destroy us once and for all." Davits says, his mind immediately going for the worst case.

"Risk everything, based on what? The testimony of a criminal? The dying words of her father, an Imperial Scientist." Man one says.

"But don't forget the Imperial Pilot." Man 2 adds.

"My father gave his life so that we may have a chance to defeat this." Jyn declares.

"So you've told us." An elderly man states in distaste.

"If the empire has this kind of power, what chance to we have?" The lady asks in defeat.

"What chance do we have?" Jyn asks. "The question is what choice?" Her words gain the eyes of Antoc, and the other councilors. "Run, hide, plead for mercy, scatter your forces? You give way to an enemy this evil with this kind of power, and you condemn the galaxy an eternity of submission." All eyes are on her now. "The time to fight is now. Every moment you waste is another step closer to the ashes of Jedha." People begin to speak, but are silenced by each other. "Send your best troops to Scarif." The voices begin again. "Send the Rebel Fleet if you have to. You need to capture the Death Star Plans if there's any hope of destroying it."

"You're asking us to invade an Imperial Installation based on nothing but hope." The lady states.

"Rebellions are built on hope." Both Jyn and Vex say in unison, their voices carrying through the halls. The council then bickers, before Mon Mothma speaks up.

"I'm sorry, Jyn. But without the full support of the Council, the odds are too great." She apologises. Jyn, in a fit of frustration, departs first, making her way back to the main hanger. Vex follows her, as she meets with the Guardians of the Whills.

"You don't look happy." Baze notes.

"They prefer to surrender." Jyn states with distaste.

"And you?" Baze questions.

"She wants to fight." Chirrut states.

"Not the only one." Vex notes, walking up to them. "Several others do too, but unless someone actually does something to ignite their fires, they will stay idle."

"The Force is strong." Chirrut assures.

"Not sure four of us is enough." Jyn admits.

"How many do we need?" Baze asks.

"What do you mean?" Jyn asks. Baze points behind her, where Cassian and at least twenty troops gather. Outside, thirty five fighters make their landing.

"Seems you've got a good number of pilots too." Vex adds. "I can get them to join whatever attack the Alliance sends. But the rest, is up to you." He moves off, but halts in his steps, as Jyn converses with Cassian, and looks to Baze. "Baze." He calls. The Guardian looks to him, as particles from the floor begin to rise, morphing into a hand cannon just by his feet. "This might help against a large force." Vex then walks away, leaving the Rogue group to their schemes. He makes his way to the briefing room, as the Imperial Shuttle, now designated Rogue One, pulls away, he finds Mon Mothma and Bail walking side by side, and he joins them.

"Despite what the others say, war is inevitable." Mon Mothma states solemnly to Bail.

"Yes I agree." Bail admits.

"I wish they could all see that and pull the sticks out of their asses." Vex notes as he moves to their side.

"Well, I must return to Alderaan to inform my people that there will be no peace." He states. "We will need every advantage."

"Your friend… The Jedi." Mon Mothma states. Bail nods his head.

"He helped me and served the Republic well during the Clone Wars, and has lived in hiding since the Emperor's Purge, yes. I will send for him."

"Leia?" Vex asks. Bail merely smirk cheekily. "Thought so. But be quick on Alderaan." Vex then warns. "I fear that will be their first target."

"I'll be as quick as I can then. And warn my people of the possibility." Bail assures.

"Just try to make it out yourself." Vex states in concern. "My fleet will be on standby at all times. If you need support with evacuations, tell me."

"Send one of the frigates, just in case. Keep it on the far side of the Planet, or hidden by the moon." Bail states, as he walks off.

"Sir, yes sir." Vex smiles, before looking to Mon Mothma. "Can you keep the Council in check?" He asks.

"I'll manage. I wasn't a senator for nothing." She assures.

"Good," Vex sighs in relief. "Because I may have to run several unsanctioned missions in the future, just to help keep the Rebellion alive. Especially if Vader begins to hunt us down without rest."

"I'll leave that to you then." Mon Mothma states. They then separate, and Vex moves over to his Fighter Wing.

"General." His second in command, Hawkins, someone he feels somewhat familiar with, salutes him. "All wings are ready for combat. Fuel Tankers are in orbit."

"Good. Have everyone in their ships. We will need to be quick." He orders, putting on his gloves. "Have them tap into Alliance chatter as well, make sure everyone is ready at the drop of a hat for when the fleet jumps so we can jump with them." His words are followed, as he himself jumps into the cockpit of the Archangel.

A few hours later, the intercepted transmission is further intercepted, Hawkins and Vex catching it all.

"All wings, set course for Scarif. Make the jump once the first Rebel ship jumps." His orders are followed to the letter, as once the first ship jumps, so does the entirety of Valkyrie's fighter wing.

As Vex and his wings drop out of Hyperspace, the rest of the Rebel fleet soon follows. The comms chirp, as the Rebel Frequency blares to life.

"This is Admiral Raddus of the Rebel Alliance, all Squadron Leaders, report in." Raddus orders.

"Admiral, this is Blue leader, standing by" Merrick's voice filters through, followed by the rest.

"This is Gold Leader, standing by." Jon Vander

"This is Red Leader, standing by." Garven Dreis.

"Admiral, This is Archangel of Angel Squadron, Battleship Valkyrie, standing by." Vex

"Archdemon of Demon Squadron, standing by." Hawkins

"Lunar Wolf, of Wolfpack, standing by." An aged Broadside calls in, the old Shadow Squadron formed up as a new Wolfpack.

"Good to have you all aboard." Raddus assures. "Archangel, order your squads as is, I'll take care of Blue, Red and Gold." His words echo over the comms. "Red and Gold Squadrons, attack formations. Defend the Fleet. Blue Squadron, get to the surface before they close that gate."

"Copy you, Admiral." Merrick affirms. "Blue Squadron, on me!" As his pilots affirm, Vex orders his own men.

"Angels, Demons, on me. We're going to support the Rogues. Wolfpack, defend the fleet." Vex orders, gunning his fighter towards the Shield gate. "Admiral, Valkyrie is 30 minutes away. She'll support you on arrival." Vex's fighter soon passes by Merrick, his squadrons also doing so with ease. Their speed outclassed the normal strikecraft used by both Rebels and Imperials, having a special design Vex created himself. They pass through the shield gate with ease, though Vex notices as it closes, and three of Blue Squadron are killed by the shield, one pulling up to little and impacting it's framework, and one being gunned down by the turrets. By his count, seven of Blue Squadron made it past, and three were left above. The 27 fighters screamed through the air, making their way to the comms tower, noticing the walkers on the beach. "General, would you like the honors of taking out those walkers?" Vex asks.

"Would be our pleasure." He retorts. He takes his wingman and they fly towards the walkers, opening fire, tearing through the weak neck joint, felling the first of their foes. As the squadron flies by, the U-Wing opens its doors, circling around one of the other walkers, its mounted ion cannon firing through the front right leg until it breaks apart, felling their second walker. A group of X-Wings then fire upon the third, managing to cut it in half. "U-Wings, reinforce those troops on the beach. All fighters, on me, we have to shield them from air attack." Merrick orders.

"You heard him. Cover them." Vex affirms. A new TIE is launched against them, and they prove far faster than the norm. "Demons, keep covering the troops on the ground. Angels, lets thin out those TIE's." Vex orders. He then moves to Merrick's side. "General, I'll be your wingman."

"I've got one on my tail!" One of the Blue Squadron fighters calls desperately.

"I'm on him." Merrick assures, immediately tailing the offending TIE. Vex follows just behind, as Merrick guns down his quarry. The fighter saved then joins the formation, taking the left side.

"General, I've got a lander class on my scope. You see it?" Vex asks.

"I see him. Let's shoot him out of the sky." Merrick states, leading them.

"Angels 3, 5 and 9, watch us from a distance. If you see trouble, gun them down." Vex then orders. The TIE's open fire first, immediately gunning down the Blue Squadron fighter, as Merrick evades and gets one in return. Vex fires one of his missiles, aimed for the transport, only for one of the TIE's to block the shot, detonating instead.

"Generals, behind you!" Angel 5 warns.

"Merrick, evasive!" Vex orders. The two roll and dip, as the three TIE's behind them are soon shot out of the sky. A group of TIE's get past Hawkins, damaging her craft and destroying her wingman, before shooting out the engine of the U-Wing, forcing it down, resulting in an impact no one could survive. "Hawkins, status!"

"I'm hit. My wingman's down." Hawkins explains.

"Angels, headcount." Vex states.

"We've lost Angels 4 and 7." Angel 2 reports. Vex sighs in sorrow.

"Have the damaged craft move to the other side of the planet." He orders. "Merrick, that goes for your guys as well, and from the looks of it…" He trails off, taking a look at Merrick's X-Wing, the smoke trailing from its lower starboard engine. "You should go with them. We'll keep holding the fort." He notices down below, the Death Troopers firing upon the soldiers below. Vex immediately dives down, aiming towards the entrenched troopers, firing volleys of plasma bolts at them, tearing through armour and flesh alike before returning to the air, and gunning down another TIE. A distant explosion notes the destruction of the shuttle, and all hope for Rogue One to escape is lost. Vex looks to the antenna, seeing Jyn aligning it, he immediately swerves to cover her, gunning down a TIE that was lining up a gun run.

'You've got this, Jyn.' Vex thinks with a smile. As he flies around for another pass, an energy fluctuation gathers his attention, as the shield is destroyed.

"All damaged craft, jump back to home base. I repeat, all damaged craft, jump back to home base." Vex orders. "Admiral, are you receiving anything?" Vex asks.

"We just got the plans." Raddus affirms.

"Sir, we're detecting a massive object emerging from Hyperspace." One of his officers warns. The Death Star appears in view, and Vex knows what is going to happen, the cry of Kyber, and the buildup of energy. "All wings, scatter." He orders sadly. "There's nothing more we can do to help." Angel and Demon Squadron pull away, as the single reactor shot impacts the ocean, tearing through the satellite dish, and a mushroom cloud building and expanding. "You did well, Rogues." Vex says solemnly. "Even if no one else cares to see, I will forever remember what you did here today." He vows.

"All ships, prepare the jump to Hyperspace." Raddus orders. He makes it out of the atmosphere in time to see a lone Star Destroyer cut off the escape of a majority of the fleet. A familiar, now dark presence aboard it's bridge.

"Admiral!" Vex calls out in worry.

"Go." Raddus orders. "Don't risk the Valkyrie or your men on us." A piece of the MC75 detonates, the engines crippled, power fluctuating through the ship. Vex looks on in sorrow, knowing that if Anakin, no… Vader, is here, his ships won't last.

"I'm sorry, Admiral." Vex apologises.

"Don't be sorry for my own decisions." Raddus states. "Just make it out of here." The link is cut, as the ships power finally sparks into nothingness. The Star Destroyer is still firing on the Rebel fleet, and Valkyrie taking hits of it's own.

"All ships, full retreat." Vex orders solemnly. "There's nothing we can do but survive." Vex watches as the Valkyrie adjusts itself, before jumping to Hyperspace, a faint trail of smoke left in its wake. The Wolfpack had left with the Rebel fleet that could escape, so that was one less to worry about. The Demons and Angels soon made their jumps, as Vex lingered, his cloaked ship watching the aftermath. A shuttle and its escorts make their way to the Profundity. Vex immediately goes to intercept, firing upon the escort, but is unable to stop the Lambda from landing. He circles around the Profundity, before flying below, seeing the Tantive IV. It departs form the Profundity, and Vex can see the red saber in the docking area, Vader standing there in frustration. Vex looks to him in sorrow, the memories of his time with Anakin brimming to the surface, as he forces himself away, jumping into Hyperspace.

A/N - I re-watched Rogue one, and a few ideas formed. So, I decided to re-re-watch Rogue One, and write down the lines for the parts I wanted to work with… This is the result of it all.
Now, the type of fighters used by Vex's pilots, is a modified version of the ASF-X Shinden II from Ace Combat. They knew this would be a planet based attack, so they chose the vehicle in their arsenal that was more suited to atmospheric combat. The other fighter they have, is based off the Azov in Galaxy On Fire 2. At least now, You'll have a few ideas. Obviously the weapons will be different and all that, but on a side note, I am working on making the modified models of both vehicles, so I might be able to link them to you one day. Take care and stay safe.
