Pepa was frightened when the school bell tore her out of her thoughts and everyone else around her was already leaving the room. She let out a relieved sigh. Finally the hour was over. She quickly made her way to the schoolyard. She hated math and on top of that, she couldn't concentrate a bit today. Since she and Felíx were friends, they met every day in front of the school, but today there was nothing to see of him.

It worried her. Normally, Felíx was on time. It didn't seem like him to be late. To be on the safe side, she had asked her sister to give her an arepa today after the first hour. Just in case he had somehow injured himself or even worse had an accident. Soothingly, she stroked her hair when a cloud began to form over her. She took a deep breath. She shouldn't worry. There is probably a reasonable explanation for his late arrival. Searching, she looked around the schoolyard, but even now there was nothing to see of him. Nervously, she pressed her books to her chest and waited to see him somewhere in the crowded yard. Eventually, she got a headache and leaned her head against the wall behind her.

A loud cry caught her attention and she turned her head towards the sound. A huge crowd had formed in the middle of the schoolyard. From there came several voices that she knew only too well. "Please, I'm sorry, I didn't want to..." Bruno? Was that her brother's voice? "What ist your problem?" And... Oh no. Trevor. The thought of him made her blood freeze. She fought her way through the crowd to see Trevor lift her brother up and be ready to give him a blow.

"Hey. Let him down." All eyes were on Pepa, but she didn't care. She couldn't describe how angry she was. She clearly felt the cold and the wind around her, which almost reminded her of a hurricane. Everyone around her looked anxiously up at the sky, where a huge black thundercloud had formed, but she didn't care either. She focused only on Bruno and Trevor. How dare he beat her brother? It almost made her explode with anger.

What annoyed her most about it was that Trevor was not intimidated in the slightest by her powers and only put on a victorious grin. She clenched her hands into fists and walked towards him. The crowd had retreated frightened and kept their distance from the three.

Felíx arrived at the playground exhausted and overtired. He had been rehearsing late into the night yesterday on how to ask Pepa for a date. Unfortunately, he had completely overlooked the time, so that he had slept through almost two hours the following day.

Surprise and confusion spread in him when he found the playground almost empty and nothing could be heard. Normally it was much too loud here, but at the moment there was hardly a muck to hear. Confused, he looked around and saw the crowd. What was going on here? He fought his way through the crowd and froze when he finally made it to the front.

"Pepa?!" He watched as she approached Trevor menacingly and with clenched fists. Felíx thought he had never seen her so angry and it worried him a little. He knew how disgusting Trevor could be, but what had he done to make her that angry?

Pepa turned around in horror and froze. Oh no. Why did Felíx have to come now? Nervously, she looked up at the sky. He knew she was emotional, but she didn't think he had ever experienced her like this. She didn't want Felíx to see her that way. She wouldn't have cared about anyone else, but she definitely didn't want Felíx to think badly of her.

The realization began as soon as Felíx turned his gaze to Bruno. Of course. It had something to do with Bruno. She loved her brother and would never let him get hurt. He stood next to her and threw a smile at her to show that he was with her and would help her. She seemed to understand when she gave him a grateful smile.

Trevor was still smilling victoriously. He pushed Bruno away from himself and got ready to fight them. Pepa gave Felíx a questioning look and he nodded understandingly. She ran towards Bruno, who turned on the floor in pain. She bent down to his level and handed him half of the arepa she had previously taken from Julieta.

Bruno seemed to be doing better thanks to their sister's arepa and Pepa turned her attention back to Felíx, who was now arguing fiercely with Trevor.

"Why are you defending them? He is cursed and she is a walking weather disaster. They are not normal. Look at them." Pepa froze at Trevor's testimony. To solidify his argument, he pointed to the huge cloud that had hovered over them since the beginning of the chaos.

Pepa looked up and lowered her head regretfully. Trevor was right, but she couldn't help it. Her gift was there and she couldn't do anything about it. Felíx turned to her and met her injured gaze. She avoided eye contact with him and looked like she was close to tears. Immediately he was gripped by sheer anger at her vulnerable sight. He clenched his fists while Trevor continued to talk badly about Pepa and Bruno.

Finally, Felíx couldn't stand it anymore and attacked him. He had not been poised to this at all and the two immediately fell to the ground, where they continued to fight each other. Pepa watched in horror. She never thought that Felíx would batter him. Even less that he would batter him for her.

However, she had to admit that she was happy about it. After all, this was about Trevor. She couldn't stand the guy since the day he cheated on her. However, her joy did not last long when Trevor began to fight back. Both gave each other several blows until two teachers finally took them apart and sent them to the principal's office.

Felíx was ashamed as he sat in front of the director's office. He didn't often lose control of himself and when he did, of course, it had to happen in front of Pepa. Although he had basically batter Trevor for her, he had planned to fight this fight only verbally and not physically in the form of a brawl. Suddenly he heard the door open and as he turned his head to the sound, he couldn't believe who he saw there. He didn't think she would come to him after this chaos.

Pepa slowly let herself fall into the free seat next to him. There was a moment of silence when no one dared to say anything. "It's from my sister Julieta." She handed him the second half of the arepa, which he gratefully accepted. This arepa helped physically and made him feel better, but she did not help against his inner feelings. He blamed himself for what had happened. He wished he hadn't lost control.

"I... I'm sorry." Pepa tilted her head to the side in confusion. "What do you apologize for? I should thank you for defending me. That means a lot to me." A big smile crept onto her lips when she saw Felíx start smiling.

They had been friends for a while now and Pepa found it remarkable how happy he made her every day. She reluctantly closed him in a firm embrace to show what words cannot express. She felt Felíx reciprocate the hug and it immediately made her feel warmer inside. It could stay that way forever, but unfortunately every good moment had an end.

A voice cleared and the two immediately shot apart. "Mr. Manzáles." Felíx swallowed and hesitantly followed the man into the office. "Good luck, I'll be waiting for you here." This short sentence made Felíx feel better and the situation didn't seem so bad to him at the thought that Pepa would be waiting for him in front of the office.
