Hey guys, a new chapter is here. How did the date go and did he finally ask the big question? Read and find out.
"What are you doing here?" Pepa felt fear sweeping over her. Why did her feelings have to go crazy right now? Couldn't they do that later when she was alone again? She cleared herself a bit awkwardly and tried to find an explanation. "Um, I... I'm your B-blind date." She murmured barely audibly and fervently hoped that he would not be too disappointed. To her surprise, she saw Felíx's face brighten up.
"Wonderful. I was a bit nervous, but it's really great that you're my blind date. Also, I was a little worried that my date wouldn't come at all." Clouds began to form over Pepa again when she remembered that she had been late because she had hindered Julieta's work, so it had taken much longer.
Felíx looked alarmed when he saw the cloud forming again. This only made her feel worse, as she was the one who worried him. A sigh escaped her. She was a mess today and the worst thing was that Felíx had to watch it all. Perhaps what made matters worse was the thought of her mother.
She always said that she really needed to get her emotions under control. She could only hope that her mother would never know about it. Otherwise, Pepa would only have to listen to another lecture about why the great madrigals must be perfect, what she could renounce these days. Being a teenager was hard enough, even without the pressure of a single mother.
She turned away when tears began to roll down her cheeks. She wasn't ready to look at Felíx, she wasn't ready for him to see her vulnerability, and most importantly, she wasn't ready to face her own feelings. She felt strong arms snake around her, which immediately seemed to calm her down a bit. Exhausted, she let herself fall into his arms and took a deep breath.
"I don't mind that you're too late. For you, I would be willing to wait a lifetime." His gentle whisper immediately made Pepa's heart beat faster. She couldn't believe what she had just heard. He always managed to take her breath away. When she broke away from the hug to look him in the eye, she saw nothing but the truth, which may have made her heart beat even faster, if that was still possible at all.
"Come on. Sit down." He took her hand and led her to her table, where the two sat down contentedly on the two chairs. "I spent all day wondering who it would be." Pepa explained when the two had placed their order and were waiting for their food. "I never thought it would be you, but I'm really happy about it."
Felíx could not suppress his broad smile. Perhaps his greatest wish would come true that evening and they would finally be more than just friends. The moment of embarrassing silence that followed this confession was interrupted by Felíx's clumsy whispering. "Pepa..." She turned her attention to him and waited for his next words. "I... ehm... wanted to tell you... something the other day... because of my wish... the... I..."
At that moment, the waiter showed up and brought them their food. Felíx sighed angrily. That could not be true now. Why did this happen again and again just before he wanted to confess his feelings? It was like a curse that prevented him from being honest with her. He took a deep breath, put on his best smile and thanked the waiter, although he was a little upset that her moment was ruined.
"Have you ever been to this place?" Asked Felíx, hoping to get rid of the unpleasant silence and start a new conversation. "No." Pepa shook her head as she swallowed her bite to better answer him. "I really love my sister's kitchen and since she also likes to cook, the family doesn't often go out to eat."
According to her answer, Felíx would have preferred to beat himself mentally. How could he forget that her sister Julieta cooked for the family every day? Luckily, it didn't seem to bother Pepa when she resumed the conversation between them and broke the silence. "What kind of food do you like?" A smile crept onto his lips. He always knew an answer to this question, even without thinking twice. "My grandma used to cook very traditionally. So I would say I love typical Colombian dishes whose recipes have been around for ages, but I'm always open to something new."
A cheerful laugh filled the silence as he remembered what else he liked to eat. "And all kinds of sweets. There is this really good candy shop nearby. It is my absolute favorite. They make all kinds of sweets and they all taste delicious."
She really found his enthusiasm for sweets incredibly endearing, so Pepa couldn't suppress a smile. She even caught herself staring at him, even though she was supposed to focus on her food in front of her. But how could she? He was incredible and seeing him so happy made her feel just as happy when a comforting warmth spread in her.
Not that she didn't already know it, but she had to admit that she had really fallen in love with him. She was even sure that it was more than just a little crush, not as she initially thought. She knew that her feelings were strong from the beginning, but she never thought that her feelings would continue to grow every day. Now she sat opposite him and felt completely hopelessly in love. She didn't even notice that he had stopped talking. "Pepa?"
Immediately she awoke from her thoughts and felt a slight glimmer of red creeping up her cheeks. "Sorry... I was a bit lost in thought." The fact that he had caught her thinking about him was incredibly embarrassing and uncomfortable for her, but it was nothing compared to his next question, which hit her unprepared.
"Oh, what were you thinking about?" He asked in a completely innocent way and despite that she felt her cheeks get even warmer. She probably looked like a tomato, but she wouldn't tell him what she had been thinking about a few moments ago. That would be even more embarrassing. In his presence, she would become extremely nervous and behave like an idiot.
Before he could tell she was nervous, she tried to change the subject. "What did you say before?" This question earned her a hearty laugh, even though she didn't even know exactly why he was laughing. On her questioning gaze, his laughter slowly faded away and turned into a happy smile. "I had told you about my favorite candy shop. I said that you absolutely had to try something from them and then I remember something."
He reached into a bag next to him and pulled out a heart-shaped box. "You brought me chocolate?" Pepa couldn't believe what she saw. This showed once again his charming and friendly personality, with whom she had fallen in love. She was really impressed by his efforts. "That's so cute of you." As much as she tried not to appear too excited, she failed miserably. You could even see the hints of a rainbow appearing above her head. She just hoped that Felíx wouldn't notice. That would have been quite embarrassing.
Fortunately, at that moment, the waiter showed up to take her now empty plates back with him. She was extremely grateful for that. Her moment was ruined, but luckily the rainbow was almost gone and he would never see it. "May I offer you a dessert?" As a result, Felíx made a dismissive gesture. "No, thank you. We would like to pay." Felíx kindly took over the speech, for which she was extremely grateful. So she had more time to bring her feelings back under control. She just hoped that he hadn't noticed the rainbow yet. She would have been really embarrassed to have to explain why she was so happy that even a rainbow could be seen.
A short time later, the waiter came with the bill and they paid for their food. "Goodbye and thank you for visiting our restaurant. If you would still allow me the comment, you both make a pretty good couple. Enjoy the rest of the evening." The waiter left their table, leaving the two in an awkward silence.
Before the silence could become even more tense, Felíx got the perfect idea to finally ask Pepa the big question. The waiter's last remark gave him an idea that was almost perfect.
Who says that tonight was already over?
