Things were a bit tense between Bonnibel and Marceline for the next few weeks. Whether it was talking about moving Marceline's things into Bonnibel's apartment, or talking about Flare whenever she was around, there was quite a bit of bickering between the couple. Yes, they always made up afterwards. The arguments usually ended with Marceline charming Bonnibel into moving on – at least for a little while – and soon followed by the two stripping each other from their clothing and spending the next few hours doing… well, stuff. It should be quite obvious, the couple were maniacs. Between the two of them, they learned many things about each other, sexually or not.
Marceline discovered every little kink of Bonnibel's, usually using it to her advantage when the time was right. She also figured out that Bonnibel did indeed doing it everywhere well, besides the bed. Who knew that little nerd would end up being a freak in the sheets. Metaphorically speaking of course, because sheets weren't involved very often. Mainly counter tops and – Never mind, that isn't important.
Now the couple were waiting together at the airport to pick up Rain, Bonnibel's friend from Korea. She was making a surprise visit for Jake, who would not know until tomorrow at his surprise party. They had been waiting for about an hour now, due to the flight being delayed. Bonnibel was pacing back and forth in front of Marceline, biting her finger nails – yes she realized this was a bad habit to have picked up, but damn it she has been very stressed lately. Marceline however, was sitting on the tile flooring with her legs sprawled out and her back against a concrete pole. Her eyes followed Bonnibel as she kept walking back and forth in front of her. She'd been doing this for about fifteen minutes now, and it got quite irritating. You see, just as they arrived to the airport, they had gotten into another lovers quarrel, only to find out that the flight would be delayed another hour. There was an awkward silence between them, the air was tense. Anyone who walked by could tell.
"Bonnie, would you quit pacing? The flight board said her plane landed a few minutes ago, I'm sure she'll be walking out here any moment now." Marceline sighed, leaning her head against the concrete. Bonnibel had stopped her movements, only to stare at Marceline with a stern look.
"How about you not tell me what to do?" She snapped.
"Bonnie, I'm sorry you're still mad about earlier but,"
"No." Bonnibel interrupted. "I can't believe you're still taking her side on this."
"I'm not 'taking sides' Bonnibel." Marceline scrunched her index and middle fingers with her spoken words. "I told you a hundred times already. She does not have a thing for me. Haven't you seen her with Finn while we were planning this stupid party? She's practically head over heels for the boy."
"Obviously you're not seeing what I'm seeing. All I'm saying is you're,"
"Ahem." A voice interrupted Bonnibel from finishing her argument. She quickly turned her body around to be met with her very tall friend. Her smile once again returned, practically jumping out of her shoes to hug the woman. Marceline stayed sitting on the uncomfortable airport floor, only sighing in relief that Bonnibel didn't get to finish speaking.
The ride back to Bonnibel's apartment was a bit awkward for all three of them. Rain could tell there was tension between the two, and as much as she wanted to butt in she decided against it. She realized the two needed to figure out whatever was going on between themselves.
When they arrived, Marceline went straight to the room to change. She really needed to get into some comfortable clothes. Bonnibel dropped herself into the couch, letting out a soft groan of annoyance. Rain soon followed her, minus the groan. She bumped her shoulder with the pink girls, trying to get her attention.
"Hey," She began. "Everything alright between you two?" Bonnibel just shook her head and sighed. "Come on, what's going on?"
"I just…" Bonnibel straightened up her posture. "We've been arguing a lot lately. It's not… it's not good. I'm starting to worry."
"Well, whatever the two of you are arguing about, have you talked about it? Do you ever come to an end, or does the conversation just stop right away without any closure?" There it was, the butting in. Rain really needed to learn how to control that, but she couldn't stand to see her friend this upset. Bonnibel appreciated it sort of, she hadn't had anyone to talk to about it, well besides Marceline, but sometimes she was being too stubborn to listen.
"There has been no closure. I mean, I guess we are both stressed out with moving in together but, I don't know. She refuses to see my side of the argument, she's so stubborn." Another sigh.
"Maybe you two just need to sit and talk about it, without getting angry at each other."
"That's impossible to accomplish with her." Bonnibel massaged her temples with her index fingers as if she had a headache.
"I say go talk to her. If one of you can at least stay calm I'm sure you can get through it." Rain pulled her friend into a hug, rubbing the length of her back. Bonnibel nodded. She didn't really agree with what Rain was telling her, but it wouldn't hurt to try. She stood up and disappeared into the bedroom with two brown eyes staring her down. She knocked lightly on the door before she entered, walking in on a shirtless Marceline. She didn't acknowledge Bonnibel's presence, keeping her back towards the girl.
"Hey," Bonnibel began. "Can't we talk?"
"Haven't we done enough talking?" Marceline snapped, pulling down a baggy shirt over her head and down her torso.
"No, I mean actually talk." No response. "We need to talk about what has been going on between us." Bonnibel sighed. She felt herself getting irritated, but kept the emotion pushed down for the time being. Thankfully Marceline turned around to face Bonnibel with those piercing green eyes. Bonnibel got the nerve to step closer to her girlfriend, who thankfully stood still. It was silent. Neither of them spoke to each other, just awkward staring.
"I don't want to talk." Marceline admitted. Her face showed no emotion and frankly that really annoyed Bonnibel because she needed to know what her girlfriend was feeling. She bit down the urge to show her anger with clenched fists. Before Bonnibel had the chance to even think what to say, Marceline took another step closer, and another, and another. They two were now centimeters from each other, Marceline still with a poker face. Bonnibel looked Marceline over and over, still unable to sense what she was thinking. The only thing was were piercing green eyes just staring at her blue ones.
"Marceline, we can't just keep arguing about this. Things are just going to get worse and worse if we don't just talk and get through it." Marceline shifted a bit closer, so close that Bonnibel could feel her hot breath brush against her skin. She caught herself glancing down at Marceline's lips, and she knew Marceline noticed it by that stupid grin she always had. You know, the grin that made Bonnibel's heart melt each and every time she saw it.
Bonnibel didn't want to do much talking now, and Marceline knew that because when she leaned down to kiss her girlfriend, she kissed her right back, with even more force than Marceline had anticipated from her.
And that is how each fight always ends. They didn't accomplish any talking, they never do. But they are always okay with each other for a little while afterwards, so it's okay, right?

"Come on Marceline, we are going to be late!" Bonnibel called out from her living room. The three girls were getting ready to leave for Jakes surprise birthday party. The plan was that Finn would take Jake out for his birthday, but get called back home for some odd reason and boom, everyone would pop put and shout surprise. Pretty basic, but there was nothing wrong with that. Bonnibel, Marceline, and Rain were in charge of getting there early to set up some decorations and order pizza. The only problem was, Marceline was taking too long to get ready.
"Did Finn give you the house key?" Rain asked, taking a seat on the couch.
"Indeed he did, I've got it in my pocket right now." Bonnibel reached in her pocket and pulled out the house key in question. "Marceline!" She called out once again."
"I'm coming I'm coming." Marceline walked through the hallway, coming into the living room. "See, all ready. Let's go." She kissed her girlfriends temple and walked through the front door of the apartment, Rain and Bonnibel soon to follow.
On the way to Finn and Jakes house the trio had to stop by a few stores to pick up some supplies they needed. They picked up the usual, balloons, streamers, cake, cookies, and a bunch of other snack foods along with party hats – Jake loves party hats. Since Jake was turning twenty one today, they also had Marceline pop into the liquor store and pick up a couple cases of beer and a bottle of vodka while Rain and Bonnibel picked out some red solo cups and ping pong balls. According to Marceline, you must play beer pong on your twenty first birthday.
When they finally arrived to their friend's house, they got to work right away with setting everything up. While Marceline set up the beer pong table, Rain and Bonnibel hung up streamers and tied down the balloons, which were now filled with helium.
"You know," Bonnibel thought. "Since I'm driving us home tonight,"
"Oh no no no." Marceline interrupted. "You're not going to be the DD, nobody is. Finn said we could stay for the night to avoid that."
"Marce, you know I'm not much of a drinker. I don't mind, really." Bonnibel placed her hands on the countertop in the kitchen, lifting herself up onto the surface. She stole one of the sugar cookies out of the plastic container and bit into it.
"You'll be around a bunch of intoxicated idiots, Bon. You sure?" Marceline joined her girlfriend in the kitchen, placing her hands on either side of the girl sitting on the counter.
"I'm sure." Bonnibel smiled, biting another piece off of her cookie. Marceline leaned in to kiss the girls cheek, but decided to sneak a bite of the cookie she was holding. Bonnibel pretended to be offended then continued to pout at her thieving girlfriend. "Go get the alcohol out of the car and put it in the fridge, you thief."
"Fine, but this thief is gonna steal one last time before I sail the road of redemption." Marceline smirked at her girlfriend.
"Oh, yeah? And what would that be?" Bonnibel lowered her voice to a whisper.
"A kiss from the pretty pink princess." Marceline leaned in and kissed her girlfriend deeply. She rested her palm on Bonnie's jawline as she kissed her. Bonnibel wrapped her arms around the rockers neck, pulling her in closer as she slid her tongue on the outside of the girls bottom lip.
"Keep it PG you two!" Rain called out from the living room, who had mistakenly looked over to see the couple. The two quickly split apart, forgetting that there was another body present in the room.
"Sorry Rain!" Bonnibel now feeling embarrassed, shooed her girlfriend away to retrieve the drinks from the car. As soon as Marceline left the house, Rain joined her friend in the kitchen, who was still planted on the countertop blushing like crazy.
"So you two made up? I told you talking would work out." Rain crossed her arms, having that look of 'I told you so".
"Uh." Bonnibel faked coughed into her arm. "Yeah, sure. Talking worked, thank you." She lied.
"You didn't talk to her, did you?" Rain lowered her eyebrows at her friend, keeping her arms crossed.
"I tried! I mean, I did try. It just, uh, didn't really work out." Bonnibel was feeling even more embarrassed. Yes, her and Marceline did it a lot, but she felt weird to talk about it to anyone besides her girlfriend. Even with her best friend she just felt awkward.
"Well if you two didn't work it out by talking, what did you do? You both seem fine with each other today." No response. Bonnibel just kept quiet as she looked around the room, everywhere but Rain. She wanted to avoid eye contact. She failed, of course. Eventually she looked at her friend and as soon as she did a lightbulb went off in Rain's head. She could tell by the look in her eyes. "Oh my god." Rain covered her eyes as she shook her head.
"You all right, Rain? You look like you've just seen a ghost." Marceline walked into the kitchen, opening up the fridge to place the case of beer inside. Rain turned around and scowled at Marceline. "Whoa, did I say something wrong?" Marceline raised her hands in defense. Rain looked back at her friend sitting on the counter, nudging her head in the direction of Marceline before walking out of the kitchen.
Bonnibel sighed as she slid off the countertop and planted her feet back on the tile flooring. She stood on her tip toes to kiss Marceline's cheek before leaving the kitchen, leaving Marceline alone and rather confused on what just happened.
Not soon after there is a knock on the door. The three girls stop in their tracks, looking about one another. They realized it could not be Finn or Jake, they live here so they wouldn't knock on their own front door. Bonnibel nudged her head at Marceline, telling her to answer the door. She let out a small groan, not wanting to be the one to have to answer it.
When she turned the knob and pulled the door in, she was met with the one and only Flare. She smiled wide at her friend who was standing there with a small bag in her hand, presumably a present for Jake.
"Hey! I didn't think you were coming, come on in." Marceline moved out of the way to let the red head in.
"I wasn't going to at first but… Finn insisted." Flare turned around to face her friend, lifting up the bag in her hand. "Where should I set this?"
"Is that a present for Jake? Go ahead and set it over there on the coffee table." Marceline's eyes met with Bonnibel's. She did not look happy. She mouthed off to Marceline the words 'What the hell is she doing here?' to Marceline, who only ignored her and walked back over to Flare. "So uh Flare, this is Rain. She's a friend of Bonnibel's, who also happens to be in a relationship with Jake."
"Flare? What a pretty name! Nice to meet you." Rain smiled at the redhead, giving out her hand to shake.
"Oh uh, thank you but Flare isn't really my name. I mean it is, but it's only a nickname."
"Wait, it isn't your name? Why do people call you Flare?" Marceline cut in, surprised.
"People started calling me Flare in grade school because of how red my hair was. It just sort of uh… stuck with me, I guess. My actual name is Phoebe, but nobody has called me that in years."
"I'm still gonna call you Flare, if that's alright with you." Marceline smiled.
"Oh, please. I'd prefer it, actually."
"I'd hate to interrupt your wonderful conversation, but Finn texted me saying they were pulling in the driveway now." Bonnibel cut in, giving Marceline an irritated look. They all scurried away into a random hiding spot just as Bonnibel shut off the lights. Rain, Marceline and Flare had been hidden behind the couch while she panicked and hid behind the window curtain, which conveniently dropped down to the floor.
"All I'm saying dude, is that those were the best bacon pancakes I have ever had." Jake came walking through the front door, completely oblivious to the decorated interior of his home.
"Yeah, I can't believe you made them put the bacon inside your pancakes. That was genius. I can't believe they actually did it!" Finn smiled at his brother before flipping on the lights. That was the planned queue of course, so everyone jumped out of their hiding places and shouted surprise simultaneously.
"Holy fuck." Jake jumped back, startled. His fight or flight set in and of course, he hid behind Finn before realizing what was going on. Finn of course couldn't help but burst out in laughter over his brother's response.
"Oh man, we should have recorded that!" Finn laughed, moving out of the way of Jake.
"No, you shouldn't have, jerk." Jake pouted. He looked around the room to see everyone standing around and smiling at him. "Thank you guys though. I have to admit, you got me." He smiled back at everyone.
"No problem, pal." Marceline walked up to Jake and swung her arm around his shoulder. "Now let's get this party started. Beer is in the fridge, Vodka is in the freezer. Take your pick."
It only took about an hour for everyone, omitting Bonnibel of course, to get drunk enough to start doing dumb things. Right now they were having what Marceline liked to call "Beer Pong Championships". By Marceline's rules, it was like any other sport. Hell, this was almost like a sport for her.
First up was Marceline against Finn, which of course Finn was at an unfair advantage because, well, Marceline was the champ. It really was no surprise that she won by a landslide. Bonnibel of course was by her side the entire time, cheering her on.
Next up was Rain and Flare. Everyone was a bit surprised at how matched they were. When they were both down to their final cups, everyone crowded the table and watch in suspense as each throw of the ball was a miss. It was in that final moment when Flare threw her ping pong ball when everything went in slow motion. Of course for dramatic effect. The plastic sphere fell right into the red cup, forcing Rain to guzzle it down.
"Nothin' but net! Or should I say cup?" Flare jumped up in excitement, throwing her hands up in the air. She about fell over as she did so, but quickly caught herself and laughed at herself for almost falling.
And then there was Jake and Marceline. The two of them reset the table with their cups, filling them with the alcohol. Everyone was crowding still, watching the two throw the balls inside each other cups, sometimes a certain someone – Marceline – would 'accidently' hit Jake in the face with a ball. She was a bit too confident at playing this game, so most of the time she would mess around and purposely miss or mess with Jake in any way she could.
She still won.
There was only two left now, Marceline, and Flare.
"Oh you're going down, Flame Princess." Marceline cracked her knuckles before resetting the table. That name about stung Bonnibel like a wasp. Only Marceline called her princess, and she wanted to keep it that way.
"Flame Princess?" Flare raised an eyebrow, confused at the nickname she was just called. Marceline just smirked at the red head, gesturing her hand out towards the cups.
"Ladies first." When the two girls played, they never missed a shot. Which in fact was impressive considering they both were quite intoxicated. When it came down to the final cups, Marceline started to get a bit nervous. If Flare made the final shot she would lose, and in matter of fact she did. Flare made that final cup with no problem, forcing Marceline to chug it down.
Marceline was damned impressed though, nobody has ever gotten the best of her at beer pong. Bonnibel, however, was not. She didn't like that smirk slapped across the red heads face, and she didn't like how Marceline was smiling right back at her and laughing. No, she wasn't going to let this happen. She stepped in front of Marceline, facing Flare from across the table. She glared at the girl from her position as everything fell silent.
"Me and you, let's go."
"Oh you are so on, Miss priss."
