Garmadon groaned at seeing his brother in his way again. "Honestly Wu, you're such a butt! You know I only want to meet my kid!" If this stupid city would just let him in to see his kid he wouldn't have to resort to this. They were all butts.

"You don't have to conquer the city, brother."

"Yeah, yeah. I know you're looking for him. Look, I appreciate the effort, Wu, but it's been 9 years. And that's only since we found out he exists, who knows how old he really is? And after all this time the only thing you've managed to dig up is some measly rumors about his name! I'm tired of waiting!"

"Have patience, brother," typical Wu. "It has only taken this long because of your constant attacks." He says that every- wait, was that past tense?! Garmadon gasped in delight.

"Are you saying you found him?!" Excitement flooded through Garmadon's veins as his brother nodded. "What's he like? How old is he? Is his name really Lloyd? Has my ex been feeding him enough?" The most important question of all: "When can I meet him?"

His brother held up his hands. "I only just met him, and it will take time to get your answers..." Wu raised an eyebrow expectantly.

"Alright! I'm leaving ya big butt! But I'm expecting frequent updates!" He paused, his mech half turned around, and glanced hopefully towards his brother. "Is his name real-"

"Yes, his name is Lloyd."

Not even the slightest bit satisfied, Garmadon turned back to his volcano and called for his army to retreat.

Lloyd. Garmadon thought. What a wonderful name for the best kid in the entire city.

*The perspective of a young boy in school*

"Lloyd has gotta be the worst kid in this entire city!"

"He's just like his dad!"

"Keep that demon-spawn away from me!"

Lloyd blocked out the words as best he could as he raced to the tree, clutching his hood in an attempt to hide his face. Upon reaching the base he lept to scramble onto the lowest branch. He grabbed on, but was forced to let go as pain seared through his body. A minuscule whimper escaped his lips as he landed hard on his back.

"Hey, Garmadork!" Chen, of course it was Chen. There were 5 others accompanying him: Brad, Gene, Diane, Ava, and Kai. It was strange to see the complete school squad, and Lloyd couldn't help but wonder what the occasion was.

"Happy birthday, ready for your presents?" Right, the third worst time of the year, right behind the anniversary of the Garmadon attacks. At least it wasn't vacation time, those times won by a landslide.

Rough hands dragged him to his feet, grabbing his arm right on the bandage and causing him to hiss in pain. None of the adults batted an eye as he was dragged around the school building.

"You excited, Garmadork? We've got 10 very special treats for you, most of which were planned by Gene and Ava."

Great. He thought sarcastically. Both unconventional and incredibly painful, just like vacations. Maybe this day would make it to second worst this year.

*After school, changing to the perspective of a concerned uncle*

Wu waited outside the elementary school, somewhere in his busy morning he'd managed to find time to find Lloyd's birthday - today. His 10th to be exact. Evidently his brother had planned gifts for each of his son's birthdays since he found out Lloyd existed, and he insisted Wu deliver the tenth one today. He was more than happy to deliver the small package... if he could even find the kid in the swarm of children flooding from the school.

A group of kids walked by, talking in snooty, almost braggy voices. "You should've seen that demon-spawn's face when we finally handed him off to those high-schoolers! It took him a moment to see them but when he did - oh, I wish I could have been there when they beat him up, I bet they would have tons of pointers for us!" Wu couldn't help but worry they were talking about Lloyd.

A whole half hour after the school had let out, Lloyd crept cautiously out of the building. He froze when his eyes landed on Wu. Beneath the hood Wu could barely make out the twin black eyes, numerous bruises, split lip, several nicks and small cuts, and one long, thin cut running along his cheek. And that was only what was visible. Wu took a small step towards him.

Lloyd took two steps back.

Carefully, Wu raised his hands so Lloyd could see them and took a few steps back. When Lloyd started to relax a bit he started talking. "Greetings, Lloyd. Remember me? Your uncle?"

Recognition flashed across Lloyd's face and he nodded ever so slightly. Still, he remained tense.

"Would you like some ice cream?" Wu watched the boy's brows furrow, as if he was looking for some kind of underlying meaning. Eventually his eyes widened slightly and he nodded. "I know a great place, nephew. It is not very popular, but it has some of the creamiest and most flavorful cones I've ever had. I'm sure you'll like it." Kneeling down to try and meet Lloyd's eye level, Wu reached out a hand.

Much to his relief, Lloyd walked forward. He didn't take the extended hand, but with all the hate he'd found he couldn't blame Lloyd for being so cautious.

A/N: And so, Lloyd slowly begins to trust his uncle. I'm sure this won't end up in heartfelt bonding moments, or Lloyd eventually making friends, or anything positive in the boy's life. No, I'm sure it will bring him pain and suffering, I'd bet it'll even get him kidnapped!
