That feel when an episode does not work with your planned plot. In other words, this is now an AU as of season 2, episode 8.

Hunter wondered how he got in this situation. Where had he gone wrong? Oh right, letting the human escape with the Palismen, that was definitely where his problems began.

"Move." The Blight girl said, prodding him with her staff.

"Okay, okay." He said. "You're just as pushy as your girlfriend."

That got a reaction as the girl began blushing and fanning herself. Unfortunately, she also began leaking her scent everywhere. "What? She's not my… wait, no, she is. My girlfriend. I'm Luz's girlfriend. Yeah."

Hunter stared at her, wrinkling his nose. Was this what love smelled like? "Yeah, you two were made for each other."

He immediately regretted it because the pheromones only got stronger.

"Wait, how did you know?" Amity asked.

"I can smell her all over you." Hunter answered. As he was doused in a third shot of Pheromones, Hunter decided to stop talking to the girl and walked faster to put more distance between them.

"Really?" Amity asked before sniffing herself. "Why didn't anyone tell me?"

Their march was immediately interrupted by Hunter walking into a hard wooden object. He looked up. It was the owl on the end of the Owl lady's staff.

"Because no one in the Owl House has the nose to pick up scents." She said, her voice seething with suspicion.

This was not the first time Hunter had gotten that reaction out of someone and he already had the perfect excuse lined up. "Well of course I can smell it." He said, "Omegas have a great sense of smell."

Please believe it. Please believe it. Please believe it. He begged internally.

Eda looked the guy up and down. He looked a bit older than Luz. And he claimed to be an Omega. But if he wasn't…

Eda never cared much for people's statuses. Like most of the population, she was a beta. She'd heard of the situations that could arise with them, but she'd never put much thought into it. Her sister was an Alpha, but that only meant certain guys were afraid to go near her, which just gave her ammunition to make jokes. She'd suspecter Raine but had never asked.

Then a beautiful 17-year-old human Omega had moved in with her and her nightmares began to include said girl in ripped clothes, crying in a dark alley beneath a crazed lunatic giving in to his instincts. What had once been horrible things that happened to others became very real and very close.

"You know, Luz said that she met someone. A bad, but sad boy."

Hunter balked at the description.

"And now I learn something she failed to mention. That he knew her scent, which might explain the one other adjective she used. Handsome."

Hunter blinked. "She called me handsome?"

"Look," Amity said not liking the idea of Luz describing some guy as handsome, "we can figure out his status quite easily." She walked right up to Hunter.

"What?"

"If you're an Omega, my scent shouldn't bother you."

"And if I'm an Alpha, you're being crazy."

"Please," she said dismissively, "I have you restrained. I'll be fine."

Hunter glared at the witch, but he could already feel his senses going into overdrive as the Omega drowned him in her scent. He wouldn't be able to resist for very long and he did not trust his instinct riddled mind to give them a positive impression when his status was revealed.

"You're just as crazy as your girlfriend," he said taking several steps back.

"I knew it." Eda said pointing her staff right at him. Amity joined her.

"I didn't do anything to Luz." He said quickly. "In fact, I told her giving me back my staff was her being reckless."

Neither seemed to really believe him.

"If I'd done anything, do you think she would have been able to hide it from you?"

The Blight girl got in his face again and he staggered back. Her scent was doing wonders because she looked stunning to him now. He kinda wanted to hold her. "I don't know what kind of game you're playing but stay away from Luz."

"Omega girl," he said getting angry, "shouldn't you take your own advice?" At the last word, some of his own scent blasted off, reacting to hers and making them both to stagger back.

Amity flinched at the full blast of the Alpha's pheromones. She glared at him. Then she took a step back. He was glaring back at her and he looked… intimidating? And attractive.

That gave her pause. Attractive? She'd never found a guy attractive in her life. Plus, she was seeing Luz. Not him.

Yet, for some reason the annoying and possibly dangerous Golden Guard made her want to… what exactly?

"Did you just…?" She tightened the abomination bind he had on.

"Ow!" Hunter said as he fell to one knee. "You started it miss. Let-me-douse-the-Alpha-with-my-scent-and-see-what-happens."

"And so you covered me in your own?"

Hunter struggled to his feet.

Both of them glared at each other, but even Eda could see that there was something that had clouded up in both their eyes, even without smelling anything.

"Alright kids," She said. "Why don't you back away from each other?"

"Is that how you do things? Planting thoughts in the heads of girls? Making them think things they'd never think about? Is that why Luz called you handsome?"

Hunter growled now even more angry. "You think I like this?" He asked. "You think I like that one of the first thing you people thought about when you heard my status was rapist?"

And with that he'd said the r-word and everyone was dead silent.

"Since I can't be trusted around you poor Omegas, why don't you untie me, and I'll be on my way. We're wasting time talking about this."

Eda was half tempted to agree. There was no way she could let the two abrasive teens whose hormones were pushing them closer stay together. Amity was conflicted with what her biology told her to do and what she wanted, and this Hunter kid had his own issues that their suspicion was not going to help.

But they couldn't let him go.

"Amity you walk ahead," She said. "Hunter and I will hang back."

And with that, the group marched forward in relative silence, sneaking into the caves unmolested until...

Several meters ahead of them, there was an explosion and the sound of screaming.

"Don't tell me…" Hunter said right as the whole cave began to shake.

"Cave-in!" Eda yelled. "We need to get out of here."

"Kikimora." Hunter growled and began running towards the source of the explosion until he was stopped and dragged back. He looked at the bind. Then he glared at Amity.

"You'll die."

"That doesn't matter," He said. "If I can't prove myself useful, I may as well stay here. I need to get the Titan Blood."

"Hunter." Amity said.

Hunter glared at her. "Leave me if you want. But I'm going to get that Titan's blood."

Pieces of the ceiling above them began to break apart.

"Don't make me force you." Amity said. "You can't stop me. You're powerless remember."

Hunter stopped and glared at her. "Which is it? Am I powerless, or a dangerous threat?"

Amity gritted her teeth and squeezed the abomination bind. "We need to get out of here."

Hunter choked. It was getting hard to breathe and the witch was not letting go. "I need that blood," he said. He looked up at her. "I can't fail again."

Amity gasped as her senses were suddenly assaulted by the Alpha's scent and presence. His pupils had shrunk to pinpricks and his breathing got even more labored. She subconsciously squeezed the bind before her body could make any decisions she would regret.

Hunter screamed in pain. And then he felt something in his hands. Something long and wooden. With a thought, he shifted out of the binding holding him and was free, nearly collapsing as he steadied himself on with the staff. He looked at it. It was the bird.

He looked at the Owl lady, the rat thing, and the Blight girl before turning and running deeper into the mine.

Amity stared at his retreating form. She couldn't just let him die. They needed to stop him. Something needed to override his desire to please the emperor.

Hunter had barely made it a few steps before freezing, sniffing the air as he did so. What had once been an underlying scent now seemed to fill the room. He turned around.

The Blight girl. She was glaring at him even as she took several steps back. Hunter stared at her as everything faded away. She looked so beautiful, and small. And as she began retreating from him, he growled. He couldn't let her get away. He needed to make her his.

He gasped at a sudden pain in his teeth as he felt his canines extend noticeably. The Omega seemed to also notice, but instead of approaching and presenting herself, she turned and ran. The Alpha growled. She had been teasing him since they met, releasing her scent on him, and challenging him. But she was so abrasive and clearly more interested in the human. But now she did this? Was she playing hard to get? He tightened his grip on his staff and lunged forward.

If she wanted to be hunted down, he would hunt her down.

A sudden assault of light on his senses made Hunter stop and look up. Sunlight? When had they gotten outside? The side of his head was stinging.

Moaning beneath him caught his attention and he looked down. He was straddling the Blight girl, her coat ripped up with several bruises and cuts forming on the visible parts of her body. His free hand was in the process of tearing her shirt off her body and her hands were beneath his knees. She was staring up at him, tears gleaming in her eyes, silently begging him to stop.

Hunter stared at her for a second before he quickly scrambled off her, right in time to avoid getting his head kicked off by a giant harpy.

"Get off her!" The Owl lady, now a lot more owl than lady, said. Then she blinked as she realized that the Alpha had already done so.

Hunter stared at Amity as she struggled to get up. He looked around. There was a trail of destruction around them. Downed trees. Trenches cut into the ground. Purple fire scattered in the snow. He looked back at the Blight girl even as his staff slipped from his hand and he fell to his knees.

"I lost control." He brought his hand to his face before he flinched from the pain. He looked at his glove. There was blood on it.

Amity stood up, struggling to breathe. Then she looked at the Alpha she'd gained a new fear of very recently. And then she realized that she also felt guilt. "No," she said. "I made you lose control. I unleashed my scent at full blast. I've been using it on you since we met."

"But… you did that to save me." Hunter stared at her. She was so enrapturing. He couldn't take his eyes off her alabaster skin.

"Hunter!" Amity yelled.

Hunter blinked before realizing he was reaching for her. He quickly shrunk back. "What am I doing?"

Before Amity could answer, Hunter grabbed his staff and flew off, shifting into energy as he did so.

Amity stared up at him before her legs finally gave out.

Eda landed next to the Omega who was clearly having trouble breathing. "I'm impressed you could fight him for so long. I would have surely thought his scent would have the same effect on you that you did on him."

"I guess being gay kind of softened that up." Amity said. "Alpha males have never affected me that much. I think that made me underestimate the effect I was having on him. Inherently, I don't find him that attractive…"

"But…" Eda prodded.

Amity shifted awkwardly, blushing. "But if he hadn't snapped out of it right then. I don't think I could have resisted any longer. I wasn't fighting as hard as I could have."

Eda sighed. "I guess he's not that bad."

"This will make one hell of a story for Luz." Amity said.

Belos sighed at the report from Kikimora. The Titan's blood was gone and on top of that, her mining operation had resulted in a cave in leading to several injuries.

"Lord Belos…"

"Silence." He told the demon before turning to look at Hunter who was standing beside his throne. The Golden Guard had been explicitly instructed to stay in the castle, but despite what he suspected were a half a dozen showers, Belos could still smell two distinct smells on him that would not have been there had he stayed. One was an Omega's scent, and the other was his own scent as an Alpha. But there was something different, wilder to it. The Omega scent appeared to have triggered a rutting rage in him. And yet, it seemed he'd snapped out of it. He didn't smell like sex. And he didn't act as emotionally compromised as Belos expected him to be afterwards.

Had the Omega escaped? Or even more unlikely, had Hunter stopped himself?

"Lord Belos?" Hunter asked, realizing his uncle's attention was now on him.

"I think you're ready." Belos said.

"What?" Hunter asked.

"I have a task for you Hunter," He said. "And I expect you to succeed this time."

Hunter smiled behind his mask and nodded obediently. This was his chance to redeem himself in his Uncle's eyes. Whatever the task, he was ready to do as needed.
