Chapter 1: Where It All Begins...
Beep. Beep.
Beep. Beep
A firm hand lazily reached out to his phone turn off the alarm that was vibrating irritating rings to his ears. Lucas Morningstar rolled over on his back and loudly yawned while he stretched his white, naked arms out wide over his wide. Slowly, breaking the sleep dust that was glued between his eyelashes by opening up his eyelids and getting a clear view of his dark bedroom. The dark blue wallpaper over the entire room with dark turquoise curtains in front of the widows, and on the other side of his bed were the white shelves that held up his photo frames and a few sports trophies.
"Honey, breakfast!" his mum's voice yelled through the closed bedroom door after hearing a few gentle knocks on the door.
"Coming!" he called back right before Lucas released another massive yawn.
Slowly raised himself up till Lucas swings his legs over the edge of the bed and sat on the side. His hands gently rubbed his entire face before Lucas stood up and walked over to his draws. Lucas pulls out a white shirt to wear along with a black jacket to cover over and a pair of dark, blue jeans. Then Lucas hangs a chain, unisex star circle pentagram pendant necklace around his neck. After tucking his feet through a pair of white socks, Lucas stands against a big, rectangular wall mirror with a small comb to straighten in his waves in his black hair.
Lucas walks out from his bedroom all dressed and ready, he strolled into the bright kitchen. A long, single island with pure, marble skin and a glass jug of rainbow flowers settled in the centre, golden chandeliers hanging from the white ceiling. Clear windows surrounded the kitchen room where you view the city of Los Angeles from a high angle. Except for the middle part of the room where there was a rectangle shape wall that splits into threes; the left side is where the oven is, the middle is the hob and the sink, and the right is where the fringe is and the freezer below.
Chloe Jane Decker was standing by the hob, wearing a black floral shirt with a pair of black jeans and her blonde hair tied in a tony-tail. She was grizzling some bread on the frying pan, holding onto the black spatula by her right hand that has a silver wedding band in her ring finger including Lilith's rings that Lucifer placed on after he restored Chloe's soul from Heaven. Chloe lifted her head and smiled at her son's arrival as Lucas reflected the same reaction, "Morning mum."
"Good morning sweetie" Chloe turned her head to the side as she and Lucas kissed their side cheeks before pulling away, "Good sleep?"
"Yeah. It was fine" his answer blended with a small yawn, before I shortly scanned around his surroundings, "Where's dad?"
"He's getting change. Got everything ready for school?" Chloe asked while flipping the grilled bread. Watching cheese melting in between the toasted bread while the friend egg was sizzling beneath the toast.
"Yep" Lucas reached to the freeze and took out a paper carton bottle of orange juice.
"Your lunch money?"
"Yeah" grabbed a small glass for Lucas to pour the orange juice in.
"Homework?"
"Yeah."
"Your-"
"Mum!" Lucas interrupts with his hands out in front before Chloe could add another check-out question, he friendly smiled, "I've got everything. Don't worry. You've got a lot on your plate anyway with all everything at the precinct."
"That's the curse of being a mum. I'm always worried about my babies" Chloe replied.
Lucas grinned thinking of how his mum can be protective sometimes, but he knew that she was right because that's a habit of mothers; they're always worried about their children. The grilled cheese sandwich was finally finished as Chloe served it on a white plate and passed it over to Lucas
"Oh, you've got that beach party on tonight" Chloe mentioned, right before Lucas gave at his mum a 'seriously' stare. His mum raised her innocent hands and excused, "I'm sorry. Can't help it."
After the roll of his eyes, Lucas took his first bite on his sandwich and deeply hummed and with his eyes closed as he was enjoying the delicious, melting taste in his mouth. "Yeah, so I'll definitely be late tonight."
"Don't do anything stupid tonight" Chloe added, her tone changed to a pitch of motherly seriousness.
"I know. I know. Don't drive after drinking. And don't mix with your alcohol" Lucas nodded side-to-side while mentioning all the tiny advises his mum has told him over the years. However, he was also taught by his dad and his cool Auntie Maze about having fun that involves drinking and how celestials don't get affected so easily with alcohol like humans. Lucas added. "However, that point is for people. And most people are humans. But, I'm half angel."
"Yes, but half-human as well. So, don't be cocky?" Chloe warned as she pointed with the fry flipper in her hand and Lucas raised his hands up showing his innocence.
"Who's getting cocky?" another voice appeared behind them, and it was none other than the Devil himself.
Lucifer Morningstar walks in with her three-piece suit; a white shirt with a black jacket over it and a red handkerchief neatly tucked in the left side pocket of the suit. He looks the same as usual; black hair combed, his stubble beard perfectly fitted below his lips to the edge of his face. Lucifer was the old Devil; the guy who works with the LAPD as a consultant, at the same time he's a healer to those damned souls in Hell who deserves redemption from their own tortuous guilt, like Daniel Espinosa. Happiness bloomed in Lucifer's dark eyes when he sees his gorgeous wife and son here.
"Who do you think?" Chloe darted her stare to Lucas, yet their son reacted with an innocent and clueless face.
"Ah… probably got from me" Lucifer proudly grinned from ear to ear, happy to see that Lucas son has inherited his cunningness.
Walking over to his son as Lucifer wrapped his arm over Lucas' shoulder and gently rubbed the sides, Lucas grinned, "Morning dad."
Lucifer leans into where Chloe was standing and grabs one of those tasty grilled cheese sandwiches. He eloquently faces back to his son, "Ready for tonight?"
"Oh yeah" Lucas chewed his half-eaten sandwich.
"Spending the night with a lady or ladies?" Lucifer teased which made Lucas huffed.
"Lucifer!" Chloe hissed as she mildly slapped his muscular arm.
"What? He's young, let him enjoy his time. You trust" Lucifer reasoned his argument, it was quite amusing for Lucas to watch how his dad annoys his mum and she always rolls her eyes yet it's all funny and sweet at the same time.
"I do" Chloe add, before then of course her mother instinct kicks back in, "Don't get anyone pregnant."
"Mum!" Lucas squawked in a half-embarrassed tone.
Lucas was holding a last, large piece of his grilled cheese sandwich to which Chloe took his plate away, before he faces his father, "Hey dad, can I use one of your drinks upstairs to see how many shots I can handle?"
"Oh, Lucas, of course."
"Lucifer!" Chloe growled in a vexed tone, irritated at how Lucifer easily lets his son do things without considering setting out some rules or warning of some risks.
"I'm joking, honey" he retreats, not wanting anger and irritates his wife. Chloe gratefully nodded and turned around to handwash the plate in the hot water filled up sink. Behind her back, in a flash, Lucifer leans down and whispered, "Make sure your Auntie Maze or Eve are with you while I distract your mother."
Lucifer winked down at his son making Lucas beam at how quick-witted yet at the same time, supportive his dad can be. Like most father and son's relationships, Lucas admires his dad as being a good role model in his life and is grateful for being a good father compare to how Lucifer never actually had a father figure in his life. Lucifer has taught Lucas the fun things to do in his life which includes parties, dating, and the big talk about sex, but all together Lucas has educated his son on the responsibilities behind his actions.
Glancing down at his watch, Lucas recognised that its' time for him to head off, "Right, I'm off, see you guys later."
"Enjoy tonight" Lucifer firmly rubbed the top side of Lucas' shoulder with his arm around his son's neck.
"Thanks, dad" Lucas nodded before Chloe comes in and gave him one last kiss on the cheek then Lucas walks off, "Love you guys!"
Watching her son leaving the room, Chloe was pleased as always to see her teenage son was having a steady and a half ordinary life. During Lucas's childhood, she feared most of the time that Lucas would feel lost or hurt knowing that he isn't like the other human child. Feeling scared and completely anxious about how to protect her half-angel son from criticism and danger from those who really know who Lucas is, the son of the Devil. However, with her devilish husband by her side, they both have raised their son in the best way any parent can.
She felt a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist and felt Lucifer's head touching next to the side of hers. She quietly sighed, "He's certainly your son."
"I know" Lucifer reflected the same smile his wife has on, both thinking that Lucas has grown with most resemblances from his father, except he inherited his mum's ocean blue eyes. Gradually, Lucifer was drawing his lips over the crook of Chloe's neck giving her warm kisses as he seductively purred, "Now, we've got the space to ourselves. And we only one hour before work."
"Oh boy. What do you have in mind?" Chloe giggled as she tilted her head to the side giving Lucifer more space for him to snog on. He chuckled at her response before he fluidly spins her around so that she was facing him, Lucifer pressed his lips onto his wife's and Chloe accepted the hot kiss as they won't plan of letting go.
Whistle down the hallways before strolling into the elevator and standing in the centre of it, Lucas pressed the ground level button and right away the elevator starts moving down. He was on the second top floor in the luxurious building, the floor above him was his dad's original home, the penthouse. When Chloe and Lucifer realised that she was pregnant with Lucas, Chloe decided to move into Lucifer's home along with Trixie because he had much more space. And, when Chloe said they need space for baby Lucas, it shouldn't really come as a surprise when Lucifer bought the floor below. But with that space, they had a spare room for Trixie and soon Lucas to grow up in, leaving the penthouse above for Lucifer and Chloe for their personal time.
While waiting in the long journey, Lucas pops out his phone and texted his older cousin Charlie saying:
Leaving home now. Be there in about 10mins. L.
He sends the message and it wasn't before Charlie replied with an 'okay' emoji.
Lucas finally reaches down to the ground floor where he was entered in the quiet club, Lux where he waves at the morning cleaners and the bartenders. Everyone there knows him as the boss's son and Lucas respects them as hard workers. Once outside, Lucas walked into a car storage next to Lux and where inside is his red, t-roc convertible car is held. One jumped inside his car, Lucas slides a pair of sunglasses over his eyes, then twisted the car keys and felt the loud rumble from the engine vibrating through the steel skin of the red car.
Opened the storage's car gate and lead him way out to the open road ahead of him,
Lucas parked outside of the house, beeped his horn twice alerting his arrival. Soon, Charlie walks out of the front door; his black hair is portrayed in a subtle goatee hairstyle while wearing a plain, neat, dark blue shirt with a black bag hanging over his back and a pair of black jeans. His mum, Linda came out from Charlie wearing a black floral print blouse as she lets her blonde hair fall over her shoulders, and as usually a pair of glasses hanging in front of her eyes. Charlie inherited the tall genres from his father's side as she was slightly taller than his mum. He leans down and shortly hugs his mum, "Bye mum."
"Love you, sweetie" after a gentle pat on the back and a soft kiss on his son's cheek, Linda watches Charlie wander down the pathway to Lucas' car.
"Morning Auntie Linda!" Lucas waved his arm high in the air and Linda waved back at her nephew.
Charlie walked to the car and sat in the front passenger's seat, strapped his seatbelt over his muscular chest and straightaway Lucas turned on the engine. After a minute of driving, Lucas excitedly asked, "Ready for your last night of partying as a senior?"
"Sure" Charlie replied in a less cheerful tone.
"Oh, come on, you should be excited Charlie" Lucas encourage some positive vibes.
"I am. Just tired that's all" his cousin complained as Charlie rests his arm on the opened door mirror.
"Oh, had a late-night?"
"Just getting everything prepared for medical school" Charlie noted. After high school, Charlie has been applying for most of the best-med schools in the U.S.
Lucas knows that his cousins have been working extremely hard to get the grades he needs to get in, he commented, "Oh, you'll be fine, Charlie. You're like one of the best, smart-asses I know today"
"Ah. Thanks" Charlie smiley huffed as he rolled his eyes.
"Where was Uncle A?" Lucas asked since he only saw his auntie Linda at the door, usually uncle Amenadiel comes out with them to say hello.
"He had to leave early. Apparently, uncle Jophiel has caused more trouble with answering prayers and dad has to clear it up again" Charlie explained.
"Why can't Jophiel just stay with Zadkiel so at least he can learn what he's doing wrong from the angel of rightness" Lucas suggested. The guys have a lot of angel uncles and aunties up in Heaven, they all know uncle Jophiel from hearing their dad complaining about Jophiel messing about when it comes to doing a job on Earth.
Next stop, Lucas parks outside of a small, white house similar to Auntie Linda's home. A small home with reddish-brown titles over the roof. After a minute of waiting, Lucas' childhood friend, Faith who finally exited out from her bright home. Wearing an ocean-blue shirt, short sleeve top with a scoop neckline, and has white, sleeveless cardigan over it. Strolling through her green, clean porch in her grey, ripped jeans and her long, black, flat-ironed hair flying back over her shoulders by the cool wind, and her greyish-blue bag hanging over her back.
Faith jumps in the back of the car and before Lucas welcomed his new passenger, "Morning."
"Morning guys" Faith strapped her seatbelt over her chest and Lucas instantly restarts the engine.
After driving for about five minutes, Lucas gazed at Faith through the middle mirror, "Hey Faith, you're coming for the party, tonight right?"
"Ah…" she quietly growled in an uncertain tone while holding a cringy face.
"Oh, come on Faith! It'll be fun" this time, Lucas turned his head around to face her.
"Yeah, but you know I'm not a big party person" she pointed out. Lucas knows that Faith doesn't really like to drink casually as he does but it was botherless to him.
"There'll be food and drinks, and dancing. You like dancing, right?" Lucas convinced in a friendly way.
"I don't like it when people watch me though" Faith complained.
Sensed some nervousness hinted in her voice, Lucas kindly prompted, "Everyone will be there. It'll be crowded. No one will notice you"
He knew instantly he spoke the wrong choice of words as Faith facetiously replied, "Oh, thanks."
Charlie silently giggled to himself while Lucas tried to apologise, "Sorry, I didn't mean…"
"It's fine. I get it" Faith chuckled as she softly patted the side of Lucas' right shoulder as he still looked ashamed.
Thought of changing the subject, Lucas restarted, "Charlie, I need a favour. There's a nice chick who you might like actually-"
"Let me guess, she has a friend who you like and you think if impress her by getting her friend to go out with me. Then she might like you, seeing you as a cool guy then she might consider going out" Charlie ended the sentence giving his cousin with an 'obvious' stare.
"I'm like an open sex bible to everyone, aren't I?" Lucas deadpanned as he flapped his fingers on the black, car wheel.
"When you put it that way. Pretty much" Charlie nodded as he rolled his lips inside.
"So, who's the girl?" Faith joined in the conversation.
Lucas stared at the middle mirror, "You know Jennifer in our English class."
"Which one? Jennifer the joker? Or Jennifer the jumper?"
"The jumper."
"Jumper?" Charlie asked as he gave a puzzled stare to both Lucas and Faith.
"Yeah. She does trampoline" Lucas seductively grinned to himself, "And hopefully other things that include bouncing."
His bizarre words spread mortified his passengers as Charlie rolled his eyes once more as his thought 'of course' knowing that his cousin would say something erotic. Meanwhile, Faith cringed her face in a demeaning look as she gasped, "Ah… Lu!"
"What?"
"You have a strange yet interesting way of getting women" Faith commented.
"Let's just say it runs in the family" Lucas cheekily smirked and shared a glance with Charlie as they were both thinking of Lucifer and their favourite auntie Maze.
The journey wasn't long before they finally reached their school; it was large with tall palm trees standing straight by the side of the pathway that leads down the middle to the front entrance. The car park was almost packed while there were many students buzzing past each other and parked cars like bees in a huge hive. Lucas successfully found a space close by and parked the car in it before the three of them jumped out and began walking through the car park.
There was a white car with a young woman leaning on the front side, Jennifer was wearing a pink vest with a denim jacket and a denim skirt that reaches down to the top of her knees. Her dirty blonde, curly hair flowed down over her shoulders and a delighted grin grew when she spotted Lucas walking over to her.
"S'up baby" Lucas approached her and Jennifer welcomed his Cheshire-Cat grin, she was a hot girl Lucas has been infatuated with for a short while, like a fling.
"Hey you" she gave him the googly eyes.
"Now hang on. I see you somewhere else. I swear. Let me check" pretending to search up something on his phone, while Jennifer patiently waited to see what's the punchline, "Ah... yes! I see. You must have been paid a lot for being on Love Island."
A sweet chortle escaped from her rosy lips, "See you tonight then."
"Will do, baby" Lucas passed a sexy wink to her before strolling away.
Charlie was waiting on the other side till Lucas re-join him, his arms across his arms as Charlie rolled his eyes, "Still the charmer, I see."
"Oh, you should know. It runs in the genes" Lucas hysterically smirked and his cousin rolled his brown eyes.
Many students shaded in different colours and styles blended together as they were all walking towards the front entrance with the American flag hanging high on the white pole standing just outside of it. The three were strolling towards the front entrance, Lucas was falling behind as he was focusing on his phone checking his text massagers.
A few people passed by Lucas and he said 'hi' to all of them who came in contact as Lucas was standing by a few metres away from the front doors. By the corner of his eye, Lucas pulled his attention away from his phone and peeked across the car park and gazed past the blurry students walking past as he spotted a young woman, similar age to Lucas but slightly older. The woman had a Native-American background with long, darkish-brown hair, while standing in a lonely shadow underneath a tree, all dressed in black, wearing a long sleeve jumpsuit and a wide, black scarf covering her arms and behind her head including her back.
Lucas felt a lonely, sharp stare from the woman as though her gaze dived through his eyes and into his mixture soul. The wind became chilling as it blew past his body and raised goosebumps across his pale arms and the hairs on the back of his neck. The shadowy woman's eyes were like an empty, deep well that is filled with darkness and yet Lucas was coiled with an unsettling feeling that wants to discover the mysterious unknown.
"Lucas!" he snapped back to reality when he heard his name again, Lucas looked to his side and saw Faith standing near him while giving him a concerned look, "You okay?"
Lucas didn't answer at first as he looked back at the position the woman was standing but she wasn't there, yet he could still feel her cold presence printed under the shadow of a tree. He blinked a few times testing to see if his vision was working while scanning around, Lucas replied, "Yeah. Fine."
"Come on! We're going to be late" Faith gently pulled his strong arm in her direction. Lucas still held his gaze at the location where the girl was, but he quickly abandons his gaze and focused on Faith as he followed her up to the front entrance of the school.
Steeping inside the huge school where there was rectangle shape, the open roof where you could view the first two floors above with yellow barriers positioned around the edges. The floors were held by brown brick columns and the sidewalls and ceilings were painted in a creamy colour. Charlie had to depart from the others as he had a separate lesson in a part of the building, leaving Lucas and Faith walking together through the cramped hallways.
"Morningstar" a crabby voice echoed from behind Lucas.
Lucas closed his eyes and deeply sighed knowing that voice belongs to a teacher, but not one of those stroppy ones who act like they want to improve the lives of their students and only want to entertain themselves in a higher position. He turned around saw a middle-aged, English teacher, Ms Davis who was on duty by getting students to come in ready and corrected clothed by the short yet ridiculous dress code. Lucas approached with an amiable grin, "Yes, Ms Davis."
"Is it sunny inside?" she crossed her arms,
"Not really" he sedately replied while slightly shaking his head.
"So, do you need your sunglasses on?" her sharp eyes darted to his sunglasses.
"Well, sunglasses are used to go against the light from blinding you. However, I'm using them as an attraction" Lucas explained and Ms Davis silently hummed waiting for more excuses to come up at her as Lucas continued, "And, this also supports the literature theory of Shakespeare as he quote, 'eyes are the windows to your soul' so smart girls who like literature and cannot see my eyes which then leads them intrigue."
Skilfully, Lucas spins her sunglasses by the tip of his fingers touching the temples and slides them over his ears, hangs the nose pad over Lucas' nose. A brazen smile expanded on his face, "Mystifying is the new attracting."
Ms Davis gently pinches the sunglasses off, folded them and used them strictly instructed, "Lose the glasses and the sassy attitude."
"Okay" Lucas agreed after he was handed back his sunglasses.
Later onwards, time went a bit fast during his first period of the day, Maths was alright for Lucas as he does enjoy a bit of puzzling. Compare to his second period after, History was not his best subject, mostly because History classes were always treated so dull and boring by his tedious teacher.
"Understand that by this time Napoléon thought he was invincible. And this is where he made his big mistake, for when he attacked" an older teacher, Mr. Foster turned to the white board and began scribbling down his facts, jotting down long facts while explaining, "The Russians skilfully retreated into their own country. They lured him on, and he reached Moscow to find it in ruins."
Almost everyone in the classroom was already half asleep from the tiresome atmosphere they were sitting in. Heads leaning on their hands and crossed arms, eyes half-open desperately trying not to let their eyelids close.
Lucas had his notebooks out front of him, at first, he was writing down some key facts however he sneakily hides his phone undeath the unfolded books. On the screen, Lucas was scrolling through TikTok videos and Snapchat photos, mainly of those who Lucas follow but the moment he was checking to see how his sister, Trixie was doing. She was working at NASA and Lucas happily smiled at her messages when she messaged him that she will be coming to L.A soon for Summer. Lucas hasn't seen his older sister since Easter so he couldn't wait to see Trixie soon.
"Lucas!" swiftly raised his head and pulled his focus back on the board when Mr. Foster called his name. Lucas was calm and didn't show any sign of worriedness, of course, the teacher likes to challenge his students and so he did, "I don't suppose you were listening to what I was saying just now and explain to us about what I said."
"About…" Lucas glanced up at the board, "How the Russians played at surrender until the winter settled in and then Napoléon began his disastrous retreat. Despite Marshal Ney's heroic rear-guard action, the Grand Army was cut down from 600,000 to less than 50,000."
He asked in an impudently smug, "Did I say something incorrect, Mr. Foster?"
Desperately wanting to seal his lips tight, Mr. Foster confessed in a disbelief tone, "No."
Within that second, the bell rang loudly within the classroom, all the students sigh in relief and they didn't waste a second scooping their books and packing them back in their bags. Lucas prayed to himself as he glanced up at the ceiling, "Thank you, Uncle A."
When everyone dashed out of the classroom, Lucas was roaming through the crowded hallway as Faith dodged past some students to catch up with Lucas before she commented, "That was close."
"Not close enough" Lucas replied, never afraid to show out his adroitness to prove someone wrong.
"You could have been in trouble" Faith friendly warned.
"For what? Answering a question" Lucas carelessly huffed, Faith silently sighed at her friend's sly behaviour and wondered 'how the hell did he get away with it?'
During recess, Lucas was in the line for receiving his lunch food in the cafeteria, in the end, he was handed a dark green tray with a grilled chicken sandwich on a plate, a Lay's crisp package, a red apple and a bottle of water. He sat down on a long, black, rectangular table that stands near the centre of the cafeteria, meanwhile Faith was chatting to her other group friends on the far side. Unexpectedly, another student arrived at his table uninvited, Lucas knew the guy Jason, a clown and nerd who likes a bit of gossip and always wants to be the first to spread it around. It isn't really a surprise that Jason is doing journalism for the school's newspaper and as an apprentice for the Los Angeles Wave company.
Wearing a stripy, tatty top with a white shirt underneath and a pair of light brown trousers, Jason sparsely sat down next to Lucas while a baffled look swelled on Lucas' face as he forced a fake, lopsided smile, "Jason, hey, you okay man?"
"Hi, Lucas, can I ask you a favour?" his question slipped through his shaking lips.
"Well, you definitely came to right guy" ever since he became a teen, Lucas' dad had taught about dealing favours and what you can get out from them. At the beginning of high school, Lucas has dealt favours with nearly all of the students, as well as teachers. Lucas span him around so his right leg swings over the other side of the chair, "What I can I do for you?"
Lucas could sense the nervousness spreading across Jason's face and rustling the low tone of his voice, as Jason stuttered, "Okay, I've worked for the 'Los Angeles Wave' newspaper company for almost a year now. And I've wanting to find something big, you know."
"Hmm" Lucas hummed in an understanding yet wary tone while nodding and carefully listening.
"But I couldn't. Until I started working at the "Organelle" foundation and I found out something big" Jason widened the distance between his hands in front of him, exampling how huge his new renaissance was.
"Right. Well, I can advise you to be careful when writing these things down in the papers" everyone knows that sometimes people, mainly journalists, get in deep trouble for exposing something crisis in the papers.
Jason rapidly shook his head denying Lucas' advice, "No, no, I know that. But I was hoping if I talk to your parents."
His trembling words raised Lucas' curious eyebrows and made him pull his head back in surprise, "My parents?"
"Yeah. They're cops, right?" Jason asked.
"Well yeah, but…" Lucas mattered before a long pause appeared between the two while rewinding Jason's words in his head. Lucas gave Jason a suspicious stare, "How serious are we talking about here?"
"I'll definitely say something really illegal" Jason directly answered.
Jason widen his eyes in disbelief, "You're not taking the piss?"
"No" he hummed in a low and nervous tone.
"Okay, I will ask them so you can talk to them" Lucas vowed which slaps a relief grin on Jason's face and exhaled as though he was able to breathe calmly.
"Great. Thanks."
"But, I'm at that party tonight so, I'll probably talk to them tomorrow. But, you know proof or something about this thing you got" Lucas alerted him.
"Sure. That's fine. Thanks again" Jason patted on the right side of Lucas' shoulder.
After that second, Faith walks in from behind while carrying her lunch tray with food on top, and replaced the empty seat Jason was sitting in. She gazes back at Jason in a far distance before shifting her focus onto Lucas, "What was Jason talking about?"
"He asked me for a favour" Lucas answered before digging into his lunch by starting with his grille chicken sandwich.
"What about?"
"He thinks he found something illegal in a company and he wants me to talk to my parents about it" Lucas explains.
"He thinks?"
"Well, you know Jason, he not always right and he misleads some situations. Remember, in 9th grade, he thought the hamburgers from the cafeteria were horse meat" he reminded her that Inconvenient claptrap he gossiped around in the school years ago.
"Oh yeah" Faith chuckled as she recalled the hilarious time, "Surprised he didn't get suspended"
Near the end of recess, a young girl came up to Faith and handed her a green leaflet, the girl beamed, "Join our society."
"Thanks" Faith gladly received the leaflet as the girl walks away.
Lucas looks over trying to read the words from the front page with a curious gaze, "What is it?"
"A leaflet for the Catholic society" Faith answered as she began reading through the pages
After finishing his last piece of sandwich, Lucas asked, "Thinking of joining in?"
"Yeah. Not just because I'm a catholic, but I'm also like to be open-minded about things. We only learnt is about start of creation, or how Jesus was born than thirty years later died" "We never learn outside of the belief, for example, the book of Enoch, has some interesting stories I learnt. Plus, this would be good for me for my online theology course."
Truthfully, Lucas didn't really seem too interested in all of that stuff, since knowing who his father really is, Lucas also learnt about Lucifer's past. Seeing how his dad was treated badly by his family and how humanity has described him over the millennium because what has certain have written about lucifer in books like the Bible. Lucas promised himself not to look nor believe in what the Bible says because it might definitely be false. Faith noticed how Lucas careless and dislike was as it was clearly written on his face, "I know you don't like the whole thing because of what they say about the Devil."
"I just think he gets a bad rec, that's all" Lucas carelessly complained.
"And, because of your dad" reading him like an open book, Faith continued, "Now, I'm not saying that I don't like his name, I actually do. I think it sounds unique in its own way. Though, I did think it was a bit unusual to name a kid after Satan."
"Well, it's just a name, it may mean the Devil, but it doesn't mean evil. It actually means 'Bringer of Light' in Latin" Lucas elucidates. He couldn't understand why people like the name 'Lucifer' when it's pronounced by a man, but when naming a kid that name then everyone will go ballistic. It's a natural name, which doesn't really mean evil or cruelty or anything bad. Then, Lucas thought of an example, "If there was a kid named 'Adolf' you wouldn't instantly assume he's an insane, racist, serious killer."
"No. But if that kid was white, tall, has his hair combed, and has a square shape moustache. Then I'll say 'Shit! Hitler has been reincarnated!'" Faith facetiously mocked in which they both noisily laughed.
After the last period in school, Faith and Charlie assembled back at Lucas' car, parked their school bags and study books in the boot, and Lucas starts the new journey to a beach. There large car park where it was already half crowded, everyone there was
They walked down a long stairway of stairs that leads down to the lower floor which was the sandy beach. Eight, tall, wooden poles widen out a large area where it hangs patio string lights from each pole in a square-like shape. At one end, there was a big, white stage where a d.j is playing his upbeat, pop music, next to it where there is a small food and drink truck where almost everyone from school was there revelling.
Charlie fell into his year group and started hanging about with them, Lucas and Faith were already kicked off dancing within the myriad of young, dancing students. Most people were jumping into the air, their feet flipping off from the floor which their toes blew the sand up into the salty air. Lucas always admitted out of the two of them that Faith was the best dancer, even when Faith says she's crap or embarrassed. He watches her showing her best dance moves as they both follow the upbeat rhythm from the song '2002' by Anne-Marie.
Oops, I got 99 problems singing bye, bye, bye
Hold up, if you wanna go and take a ride with me
Better hit me, baby, one more time
Paint a picture for you and me
Of the days when we were young
Singing at the top of both our lungs
On the day we fell in love
"This is so cool" Faith blissfully screamed while waving her arms in the salty air, "I should be working at Fosselman's." Faith works part-time at Fosselman's Ice Cream café.
"Just enjoy yourself! We are still young!" Lucas vehemently howled like a wild wolf which was then followed by more howls from those around him who heard him first.
Everyone was dancing with their hands filled with drinks and snacks like hotdogs or stuffed tortillas. Every single people there were enjoying the time of their lives, all except one. Jason was standing by the far end of the dancing crowd, didn't seem too intrigued in joining in with the rest. He stood close by the stage, instead of expressing the feeling of joy on his face, Jason developed an expression of fear at a point where his breathing became heavy.
When Lucas' face was visible through the crowd, Jason sucked a deep breathe in before taking off and dashing toward him. Lucas didn't notice Jason at first as he was hanging around with Charlie and some other fellas.
Jason firmly tugged Lucas' arm to get his attention, once he succeed Jason yelled, "Lucas! I need to talk to you!"
"What?" Lucas roared as the music was still loud, couldn't really catch what Jason was telling him so he leaned in a bit closer.
"I said I need to talk to you! It's urgent!" Jason repeated himself.
"We will. Just party a bit okay" Lucas counsel in a cheerful tone as he was enjoying himself.
"It's serious!" Jason bawled. Apparently, Lucas was so lost joyously lost in the party and the classy music he didn't hear the fear poisoning in Jason's voice nor how panicky Jason was at that moment.
"Chill Jason! I promised you this afternoon! Remember! Okay!" Lucas eloquently yelled. Placing his hand on Jason's shoulder and rubbed his shoulders, wanting to suppress the conversation so he could wander away from him and rejoined his friends and continued enjoying himself.
By the food truck, Charlie was standing by a white table with where he placed his cup onto which was filled with fizzy juice. There were a few people hanging about at the edge of the table, where one of them bumped into the table which rumbles the surface leading Charlie's cup to edge and tipped off. Within that split-second, Charlie waved his hand forward and an invisible, puissant force vibrated from his palm aiming directly to his cup. Then, the falling cup wasn't falling anymore as its' entire movement was in slow motion, including the liquid slipping out.
Anxious at his sudden reaction and that people might see his power, Charlie wasted no time and rapidly grabbed his cup and scoop the liquid back in his cup. He shifted his gaze side to side checking if no one has noticed his chronokinesis power, thankfully no human did, however Lucas spotted the short accident through the small gaps between moving people. Afterwards, Charlie deeply exhaled thankful that he was unrecognised by his celestial powers.
Slithering his way through the crowd and reached his cousin as Lucas stood by the table on the same side. First, acting like he saw nothing until he indicated, "I thought our parents said we should never use our powers in public."
"It was an accident" Charlie corrected and argued back, "And, besides you're a one to talk. Using your mojo to attack the ladies."
"Hey, it's only half strong as dad's so I have to do half of the flirting" Lucas pointed out before he placed the edge of a Budweiser bottle in the middle of his mouth and took a large sip. After gulping, Lucas commented, "But, good catch by the way."
The d.j started playing the uplifting and memorable song "Sweet Dreams" by Annie Lennox and everyone howled in delight as most of the students started singing with the lyrics.
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something
Lucas turned and faced the dancing crowd where he stared straight down the centre and caught a face that already blew winter chills down his spine and splatted his face with a shock. The same, young, Native woman wearing the same, black clothing was ghostly standing in the centre of the crowd. No one else besides Lucas notice her presence as Lucas was frozen by her emotionless gaze yet the woman's face was painted in sorrow.
Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused
"Hey! Excuse me!" Lucas shouted as he started slithering his way through the dancing crowd. The woman didn't respond but her sharp stare was still on him, however when Lucas was closely approaching the woman slowly turned around and faced the opposite way.
"Hey! Wait! Wait!" Lucas yelled, trying to rush faster through the crowd knowing that the woman was about to leave.
A few heads were blocking his view and that sadly made Lucas miss the woman's disappearance. He finally reached the spot she was standing yet Lucas couldn't see the woman as his surroundings were filled with jumping people and dashes of bright lights sparkling through.
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something
"Lucas!" unaware that his name was called from behind as the music rang to his ears and Lucas was too focus on the mysterious woman. He turned to find Faith by his side looking at her friend with a concerned look, "You okay?"
"You saw her right?" Lucas asked, raising his voice as the music was getting louder after every song, while he was scanning around.
"Saw who?" Faith questioned trying to catch his attention.
"A woman! She was here. She was literally right here a second ago" he pointed his fingers down to the location he was standing in.
"Which one?" Faith noted how there were many young ladies around.
"None here. She was in all black! Had a long scarf" Lucas' explains, but Faith looked bewildered, "She was at our school this morning."
"All black? No, sorry" Faith shakes her bemused head wondering why anyone would wear all black in the summer heat.
"You haven't been spiked or anything?" Faith suggested.
"I'm not wasted! Not yet" denied her salutation as Lucas was getting a bit frustrated. Faith raised an eyebrow before Lucas replied, "Kidding!"
As a half-angel Lucas and Charlie don't get drunk as easily as average humans so Lucas should have been in the right mind and wasn't imagining anything. The sun hasn't already set yet as it was still pretty bright at the moment.
"Look, sit down for a while, okay. Then, see how you're feeling then?" Faith advised before she slips away through the crowd so she could join back with her other group friends.
Faith was dancing with her girlfriends and Charlie was beginning to enjoy himself at the party. The d.j changed the music to "BED" (by Joel Corry, Raye and David Guetta) and this time a few couples from the crowd joined together and danced closely.
"Hey again" a sweet voice appeared behind him.
Turned around and saw Jennifer standing next to him, wearing the same clothes from this morning without her denim jacket, exposing her arms and her upper chest. Lucas smirked, "Hi."
"Wanna go somewhere private?" she asked, before pulling back so Lucas could see a niche interest hinted in her eyes.
Pretty sure Lucas knew exactly what she was thinking at that instant, Lucas nodded, "Sure."
He still couldn't get that mysterious outside of her head, but Lucas was willing to let that subject go till later and told himself to enjoy the night will it last. Jennifer grabbed his left hand and guided them out from the dancing crowd, at the same time Lucas' right hand reached to the back of his trousers and checked to feel that there was a condom still tucked in one of the pockets. The couple unhurriedly walked past some dancing students, Lucas could feel her excitement vibrating through her arms to his.
I got a bed, but I'd rather be in yours tonight
I got a bed, but I'd rather be in
That's what I say when I call you on the phone tonight
I got a bed, but I'd rather be in yours
Once they were in a private area around a corner where the loud music slightly fades away into the salty air, Jennifer didn't waste a second and pressed her lips upon Lucas' and he accepted the kiss. Lucas delightfully moaned when Jennifer plunged her tongue through open lips and twist it around his. Jennifer wrapped her arms around his neck and dug her hands into his black hair, while Lucas smoothly glides his hands over her back where it reveals her tanned skin.
"I've waited a long time for this" she seductively purred against her ear.
"Really?" Lucas teased when he slightly shifted his waist closer to hers, "Why don't you tell me your deepest desire and I'll make it happen tonight."
After becoming a teen, Lucas started developing his dad's power of drawing people's desires. Since then, Lucas vowed never to use his powers for his advantage or badly use anyone, like women for sex, as his parents have taught him to respect women and everyone equally. Jennifer was locked in a trace with Lucas' blue eyes and expressed her desire, "I want to make this a memorable night."
"Works like a charm" Lucas euphorically thought.
Softly, Jennifer pressed him against a huge rock behind trapping Lucas as he could feel the rough surface crunching behind him while pulling Jennifer's body closer to him. His smooth hands glide down her spine till he gently holds on the sides of her waist. Jennifer was pulling on his black hair to get Lucas ever closer as though she couldn't get enough of his addictive flavour. Lucas moved his smoggy kisses down the edges of her mouth making Jennifer breathlessly pant every second. She groaned louder when Lucas softly sucked her silking skin which would definitely leave some faint hickeys on her neck.
"Wow, look at that sunset" Jennifer whispered as Lucas followed her gaze to the side.
It was a beautiful view of the orange, the glowing sun just touching the edge of the horizon and the blue sea below was perfectly reflecting the shape and colour of the burning sun with the sky painted in melted colours goldish yellow and light pink. They both grinned at the flawless sighting as Lucas kindly offered, "Want me to take a photo of you in front of it?"
Gratefully, Jennifer took out her phone and handed it over to Lucas before she walked over and stood in front of the beautiful sunset. Lucas took a few pictures on the phone of Jennifer poses, he warmly commented, "Beautiful as always"
A giggle escaped from her lips and Jennifer's cheeks went red as she blushed, "Okay. Your turn."
Lucas went along and handed back her phone and replaced Jennifer's position. He stood in front of the sun and raised his right hand to make the peace sign.
"Ready…"
"Three…"
"Two…"
Lucas waited for the flash from the phone, but it never came.
Jennifer never reached the white circle on her phone screen to take the shot as her attention was snatched away when a person was dropped straight to the ground behind Lucas. Releasing a huge scream from her wide mouth and her hands raised that nearly covered her parted lips. The terror scream reached a few people back at the party and the suspicions spread to the rest like a virus, even Faith caught the horrific scream to her pricked ears.
Confused at her reaction, Lucas gradually rushed over to her, "Jennifer?"
"Oh my… oh my G-" she stumbles back as Jennifer was beginning to breathe heavily.
"Jennifer? What is it?" Lucas asked as he gently held on the side of Jennifer's shoulder to get her to look at him and answer.
"Th-There…" Jennifer tearfully exclaimed as she lifted a shaking arm and pointed towards where she saw the person plummet.
Lucas turned around and gazed down at her pointing direction but there was nothing in sight. He softly ordered before he rushed ahead, "Stay here. Okay. I'm gonna check."
His baffled mind didn't know what to do when Lucas left Jennifer alone, but he wanted to see what it was she saw. Speedily dashed around a huge, hard rock and was heading down to a lower ground level, Lucas still couldn't see anything although he felt like he was walking into a horror film. The more steps Lucas take and pressed upon the soft sand, the more he was receiving a freezing and apprehensive chill down his spine which becomes colder by the second.
Once Lucas reaches around the corner while he caught the bright, orange light from the sunset, softly shining in his eyes. He stepped out into the edge of an empty beach and in that second, Lucas' body froze and didn't move a muscle as though his feet were sinking into the yellow sand like he was trapped in quicksand. The pale paint of fear was dotted across his face and his eyes widen in shock, Lucas's breathing hitched in a whisper, "What the f-"
He was in deep aghast when Lucas gawked at the strange figure who was none other than Jason himself, but he wasn't alive. Jason was lying on the floor facing upwards, his legs and arms were weirdly spread out and his head leans back with the back of it was hugely split from banging on top of a big, sharp rock. From where he was standing, Lucas spotted two bullet wounds were marked in the centre of his chest.
As a child with two parents who work as detectives, Lucas hears and learn how they deal with solving murder crimes. But, never in his entire life has Lucas witnessed a real murdered body in front of him. Lucas couldn't pull his stare away from the lifeless body as he scanned the entire, cold body. Tiny sands glued themselves on the brown hair on the back of Jason's head from the sticky blood, and the open wounds blooming more blood on the top of Jason's chest. Lucas' stomach was twisting into a tight knot making Lucas feel like he was going to massively throw up. He wanted to shout for help or make a phone call, but winter arrived too early within Lucas' body as his muscles were still completely frozen.
"What's going on?" a female voice echoed from behind as lots of people started showing up at the scene. Faith and Charlie reached to the front and gasped in shock at the gnarly dead body.
"Someone call 911!" another voice shouted from the crowd.
Charlie saw how his younger cousin was frozen in fear and made the first move as Charlie stepped in from behind gently rubbed his shoulders and tried to pull Lucas back, away from the body, "Come on, Lucas."
While they were walking through the crowd, a few people have given him a few sceptical stares as they only saw Lucas there standing by the dead body. Even though, Charlie managed to pull Lucas back and they began walking through the crowd away, Lucas couldn't get rid of the image of the dead body imprinted in his baffled mind. The only question that has repeating nonstop in his head since he saw the dead body saying there in the sand;
What the hell just happened?
Hey guys, thank you if you were intrigued by the intro and wanted to read on. I really hoped you enjoyed the first chapter. I have posted this chapter in December however I've noticed some big mistakes so I'm reposting it, thank you to KnightRanger4ver. Sorry, for the confusion.
I've written a few easter eggs from the film, 'Damien - Omen II' a sequel to the classic film 'The Omen' which is based on the antichrist. The History lesson is linked to the classroom scene where they also talked about Napoléon.
In case anyone gets confused about their powers; Lucas is the same as his dad, he can draw out people's desires. Charlie's gift is similar to his dad's, he can slow down time but only on a specific.
The mysterious woman in this character, I can her as Xochitl Gomez, who is a young and great actress and will act as Ms Marvel in "Doctor Strange 2: in the multiverse of madness."
Please leave some comments, I would love to hear your thoughts and what you would like to see in the next future chapters.
See you soon...
