They didn't talk about what happened at first, but when Friday rolled around, Sasuke ordered wings and set them in front of her with napkins.

Hinata pouted at him.

"I know they've become a craving since you mentioned them." Sasuke pointed out. "And you can eat them savagely in the comforts of our own home."

"Why didn't you go to the bar?" Hinata asked, picking up one of the sauced wings ripping off a chunk.

"Why don't you eat as you like in front of everyone else?" Sasuke asked back, receiving an annoyed look.

"I asked first." She grumbled.

"I'll answer if you will." He dealt. She made a face but nodded. "I stopped going to the bar primarily because there was always that one asshole, my friends or not, who had to make comments about your kid." He sighed. "I don't think you need to hear any of it, but it was stupid and annoying enough that I'd rather have a beer here than going out with friends that I already don't really like that want to bring up shit like what Naruto has been up to and what I think happened between you two."

"I'm sorry." She mumbled, looking ashamed.

"It isn't your fault." He scolded. "Don't do that. I took you in, my decision, but getting mad at them and telling them to stop talking about it would have just made me look more guilty. Honestly, I don't think the rumor is going away until the kid comes out looking nothing like me. I got sick of hearing it, so I stopped showing up."

Hinata was quiet for a moment before giving her an answer. "I never really ate with my fingers around Naruto because he always made a joke that he thought a 'pretty lady' never ate with her fingers every single time I would. My father never let me, so I guess it wasn't that different from home. I just thought as an adult moved out, I would be able to eat the way I wanted without a comment every time."

"I think it's cute." He admitted. She turned red. "Like a savage bunny."

Her blush darkened as she stuffed another torn-off piece in her mouth.

"You don't have to be embarrassed to EAT here." He pressed, taking one of the wings attempting to tear it as she did. "How do you even do that?"

Hinata smiled at him and his struggle.

"You know, you told me off when I made fun of you for it. Why didn't you ever do that to him?" Sasuke asked, giving up and taking a bite out of it.

Hinata looked down at her food. "I guess I know you're joking and don't care how I eat. If you did mind, you wouldn't say it like a joke. You would tell me straight. Naruto wasn't like that. If he didn't like something, he would mention it every single time. I guess either hoping you would get the point or just complaining about it until you stopped."

He thought back to school. He did remember a lot of complaining. "I guess that never really worked on me, so I never really saw it."

Hinata continued to eat savagely into her wings as she mumbled on. "When we first moved into our apartment, he talked about me decorating every day. I hadn't even moved most of my stuff from home."

Sasuke nodded. It sounded right. He once punched him for talking about the same ramen shop across town for a month that he honestly hadn't had the time to head to because of school.

"Then, when I started, he seemed… disappointed every day until it was done." She frowned down at the wing she had half torn apart. "Once I was done, he was happy. Everything he dreamed of, but instead of taking the time and building it together, I made it as quickly as I could so I didn't have to hear 'oh aren't you done' another time he came home."

"Damn." He sighed. "I want to say fuck him, but I can't tell if he was doing this all on purpose or not."

"I think I spoiled him." She whispered thoughtfully. "I gave him everything he wanted, as fast as I could manage, just to make him happy because he was everything I ever wanted. I thought I would have to work for that. I was getting a reward at the end of the day. He came home to me. He said he loved me. I thought that was enough."

"That is bullshit." He told her flatly. "If you are doing all the work in a relationship, it is a trash relationship."

"I get that now, and I think I started to get that right before he left. I guess I thought I could work to even it out. I guess it's a good thing that he figured it out now. I'd rather my child grow up without a father than grow attached to a father than that father just drop them." She sadly mumbled, shoving the food in her mouth.

"You're hard to take seriously when eating like that." He chuckled.

Hinata joined him, laughing at her but sadder. "I'm glad you find it so amusing."

Sasuke put down another bone and wiped his hands. "Are we going to talk about Sakura?"

"No," Hinata mumbled, looking at her drink and frowning at her dirty hands.

He handed her a napkin. "You seemed pretty pissed."

"I was." She wiped her hands, took her drink, and sipped it.

He sighed. "Alright."

Hinata blinked at him, surprised.

"I'm not going to push it." He shrugged. "Not my place here."

Hinata grabbed another wing and started her shredding. "He always liked Sakura-chan. It was never a secret that she was his first choice. I guess it annoys me that he told her so much that she knew that he wanted a boy, and she thought because of that I would be upset with a girl."

"I guess that makes sense. To be fair, I can't stand Sakura, so any point you make against her will likely land with me." He offered.

"I thought you dated in high school and college." She wondered.

"Did she tell you that?" He asked. She shrugged. "She hung on me all through high school and college. She and Naruto both did. I took her to dances and parties because she would always have a last-minute crying fit that she didn't have a date, despite the fact I know Naruto would have taken her. I would give in sometimes just to shut her up for a while. Once we no longer had classes together, the bar is the only place I see her, which is why she was upset. I don't show up anymore."

She gave him a sympathetic look. "All the girls were chasing after you in school."

"You weren't." Sasuke pointed out. "Sakura claims she's over me, but she still hangs on me and gets upset when other girls are around. It's like having a jealous ex-wife I never married."

Hineara laughed and wiped her hands with her last bone in the box. "I know what it's like to be in love with something you can't have."

Sasuke rolled his eyes. "You know she was defensive that I wasn't the father, but she never defended you. She didn't seem to have a problem thinking you cheated. Her problem was the idea that you cheated with me."

Hinata sighed. "I'm not surprised at this point. Ino-chan thought I got you drunk, and that would be the only reason you would have possibly slept with me, but I think she was drunk when she sent me that accusation, so I won't hold it against her." She sipped her drink and sat back, pausing to ponder a thought. "I can't see you and Sakura-chan together."

"Me neither." He joked.

"I know, but I mean in general. Sakura-chan's always wanted this loving, charming, sweep her off her feet romance. She talked about it all the time. She wants romantic dinners, surprise gifts, and flowers. She wanted absolute devotion. Someone that needs her, and you..." He made a face like he was about to be insulted. She waved her hands, showing him no offense. "You're not that. You're simple. You don't expect much, and you don't think others should expect much of you. You do something because you feel like it rather than because it is expected of you. I think you would be far more likely to get someone something they need rather than flowers. Someday, I think that a girl will appreciate that. Sakura-chan needs a prince that is just as driven and perfect seeking as she is."

"You know when people describe me, simple is not what they go with." He mused his cheeks a little red.

"People seem to project this bad boy persona on you because you're frank and blunt. You don't mess around with what you don't want, and I think people see it as you putting on a front." She trailed off thoughtfully.

"What about you?" He asked.

"What do you mean?" She wondered.

"What is it that you are looking for?" He prodded.

Hinata looked down. "I thought I knew." She whispered. "I wanted my white picket fence with a happy husband, with 2.5 kids in suburbia. Where I could have dinner on the table and get a kiss as he came home happy to see the kids and me. Juggling work and taking the kids to programs, and at the end of the day, everyone would be happy just being together. Where the most drama I would have to deal with was a PTA meeting and bake sales."

"Your aspirations to be a soccer mom?" He asked flatly.

"I'm so stupid." She whined, leaning her head back.

"No. It's not stupid. You wanted to be a loving wife and mother and to be rewarded as such. That's not stupid. Though I think the choice of man was the problem." He assured her by patting her leg. "So, what do you want now?"

"I want… I don't know. I thought my dating life was over. I thought I said 'I do,' and that was the end." She huffed. "I have a baby on the way, and my divorce papers aren't even finalized. I shouldn't be dating."

"It doesn't have to be, but you know some guys think single moms are hot." He raised an eyebrow.

"I hate you." She mumbled, tossing one of the clean napkins at him.

He didn't dodge it as it floated at him. "My turn then. I think you need someone who will appreciate everything you do, even if he doesn't always say it. You need to feel it. You need to feel appreciated and comfortable, and never like you aren't enough for them. A guy you can eat like a horror show rabbit in front of, could care less about decorations, doesn't give a shit if dinner is ever made, and likes your hair however you want to wear it."

She smiled, blushing, her heart feeling just a little healed by his acceptance of her dumb habits.

"You need someone who thinks of you when they think of their perfect wife, not someone else you have to be like." She sighed, feeling tears well up. "No crying." He said quickly.

She let out a laugh-sob. "Sorry."

"I didn't say anything you shouldn't already know." He mumbled.

"Yeah. I guess you're right. I guess that's why I'm here pregnant, divorced, staying with my ex-husbands best friend." She sighed.

"Hey, he's my ex too." He pointed at her as he got up to get more sodas and take the takeout plates. "I think taking in his wife and kid after he flies the coop is grounds for friend divorce."

She giggled.
