Luna had no idea how long she was unconscious for. But while she was dreaming of everything that had happened. At first, she could see her old pack, the one with her mother, father, and her two siblings.
She was the youngest of the litter. She loved her family dearly. She was as strong as her father, Ryan, was. She was destined to be the next alpha of their pack. Her mother would tell them stories of the Lunar Flowers, and of Paradise. Ryan would teach them about what would happen when they grew up.
However, nobody knew that destruction would fall upon them because of a noble's ship. All this time, she believed that her entire family was dead. But after seeing Samara and Aaron alive, she couldn't be happier.
"Well hello there. I never thought I'd ever see such a pretty woman such as you," he said, making it obvious that he was flirting with her. Luna rolled her green eyes and crossed her arms, making it clear that she doesn't like being flirted with.
"Try anything and I will kick your ass. Don't think I won't." Luna tells him, "Man, the first wolf I see in three months and the first thing they do is flirt with me." He chuckled cheekily while scratching the back of his head. "Sorry, it's a force of habit I've got," he replies.
"Yeah, I can definitely tell. Do you do that with all the women you met?" Luna says sarcastically. He blushed a bit. "You got me. I'm Hige," he says, pointing at himself by using his thumbs.
"Luna." Luna introduces herself, seeing that this wolf isn't as bad as he seems. "Well, Luna, it looks like I met my new best friend," Hige says, giving the black she-wolf a friendly smile. "Likewise." Luna replied, smiling back at him.
Luna's eyebrow furrowed at the name, Cheza. Up to this point in her life, she's never heard of that name. She is familiar with the stories of Paradise because of her grandparents but neither one of them mentioned Cheza.
"Who's that?" Luna asked in a whisper. "From what I've heard in this town, she's the flower maiden created from lunar flowers. The nobles made her from lost alchemy and boom, she's here." Hige answered her, keeping his voice low so the humans wouldn't hear them.
"Damn, I gotta say you really screwed up." Hige chuckled. No reaction. "You gotta be so blind sighted to get caught by the humans." Luna scoffed, "Can't say I've seen one of our own kind get captured before but this is priceless." The white wolf opened his wolf eyes again to look at the duo.
"I can leave when I feel like it." he distantly says. "Really? Then, why're you in there?" Hige asked him, his head resting in his hand. "I just… needed a place to rest is all." the white wolf replied tiredly.
Luna grinned at the condition that he was in. This wolf was laying in a small pool of his own blood so finding a place to rest would be an understatement. "I'm Hige and this she-wolf's Luna." Hige introduced for the both of them.
The white wolf didn't seem all that interested in a conversation let alone learning their names. "So why are you two in here?" the white wolf asked them. Luna shrugged her shoulders at the question.
"Eh… he got curious and decided to come here to see who was connected to that gunshot. I just followed him." Luna replied. "Hey, now. It seemed like something interesting was gonna happen so I followed my nose." Hige said in a chilled way.
The white wolf took note of the two wolves not being in their true forms. Needless to say, he didn't like that they were doing it. "Those aren't your true forms. Why do you two hide yourselves?" he asked them.
"Isn't it obvious? It's so we don't end up where you're at. I do it to protect myself around the humans. It's what I do when I enter a new city." Luna answers bluntly. Whenever she would enter an unfamiliar city, she'd turn to her human form to keep herself protected. She had learned to do so around three months ago.
The white wolf didn't believe in the whole thing of disguising oneself as a human to protect themselves from the lingering eyes of the humans. It disgusted him to the very core.
"She's right. It's what we do to trick the humans and to protect ourselves, more importantly. Keep looking like that and you'll only wind up back here in no time." Hige agreed with Luna. The white wolf started to growl at the two wolves, baring his wolf fangs slightly.
"You both are living lies. Do you two wish to die a miserable death in this city?" he growled, sounding angered. Luna wasn't fazed by his cold reaction at all. "Hey, it's what we do to survive. You're just asking for trouble if you don't hide yourself." the black she-wolf spat, narrowing her green eyes at him.
She knew to hold her ground against this white wolf. "Have you two given up your pride as wolves?!" the white wolf snarls, jumping up as he snarled at the two wolves. Hige's eyes widened a bit from the white wolf's remark but he immediately softened up with a smile.
"Damn, you really are strange. But does pride really count if you're dead?" he replied coolly. The white wolf was left dumbfounded at that. He didn't think of it that way.
Then, a loud siren rang from above them, making Luna look up. "I think that's our cue to leave." she said to the two other wolves. She then looked back at the white wolf with a serious look on her face, "Look, unless you want to let said wolf pride completely dig its heels into you completely then that's your choice, but think about this, how about you let yourself blend in with the rest of the humans. It's the only option a wolf can survive out here."
Hige was stunned by Luna's smarticles as well as the white wolf. "Wow, didn't take you to be the brainy type." the dun mexican wolf said with a warm smile. Luna scoffed and stood back up to her feet.
"Don't start with me. C'mon, let's get the hell out of here before the humans catch us." Luna said, getting him to back up a bit. Hige also stood up as they waited for the white wolf to make his escape.
Luna walked down the street with her hands in her pockets. She looked through the few strands of hair that rested in front of her eyes as she walked inconspicuously. That same flowery scent was still lingering in the air. The black she-wolf smelled it, taking in a few deep inhales.
After a while of walking, she decided to find a place to take a break. She thought she could get a couple of hours of shut eye since she didn't get much sleep the previous night. She turned into another alleyway and saw that she wasn't alone.
Eating from a trash can, was another wolf. A smaller wolf. "Hello there." she said softly. The wolf looked at her, his gold-yellow wolf eyes widened a little bit. He was much smaller and slender than her. His fur was reddish brown with a sandy brown face mask and sandy brown bottom half. He also wore four bracelets on his right foreleg that made a jangling sound whenever he walked.
The red wolf saw that Luna was also a wolf, a much bigger wolf compared to him. "You're another wolf… just like me?" he asked in a timid voice. Luna walked to him and saw him stand in his human form. "Yeah. I'm a wolf too." she tells him.
He had light chestnut-red hair that came down to his neck. His eyes were a light, golden brown color. He had an effeminate face and fair caucasion skin. He wore a faded, red zipper shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, olive green cargo pants and dark green military boots.
The red wolf smiled at the black she-wolf and extended his hand for a handshake. "I'm Toboe! What's your name?" he asked in a friendly tone. "Luna. It's nice to meet you, Toboe." Luna said with a smile as she accepted the handshake.
"Why're you going through the trash?" she asked him, going back to when she saw him digging through the trash. Toboe looked a little embarrassed that she saw him doing that. "That's how I find food. There's not much here and… it's all I've got." he answered in a timid, shy voice.
"Oh… I see. Must be really hard." Luna commented, feeling sympathy for the young wolf, "I didn't expect to find such a young wolf before." "Really? I mean, you're the first wolf I've ever seen. It's awesome that there's more of our kind here." Toboe replied in an adorable way, making Luna smile.
She couldn't help but chuckle at the adorableness of this pup. It was sad to see him fighting the crows here for food just so he could make it another day. "Why don't we find ourselves some food? I'll do what I can to help you out. No wolf should go hungry." Luna offered.
"You will? Oh, that's so nice of you! C'mon, I think I know where we can get something." Toboe said, grabbing the black she-wolf by her hand. He pulled Luna behind him. "Alright, you lead the way, kid." Luna said, following him out of the alleyway.
Luna and Toboe were shocked that Tsume came back down to save the two other wolves. "Jump! Hurry!" he shouted, still looking at the old human. Luna leaped from wall to wall in order to make it to the roof. Tsume and Toboe followed after her as quickly as they could.
The three wolves ran to another part of town. Tsume was walking as if nothing had happened back there. He didn't want to acknowledge that he just saved two strangers just then. Luna and Toboe walk behind him but he keeps his back turned towards them.
"Who the heck was that? What's up with his dog?" Toboe asked, looking behind them with a slight worried expression. "Don't know. Don't care." Tsume said coldly. Luna rolled her eyes at the grey wolf's attitude. She was technically the same way but at least she's got a caring side.
"Hey, you're Tsume, right? It's amazing that she's the only other wolf I've seen in this city." Toboe said in a bubbly tone. Tsume glanced back at the silent she-wolf, who has yet to speak. He then looked back ahead of him with a scoff, as if he approved nothing of what he saw.
"The crows said you befriend and run wild with the humans!" Toboe said. "You heard wrong? I don't have any friends." Tsume replied distantly. "Ain't that sad for you." Luna commented in a smartass way.
Tsume looked back at the black she-wolf in disgust. Even though she was irritated by this wolf, she was also amused by the scowl look on his face. "I'm Toboe and this is Luna." Toboe introduced, using his thumb to point at her.
"Yeah, um… thanks for saving our asses back there." Luna tells Tsume, even though she feels that he doesn't deserve her thanks. "Get lost, both of you." Tsume growled. He looked back at the two wolves with a cold look on his face.
"I'm getting pissed off. And it only happens when I'm around idiots." Tsume spat at them, making it obvious that he didn't want anything to do with them. "But… can we come with you?" Toboe asked, feeling hurt at what Tsume said. "No. You two can't." Tsume replied, walking away from them. "Psh, fine. I didn't want to go anyway." Luna said, turning away and jumping down from the ledge.
Luna hadn't noticed that she was separated from Toboe. She was too irritated to actually notice. Toboe had no choice but to leave without Luna beside him and he didn't want to bother her about it.
Luna couldn't believe she let that fear overwhelm her to the point of freezing up, something that has never happened before. That would've been the second time she was almost shot by that same hunter.
What the pack saw made the air from their lungs disappear. Kiba softly gasped when he saw… Cheza. The Flower Maiden, who was sitting on a rock with her feet in the water looking down. But she had sensed the wolves presence not a second after their arrival.
She opened her fully red eyes and looked up at the small pack with a kind and jovial smile. Luna and them gasped in surprise that this was actually the flower maiden. "It can't be… is it really?" Luna said breathlessly, feeling her heart beating hard in her chest.
"My heart just skipped a beat!" Toboe said, clutching his chest with a balled fist. "Who is that?" Tsume asked, feeling skeptical of this new face. Luna had her eyes glued onto Cheza; she couldn't believe that was actually looking at the flower maiden. "This is the maiden that Hige told me about…" Luna thought to herself.
Cheza stood up from the rock that she was sitting on. Kiba started to walk towards her, as if he was in a trance. "Hold on…" Tsume said, trying to stop him. However, Kiba ignored her since he was attracted to her.
The white wolf walked down to where she was and stepped in the water. Luna and the others just watched in silence. Kiba smiled down at her gently.
Cheza blinked and smiled when she saw Kiba in his wolf form. His golden wolf eyes looking up at her, his wolf ears raised all the way. Cheza leaned down and ran her fingers through his fur.
The feeling of her touch felt tranquil to him; he felt at peace. His wolf ears slowly dropped and his golden wolf eyes closed as she continued to pet him. Cheza kneeled down in front of him and she wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him gently.
"We meet… at last." Cheza spoke, her voice soft and sweet in his ear.
"Aw… I wanna be held like that." Toboe said with a smile. "Is that really her?" Luna asked, having a new warm feeling as she looked at the flower maiden. "Yeah, that's her. That's the flower maiden." Hige said in a bubbly tone, a smile on his face.
Tsume was the only one out of them that wasn't as enthused as them. He had felt a shiver go up his spine before coming here. Luna looked at the grey wolf to see an unamused expression on his face.
Kiba and Cheza walk out of the lake, hand in hand so she could meet the other wolves. She gave each of them a warm smile, showing that she was no threat to them. She looks at Luna, who stood in her wolf form.
The black she-wolf walked up to the Flower Maiden with her notched wolf ears raised a bit. "It's nice to meet you… Luna." Cheza said to her, gently petting the top of Luna's wolf head. Luna's wolf ears dropped a little and her gold wolf eyes closed from the relaxed feeling.
It was as if all her worries had faded away in an instant. This was something that Luna had never felt before as Cheza ran her fingers through her black fur. Luna even wagged her wolf tail.
