Chapter three: The beginning.

July 1984

A young girl, at the age of seven was sat in the back seat of a red Vauxhall Cavalier estate. She was clutching her favourite teddy bear, pinky, close to her chest, it's pink ribbon and namesake, currently being entwined over the little girls fingers.

She peered in front of her and briefly glanced at her parents. They were chatting away, talking about adult stuff that she had no interest in. All she could think about was her friends. She was happy in Seattle, why did her mom and dad decide to move so far away.

The young girl stared miserably at the back of the seat in front of her, focused on the little bit of string protruding from it's slightly worn out grey exterior. She couldn't help it anymore. Her best friend Jessica had a sleepover the night before they left for California. She would never see her, or her other friends Tegan and Blair ever again. This was the reason a tear now dribbled down the girls pretty face.

The motel they stayed in last night didn't help matters. There were people making so much noise next door, screaming and making loud thumping noises, she couldn't sleep when people were having fights next door. Their room also stunk of what could only be described as a butchers shop, that just intensified the uncomfortable feeling she had. And to make matters even worse, they were now back in the car, in the middle of another long journey. The large trailer attached to the back of the car was rattling and clunking away. Blazing hot rays of sunshine barged through the windows like unstoppable meteors, adding to her discomfort. More tears were released down onto her cheeks, accompanied by a little sob which alerted one of her parents.

"Kimberly, are you okay sweetie?" the mother turned around and saw that her daughter had started to cry.

"Kimmy, please don't cry again baby." The girls mom twisted her head to fully look at her child and blew away a stray light brown hair from in front of her eyes. "Look, Angel Grove is where your daddy lived when he was your age. Isn't it a beautiful city David?" She asked her husband.

David Hart kept his eyes on the road but answered his wife's question swiftly. "Yes Kimberly darling. You know I've told you before, it's an absolutely amazing city," He glanced at his daughter through the rear view mirror. "It's much better than Seattle. It's got beaches, it's got lots of sunshine and loads of fun places to go. You were born there too and you loved it you know." He finished, paying close attention to the road in front of him but also making sure he glanced back at his daughter whenever he could.

"Really daddy. I loved it?" Kimberly asked her dad.

"You sure did sweetie,"

"Then why did we move away," Kimberly cocked her head slightly and wondered why they went to Seattle in the first place.

Kimberly's mum glanced at her husband before answering. "Well, you see Kimmy, mommy and daddy moved to Seattle because grandma Annabelle lived in Seattle and mommy had to look after grandma because she was sick. So we moved there to be closer to her."

"Is that why I never saw grandma Annabelle mommy? Because she died." Kimberly asked.

"Well, kinda. I mean, you did see grandma but you just can't remember."

"Okay. But then why are we moving back to Angel cove?" she asked, playing with a lock of her golden brown hair.

"It's Angel Grove Princess." David corrected his daughter, affording himself a little giggle.

"Daddy misses Angel Grove. He was happy there and so were we. So it makes sense to start over in Angel Grove. Do you understand baby?" Kimberly's mom said, sending her daughter a warm smile.

"I think so. But I'm still going to miss my friends," Kimberly said, increasing her already firm grip on her teddy bear.

"We will all find more friends in Angel Grove. I promise you Kimberly," David Hart took a turn and entered into California. "Hold on tight now darling. We haven't got much longer to go. We'll be there soon." David said, picking up speed.

Kimberly leaned back into the car seat and gripped pinky tightly to her chest. She still missed her friends and doubted that she would ever find anyone else she loved as much as she loved her friends back in Seattle. She wiped away the last of her remaining tears on her chin and looked out of the window. She noticed that the weather was definitely better, the summer sunshine was rampant, the hills and mountains looked absolutely stunning. The beautiful view from the blazing hot car window gave her a tiny bit of hope. She loosened her grip on pinky and took in the sights of California.

Mason Scott finished the last bit of lasagne on his plate. The garlic from the sauce was still stirring up some saliva as he took a big swig of water, putting the glass down and turning to his wife. "You really outdid yourself with that one Jean."

"Oh thank you darling. I used anchovies in the sauce," She said, biting her lip and waiting for her husbands response.

"What. Anchovies?" He gave his wife a puzzled look.

"Yes. Just a couple at the beginning of the sauce." She took her husbands empty plate and laid it on top of hers. "Mrs Russo told me that Italians usually chuck in some anchovies at the start when making sauces." Jean noticed her husbands slightly shocked face, " You can't taste it though can you. It just disintegrates into the sauce,"

"But aren't anchovies little fish Mom?" a young dark brown haired boy spoke up, swallowing a large fork of food

"Yes they are Jason. You know, like you see on pizzas,"

"Fish in lasagne and pizza. That's weird," he responded.

"Yeah, but you still love your mommy's cooking don't you,"

Little Jason patted the corners of his mouth with a napkin and put down his knife and fork. "I certainly do mom. You're the best," He said, drawing out a big smile from both his parents.

"Ain't you a little charmer." Mason said, grinning at his son.

"Wonder where he gets that from," Jeanette Scott turned and gave her husband a secretive smile.

"Is it okay if I ride my bike for a bit dad," Jason stood up and looked to his dad for permission.

"Yeah, but don't be out for too long, you gotta practice your Katas,"

"If I knew I would be getting homework, I wouldn't have started karate," Jason said, walking over to the front door.

"Oh you'll thank me for it one day you little rascal," His father called out after him.

Jason grinned back at his father before closing the front door behind him. He approached the open garage door to retrieve his red BMX bicycle. Slowly reverse pedalling out and turning, he saw the house two doors away. The Robertsons had moved out a few weeks ago which meant that the Scotts would be getting new neighbours who would be moving in at any time now.

Jason got along very well with the youngest Robertson, Chris. The Robertson's had decided to move across to stone canyon, the city next to Angel Grove. He remembered how much he teased Chris and called him a traitor, but truth be told, he would actually miss him. He was glad his best friend Zack Taylor wasn't going anywhere or he'd have been devastated.

As Jason pedalled past number 173 Beech Grove, he let out a small sigh.

Seven year old Jason Lee Scott had rode his bike around Angel Grove Park, a stones throw away from his house, and had just arrived at the beginning of a pathway leading out of the park and towards Beech Grove.

He was perfectly aware that the sun was starting to dim a little, signalling that it would be sunset soon. Knowing how angry his mom would get if he came home after sunset, Jason put his slightly aching feet to work and pedalled briskly, reaching the top of his street in no time.

He immediately halted when he saw a big red car in the driveway of number 173.

Oh the new neighbours are here. Jason thought, finding himself pedalling forward. He watched as a man around his own dads age, lifted things out of the huge trailer connected to the back of the car. Jason started to wonder who else was moving in. Did this man have any children, a new potential friend. He carried on pedalling, until he was just a couple of metres away from the new neighbours front yard when to his disappointment, he saw a woman, and stood next to her, a young girl holding a Teddy bear in her arms. And to top it all off, his mom was already stood next to them chatting away with the new neighbour, and he was sure he had just seen his dad helping the man carry things into the house.

Oh no not a girl. Why did it have to be a girl. And mom and dad are already becoming best friends with them. he thought as he took a good look at her. He was staring so avidly at the new neighbours, that he totally forgot he was still pedalling and BOOM. Jason's bicycle collided with the big beech tree that was separating his house and Number 173.

He felt a searing pain travel down his arm as he laid there on the grass surrounding the tree, he managed to alleviate a bit of pressure from his arm and somewhat dragged his body off of the crushed limb. He looked up expecting to see his mom coming to his aid but he was shocked to see the neighbours young daughter running towards him instead. She arrived at the tree and site of the crash in no time and knelt down placing an arm into Jason's healthy right arm, helping him up from beneath the bike.

"Are you okay? That looked nasty." She asked him as Jason dusted himself off, his left arm throbbing with pain.

"I'm okay." He lied. Not wanting to sound like a wimp to his new neighbour.

The young girl surveyed his arm and saw that it was tucked into his side, as still as a stone. "Are you sure? Your arm looks weird," She said.

Jason looked down at his arm and saw that it indeed looked a bit weird tucked to his side so he conjured up all of his might to straighten it slightly, he regretted this instantly as it caused him to wince in pain.

"Are you sure you're okay?" The girl gave Jason a concerned look.

"Yeah, I think so," He replied.

"I hope so, I'm Kimberly by the way." The young girl outstretched her right arm and offered her hand to Jason who gently shook it.

"Oh my god, my baby. Are you okay," Jeanette Scott noticed that it was her son who had the accident, came running towards Jason. Enveloping him in a hug.

"Ouch," Jason winced.

"Your arm. Does it hurt?" Mrs Scott asked.

"Yeah kinda," Jason answered. Deciding to be half honest with his mom. It hurt like hell!

"My dad knows fast aid, he should be able to help." Little Kimberly said, watching the mother fussing over her son.

Mrs Scott smiled at the young girl, finding her innocence and mix up of words very adorable. "Thank you dear." She told her, offering her a very warm smile.

Mason Scott had just finished assisting David Hart with taking the family belongings into the house. He just came out onto the porch and witnessed his son and wife being guided towards them by the new neighbours' kid. He saw Jason's bike crashed against the tree and noticed Jason cradling his left arm.

Mr Hart noticed too, he briskly walked over towards Jason and Mrs Scott. "Hey guys, is everything okay?" He asked.

"Daddy, I think this boy has broked his arm, can you help him?" Kimberly said, Walking to stand next to her fathers side and holding his hand.

"I don't think it's breaked Sir." Jason replied.

"I'll take a look at it. I'm no doctor, but I do know a thing or two about these situations." He said, giving Mr and Mrs Scott a comforting look. "I would invite you inside but we do have a lot of unpacking and setting up to do. I don't know how comfortable you will all be." Mr Hart allowed himself a wry smile.

"Well, you're more than welcome in our house." Mr Scott said, casting his new neighbours a warm smile.

"Definitely, and I'm sure you could do with a good drink and a bite to eat," Mrs Scott added.

As the adults planned their next move, the two children just stood there, opposite one another, waiting for their parents to make a decision, all whilst glancing at each other and offering little smiles.

They decided to all go to the Scotts' House and rather quickly as Jason really needed checking over.

Kimberly walked hand in hand with her father towards their new neighbours house and noticed their door number. "177! I was born in '77'. That's so cool." She said, failing to hide the excitement in her voice.

The adults all gave her an amused smile, appreciating her happiness at such a small detail. Jason however gave her daggers. It was just a stupid door number. He couldn't believe how silly girls were. They're also caring, I mean she ran to help you didn't she. He tried to ignore the voice in his head as they crossed the porch and landed in front of a dark oak front door which Mr Scott opened and let everybody inside, making sure his son was okay before leading everyone into the living room.

The Scott's took off their shoes, and the Hart family followed their lead, despite the Scotts protests. They were at awe with the house. It had a similar layout to their new house but it had definitely had some work done on it. They could see extensions and custom walls and details jotted all around the home. The living room was very spacious and the beautify oriental style red carpet, instantly made them feel at come, their shoeless bare feet, happily sinking into its fluffiness.

Mr and Mrs Scott led them to the pastel beige sofas and implored them to get comfortable.

David Hart soon accepted a can of beer from Mr Scott and turned his attentions to the young boy in front of him. "Now then kiddo, let's see what we have here," He said, eyeing up the arm, looking for any sign of damage.

Mr and Mrs Scott were sat on the opposite sofa, watching on. "Sorry David, I don't mean to be rude, but what form of medical training do you know?" Jeanette Scott asked.

David gently ran a finger along Jason's forearm and looked up to answer his new neighbours question.

"I'm a healthcare assistant." He answered, giving the Scott's a warm smile, turning back to glance at his wife and daughter sat on the sofa behind him, before rotating his head back to Jason. "I basically help doctors by recording patient history and files, assisting with carrying out treatments and so on, Jason can you touch your face with your left hand?" David asked.

Jason slowly, and painfully touched his forehead with his fingertips.

David turned to look at the Scotts. "The good news is that your son can move his arm. Which indicates that it's not badly broken."

"Badly broken?" Mrs Scott inquired.

David turned to look at young Jason again. "I'm guessing by your reactions that it really hurts when you move it?" David asked, raising his eyebrows slightly and showing the youngster a warm smile.

"Yes it does hurt." Jason finally admitted. Glancing behind David at his daughter. He didn't want to seem like a wimp in front of a girl.

"It could possibly be a little break of the bone and judging by the slight bruising and swelling, it may very well be a very bad sprain," David again turned to look at Mason and Jean. "But I would be more inclined to think it is a stable fracture or a greenstick fracture." David saw the look of horror Mrs Scott has etched on her face. "It's nothing to worry about, they're usually very mild and heal rather quickly. How old are you Jason?" David asked.

"I'm seven," Jason answered.

"Oh I'm seven too," little Kimberly stuck her head out from behind her father and grinned at Jason.

Oh great Jason said to himself.

"Well, since you're pretty young, this should heal very quickly Jason." David turned to Jason's parents again. "But I would recommend you send him for an X-ray just to be sure,"

"Right thank you David. Come on kiddo. Let's get going." Mr Scott stood up and moved towards his son.

"Dad, it doesn't hurt that much. Can't we go tomorrow instead?" Jason asked, making sure he showed off how tough he thought he was.

"No way, no way Jason Lee Scott." His mother said firmly.

"Mom I promise its okay. Look," Jason used all of his determination and stubbornness to painfully lift up his left arm. "See. I'm okay mom."

"Are you sure baby?" Jean asked her son.

"Yes mom. Is that okay Sir?" Jason turned to speak to his new neighbour who had just finished checking his arm.

"That's fine with me. If your son is in pain, give him some children's anti inflammatory medication like ibuprofen, you know, Advil." David responded, turning around, resting back into the couch and opening his beer.

"Thank you David, I guess it should be okay. If you are in pain Jason you come straight to me. Do you understand?" It was more of a demand than a request from Mrs Scott. Jason smiled at his mom and nodded his head.

"Right, now that's settled. Do you guys like lasagne?" Jean Scott asked the Harts.

"It's my favorite!" Said Kimberly with excitement evident in her voice.

"No. We couldn't possibly intrude." Mrs Hart said.

"You won't be intruding at all Karen. You have had a long trip and I'm sure you could all do with a good meal." Mr Scott took a big swig of his beer. "And trust me, my wife makes THE best lasagne." He added with a grin.

Karen Hart glanced at her husband who gave his wife and daughter a smile, before accepting the offer.

Despite his protests, Jason was carried into the den by his dad and was laid on the couch with his arm resting on a cushion, watching TV and relaxing. Mrs Scott served her new neighbours some lasagne on the dining table in the kitchen, much to the delight of their young daughter.

"Oh wow. This is so yummy." Kimberly said, cutting up her next bite of lasagne.

"Yes, it really is Jean. We'll have to start swapping recipes," Karen Hart added, scooping up another fork full of hot, cheesy, melt-in-your mouth lasagne.

"Yes, and thank you Mason. It means a lot that you've shown us such great hospitality." David Hart said, appreciating the love his new neighbours were showing.

"No sweat David. It's my pleasure." Mr Scott replied to which everyone responded with smiles.

"So, What line of work are you in Jean?" Mrs Hart inquired, taking a sip of the cool soda offered to her by Mrs Scott.

"Well I WAS an administrative assistant, but ever since Mason here became construction manager, we really didn't need both of us working. So I guess I'm a full time housewife" Mrs Scott said with a shrug of her shoulders.

"You're more than that dear," Mr Scott added, showing his wife a warm smile. "I've been in construction since I was a teenager. Finally became the construction manager a few years ago."

"Ah right. I can see you have made some adjustments to your house. It looks splendid." Mr Hart said, putting down his knife and fork at the side of his empty dinner plate.

"Thank you. It was certainly overdue." Mr Scott replied.

"How about you Karen?" Mrs Scott asked.

"I'm a hair stylist. I managed to get a job here at La Touché Finale. Have you heard of it?" Mrs Hart asked.

"Have I heard of it. It's the biggest joint in Angel Grove." Mrs Scott's eyes widened with surprise. "They do the best hair, pedicures, manicures, the lot. They're huge and not only in Angel Grove."

Mrs Hart was slightly shocked. "I knew they were big but I didn't know they were this big." She gave her neighbour a little smile. "And you should pop down after I start working. You look lovely but I'm sure you'll enjoy some pampering."

Mrs Scott's smile broadened. "I'd love to,"

Their two husbands gave each other incredulous looks, not looking forward to where this conversation was flowing.

"Can I come too mom," Kimberly chimed in, finally finishing her lasagne.

"Of course sweetie." Her mom gave her a peck on the cheek. "Even though you get personal free treatments at home," giving her daughter a wink.

"Yes, I was about to say that I'm not surprised how wonderful both your hair is. Especially you Kimberly." Mrs Scott stood up and collected everyone's plates.

"No Jean. I can't let you do dishes too." Mrs Hart stood up, ready to take the plates from her hosts hands.

"You are our guests. Please, relax."

"I don't think we can relax much longer," David Hart checked his watch and saw that it was just past 9pm. "We have a lot of unpacking and sorting out to do before we can get ready for the night, our beds are not yet assembled and I've kinda dumped everything in the living room." He said.

"Would you like me to give you a hand David? " Mr Scott asked.

"After everything you have done already. I couldn't..."

"It's fine. I'm handy with these things. We'll get you settled in much quicker. I'm sure little Kimberly is tired." Mason said, glancing at her.

"A little bit." Kimberly replied.

"Well then it's settled. Karen and Kimberly could stay here and wind down until you guys are done?" Mrs Scott offered.

Karen considered it for a moment. She wanted to go with her husband to make sure everything would be set up to her satisfaction. There was just something about the Scott's that made her comfortable. She wouldn't leave her daughter with strangers but for some reason, she felt totally comfortable leaving her here. "That's fine with me. But I'll be going too, I have a lot of things that need unpacking. Kimberly darling, are you going to be okay here?" she turned to look at her daughter who was considering the offer.

"You can go in the den and watch TV with Jason?" Mrs Scott added.

"Yes please. I haven't watched for days." Kimberly's face shone like a bright light in the middle of the night, her smile going from one ear to the other.

The Harts were very grateful to their new neighbours, not only for providing them with a comforting meal, but also lifting the spirits of their daughter who was until recently, complaining about missing her friends back in Seattle. She seemed happy in this moment and that's what mattered most to them.

Mason set off with David and Karen Hart, leaving Jason and Kimberly in the den with Mrs Scott keeping an eye on them. She was currently in the kitchen doing the washing up.

Kimberly was sat on the opposite end of the sofa on which Jason was laid on, resting his arm. The TV was on and Jason was half heartedly watching the days football recap show.

"Do you actually watch this stuff?" Kimberly asked Jason.

"Yeah, but I've already seen today's game." He replied, not taking his eyes off the TV, even though he knew the outcome.

"Oh, okay. So you're seven like me?" Kimberly asked, looking at her new neighbour.

"Yep."

"Which school do you go to?"

"Angel Grove elementary."

Kimberly's eyes lit up. "That's where I'll be going,"

Oh great. New neighbour and her parents are already best friends with mom and dad. She'll want to be my best friend too.

"Isn't that cool?" Kimberly asked.

"Huh, Yeah I guess it is." Jason quickly glanced in her direction. "Where are you from again?" Turning his gaze back to the TV.

"Seattle, Washington." Kimberly frowned a little.

"Okay. Cool."

"You know. I left all my friends back in Seattle."

Jason turned his head and saw that his new neighbour looked rather upset. His chest began to feel a bit heavy, guilt taking over from watching her being so distressed, and he wasn't exactly being friendly with her. "You'll find new friends here you know. Don't be sad."

"I guess you're right. Like my mommy and daddy are friends with your mommy and daddy." Kimberly said, Pulling her legs up underneath her, getting comfortable.

"Exactly,"

"Are you my friend?" Kimberly asked.

Jason turned his head to look at Kimberly. "But you're a girl."

"So? Girls and boys can be friends you know. Like our parents."

"Yeah. I guess you're right." Jason returned to absently watch the TV in front of him. "But everyone will tease me if I become your friend."

"Oh. Okay then."

Jason moved his head to his right once again and saw the frown on the girls face. She looked so heartbroken.

"Hey, what kinda music do you listen to?" He asked.

Kimberly's face began to liven up again, her frown fading away and turning into a smile. "I love Madonna. Lucky star is my favourite song,"

"My mom likes Madonna. What's Lucky star?" Jason was puzzled and had never heard the song, so he thought. But his mom played it all the time.

Kimberly ignored his question as she was too excited to share her favourite songs. "I LOVE culture club. The chameleon song is so cool. I like Michael Jackson, bananarama, and oh let's hear it for the boy was released on my birthday." She finished with a little laugh.

"Oh-kay. I agree with Michael Jackson. When is your birthday?" Jason asked.

"February 14th, when is yours?"

"My birthday is October 20th."

"Ooooh your birthday is real close."

"Yeah, I can't wait."

"I bet, but you didn't tell me your favourite music."

Jason furrowed his brow and stroked his chin with his healthy hand, thinking about his favourite songs and bands his dad had exposed him to. "Well, I love rock and roll."

"Ewwww really?" Kimberly scrunched up his nose.

"Don't ewwww rock and roll. It's the best. You have Van Halen, bon Jovi, Kiss, AC/DC and Queen. And classic bands like Zed zeppelin." He had a feeling he got the last one wrong, but she wouldn't know anyway.

"Queen. I think my mom and dad listen to queen too. She must be really famous."

"Queen isn't a girl." Jason giggled because Kimberly looked totally confused. "It's an awesome band. They're from England and my dad says they call themselves queen because of the Queen of England or something. They have the best singer in the world. Freddie Mercury," Jason finished.

"He sounds so cool." Kimberly said, now turning to face Jason full on.

"I can put his songs on for you sometime, if you want."

"Does that mean were friends?" Kimberly asked.

"I don't know Kimberly." He regretted his answer instantly as he saw the young girl look disappointed again. "Yeah, maybe."

Kimberly have him a small smile, "Okay, what about movies. I really want to watch that new movie. The neverending story."

"Oooh yes. I want to watch that too. It looks so fun,"

They both sat there and smiled each other. Jason knew what she would say next. He didn't know how but he just knew. So he quickly answered her unasked question. "Yes, maybe we could go with our parents and watch it."

"That would be so cool." Kimberly said, smiling at the youngster who could feel his face getting really warm for some reason. He turned his gaze away and it landed next to the TV.

"Hey, have you ever played Pac-man. I think you'll love it," Jason said, pointing to the side of the TV towards his intellivision games console with his healthy hand.

Kimberly's smile faded ever so slightly. " Video games are for boys, but thank you."

"Says who?" Jason questioned, furrowing his brow, it was now his turn to contend her viewpoint.

Kimberly shrugged her small shoulders. "I dunno. Everyone."

"That's not true Kimberly."

"You remembered my name." Kimberly's faint little smile started to emerge and increase in size.

"Why wouldn't I?" Jason queried.

"I dunno." Kimberly crinkled her nose. "You won't be able to play though." Kimberly jabbed her thumb towards Jason's injured arm. She found herself changing the subject for a reason that she wasn't aware of.

Jason was taken aback by this girls empathetic nature. She hardly knew him but she had already ran to his aid and was now more worried about his arm injury than even himself. "I ummmm, I will teach you how to play. How's that?"

"Deal, Just don't tell everyone that I played video games" Kimberly replied, a big smile now covering her face, Jason nodded his head in response.

Seven year old Jason Lee Scott taught his new, soon to be classmate all the tips and tricks required to excel in Pac-man. She failed miserably a good few times but soon picked up the knowledge and knack for the game. It was a few hours too early when her parents came for her, her bedroom was ready and it was now time for her to settle into the new house.

Her parents were pleasantly surprised to find their usually very girly daughter playing a video game, and even more surprised when their young daughter ecstatically told them she reached level 50. She wasn't happy when they told her she needed to go home and get ready for bed, but she knew she was getting tired.

Jason followed the Harts as they made their way out of the house to go two doors away to their new home. Just before Kimberly left, he decided to tell her something that may just help her be more comfortable with her move to a new city.

"Hey ummmm , Kimberly." Jason said just before Kimberly stepped out of the dark oak front door.

"Call me Kim." She replied turning to face him.

"Kim, I umm, I don't care what anyone says. You're definitely my friend, and you're welcome here whenever you want."

Jason wasn't prepared for what came next. He was shocked when he found himself in a tight embrace with his newest friend. Kimberly's parents were overjoyed that their daughter had befriended someone so quickly. To think of it, so did they.

Just before Mrs Scott closed the front door, Jason was afforded a wave from Kimberly, a wave which he eagerly reciprocated.

As Kimberly approached her new porch. She took one last look behind her, past the big beech tree separating their houses and peered at the dark brown door of 177 Beech Grove. Just a few hours in Angel Grove and she had a friend already. Maybe moving here wouldn't be as hard as she thought. Maybe moving to Angel Grove would actually be a good thing. As her mom closed the front door of her new house, Kimberly's little face displayed the biggest smile it had shown in the last few weeks. She turned around and smiled further when she saw how beautiful her new home was. Maybe Angel Grove was a new beginning. A new beginning she never thought she would need.

Jason wandered back into the den, perplexed that he had just befriended a girl. All the boys at school teased the girls and they would surely tease him if they found out he had a girl as a friend. His throbbing arm reminded him of the fact that this girl had shown him so much care. Not many strangers would run to help someone like that. He would, but many wouldn't. He afforded himself a little smile as he arrived at the sofa and saw Kimberly's teddy bear.

Present day

"This is the first time I'll be in this house as something more than just your friend," Kimberly said as she exited the cab, pulling her pink dress down past her knees and exhaling deeply. There was no way Kimberly would ride Jason's motorbike and mess up her hair and clothes. Not today, not a day of such importance.

"Is that why you look so nervous?" Her fiancé Jason said, moving to stand next to her.

"I think so," Kimberly replied. Taking in the view of the house in front of her. After a few moments, she turned her head to the right and eyed up a familiar tree on the sidewalk. "That's where it all started huh."

Jason followed her gaze and fixed his eye upon the beech tree that had seemingly grown along with them. "Yeah, who would've thought,"

"Well, to be honest. Everyone but us." Kimberly replied. Her eyes darted behind the tree and at door number 173 before moving them back to the tree.

"I dunno. Now that I think back to it all. It always seemed like we were on this path." Jason eyes glossed over as he moved his gaze away from the tree and glued it to Kimberly's, who responded in kind.

"There was always something in the air wasn't there?" she asked.

"There was." Jason smiled and got a smile in return. "I'm just glad we bit the bullet and realised what was going on,"

"Too right," Kimberly smiled and placed her hand in Jason's and then took a step towards the porch in front of them. "You know. I almost instantly regretted going to Florida," she said, which caused Jason to look into her eyes again which made her quickly explain her last sentence. "But if I didn't go there, you wouldn't have gone there. And we would've never admitted our feelings to each other."

They crossed the porch and stood there, hand in hand. "Maybe. But everything happens for a reason right?" Jason questioned.

"It sure does. And I'm so glad its happened for us Jase." Kimberly gently pecked her partner on his cheek, took a big deep breath and then knocked on a dark oak front door that she remembered very well from her childhood.

I hope you enjoy this chapter. I've purposely misspelled some words as it's little kids chatting away and I know little kids always miss-pronounce words lol.Tell me what you all think of it. Thank you
