Chapter 21 – MMPR part 2.

The lights popped on as soon as all five rangers were out of the car and their eyes opened in shock as they looked around and saw that they were in the old command center.

But it didn't look right. Nearly everything was missing apart from the floor and the control panels. Even the control panels were ripped apart with a bunch of wires sticking out. There were cloth screens all around the place, covering up places like where Zordon's tube was supposed to be.

And to make matters even more bizarre, as the rangers looked at each other, they noticed that each one of them looked strikingly different.

Jason's face was young, and full once more. He no longer had his pierced ear and he was leaner than he had been in years, yet he was still rather muscular, just softer than now. Kimberly's hair was shorter and her face also showed signs of youth, her clothing choices were something that she had not worn in over half a decade. Zack no longer had the goatee that he had kept for a number of years now. His hair wasn't short, it was now back to the flat top/fade that he used to wear in high school. Trini's appearance was screaming nineties. Her beautiful long hair was hidden inside a very colourful blossom hat and her face looked even smoother and softer than now, which seemed impossible. Billy looked vastly different. His contact lenses were gone and his glasses were now back on his face. He was much less muscular and his hair was all over the place. Not neat and tidy as it had been ever since he came back from Aquitar. The rangers gawped at each other, shocked at their appearances.

"Nice scene guys, but I think we'll do a re-shoot."

A man with a long stubble with extra emphasis on the goatee, and shoulder length wavy, black hair, walked towards the rangers who tore their eyes off from each other and stiffened in response to this man addressing them.

"I think we'll go back to the original plan that Billy should drive the radbug. I mean it is his invention after all. Ammi right David?" The man said, walking up to Billy and gently slapping his shoulder.

"David?" Billy repeated, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

The situation was getting even weirder.

As more lights came on, the rangers looked around and saw an opening where the back of the command center would normally be. And right there, beyond that opening was a dusty, worn out looking room full of people and cameras, pointing their way.

"Robert back there." The man jabbed his finger behind him towards another man, a little younger than him, sitting on what appeared to be a tall, wooden chair. "Well, he believes we need to re-shoot scene twelve because it doesn't make sense for Jason to drive the flying car. Or fly it, you know whatta mean."

The bearded man clapped his hands together and smiled brightly at them. "Is that cool?"

The rangers glanced at each other, at a total loss for words. What was going on. Why was this stranger deciding who drove the radbug. Why was the command center here, half destroyed. Why were there a bunch of people in the half built command center. Were they re-building it? Were they here from K0-35 on Andros's orders to help them. Jason thought that must be it. But it didn't explain the cameras. Nor what this man meant by " nice scene".

"What's up with you guys. Come on, we haven't got much time left." The man stroked back his hair and tapped his wristwatch, walking back towards the group of people at the back of what appeared to be the command center. "It's getting late, it's half past ten and we need to be back here at 8am to shoot green with evil part two. So come on, take a quick break, gather yourselves and let's finish part one."

"Wait, I don't understand what's going on!" Jason broke the ranger's silence and addressed this man they had never seen before. What was green with evil. And shoot? Shoot what?

The man twisted on the spot to face the rangers. "Is anyone else confused?" he asked.

The rangers glanced at each other once more. Incredulous expressions on their faces. Totally bewildered.

"Look Austin, you're the youngest here." The man addressed Jason, who frowned upon the man calling him Austin. "So I can understand. But the rest of you, David, Amy, you guys should know everything off by heart. I'm surprised at you," he said, wagging his finger at the blue and pink rangers. "Take a look at the scripts. You've got fifteen minutes." And with that, the strange man turned around and walked away.

Kimberly and Billy looked at each other, their eyebrows threatening to fly off the top of their heads. What the hell was going on.

"Shuki, tell them the thing." The man called Robert shouted out.

The bearded man, apparently called Shuki, twisted his head back once again, almost bored now, rolling his eyes and staring at Kimberly.

"Amy, we're probably going to pair you up with Jason, so don't get too close to Austin all the time. We've noticed you just get too close to him," he said with an apologetic wince. "Yes, we were going to match up Kimberly and Jason. But if this Tommy character gets over with the audience, we may bring him back as a love interest of Kimberly." Shuki took a big deep breath and continued. "So, even though nothing is set in stone, Kimberly may end up dating tommy, so you need to get closer to Jason for it to work. Do you understand?"

That wasn't really a question. It was an order, and with that, he spun back around and walked away.

Kimberly couldn't understand any less. "I'm going to be dating tommy but I need to get closer to Jason. What the hell was that all about. It doesn't make sense. Why are these strangers deciding who I date anyway?" Her face was screwed up in shock. What was this strange man talking about?

"Guys, what in the name of all that is good and holy is going on here?" Zack asked his friends, eyeing the group of four or five men stood a few metres behind them.

"I dunno man. This is some crazy shit!" Jason muttered, unable to take his eyes away from the bearded man and unable to process what he had just heard.

"Hey, look guys. It's Alpha!" Trini pointed out.

Sure enough, walking up to them from deep inside the command center, was Alpha 5. His robotic feet clanking along the ground and he walked.

The rangers darted towards Alpha and landed by his side, shaking and panting slightly, which had nothing to do with the short jog towards him.

"Alpha. Please tell us you know what's going on here." Jason asked nervously.

Alpha looked at all of them and to their absolute horror, he lifted his hands to his head and gave it a little twist and a pull, taking off the head completely. But instead of wires and electrical boards. There was a real human head underneath it. A pretty female who looked to be in her late twenties. A perfectly normal woman, no sign of robotic life on her face.

"Oh Austin. Did you and Walter have one of your crazy parties again last night? A bit of a birthday celebration?" She giggled, jabbing Zack and Jason in the chest.

"Walter?" Zack asked with eyes wide with shock.

"Birthday?" Jason repeated.

"Geez. What did you drink? You guys need to sort yourselves out." The lady in alpha's body said, walking over towards one side where a table lay. The rangers followed her as if she was a pied piper.

"We didn't drink anything." Trini said, her face flushed and her body quivering.

"I would usually agree with you Thuy. But look at you, even you're trembling and sweating." The little lady picked up a water bottle and took a big swig before quickly looking back up at the five rangers. "No way, you didn't do drugs, did you?" her face twisting with apparent realisation.

The five friends face's filled with disgust at the accusation by the little woman in alpha's body.

"Look lady, we hardly drink and we certainly don't do drugs. We just-" Jason couldn't finish his sentence. He didn't know what to say.

"Look, Jason's coming. Have a quick word with him but hurry up. We're shooting again in a few minutes. Go over your scripts again too." She replied, pointing towards the nearby table on which the water was, along with some sheets of paper.

"Huh. But I'm Jason." The red ranger rebutted.

The little lady giggled and playfully smacked the confused red ranger on his arm. "Yes, we all know your real name is Jason. But you never use that name around here. Stop playing guys." She said, putting down the bottle and walking away back to the middle of the command centre.

"Guys, look, it's Tommy." Kimberly pointed out, walking briskly over to their friend who was here for some reason.

Kimberly looked around the room she was in. The command center looked so familiar yet it looked so bad too, like it had been torn apart. In front of them, towards the right of the room, the command center looked pretty good, pretty familiar. Apart from Zordon's tube, everything looked in place. But moving away from there, the command center was destroyed. It wasn't even the command center. It was like someone ripped a part of their old hideout and stuck a piece of it in some random room. And Tommy was walking around without a worry in the world, apparently content with what was happening.

"Hey Tommy. What's going on. Do you know what's happened here?" The pink ranger asked him.

Tommy gave Kimberly a slight smile and roared the most evil laugh they had ever heard, a laugh that sounded so familiar.

"Muahahaha. It was me, I'm the green ranger. I am what happened here. My empress Rita will be most pleased Muahahaha." And with that, Tommy stopped and smiled at the perplexed rangers. "Was that any good? Your lines weren't in the script Amy. Did they change them?" he asked Kimberly.

"Why does everyone keep calling me Amy!" She grumbled through gritted teeth.

"They've been partying hard, JDF." The little lady in alpha's costume shouted out.

Tommy, or Jason or JDF as he was being called, frowned and gave the rangers a disappointed stare. "Look guys, we're not far from midnight and I haven't seen my kid in over a day now. Let's just wrap this up quickly. Filming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers isn't as easy as I thought it would be." He looked around at the five people in front of him who just stared back at him with amazement.

"Please. I hope Sandi is blowing this out of proportion, I appreciate it was your birthday yesterday Austin and I don't want to be a Debbie downer, especially since I'm the rookie here, but let's hurry up, I just HAVE to see my Jacob today."

"Jacob? You've got a kid?" Kimberly asked.

"Man, how much did you drink. No wonder the scenes have taken so long. Come on guys. I know I'm new to the crew and all, but I thought we were all pretty close." Tommy smiled as he thought he saw a bit of guilt on everyone's faces. "Let's just hurry up and finish today's episode huh."

And with that, he walked away without another word.

As soon as he was a safe distance away, Billy grabbed his friends by the arms and turned them to face him.

"Guys, you do realise what's going on right?" He asked them all, a bit of excitement mingled with panic spreading over his face.

"Uh, obviously not." Kimberly replied.

"It's so evident. Why didn't I grasp this sooner." He lamented.

"What are you talking about Billy, spit it out." Zack said, looking around nervously at the many people going about their business as though this was a daily occurrence.

Billy steadied himself. "We've been transported to a different dimension." He said simply, looking over in the direction of the cameras. "In this dimension, it appears as though being a power ranger, is a movie, or more likely, a television show, from how Tommy kept saying the word, episode."

"What. No way." Jason shook his head and stared at everyone in disbelief. "That can't be possible."

"Well how do you explain this then." Billy pointed at the command center where Zordon's tube should be and moved his had around towards the back where the crew were putting away their drinks and sitting back down. "Where Zordon's tube is meant to be, there is a green screen. A green screen is for computerised images to be projected upon."

The blue ranger then indicated towards Tommy and alpha 5.

"They are a part of this world, this dimension. They're evidently not the Alpha 5 and Tommy we know. They're simply the actors playing them. And so are we. It looks like our names are just the character names. Our real names in this world are something else entirely."

"That can't be possible Billy." Trini said.

"Then how do you explain the costumes. The cameras and the director over there, sat in that awfully cliché directors chair." Billy said, indicating towards the back of the room.

The rangers didn't want to believe it. But they knew that Billy was onto something. It explained quite a few of their questions, left a few more, unanswered.

"What year is it? We look way too young to still be in the 2000s." Zack said

"Well, if our lives as rangers are depicted as a television show, I wager that we are now present in the nineties. That's when all of this was occurring." Billy lightly stroked his chin in contemplation, his steely blue eyes narrowed with concentration. "We became rangers in '93 and going by how this dimension's Tommy just behaved and the things he said, well that points to when Tommy first entered our lives as the green ranger. And that I believe, was in the fall of 1993."

"Makes sense. Thank God for you Billy." Jason said, smiling proudly at his friend who smiled back. "Do you guys still have your morphers?"

The rangers automatically checked their waist bands and felt their morphers attached to their belts or trousers. They all nodded their heads. Thankfully, at least something went right for them.

"Yeah, but how did we get here?" Kimberly asked the question that was on everyone's lips.

Billy screwed up his face in concentration once again. "Well, we have been transported to various dimensions previously. Either through powerful spells, or gateways being opened. It will most likely be the same this time. With what happened to the car. That wasn't normal."

"Then how the hell do we get back to our world?" Zack said.

Just before Billy could answer, the man called Shuki began to tap his watch.

"I think we should try our best to wrap this up. Then we can get away from here and put our heads down to figure everything out." Billy said, addressing his friends.

"You mean, try and act?" Trini asked, shocked by Billy's statement.

"Precisely."

"But we're not actors. What the hell do we do?" Jason asked.

"They don't know that." Billy looked over warily at the man called Shuki before walking over to the table on which the scripts were laid upon. "They believe that we are in fact actors. We should just try our best, read the lines that they have provided and repeat them. Then get out of here as quickly as possible and find out how to get back."

"It won't be easy." Trini commented as she picked up a script and scanned the pages.

"This is strange. These words look and sound very familiar." Jason said.

"Guys, this is exactly how we responded when the green ranger first ever showed up." Kimberly gasped in shock.

"Man, this is weird." Zack rubbed his forhead with his thumb and index finger. His mind unable to grasp what was going on.

The rangers spent the next five minutes scanning their words for scene twelve. It just felt so wrong that their real names were on here, yet everyone were calling them by some names that they had never even heard before. It was even weirder that whatever was on the script, had actually happened in their lives. The green ranger did trash the command center. The green ranger did join Rita repulsa and fight the power rangers. And all of this information was right here, on a sheet of paper?

It felt like seconds until the director called Robert asked the five of them to go into the middle of the command center.

The rangers didn't know where to stand, how to stand and what to do. Each of them was trying to stand in a natural position, something that they were majorly failing to do.

"I told you Shuki. We need to get some ground marks for these guys. That'll elimate them standing anywhere they want." The director Robert, addressed Shuki.

"Mr. Saban said that they'll just increase the budget. He thinks we can do without them." Shuki responded.

"But look at them. They look like they're on drugs or something."

Shuki looked over at the five, who were shuffling around, not knowing where to put their hands and looking rather pink-faced and exhausted.

"Maybe we need to get Haim to come and have a word with them?" the director asked.

"No, Robert! no way." Shuki replied, shaking his head. "Haim has enough going on without having to come here. They're good kids. Maybe they're just tired."

As they glanced over at the rangers, they witnessed Zack doing a kind of pirouette on the spot. The two men looked at each other with Robert giving shuki a look that plainly told him that what shuki thought was nonsense.

"Let's just get today over with and see what happens." Shuki said before turning to the rangers. "Right then guys. So back into the Radbug if you please. David in the drivers seat and Austin in the passenger seat. The rest of you can go into the back."

The rangers did as they were told. They took one last look at the script before putting them down and climbing back into the radbug.

A lady ran over and picked up the scripts they had just left on a command center control panel and briskly took them off the set.

The rangers tried as much as they could to remember the scene and what they had to say.

They got into their positions in the car and heard an assistant shout:

"Green with evil, episode 1, scene twelve, take two!"

Then Robert shouting, "And….. ACTION."

The rangers looked around and each other in the radbug, waiting for Trini to deliver the first line. Billy kept his hands on the steering wheel pretending to fly the the car. But he was moving way too much. As though he was constantly taking sharp turns.

"Alpha sounded upset." Trini shouted in panic from the back seat. A little too loudly into Jason's ear, who grimaced and fluffed his response.

"Yeah, I think something bad's going down." Jason was the opposite of Trini, muttering the words making them almost inaudible.

"I bet Rita is up to something." Kimberly said nonchalantly, staring at the windshield trying her best to deliver her line, finding it so odd to talk about Rita in front of so many civilians.

But she had barely finished her line when Zack blurted out his line, rather loudly, almost aggressively.

"Can't this thing go any faster Billy?"

Billy nervously glanced back at Zack. "Alright." He said and turned the steering with once again to the right.

"Cut!" Shouted the director.

"I think we did okay guys." Jason reassured his friends with a nod of his head as the director Robert sat up in his chair.

"You do realise guys, you're inside a flying car. And not only that, you can't get in touch with Zordon and Alpha. You have no idea what's going on. You're taking a flying car to get to the command center to see what's going on with your mentor. So why are you all so calm about it?"

He definitely had a point.

"When David turns the steering wheel. You need to act like you're in a roller coaster or something. I'm guessing a flying car won't exactly be calming will it."

"But we're already in the command center. The car is on the ground."

"Oh, I'm sorry Walter." The director said to Zack before turning to look at Shuki. "Let Mr. Saban know that we need to get a flying car for Walter. In the meantime, can we ACT as though we are in a flying car, please."

The rangers definitely knew that the director was right. They just didn't know how to do it. They didn't have any experience in acting. Any of them.

"And Thuy, try not to shout. The people you're talking to are IN the car with you. Right. Let's start again. Stay in the car, I'm happy with the positions."

"Green with evil, episode 1, scene twelve, take three!"

"And… action!"

The director repeatedly cut the scene and started again. Naming the many things that the rangers were doing wrong. Again and again, he wasn't happy with something and the rangers knew they were performing badly. But they were intent on getting it right. They simply had to.

"Green with evil, episode 1, scene twelve, take fourteen."

Trini looked around at her friends faces, trying her best to show a moderately worried expression. "Alpha sounded upset." She said with a gasp and a frown.

Jason ran his fingers through his hair. "Yeah, I think something bad's going down."

Kimberly looked at Jason as though he just revealed that the world would be ending in the next minute.

"I bet Rita is up to something!" she shouted, half angry, half upset.

Zack looked over at Billy in the drivers seat with immense sorrow and trepidation. "Can't this thing go any faster Billy?"

"Alright." Billy said, once again twisting the steering wheel to the right.

The rangers let out a collective scream, pretending they were on a roller coaster, just as the director had said, trying their best to nail it. They waited anxiously to hear from him.

"Three seconds until they land back into the command center. Three, two, one." The assistant counted down to their surprise. "Landed."

Phew. They could move on.

The rangers tried to remember the next scene, thankfully they nailed the first scene. But having put all of their effort into it, they were struggling to remember the next lines.

"Green with evil, episode 1, scene thirteen, take one!

"Action!"

The rangers all looked around at each other nervously.

"We need to get out of the car remember and react to the command center being destroyed." Jason said.

"Cut!" The director shouted. "Why are you talking to each other? We're rolling! Actually, carry on. We'll just edit that part out. Action!"

The rangers clambered out of the radbug. It wasn't easy, the radbug felt like a broken-down car, put together by people that were certainly not mechanics.

Jason led the group out of the car to stare at the command center in horror. They knew they needed to act worried and scared. That bit wasn't too difficult…. They WERE scared and worried.

"Look at this place!" Jason bemoaned, walking away from the car and towards the command center.

"The control panels have been ripped out!" Trini bemoaned.

"Aw, man, this place is totaled." Zack said, trying his absolute best to remember his lines.

"Look." Kimberly said, pointing over at the tube where Zordon was meant to be. "You guys Zordon's gone!"

Billy glanced back at Jason and led the team further into the command center and towards alpha 5. As soon as they reached the robot, Billy continued with his next line.

"Alpha, what happened?" He asked in a concerned voice.

There was no reply. The lady in the suit was flailing her arms around and acting as though the robot was malfunctioning. But she didn't say a word.

Zack was supposed to say the next words but he couldn't deliver them before Alpha's response.

"Walter! You're next. Go!" The director shouted.

"But I can't say anything without Alpha's reply." Zack said, shuddering at being called Walter.

The director threw a clipboard down to the floor with a slam. "Are you fucking kidding me? You know that Richard Horvitz voices Alpha and we pipe in his replies during post-production. What the hell is wrong with you!" he shouted.

"You know, we're trying our best here, Mister. There's no need to speak to us like that." Jason said, staring at the director. He did not take kindly to his friends being spoken to with disrespect.

"Trying your best? You're acting like absolute amateurs. And you have the nerve to ask for a raise? Continue acting like this and you'll be getting a reduction my friend."

Jason glowered at Richard, ready for a scathing response.

"Look guys. It's getting late and we're all tired." Shuki said, standing up from his chair. "I think we should all go home and get some rest and start again in the morning. We've got enough material for now and we can easily just start at scene thirteen in the morning. So come on guys. Get packing and let's go get some rest huh?"

The crew immediately began to pack away and clean up as though this was the moment they had been looking forward to the most. Whilst the director and Shuki exited through a door at the back of the room and out of sight.

The rangers stared at each other, a harrowing realisation hitting them in the face like a punch from a heavyweight boxer.

They were happy to pack up , as Shuki said and go home. But the problem was, where was home? Did they all have separate apartments? How would they get there? The rangers continued to stare at each other. They did not have to speak, for each of them were thinking the same thing. The same austere thought running through their mind. They stood there, almost in shock for a period of time, that none of them could pinpoint the length of. It was like being stuck in a nightmare.

"I'm guessing you guys got a cab today huh?" The lady who previously wore Alpha's, for want of a better term, costume, was now wearing normal everyday clothes and was walking towards them. "I'm guessing Walter didn't feel safe driving?"

Zack eyed the lady for a second, his brain processing what she just said and hastily responded. "Yeah. That's right."

The lady's lips curved into a slight smile. "I guess you guys ARE power rangers huh. Good on you for realising you can't drink drive and put others at risk."

Kimberly looked down at her clothes. Stonewashed jeans, a short sleeved pink t shirt, and she wondered. Were they all wearing costumes? The clothing choices were pretty similar to what she would wear, especially back in the '90s.

"Are they going to take our costumes?" Kimberly asked the small lady.

"Costumes? You mean your ranger ones? Well yeah….they're back in the prop room, you rarely ever wear them."

"What about the ones I'm wearing? Kimberly said, attempting to clear up the mistake.

But instead of looking enlightened, Sandi let out a short giggle. "Have you all turned into jokers today? Next time you have a party, make sure you invite me too."

"What do you mean?" A confused Jason said over Sandi's giggles.

"Well, you're more than aware that you just wear your normal clothes to do the filming. They won't buy you clothes for your characters because of the lack of funds. You've tried to get them to buy you costumes but I see you've given up huh? So now you just keep taking digs at these crappy situations instead? It's hilarious, don't stop." She finished with another laugh.

"But-"

Billy cut off Kimberly who was about to argue back. "Yeah, we had quite a lot to drink last night. We will definitely invite you over next time."

"Why, thank you David." Sandi replied, clapping the blue rangers's shoulder. "So, yeah, you took a cab today then?"

The rangers did not respond. They just glanced around at each other nervously, not able to form the words required right now.

Perhaps this little lady felt sorry for them, maybe she took pity or maybe she thought it best that they get home as quickly as possible. "Hey, JDF, come here will ya."

She had shouted at the actor playing Tommy, he heard her and came jogging over to them. "Hey Sandi. What's up?"

Was JDF his nickname…

"Jason, you have a seven seater, don't you?"

Tommy nodded his head.

"You don't mind dropping these guys off do you? They didn't bring their car today and well, we hardly get paid decent money." She said.

JDF rolled his eyes. "I know right. The pay is on par with what mcdonald's gave me. And you guys get even less don't you?"

Sandi nodded her head sadly. "Especially this lot. Thuy and Austin get peanuts since they're so young."

"Man, that sucks. Well, come on guys. Let's get going. Your place isn't that far away from mine." JDF said, whipping out his keys.

The rangers bade farewell to Sandi who was a lifesaver for them at this point and followed Tommy. They looked back to glance at the command center but as they did so, someone turned off the lights and all they could see was darkness. They carried on following this world's Tommy to the back of the set and exited into a hallway where they collected their things from underneath a bunch of hooks with their names on written on a tiny piece of paper. This world's names of course.

It was such an odd, surreal experience for them. Collecting clothes and bags that they didn't remember buying, but items that they would definitely choose. Seeing people and places that looked so familiar yet seemed so distant. After everything that they had seen as power rangers, this was just a bit too much to handle.

They left the hallway and through a door leading to a parking lot. They couldn't wait to get to somewhere private, away from prying eyes and put their heads together to sort this situation out.

"Right, guys. Pop in." JDF said to the rangers who did as he said and climbed into his old and battered Volvo 240 estate. They let Kimberly and Trini into the back seats, followed by Billy and Zack in the middle seats with Jason joining the other Jason at the front.

"I'm so excited to be joining you guys you know. I can't believe how huge power rangers is becoming." JDF said as he drove out of the small parking lot and into a city that looked so familiar.

"It looks so much like Angel Grove." Zack said.

"Yeah, I believe Angel Grove was based on LA. It makes sense since they film here anyway." JDF replied.

Zack was about to ask what LA was until he thought better of it. No need to make himself look more of a fool.

"It must be really difficult for you and Amy, right?" JDF said to Jason who furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.

"What do you mean?"

"Well," JDF glanced over his shoulder at Kimberly who was busy talking to Trini and looking out of the windows. "They're saying that if Tommy is a hit with the fans, they're going to pair him up with Kimberly. I mean, I promise you that if that does happen, it will always stay professional. I've got my girl and I plan on putting a ring on her finger at some point. So, I don't want you to worry about that."

Jason found this very odd indeed. Kimberly dated Tommy back in the day before she ever dated him. But in this world, apparently, she was never Tommy's in the first place. She was seemingly dating him, Jason or Austin or whatever his name was in this world.

JDF took Jason's silence as anger because he quickly spoke up again. "I mean, if you want, I can talk to Haim and tell him that I don't think it's a good idea. And well, you never know. Fans may hate me and I may never come back on the show so they'll probably just pair Kimberly back with Jason anyway." He kept his eyes on the road but you could tell he was nervous.

"You know what. It's cool. Don't worry about it. Me and Kim, I mean Amy, will always love each other so I don't need to worry about anything." Jason glanced up at JDF's face, which was quite surprised. "It's just a TV show right?"

"Ummm, Yeah. It's just a TV show." JDF said, his face looking rather pink. "I didn't know you were so serious though. I thought you two just had a little thing going on."

Jason grimaced and looked over at a face he recognised so well but a face that seemed so different too. "What do you mean?"

"I mean." JDF lowered his voice. "That the talk around the set is that you two are just, you know, incapable of keeping your hands off of each other."

Jason smiled, he was glad that even in this world, he was still close to Kimberly. "No, its more than that. But keep it between us will you?"

JDF looked very surprised but immediately nodded his head.

Jason couldn't help but laying that seed in his head. It gave him immense satisfaction to know that he could say this and ensure everyone knew that his girl was off limits. He hated himself a little for it, but she was going to marry him after all.

It wasn't long until they pulled over outside a shabby looking two-story house in a dark street crowded with similar houses and apartments. It didn't look like a place where actors lived.

"There you go guys. Just do me a favour." JDF looked around at the people in his car. "Don't party tonight and let's turn up early for work tomorrow and show em what we're made of." He said encouragingly.

The rangers nodded their heads and with a bit of effort, exited the vehicle and bade farewell to the stranger that was so familiar to them.

"How will we get in?" Zack asked the pressing question.

Billy dipped his hands into a coat pocket that seemed very familiar to him and pulled out a pair of keys. The rest of the rangers did the same and found the same success.

"So judging by the same keys, i guess that we live together?" Jason said.

"That's pretty neat." Trini responded with a smile.

"One of these must be a key to the house right?" Billy said pointing at the keys in his hand and then at the ones that everyone was holding.

The rangers walked up to the battered and beaten wooden front door and Billy peered into the keyhole.

"I deduce that we are looking for an old silver key that matches the lock." He said, fiddling about with the keys in his hand and frequently glancing back up to the keys in his friend's hand to find a matching key. It wasn't long before he pulled out a key that he had described. "Well, here goes." He pushed the flat, silvery key into the yale lock and as he turned, there was a click and Billy pushed open the front door with success.

"Way to go Billy." Trini screamed in delight, hugging her friend and following his lead into the house.

As soon as the rangers entered, they were faced with a living room that had seen better days. It was quite small compared to most other houses and had only two couches in front of a small, wooden television set that was more than retro with black wooden paneling. It was no larger than fifteen inches and sat upon a simple VCR. Next to that, in the corner of of the room was a little table upon which sat a telephone, long curly cords dangling around its white base.

The walls were plastered with a traditional 80s style floral wallpaper with humongous borders at the top towards the ceiling and the corners.

Kimberly looked at her feet and her eyes found the well-used jacobean wilton carpet which made her frown. "As actors, I thought we would have a decent place."

"Yeah, but you heard Tommy. I mean, what's his name?" Jason looked around expectantly.

"I'm not calling him Jason!" Kimberly said crossly.

"JDF I think." Trini said.

"What the hell does JDF even stand for?" Zack asked, edging into the room and pushing his fingers into the couches.

"I assume those are his initials. His name here is Jason. So D and F must be his middle and surnames." Billy answered, traipsing over to the TV in order to inspect it.

"Well, he did say that the wage is similar to mcdonald's. So we obviously aren't big actors yet." Jason surmised.

"Yeah and that explains why we live together. Save money." Trini responded warily.

"This place is hideous. Are you sure we're not in the '80s?" Kimberly asked, looking around at the walls and the carpet.

"I can't be one hundred percent sure, but I am pretty confident we're in the '90s. Maybe this will help." Billy said, pointing to a newspaper perched on a small coffee table in between the sofas and the television.

Billy rushed forwards and took the paper into his hands and quickly moved his eyes to the date at the top. "September 14th 1993. But the paper does seem a few days old."

"Wow. Is this really happening? We're back in 1993!" Kimberly exclaimed.

"Guys, the couches aren't too bad yano. They're pretty soft." Zack said, jumping down into one. The couch let out a ominous noise that sounded as though the springs were about to explode.

"Yeah, but maybe it's a good idea we don't jump on them babe." Trini told her husband.

The rangers went off together to explore the rest of the house. It wasn't too difficult as there was only a kitchen on the ground floor to go along with the living room. There was no attic or basement so there was just one other floor which contained a bathroom and two bedrooms along with a very small box room. The carpet and wallpaper was very similar to the ground floor. Except the bathroom.

"At least Amy has my sense of toiletries." Kimberly said, putting down a bottle of shampoo. "And my favourite choice of colour."

She wasn't wrong. The bathroom was decorated completely pink, with the expected wallpaper trim and floral, vinyl flooring. It smelled of floral scented candles, sweet vanilla body scrubs, and a slight hint of men's citrusy shower gel.

The house may be old, worn out and about to crumble, but their counterparts in this world definitely kept the house as clean as they could.

One of the bedrooms was pristine, which evidently belonged to the girls since it was laden with pink bedding, teddy bears, makeup and shoes. The other bedroom was slightly cluttered, not as bright as the other room, but not too bad.

The rangers made their way back downstairs once they had seen enough of their home and settled into the couches to try and figure out what they were going to do.

"So what do we know so far?" Billy asked.

"We've been sent into a different dimension. Or an alternate reality." Jason answered.

"Way back to the early nineties." Kimberly added.

"The radbug and or Jason and Kim's car is likely the culprit." Trini chimed in.

"But we're still no closer to getting back to our world." Zack groaned.

"But at least we kinda know what's going on. And if we find out how we got here, we will most definitely find a way back to our reality." Billy replied.

The rest of the group nodded in agreement, though they wanted to think of ideas, they were rather content to just sit there right now.

Zack sighed and stood up. "Maybe we'll feel a little better if we have something in our bellies. When was the last time we ate?"

"Back at your place, how long ago was that?" Kimberly asked.

Billy shook his head. "It's impossible to say, who knows how time works when passing between alternate universes."

"But you're all hungry right?" Zack asked.

The response was similar, as everyone nodded their heads.

Zack spun on his heel and practically ran to the kitchen, opened the fridge door, to find it nearly bare. There were a few things in it like a few pieces of fruit, a couple of pots of strawberry yogurt, some doughnuts, but nothing substantial to eat or to cook.

The black ranger dashed back into the living room to share the bad news. The rangers were quite disappointed.

"How about we get a delivery?" Billy shared.

"Yeah, we could do. Do you think we have enough money? It really doesn't sound like we get paid well." Trini said truthfully.

All of the rangers immediately checked their coat pockets and found their wallets and coin purses.

They didn't have much, around thirty dollars between them. That saddening thought didn't last long because each of them found some ID cards which were even more surprising, and a source of entertainment.

"I mean Walter? Seriously? Walter Emanuel Jones? I sound like a pornstar!" Zack exclaimed, disbelief obvious in his tone.

"My birthday is October the 6th…..1970! In this world, I play myself on TV and I'm seven years older? Ewww!" Kimberly shrieked.

"Well I was born in September 1974! So I'm younger than you." Jason smiled at Kimberly but she looked horrified so he quickly changed the subject. "My actual real name is Jason Lawrence Geiger. I mean, at least my first name is still the same!" Jason said.

"Yeah, but you choose to be called Austin." Zack said with a laugh.

"Dude, at least I don't sound like a pornstar." Jason quipped, halting his friend's laughter and immediately shutting him up.

"Babe, Amy's star sign is a Libra, just like you. At least there's one positive in this." Kimberly said, already leaning into the fiancé, she leaned further into him and kissed his cheek.

"And you're not the eldest either Kimberly. David here was born in 1969." Billy said, a bemused smirk on his face, staring at his driving license.

"I'm pretty young guys. I'm a '73' baby." Trini said, smiling at Jason. "We're the two youngest."

"Okay, don't show off." Zack said, wrapping an arm around his wife's shoulders. "What's your name in this world baby?"

Trini stared at her learner's permit and brought it up closer to her face. "Thuy Trang. That's not too bad. At least it's Vietnamese."

"Yeah, seems like you got the best deal." Zack said, picking up the newspaper that Billy had thrown onto the coffee table once more. He was starving and so were the rest of them.

Zack searched for restaurants to find somewhere good for a delivery. He didn't find anything in uber newspaper but was handed a yellow pages by Billy and was finally successful in finding a place that was still open since it was the early hours of the morning. They had to leave the guy on the phone hanging for a few moments as they realised they didn't know the address. They rushed outside to find the address and came back to a slightly grumpy order taker. But after many apologies, the food was ordered, delivered and eaten in no time.

It felt so surreal to be back in the days of no Internet and no cell phones. Yet they were here, younger, a second chance at life in a way. Though nobody mentioned that fact.

They spent the next hour or so trying to come up with a way back to 2003, but found no luck whatsoever.

"I mean, we have zero knowledge on what it takes to get back since we don't know how we got here in the first place." Billy stated solemnly.

"Couldn't you construct a device that would get us back to our world though?" Trini asked the blue ranger.

"I couldn't categorically deny that possibility, however, without my lab, it would make the venture much more formidable."

The rangers stared alarmingly at their old friend, and he took notice.

"What's the matter guys?" He asked innocently.

"Well, to be totally honest my main brain, we haven't heard you talk like that in years." Zack said.

Billy's eyebrows relaxed and realisation hit him like a train wreck. "Oh shoot. I did not even realise how I was stating my opinions. Damn, again. I'm sorry guys." Billy put up his hand to apologise. "I'm sure it's just one of those things. Being back in this timeline, looking the way I look again and the way I feel, I must have slipped back into my old habits." He explained.

"You don't need to apologise billy." Jason waved off his friend's apology with a shake of his head and a smile. "We need to just try and get back as quickly as we can and everything will be right in the world."

But even as he said this, his eyes felt heavy. And he wasn't the only one. Every single ranger felt tired, sleepy and sore. They couldn't even remember when they last caught some sleep. The worn out, slightly dusty clock on the wall opposite to the television showed that it was now, way past 2am.

"What are we going to do about work tomorrow?" Kimberly asked, reading everyone's mind.

"We'll have to go, won't we?" Jason replied.

"No, we can't bro." Zack responded, giving his friend a very serious look. "We were terrible today, do you think we can pull off a whole day's worth of acting when we couldn't even manage an hour of it?"

"Cmon bro. How many times have we watched back to the future? We can't mess with these things." Jason argued.

"Nah man, this is different. I mean, it's not time travel, is it? And it's just us Jase. We're us, there's no other Zack Taylor here apart from me. And the same goes for the rest of us." Zack turned to Billy. "I'm right aren't I Billy?"

The blue ranger scratched his chin and sighed a little. "I guess you are both correct. But I must admit, I concur more with Jason." Billy grimaced slightly and continued. "Though I do agree that we havent time traveled, we have simply entered an alternate reality. We won't know how much damage we cause by not playing our roles, so to say."

"So you think we should go back to that place tomorrow? Kimberly asked.

"Unfortunately, yes Kimberly. Maybe we could convince them that we're all seriously ill, hence why our acting skills are not up to scratch, they may allow us to take some time off. But also." He stuck out a finger to allow everyone to let him continue. "By spending more time outside this house, we could learn more about this universe and by learning more about this universe, we could find out a means to get back to our world."

"It's a long shot, Billy." Trini murmured.

"I know Trini. But we have to learn more so I can gather knowledge in order to potentially build a device that would send us back. And not harm ourselves in this world in the process."

"Right, well its late. So, we should probably get some shut eye."

Jason's words were easier said than done.

The two bedrooms were separated by gender. The problem was, two of the group were married, and two of them were engaged to be married. They found it very difficult part ways, and honestly, they didn't want to.

Kimberly didn't want to spend the night without Jason, and Trini didn't want to be without Zack and they both collectively didn't want Billy to be out of their sight.

It wasn't the best idea, nor the most comfortable. But they decided to stick together in case anything happened. The girls got changed and moved into the boy's bedroom. The girls slept next to their partners and Billy just a bed away from their eyesight.

Kimberly complained how it "smelled like guys." Jason noting how her germophobia was in full swing again, but it wasn't long before they were all fast asleep. The time seemed to fly by and Billy's retro alarm clock starting ringing at 6am, allowing them a short few hours of sleep.

The rangers had two hours to get ready and get to the place where filming was taking place. Bathing and getting dressed was easy, finding out where they were supposed to be working was much more difficult.

After much panic and running around, Trini found a list of numbers next to the home telephone. They cautiously called the woman playing Alpha 5 who found it funny when they asked her where the studio was. She told them it wasn't a studio but a 'dump where they film the command center scenes'. Not exactly motivating, but at least they now knew.

The rangers found it best to call a cab and get there because they had no idea where it was, so trying to drive there would be hectic. Something they did not need right now.

So, the cab came, in no time at all. They left their strange yet weirdly comforting house and entered a large, 7-seater cab. The cab driver got to know who they were after a nice little conversation. He wasn't overly excited but he did mention how happy his children would be when he told them that he had driven the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to work this morning. It was so, so strange to be known as power rangers. Here it was a TV show but back where they came from, they were sworn to secrecy by Zordon, never to let anyone know the true identity of the power rangers. They had stuck by that rule all their lives and now here, it was a topic that was akin to talking about weather.

Like last night, their journey was rather short. The rangers scrummaged around and collected their remaining cash together, paid the slightly confused cab driver (who, was no doubt, expecting a big tip since his latest customers were actors) and walked over to the familiar building from last night.

Billy checked his watch and noted that it was a few minutes before 8am. They made it. They were on time and they were ready to go. If their performances were not good enough, they had a ready-made excuse.

They all had food poisoning. Each one of them were sick and they probably needed a few days off to recover. The rangers were sure that would work. The plan was, to get through the episode they were currently shooting, then inform either Robert or Shuki about their illness. That would allow them to be free. It may save their counterparts here in this world and probably enable them to have a few days off work too. Then they could really knuckle down and try to get back to their own world.

"Aaaah, here you are, bright and early."

As if right there on time, by no accident, the bearded man from last night came out from the front door, clutching a large mug of coffee in his hand, he slicked back his oiled hair with his other hand and walked over to the rangers. "You look better than last night too. Did you get some sleep?"

"Yes sir, we did." Jason responded. "We definitely needed that sleep too."

Shuki nodded his head as though he was one of those bobble head toys from the back of a car. "I figured as much. I have a lot of faith in you kids, ya know that right?"

"Yes sir, we do." Jason replied, feeling slightly nervous, he glanced around at his friends for a confidence boost. "Thank you for your support, Mr. Levy."

"No need to mention it kid." Shuki gave all the rangers a quick look (noting their attires) before turning back to the entrance to the building. The group had searched their cupboards for the nicest things they could find, but unfortunately, there wasn't much choice. They just made do with what ever clean clothes were available

"Grab yourselves some coffee, have a quick smoke and we'll get started on the next scene. Let's show Robert what you're made of today." Shuki said before disappearing into the building.

"Smoke? None of us smoke." Zack said in surprise and irritation.

Billy slid his hand to the inside breast pocket of his blue, bomber jacket and took out a little box. "It appears as though David does in fact, smoke." He stated with a wry smile, putting away the box of cigarettes. "It's so strange because I have a very strong urge to put one in my mouth."

"Damn. Imagine Billy smoking! Dude, you'd be on your ass." Zack said through muffled yelps of laughter.

"I must disagree with you on that one Zachary. This world's Billy, or David, is obviously a smoker, so my nicotine threshold is guaranteed to be higher."

"Shall we test it?" Zack asked a smirking Billy.

"Come on guys, let's mess around another time." Jason spoke up, his face showing no sign of humour. "We should get inside and memorise our lines. We need to get this over and done with and focus on getting our asses back to our world."

"You're right Jase. Let's get inside guys and deal with this whole acting thing." Zack responded as he took his wife's hand into his and led them into the building.

Kimberly reached out and pulled back Jason by his hand before he could follow his friends inside, leaving just herself and her fiancé outside the door.

"Is everything okay babe? That was a bit harsh." She asked him.

"Yeah, everything's fine."

Kimberly pursed her lips and raised her eyebrows, obviously not buying whatever Jason was selling.

Jason smiled a little and shook his head. "There's no point hiding anything from you, is there?"

"Nope."

"Okay, I'm cool Kim, I'm just obviously a little worried. There's no way back to our world and God knows what's going on with us here. We have no idea how this is affecting us."

"And?"

Jason smiled again. "Hold your horses, don't worry. I'm telling ya."

Kimberly smiled back, though she stayed quiet, imploring him to go on.

"Well, are you even pregnant? It's just that, not once have you been nauseous and your tummy is so flat. Like… too flat, ya know."

Kimberly bit her lip. "I have been wondering the same thing…. I-I don't… I dunno, I just don't feel pregnant anymore. I just, I don't know."

This thing was eating away at the both of them since they cuddled up in bed last night. But they didn't dare say anything. Not then anyway.

In their own world, Kimberly was in the early stages of pregnancy and though her tummy wasn't exactly sticking out, you could feel a very small, tiny little bump there. When Jason put his arm around her last night in this alternate universe, he couldn't feel that little bump. Kimberly could feel something was off but with so much going on, neither of them had the chance to speak about it.

It was now Jason's turn to be comforter. He moved closer to Kimberly and wrapped an arm around her shoulder, pulling her in closer to him.

"We'll figure it out. I'm sure Billy will have an answer for us." He told her confidently, a confidence which he genuinely had. "All our bodies have changed, we look and feel younger, so maybe we literally are teenagers again and well, we were different at this age, weren't we? But everything should just go back to normal when we get back to our world."

Kimberly nodded her head in agreement. "Yeah, you're right." She nestled her head under his chin, slightly confident that they were on the right track.

"Exactly. And I'll be here with you this whole time, I'm not going to let anything happen to you."

Kimberly's confidence took a big swing upwards, she felt as though her breathing had become restricted ever since they landed in this weird new world, but now, Jason had opened access her lungs, allowing her to breathe freely again. She removed her head from under Jason's chin and looked up into his comforting dark brown eyes, she didn't hesitate and went onto her tiptoes to place her lips onto his.

"Wehey, look at you two!"

Their first kiss since they had been unceremoniously ousted out of their world and dumped into a new one, had been interrupted. Could they not find a bit of peace? They unwillingly broke apart and turned around to see the lady who played alpha 5, beaming at them both.

"I knew there was something more going on with you two!" Sandi said, taking a big swig of coffee from a flask in her hand. "I mean, it ain't the biggest secret in the world, but I knew there was more to it than what the rumours were saying."

"What were the rumours saying?" Kimberly asked her, quite offended.

"Well, ya know, you two going around having a whole lotta fun." Sandi replied, gingerly smiling at them both. "Ever since Shuki caught you both behind the school building, well, rumours haven't stopped." Sandi said, laughing at their horrified expressions.

"Well, we have to get inside, you know, to umm, take a look at our scripts." Jason replied.

"Yeah, go for it. I'll join you soon, I'm still adjusting to these early starts. Believe it or not."

Jason and Kimberly didn't reply but ran inside as quickly as they could. They scanned the backstage area and found their four friends at the far end of the shabby hallway. They quickly looked at each other, telepathically agreeing to never reveal what they just heard, and traipsed off to join them, weaving in and out of various objects like furniture, bags and Jason swore that he saw what looked like one the Juice bars old chairs.

"Don't we have a private room or anything?" Jason quickly asked, so to avoid any questions directed at themselves.

"I don't believe so Jason, it appears as though there's not many luxuries for us here." Billy answered, handing Jason and Kimberly the script. "But come on, that place from yesterday seems quiet." He pointed over at the dark corner close to the set that the rangers used yesterday to be able to talk more privately, and began to lead them there.

"We must be absolute newbies in the world of acting." Trini added, following Billy.

"Our show probably sucks." Zack said.

"It can't be that bad. The cab drivers' kids know about our show, right?" Billy asked.

"Yeah, seems like we're just new to acting, this is probably our first major gig." Jason replied.

"Precisely." Billy said, putting down his script on a table and picking up a polystyrene cup. "There's some coffee back there if you're interested." He told Kimberly and Jason. "It's not very good, and there's nothing else, but I guess it's better than nothing."

"I'll be okay. This scene shouldn't be too difficult right? We've got a few words to say then it's this pre-recorded fight scene, a few more words and then that's it for this episode." Jason said, scanning the sheet of paper in his hand.

"Yeah, seems easy enough. You know, I think I'm beginning to get a hand of this acting gig. I wouldn't mind trying out the next episode either man." Zack said.

"Hold your horses, Zack. We don't know how this scene is going to go, and we really should tell Shuki after this scene that we're sick and need to go home. Getting back to our world is our priority. Isn't it?" Billy asked him.

"Yeah, you're right Billy. I was just getting caught up in the moment."

"Zack has always wanted to be famous, haven't you?" Trini said smiling at her husband.

Their moment of short-lived happiness was disrupted by a loud bang and a flash of golden light.

The rangers whipped their heads around to the source of the noise to see a figure that they didn't expect to see right now.

"I'm guessing this wasn't a part of the script?" Zack said, glaring at something that was walking towards them.

"She can't be real!" Jason gasped, staring at the brilliant, gold armour that encapsulated a tall, beautiful lady.

"Unfortunately for you, I am real. It's time to end this once and for all you annoying power rangers."

Scorpina stood in front of the rangers, her dagger gripped in her hand, raised, ready for a fight.

To be continued…..
