It occurs in the first season, some scenes occur in the first and second episodes, I just added it as I wanted it to happen if I had more linstead.
A few days went by and Erin and Jay were already a little more friends, Jay thought. He wasn't interested in a serious relationship right now with Erin introducing him to some friends. Maybe deep down he still hoped he could go out with Erin.
Jay enters the break room seeing Erin helping himself to coffee and makes a comment about a magazine he read about how bad coffee was. She responded by saying that it was at the bottom of the list of things she cared about. And it seems to him as well since they held out their hand with a cup begging for coffee. Erin says that friend Kaitlyn of some days asked for him and she realized that he was not interested telling him that he did not recognize a good match when he saw it.
He thought that maybe the good thing he saw he couldn't have because he had to be professional. The next day Jay saw Erin when he entered, it was very difficult to have to work with the most beautiful woman he has ever seen and not be able to have her.
In the car he decided to speak. Erin wasn't in the mood for a conversation, but she listened to him. First he said that she always drove and yes he had been bothered with it since the first day and he was even more so when she never spoke about it making it clear that she was the one who drove, but he was tired and felt like a homeowner. Erin scoffed, that was how they always communicated with games. Another thing that still intrigued Jay was the relationship he saw from Erin with Voight during that first month, besides the professionalism Hank was very serious and he didn't know what could happen if he and Erin tried, he didn't even know if Erin felt anything to more, he thought if the boss and the partner were relatives, lovers or something but he would only know if he asked Erin directly and when he did Erin sneered again saying that he had gone to the ball with him.
As they got out of the car he decided to play a little to see how Erin would react to some flirting and that's when he asked if he would have to ask Hank for permission to go out with her (as much as he didn't know the relationship between them, Hank seemed very much a super protective father with Erin). The answer was that if a guy had to ask permission he shouldn't even bother. It made Jay realize that she was independent and that he admired her a lot.
That's when an idiot hit Erin, she didn't care anymore Jay didn't like it when men kept hitting on women just because they were walking down the street and then he handed Erin his badge and gun and hit the guy.
"My hero" said Erin sarcastically and said he would not be driving yet.
Erin was very focused on work, a good detective and very detailed, which he can say when he remembered Pulpo's case the day before that she noticed the blood on his leg saving them both from being beheaded. He thought and laughed to himself.
Jay was a good detective too, always attentive to work, never late and had Erin's back always, the tone of how he acted and the army's experiences helped in all cases he knew to be the good cop and the bad cop when needed.
That night when they were at Molly's Burgess he asked Jay about the army, he tried to disguise it but Erin already knew him well enough to realize that he had been annoyed.
Incredible how in a short time the two already had a connection, even if they didn't admit it, Erin mostly, but there was something between them, something more than anyone else had felt personally and professionally for other people.
Erin was close to Julie and during one case she saw her friend die, in her arms on the way to the hospital. In addition to Julie's death, this week was being difficult with the kidnapping of Diego, Antonio's son. It was difficult for Erin and Jay didn't know how to act, it was difficult for him too but Erin was friends with Willhite and Antônio was like a brother to them.
During the search for informants Jay finds out about Erin's past, so she didn't talk about the past, drugs, thefts, she was so new in this photo, nor did she look like the Erin he knew, Voight's informant? so the proximity to Erin? Who was he to her? Did he make you? Did he threaten you? Many questions came to Jay's head he was confused.
During the mapping of where they would meet the kidnapper he said he saw that she was Voight's informant asking if he had threatened, offended Erin replied that she had volunteered for Hank to save her life and got in the car.
Jay ended up alone when Erin said they had to go, he got in the car, Erin was silent and still upset when he started driving, Jay knew he was in bad shape, but it wasn't his intention."Erin ..." He looked at her "sorry for what I said, it wasn't my intention to offend you or anything. I just want you to know that I ..." He was interrupted.
"Okay, Jay" Erin said looking at him accepting his apologies, sincerely, but still a little upset.
Jay continued "No, it's not okay, Erin, I don't want you to think that I jump to conclusions, because I didn't, and I don't want to force you to say anything you don't want to, you're my partner and I know that I can trust you and I want you to feel the same way "Jay said and looked towards the street a little nervous because he said too much.
Before Erin answered they arrived on the scene. Before they came down she held Jay's arm "Hey, apologies accepted and I know I can trust you" she smiled a little shy it was their first discussion and they solved it well and let's say they even got a little closer. They got out of the car and went to work.
During the rescue of Diego
After Erin saved Diego she was very nervous, after all it was the life of Antonio's son in her hands. Jay realized but she was with Voight and preferred not to get involved, but that didn't mean he wasn't worried about her. Before she got in the car and went home, Jay surrendered her. "Okay?"
"Yes" she replied looking at him.
"Great job today" he put his hand on her shoulder giving her some comfort and said goodbye.
"Good night" she said getting into the car, still with the warmth of his hand on her shoulder thinking about what had just happened. It's on your mind, Erin, he's your partner. I was just worried about you. She thought. And he went home.
The next day after the homage to Julie Willhite, Hank summoned them in the garage and gave a speech and said that they were family. Erin and Jay exchanged glances, they were a family, again only with glances they confirmed, we are partners we have each other's backs always.
