(Five Years Later)
(Ju-Long's Point of View)

It has been about five years since I arrived in this new world. I am about Nine Years Old now, and according to my parents, I am a prodigy in both Chi-Blocking and Fire Bending.

I ducked under a fire ball that was shot in my direction by my Father. I quickly retaliated by doing a fire whip aiming to take out his lead foot, but he jumped over it with a flaming jump. I absorbed the Fire, adding it to my Chi-Pool before I let out a hellish volley of Dragon Fire out of my mouth that was blue in color. It was insanely hot.

Father blew a jet of flames out of both of his fists to match my own fire breath. His flames were yellow in color.

The Fire splashed between us, stopping in the middle between the two of us.

Mother gave a sharp whistle that froze both my Father and myself.

I have been home schooled for the sum of my life, and being home schooled was illegal.

They did not want me to be shipped out to the Captial City, where most fire benders are sent, and then they go to the military school, and after that, they are drafted into the war.

We do not have many neighbors on our island, nor do we have many visitors.

My parents and I tried to keep me hidden, though I knew that I would have to leave sooner or later. Though for now, I enjoy having a family that loves and cares for me. I had an intense training routine, though I had not seen any dragons, at least not yet.

Father and I ran into the house, and he slid the table, opening up a trap door. I jumped down and landed in a crouch, then rolled, stopping on my feet. I lit my finger on Fire as I looked around the all too familiar hiding place.

The hiding place was about a dozen feet under the house. It used to be a mine of some sort, but it was abandoned a long time ago. I jogged a ways away from the door. I stopped once I reached the edge of the shaft. I peered down into the darkness, wishing I could see in utter darkness or have Seismic-Sense like Toph Beifong, but alas, I do not have that ability… not yet.

However, I could feel the Inner Fire of other Fire Benders. It was valuable but limited. I could sense the heat of objects, meaning I could sense similarly to infrared.

Speaking of which, I could feel three Fire Benders, one of which was my Father. Two strangers. I sighed as I looked deeper into the darkness. Then, I chuckled softly to myself as I said, "Maybe a Whispering Death or a Screaming Death is in the Coal Mine." I shook my head in amusement at the thought of that.

I felt a change in the air. I felt a change in my bones. I felt something shift in my very soul.

I hid myself behind a large boulder as I snuffed out the Finger Fire I had going on.

I heard my mother screaming in either pain or distress.

I snarled to myself as I punched the boulder, feeling useless.

My Father shouted in rage as he said something that I could not hear clearly through all of the wood and stone.

I heard a brief scuffle, and sand and dust fell from the ceiling above me.

*BOOM* I heard a crack of thunder roar overhead.

I felt now only Two Inner Fires. I hoped and prayed that my Father was the one that killed and not the one to have died.

I now could smell smoke.

I knew there was an exit to the Mine, but I had to go through the Mine.

I lit my whole fist on Fire as I sprinted towards the Mine Shaft.

I ran and jumped down. I used my Fire Jets to slow my descent.

After several seconds I landed on the bottom of the Mine Shaft.

It was still dark in the shaft. So I picked up a "Bug Out Bag." It had a few days' worths of dried meats and dried fruits. It also had two Daggers and a knife sharpener. The last bit of items that it had were some Gold and Silver Coins.

I stretched out my senses as far as I could, and I could tell there was a large fire over where my house should have been. I sat down in the cave as I knew I had literally nothing to lose now. I had nothing left.

I closed my eyes as I felt my tears begin to run down my face, as my body began to weep for the loss of its parents.

I said, wiping tears and snot away, "I swear on my life that the Fire Nation will pay… I will kill them." Again, I sniffled as I tried to reign in my emotions, but it was impossible for me to do so.

So I cried and wept as quietly as I possibly could, not trusting myself or anyone. I would have to be an adult from now on.

I breathed out a volley of Blue Fire in rage. I sniffled as I said, "Once I am sure I am alone on the island. I will have to go through the rubble and find anything valuable, more money, more weapons. Anything that will help me in the future.

I once again do not own anything; all rights belong to their respective owners. So, for example, I do not own Avatar, the Last Air-Bender; all rights belong to Mike DiMartino and Nickelodeon.

Well, here is the Third Chapter. I hope that you all liked it.

If there is anything that you would like to see, leave a review and let me know, and I will try to plausibly incorporate it.

Death Fury signing off now.

PS

I have written a spin-off of this story called "An Extraordinary Life."
