Chapter 2: On the road to mondstadt
/Hello everyone! I'm back with another chapter. You can probably expect me to start a chapter with me clearing something up, in that case, yes I probably will start like that. This time I want to clear up a plot device. This device is the well known Hammer Space, if you are unfamiliar with hammer space it is basically the inventory you have in video games but in a more realistic format. I'm my story hammer space is actually quite common, in fact virtually everybody has their own hammer space. This includes our protagonist, and his hammer space can fit large objects such as his D-Wheel even though he has to use portals for said bigger objects. Other objects such as a sword or his duel disk, he can just reach behind him and focus on what object(s) he wants from hammer space and they will exit hammer space into his hand(as in he's holding the object). K, that's all I needed to clear up, enjoy!\
I slowly wake up to a noise, I groggily sit up and rub my eyes. Once my vision is cleared I find the source of the noise: Paimon. "What?" I ask, still feeling tired. "Wake up! Paimon is hungry!" My new floating companion shouts. "Okay, okay, jeez. Just let me get the tired out of my system." I stand up and use some water from the lake to splash myself, waking myself up fully. "Ahh! Better" I say feeling refreshed. "Paimon forgot you have power over the elements, your hair is already dry", "Oh, yeah that's normal." I start to set out to find some food, unfortunately there was no leftovers from last night due to Paimon eating all of it by herself and not even being half full.
After about half an hour I was able to gather some bird eggs and some vegetables to cook. "Sorry Paimon, but you'll have to get used to eating light while we are in the wilderness. If I was to feed you until you were full, then I'd probably need to hunt every animal in the area." "That's fine" responds Paimon, "That just means we need to get to the nearby city of Mondstatd, the city of freedom!" "Okay then let's eat then we can get going" I made a simple omelette with veggies mixed in, making this reminds me of home... wait... does it? Each memory I had of my lost home is fading since it no longer exists, I will still know that I'm from there and a general understanding of how my universe worked, but the specifics will always escape me. I shake my head and focus on cooking, soon it was done and we eat in silence.
Once we were done eating we head off, after I de-create the stove I was using. On our way we encountered some of this world's monsters, this was a small band of Hilichurls, they felt very similar to the Bokoblins from Hyrule, so when I attacked and killed one it turned into mist. 'Yep just like the Bokos'. Soon we encountered a strange statue, "What's this?" I ask, "That is a statue of the Anemo Archon: Barbados" Paimon replies, "Ah right, you explained Archon is another word for a god, and Anemo means wind. So this is a statue of the wind god." "Yep that's right!" I approach the statue, "I can feel a concentration of wind energy from inside the statue." I touch the statue and looked at it, I felt the wind energy point me in a certain direction. "That way!" I say looking past it to the woods in front of us. "Huh what do you mean?" Paimon asks, "Our destination is that direction, I used the energy inside it to point us in the direction of Mondstadt", "Oh, okay, let's go!" Paimon enthusiastically says.
We were walking in the woods when all of a sudden I felt a dramatic concentration of wind energy, then I grab Paimon and quickly create some cover by controlling the earth to put a good sized rock in front of us. "Shh!" I whisper, "someone or something is here." Paimon nods quietly and we look beyond our cover, well I did, Paimon was too scared. What I see is a young boy, who looks to be my physical age and a greenish-blue dragon, "It's okay" says the boy, "You don't have to be afraid" the boy seems to be trying to calm the dragon. "What is it Colton? What do you see?" Paimon says a little too loudly, the dragon and the boy look in our direction but don't seem to see me, then the dragon immediately takes flight and flys away, the boy then takes off running. In the place of the dragon was a red crystal, I walk over to the crystal and inspect it. The crystal contains wind energy contaminated with darkness. "Hmm... I'll keep this with me it might be important." I put the crystal way, "Oh! You have hammer space?" Asks Paimon who came out of hiding. "Yeah, wait that's a thing here?", "yeah pretty much anyone has it, it's very rare to not have hammer space, even Paimon has it." "Cool, good to know I'm not alone in that regard, anyway let's get going." "Right" responds Paimon. And we set off.
As we continue we get out of the woods and a city is in sight. "There it is!" Paimon shouts, "Ahh, I'm right next to you don't shout!", "Sorry" apologizes Paimon. We continue when we're stopped by a voice. "Halt suspicious travelers!" A girls voice rings out from my left, I look to see a girl in red running towards the end of the mini cliff I'm walking by. She jumps down and lands right in front of us, landing perfectly. "Greetings travelers, I am Amber, Outrider of the Knights of Favonius, state who you are and what you are doing here!" The girl named Amber struck a salute before resting her hands on her hips. "Hi, I'm Colton, I'm just someone traveling around." "Ah I see" Amber responds with, "You and this... mascot?", "Hey! Paimon is not a mascot!" "Then what would you call yourself?" I ask Paimon, one eyebrow raised. "Paimon is Paimon, nothing more, nothing less." "Oookay, hey do you know what city is over there in the distance?" I asked Amber after Turing to face her. "That is Mondstadt the city of freedom, and land of the Anemo Archon", "Oh great we're on the right track" I say out loud to no-one in particular. "Oh so your heading to the city? In that case I'll escort you!" Amber says with a confident look on her face. "Oh sure! Thank you!" I reply, "No problem, but we'll need to take a detour because I was tasked with clearing out a nearby hilichurl camp." "Oh, in that case let me help you with that to repay you escorting us to the city", "Are you sure? You don't seem to have a vision, nor do you look like your part of an army of some kind." "Huh? What do you mean by vision?" I ask confused, "I mean the objects certain people own that allows them to control an element, like mine right here" she point to the strange looking stone on hanging from her waist, it was red and had a fire symbol on it. "Hmm... interesting." I say to myself before thinking up a response, "Oh, uhh... well in that case you'll probably won't believe me, but I can control elements without a vision" 'I'm not telling anyone about the orbs, even if they could be mistaken for these so called visions, I'm not risking it'. "You can what!" Amber says in surprise. " yeah it's true, I can show you, I can use that camp your searching for as an example", "Okay then, let's go!" Amber quickly recovers from the surprise and starts moving ahead, I jog a little until I catch up with her, and start to generate a small ball of wind in my hand. "See this is what I mean", "Wow!" Replies Amber amazed by what I did.
The three of us arrive at the hilichurl camp and Amber takes out a bow, "let's clear out this camp!" She nocks and arrow imbued with fire, it hits a hilichurl that was on a tower killing it instantly, I then decided to be a show off, and create a duplex bow and a bomb arrow. I fire the arrow and thanks to the duplex bow's ability it multiplied the arrow by 2 and both arrows hit a hilichurl each exploding and taking out the rest. "Wow!" Amber says amazed, "So you can control more than one element and what was with that bow?!" "Yes I can control several elements, and I also have a special power that lets me create anything I want, other than food, or living things. That power allowed not to create a bow that can double the amount of arrows shot from it." "Cool!" Amber says with sparkling eyes, "I've got to introduce you to my friends!" "Ehehehe, sure" I say with a metaphorical sweat drop. I then notice something unscathed at in the camp, a treasure chest. "Ooh, treasure!" Paimon says, "Why don't you go ahead and open it Colton." Amber says to me, "Sure, don't mind if I do." I open the chest to find gold coins and some star shaped objects, a lot of star shaped objects. "What's all this?" "The gold is called mora, it's this world's currency, the star shaped objects are called primogems, if you gather 160 of them they'll turn into one of two star shaped objects called fates. Fates are thrown into the sky so people can try to get rare and powerful weapons." Paimon explains all this with a grin, eyeing the mora, I immediately put away the mora which causes Paimon to frown, as I start to gather up the primogems they start to glow a little and in their place was a purplish white spherical object that looks like a star. "Woah, you got an Intertwined fate, that's the one that will give you a better chance of getting a powerful weapon" Amber says with awe. "I guess I'll throw this into the sky and see what I get, I guess." I throw the fate and it disperses, then we all spot a shooting star in the sky, it turns orangish gold, and flys down and lands right in front of me. From the light was a slender purple sword with an electric symbol on it, "Huh, cool." I say not really understanding what went on. Paimon and Amber both were wide eyed, "Oh my Archon! That's THE Mistsplitter reforged! That's the most powerful sword forged in Tevat, there is only one copy of it in existence and it's right in front of me!" Amber was freaking out. "Oh so it's that rare, huh? Well I guess it's mine now", I take the sword and store it away. Amber then recovers from her shock, "Alright, let's go to Mondstadt!", "yes let's" I respond.
After a few minutes of walking we finally made it to the gates of the city. "Woah, the city looks beautiful!" I say as we approach the entrance.
/hello again, something I forgot to clear up is that the banner system is a thing but only for the weapons. Yeah giving our hero the best sword in the game seems to powerful, but it's not like he'll be using it that much, he'll mostly use a prototype rancour as soon as he orders one to be forged, which will be soon, the mistsplitter is pretty much a backup.
Anyway thank you for reading this chapter I appreciate it!\
