Chpt 65 - I Don't Want to Leave – Part 2

Time passes and Brandon gets off the elevator and rushes towards Kelly's room. He starts to hear a lot of talking as he approaches the room.

He gets to the room and sees Brenda, Jim, Cindy, Dylan, Steve, Silver, and Sammy in the room.

"Hey," said Brandon trying to catch his breath.

"Hey, well look who's finally back," said Brenda.

"C'mon in...someone's been waiting to see you," added Brenda.

Brandon walks in and finally sees Kelly sitting up on the bed. Kelly sees Brandon and smiles.

"You're awake," said Brandon still trying to catch his breath.

"Yeah, I am," said Kelly smiling.

Everyone has a confused look on how Brandon and Kelly are reacting.

"Kelly, Brandon stayed overnight and was so worried about you," said Cindy.

"I miss you so much...I'm so glad you're awake," said Brandon going to Kelly and grabbing ahold of her.

"I miss you too," said Kelly.

"Ok guys...how bout we leave the two reacquainted lovebirds alone," said Silver.

"Good idea...let's go," said Brenda.

Everyone says a quick goodbye before leaving the room.

Brandon sits on the side of Kelly's bed.

"So how do you feel?" asked Brandon.

"A little drowsy but I feel ok," replied Kelly giving Brandon a weak smile.

"I'm so happy that you're ok," said Brandon hugging and embracing Kelly tightly.

"Ow," said Kelly.

"Sorry….did I hurt you?" asked Brandon moving away.

"Just a little. I'm still a little vulnerable with some stitches," said Kelly.

Brandon gives her a weak smile.

"Can I give you a kiss?" asked Brandon smiling.

"Sure…but I should warn you that my breath isn't very appealing right now," replied Kelly.

Brandon leans in and kisses her. He pulls back and they smiled at each other.

"Mmm….I'd say that's about a 4 out of 5," joked Brandon.

Kelly laughs.

"I was here waiting for you to wake up. If I knew it only took me to leave the hospital for lunch, I would've done that yesterday," joked Brandon.

Kelly gives Brandon and unamusing smile.

"Are you hungry or thirsty?" asked Brandon.

"No, I'm ok. Dr. Long said I was given liquids and fluids when I was asleep," replied Kelly.

"Ok. But once you get out of here, we'll celebrate with a home cooked meal or go out," said Brandon.

"Ok. As long I don't have to cook," joked Kelly.

"It's a deal, babe," said Brandon giving Kelly another kiss.

"Did you get to hold the baby?" asked Brandon.

"No. I really want to see her," replied Kelly.

"Ok, I'll bring her by right now. She's so cute and beautiful, just like you," said Brandon.

"Ok. I'll be right here," said Kelly.

Brandon starts to leave but comes back to Kelly.

"Kel, I'm so sorry for what happened. I should've been more supportive. Brandon holding onto her hands," said Brandon.

"Thank you," said Kelly.

"Are we ok?" asked Brandon.

"Yes," replied Kelly.

"Are we really ok?" asked Brandon.

"Brandon, I said yes," replied Kelly smiling.

"Ok. Just checking," said Brandon.

"Can I see our baby now?" asked Kelly.

"Oh right. Of course, you can. I'll be right back," replied Brandon.

Brandon leaves. Time lapse with Brandon coming back with the baby in his arms. Kelly smiles as soon she sees the baby.

"Hello Mommy," said Brandon.

"Oh my god…she's beautiful," said Kelly smiling.

Brandon smile he watches Kelly holding and making funny faces with the baby. The baby raises her hands to Kelly's mouth, making Kelly smile.

"Have you thought of any names?" asked Kelly.

"No. All I've been thinking of is you," replied Brandon.

Kelly smiles at Brandon.

"Have you spent any time with her yesterday?" asked Kelly.

"A little bit when I brought Sammy over," replied Brandon.

"C'mon," said Kelly handing Brandon the baby.

Brandon smiles and takes the baby from Kelly.

"Hi baby," smiled Brandon.

"She needs a name," said Kelly.

"What have you come up with?" asked Brandon.

"How about Winnie?" asked Kelly.

"Winnie Walsh?" asked Brandon.

"Yeah," smiled Kelly.

"How bout if we add in her middle name, Kelly?" asked Brandon.

"Really?" asked Kelly.

"Yeah…but do you like it?" asked Brandon.

"Of course. That'll mean so much," replied Kelly.

"Do you really like it?" asked Kelly.

"Yes, I do," replied Brandon.

"Ok then. You are hereby Winnie Kelly Walsh," said Kelly pointing at Winnie making her laugh.

They both smile.

Brandon hands Winnie back to Kelly.

Doctor Long slowly walks in.

"Hi you two…sorry to interrupt," smiled Dr. Long.

"Hi Dr. Long. It's ok," said Kelly.

"So, how are we doing?" asked Dr. Long.

"Good. We've decided on a name," replied Kelly.

"Great. What is it?" asked Dr. Long.

"Winnie Kelly Walsh", replied Kelly.

"Mmmm….interesting," said Dr. Long.

"Do you like it?" asked Kelly.

"Yeah, I do. My aunt's name is Winnie," replied Dr. Long.

"I'll log that in and give you her birth certificate soon," added Dr. Long.

"Kelly, if you don't mind, we're going to keep you here for one more night just for you to heal and for precautionary reasons," said Dr. Long.

"Ok. But do I have to stay in bed the entire time?" asked Kelly.

"No, you can get up shortly," replied Dr. Long.

"Thanks," said Kelly.

"Thanks for all your help, Dr. Long. I'm sorry for being such a pain yesterday," said Brandon.

"Think nothing of it. I wouldn't expect anything less from a loving husband," smiled Dr. Long.

"I'll be back to check on you two soon," said Dr. Long.

"Ok," said Brandon and Kelly.

Dr. Long leaves.

Brandon eases back on the bed next to Kelly. Brandon leans in and kisses both Kelly and Winnie.

Time lapses and we see Silver and Kelly together in Kelly's room.

"So how are you really feeling?" smiled Silver.

"I'm doing ok," said Kelly.

"You look beautiful," said Silver.

"Yeah right," said Kelly smiling.

"You do. You're glowing. You've got that new mother glow," said Silver.

"No, that's just sweat…and you'll have that too one day," joked Kelly.

Silver laughs.

"So how bad was it?" asked Kelly.

"I don't know. Did you ask Brandon?" asked Silver.

"I didn't ask him yet. I figure it'll just be easier to hear it from you," replied Kelly.

"I don't know much except that you lost a lot of blood and that you passed out after the birth, said Silver.

"Oh god. I heard I lost a lot of blood," said Kelly.

"Yeah. But they stopped it," said Silver.

They paused for a moment.

"Yeah. I'm just so glad that Winnie's healthy," said Kelly.

"And that you're ok too," said Silver.

"Yeah. I don't know if this is a sign of me getting weaker and weaker each time I come in here," said Kelly.

"Well, you're only human, Kel," said Silver.

"Yeah, I just don't want you guys to go through this while I was going through it," said Kelly.

"How could we not? We love you" said Silver.

"I know you guys do. How was Brandon?...and tell me the truth," asked Kelly.

"He was pretty nervous. He barely spent any time with Winnie. All he did was worry about you," replied Silver.

Silver pauses for a moment.

"Would you have expected him to act any other way?" asked Silver.

"No. I was just thinking about something," replied Kelly.

"What?" asked Silver.

"Nothing. It's nothing. I'm glad Brandon was here," replied Kelly with a worried look.

Silver notices Kelly's acting weird.

"What's nothing?" asked Silver.

"Nothing," replied Kelly trying to keep calm.

"Kel, you're gonna be fine," said Silver.

"I know. Thanks for checking up on me, Silver," said Kelly.

"Hey, you're my favorite sister…and I love you," said Silver.

"You know you get me every time you say that…even though you know every time that I'm your only sister," said Kelly laughs.

Silver smiles and they hug.

Later on, Kelly and Sammy are in Kelly's hospital room.

"How are you feeling, mom?" asked Sammy.

"I'm doing ok. How are you, Sammy?" asked Kelly.

"I'm very happy that you're awake," replied Sammy leaning in to give Kelly a hug.

Kelly smiles and hugs Sammy.

"Me too," said Kelly.

"I was really scared that you weren't going to wake up…so was dad…and Silver…and everyone else," said Sammy.

"I'm glad I woke up. And I'm sorry for scaring everyone," said Kelly.

"Dad was acting weird yesterday. I tried to keep my cool around him. But he was really worried. He stayed with you all day," said Sammy.

"Yeah, I know. But thank you for keeping your cool, especially around dad. I know that was hard," said Kelly.

"Did you get to see Winnie?" asked Kelly.

"Yeah," replied Sammy.

"So, what do you think about being a big brother now?" asked Kelly.

"I don't know. It's ok, I guess," replied Sammy.

"Well, give it some time. You'll have someone your age to play with now…when she's a little bit older, of course," said Kelly.

"I'm six years older than her," said Sammy.

"Still. That's pretty close. She is just a baby. So, we all have to do our part in taking care of her. Because there is a part of all of us in her. She's a part of you. She's a part of me. She's a Walsh. Can you be a good big brother for your sister?" asked Kelly.

"Yes, but I'm a little scared" replied Sammy.

"Why?" asked Kelly.

"What if I don't do a good job?" asked Sammy.

"You will. You'll learn. And Winnie will learn how to be a good little sister," replied Kelly.

"Is she going to grow up to be like Aunt Silver?" asked Sammy.

"Hope so…are you ok with that?" asked Kelly.

"I'd like that," replied Sammy.

"We'll all be here for you. You're never in this alone," said Kelly.

"Ok," said Sammy.

"Thank you, sweetie…it's going to be fun…and interesting," said Kelly.

They hug.

Silver walks in.

"Hey, I wanna get in on this action too," said Silver.

"Well, get in here then," said Kelly.

Silver hurries over and hugs them. They break the hug.

"Where's dad? He's missing the family hug," asked Sammy.

"He went home to shower and change," replied Silver.

"Oh ok," said Silver.

"C'mon Sammy. We suppose to meet everyone for dinner," said Silver.

"Ok. Mom, are you coming?" asked Sammy.

"No. I have to stay here for one more night…you go. Have a good time," said Kelly.

"Ok," said Sammy.

Sammy and Kelly hug again.

"C'mon. Why don't you put on some clothes and join us," joked Silver.

"Sorry, I can't," smiled Kelly.

"Ok. I'll do a Facetime with you at the restaurant," said Silver.

"I don't have my phone. Brandon does," said Kelly.

"Ok then. I'll take pictures," said Silver.

"Ok," said Kelly.

Silver takes a step back as she gets ready to leave.

"You'll be alright?" asked Silver.

"Yeah, I'll be fine. I'll be right here, "said Kelly.

"Ok. We love you," said Silver.

"I love you too," said Kelly smiling.

Silver and Sammy walk out the door.

Kelly is resting in her room by herself. Brenda walks in and slowly walks to Kelly. Brenda hesitates a little before touching Kelly's shoulder to wake her up.

Kelly starts to move and sees Brenda. They smile.

"Hi," said Kelly.

"Hey," said Brenda.

"What are you doing here? I thought everyone was at the Peach Pit for dinner," said Kelly.

"Yeah well. I'm not in the mood. I just came to say goodbye," said Brenda.

"Are you in a rush to go somewhere?" asked Kelly.

"No," replied Brenda.

"Neither am I. Do you want to talk?" asked Kelly.

"I ended things with Dylan this morning," said Brenda.

"Why?" asked Kelly.

"We're just not right for each other. It's complicated," replied Brenda.

"Does he feel the same way?" asked Kelly.

"Who knows? He was talking to me as if everything was ok but it's not," replied Brenda.

"And he constantly does this. I would ask if he wanted to do something with me. He would say yes. Then he complains that he doesn't want to do it anymore and blames me for dragging him into it. Then he says he's sorry and tries to pretend as if nothing happened," added Brenda.

"That's very observant," said Kelly.

"I've had enough experience with Dylan McKay to know that he'll never change his ways," said Brenda.

"So what are you going to do now?" asked Kelly.

"Go back to Minnesota with my parents and Abby," replied Brenda.

"Where's he now?" asked Kelly.

"I don't know. He said he was going to the airport," replied Brenda.

"I think you should go after him," said Kelly.

"Why?" asked Brenda.

"Can I give you some advice and you not take it as if I'm bringing anything up from the triangle?" asked Kelly.

"Ooookkkk," replied Brenda having a quick laugh.

"I agree with everything that you said about Dylan. But at the end of the day, he was here for you and he stayed for you" said Kelly.

"I think he only stayed because he wanted to make sure you were ok," said Brenda.

"I don't see him here. Do you?" asked Kelly.

"No, but this has nothing to do with us," replied Brenda.

"To me, Dylan can be predictable and unpredictable at times. But one thing I know is that he doesn't hide his feelings. He may not always tell you what you want to hear but if he is willing to work with you, he can be great," said Kelly.

"Then why is he always letting me down?" asked Brenda.

"Because he's human…and Dylan McKay is as human as you can get," replied Kelly.

They both share a laugh.

We see a crowded airport. Brenda runs in and looking for flight information on one of the display screens. She takes out her phone and makes a phone call.

Her face frowns when it goes straight to voicemail.

"Dylan, I'm sorry for how I left things. I'm at the airport looking for you. If you still want to talk, please call me back," said Brenda.

She hangs up the phone.

Her phone starts to ring. She sees that it's Dylan. She picks up.

"Hi," said Brenda.

"Hi," said Dylan.

"Where are you?" asked Brenda.

"Right behind you," replied Dylan.

Brenda has a weird look on her face. She turns around and sees Dylan.

"Oh hey…this is a coincidence," Brenda looking surprised.

"Yeah," said Dylan with a sad look.

Brenda feels the awkwardness between.

"I thought you'll be gone by now," said Brenda.

"Yeah well, I'm still here," said Dylan.

"Oh ok," said Brenda.

"What are you doing here?" asked Dylan.

"I was hoping we can talk," replied Brenda.

"What about?" asked Dylan.

"I want to know that everything is ok between us," replied Brenda.

"Everything is fine," said Dylan.

"Really? I just don't want you to be mad at me," said Brenda.

"I can do that. I'm giving you your space," said Dylan.

"I know I said that's what I wanted but maybe it's not all I wanted," said Brenda.

"I don't have anything else to give you," said Dylan.

"You can give me your love and support," said Brenda.

"I tried to and you said no," said Dylan.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. Please know I do want you in my life and I want to make this work," said Brenda.

"It's not what you said this morning," said Dylan.

"Is it too late for me to change my mind?" asked Brenda.

"What changed your mind?" asked Dylan.

"It just took time for to realize that working stuff out is part of being in a relationship," replied Brenda.

"I see," said Dylan.

"I can't say that it was totally my fault here but I was wrong to force you to come here when you didn't want to," said Brenda.

"Thank you," said Dylan.

"I was wrong in forcing you to do a lot of things," said Brenda.

"Thank you. I happen to enjoy some of those because I got to be with you," said Dylan.

"Like what?" asked Brenda.

"Like going to poetry readings and going horseback riding,' replied Dylan.

"I had fun too," said Brenda.

"I'll definitely work on giving you more space and hearing you out a lot more. But one thing I want to make clear is that Abby and I come together. So being with me also means you'll be with Abby as well. I know it's a lot to take in. And I'll understand if you don't want to be a part of that," added Brenda.

"I get it that we both want different things sometimes….," replied Dylan.

Brenda looks worried.

"But it doesn't change the fact that I want you. I want you and Abby," said Dylan.

"Do you really mean that?" asked Brenda.

"Yes. Because every time, I look at her, I think of you. And she's so adorable," replied Dylan.

Brenda smiles.

Dylan takes a step closer to Brenda. Brenda has worried look on her face. He looks at her and gives her a hug. With a surprise look on her face, Brenda hugs Dylan too.

They break the hug.

"That was nice. What does it mean?" asked Brenda.

"It means I want to take things slow…for once…and get to know you better," replied Dylan.

"Ok…But you're scaring me a little," said Brenda.

"Why? You don't like this too?" asked Dylan with confused look.

"No, I like it. It's just different," replied Brenda.

"But I love that we'll get to know each other better," said Brenda.

"Me too," said Dylan.

Dylan takes Brenda's hand. And they start to walk away together. Midway, Brenda pulls Dylan unlocks their hands and pulls him in for quick kiss.

"Whoa Bren, control yourself. You're moving too fast for me," joked Dylan.

Brenda playfully hits him.

Brandon and Kelly are in Kelly's hospital room. Kelly is in the hospital bed. Brandon is adjusting the bed.

"What are you doing?" asked Kelly.

"Making you comfortable," replied Brandon.

"It's ok. I'm fine," said Kelly.

"Ok. Do you want any water?" asked Brandon.

"No," replied Kelly.

"Do you want me to read you a bedtime story?" joked Brandon.

"Why didn't you offer this when Winnie was here?" asked Kelly.

"Because this story is just for mommies and daddies to hear," replied Brandon smiling.

"Oh, in that case, no," said Kelly.

"Why?" asked Brandon.

"You'll tell the story, get me in the mood, and I won't be able to sleep after that," replied Kelly smiling.

"Ok. I actually don't have a story planned," said Brandon.

"You don't?" asked Kelly.

"No. I was just going to take my shirt off," joked Brandon.

"Oooo…a story and a show," said Kelly.

"You got it," said Brandon.

Kelly laughs.

"We'll have plenty of chances to catch up. I'm so happy and relieved you're ok," said Brandon taking Kelly's hand.

"Me too. And now we can get go home with Winnie," said Kelly.

Brandon smiles, leans in, and they kiss.

They break.

"It's getting late. Why don't you head on home?" asked Kelly.

"You sure? I was going to stay the night with you," replied Brandon.

"You don't have to," said Kelly.

"Well, I kind of want to," said Brandon.

"Ok then," said Kelly.

"Do you mind?" asked Brandon.

"No. Of course, I love having you here," replied Kelly.

"Ok. I'm just going to go use the restroom. Do you want anything?" asked Brandon.

"No, I'm ok. Thanks," replied Kelly.

Brandon gets up and walks out the door. Kelly slowly closes her eyes to go to sleep.

Brandon starts to walk to the restroom and stops when he sees Teresa, who smiles at him.

"Brandon, you're still here. I thought Kelly was all better," said Teresa.

"Yeah. Dr. Long wanted her to stay one more night…so I'm just keeping her company," said Brandon.

"That's nice. I'm really happy and relieved for you, Brandon," said Teresa.

"Me too. After tonight, I get to take my crazy self and my family back home," said Brandon.

Teresa laughs.

"Trust me, you weren't crazy. I would've acted the same way if I was in your situation," said Teresa.

"Listen Brandon. I'm sorry for this afternoon. I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable," added Teresa.

"No worries. You didn't. Thanks for keeping me company last night. It made me appreciate what I have," said Brandon.

"Good. You were the first guy I've met in a long time that made my night shift go by so quickly," said Teresa.

"I hope I won't be the last," said Brandon.

"Good night, Brandon," said Teresa.

"Good night, Teresa," said Brandon.

They smile at each other one last time before going their separate ways.

Kelly's room slightly opens and we see Kelly by the door. She has a sad look on her face. She takes a deep breath, goes back to her bed, closes her eyes, and goes to sleep.

Coming Next: Brandon's paternal leave gets a rough start.
