Author's Note – Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy the chapter. For those interested in some "behind the scenes info", I spent a lot of time dealing with rewrites for this storyline, mainly because of two details; trying to figure out of how Kelly found out about the nanny and would how Brenda find out about BK's breakup. In the previous version, Brandon hired the nanny and Kelly didn't find out until 2 weeks later. Also, Sammy was the one who spilled the beans about the BK breakup to Brenda. That was scratched because I wanted Brenda to find out on her own and actually witness BK's argument and problems. This way, Brenda can be a little more emotional and affected by the breakup.

Chpt 77 – Un Normal Pt 3

We see everyone having dinner together at the house. Brandon, Kelly, Dylan, and Brenda are talking amongst each other. Sammy is watching cartoons on his tablet. Silver is on her phone.

"Kel, did anyone pull a senior prank this year?" asked Brenda.

"Not that I know of," replied Kelly.

"I doubt anyone can top our Class of 92 prank," said Kelly.

"Yeah," said Brenda.

Dylan turns to Silver.

"Hey Silver, you're gonna try to pull a senior prank next year?" asked Dylan.

"Yeah, aren't you a senior next year?" asked Brenda.

Silver and Kelly looks at each other.

"Don't even think about it, Missy," said Kelly giving Silver a stern look.

"Yeah, I'm gonna think about it," said Silver giving Kelly a sinister look.

"We'll talk later. I got some good ideas for you," said Dylan to Silver.

"I heard that," smiled Kelly.

"Brandon, you ok? You've been kind of quiet," asked Brenda.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just full," replied Brandon who has stuff on his mind.

"Yeah, thanks ladies for the dinner. You two did an amazing job," said Dylan.

"Well, thanks for the help," said Kelly.

"Before we wrap up dinner, here, I want to run a fun idea by you two," said Brenda.

"Sure, what is it?" asked Brandon.

"Dylan and I were thinking about ideas for the reception," said Brenda.

"Is this the comedy bit?" asked Dylan quietly to Brenda.

"Yes. We were thinking about having a small roast," replied Brenda.

"Ok. It's mainly her idea; not mine. I'm just going along with it," said Dylan.

"Ok; let's hear it," said Brandon.

"Well, I think it'll be fun. Since you two are our best friends and know us so well, we wanted to see if you can dig up some funny stories about when we were in high school and give us a little roast," said Brenda.

Brandon and Kelly don't say anything and gives Brenda a weird look.

"Ok, you know Kelly can roast me and Brandon and roast Dylan; it'll just be a nostalgic thing; it's just for fun and for a good laugh," said Brenda.

"I'm all for a good laugh and reliving some things about our past; but do you think it's really a good idea to bring certain sensitive subjects from our past," said Dylan.

"Ok. We can review everything before we do it. I think it'll be fun. What do you guys think?" asked Brenda.

"Um…..well….," said Kelly and Brandon looking at each other.

"Now, you got my attention," smiled Silver.

"You see? Silver likes it," said Brenda.

"Yeah, that's because nobody's roasting her," said Dylan.

"I mean; I guess, whatever you guys want. I'll be like, remember that time when it took months for Dylan to choose between Brenda and Kelly; and then chose Kelly?" asked Brandon mimicking holding up a microphone.

"You're kidding, right?" asked Kelly with a mean look.

Brandon notices the tension.

"Yeah, I was just kidding," said Brandon giving Kelly a serious look.

"God, I hope you are; this is their wedding; what the hell is the matter with you for bringing that up?" asked Kelly.

"Hey, I said I was just kidding, alright?" replied Brandon.

"Alright then," said Kelly.

Dylan and Brenda notice the tension between Brandon and Kelly.

"Ok, maybe not that; but we can think about other ideas," said Brenda.

"Yeah, we might need to do that," said Dylan.

"C'mon Sammy. Let's go to my room. I have something to show you," said Silver senses the tension.

"Alright," said Sammy.

Silver and Sammy leave the table and walk away.

"Guys, don't worry about it. We'll think of something fun to do; sorry for bringing up a bad idea. I guess I didn't think it through," said Brenda.

"Maybe someone else should've thought it through before opening up his mouth," said Kelly.

"Look, I said I was only kidding, alright. You don't have to keep pushing it," said Brandon who gets up.

He walks to the sink and start to clean.

Dylan and Brenda kept their head down and avoid eye contact.

"I think I'm gonna go to the restroom to freshen up," said Brenda who gets up and walks away.

"Yeah, I'm kind of full; so, I'm gonna just go outside to get some fresh air," said Dylan who gets up and walks out the door.

Kelly looks at Brandon who is busy cleaning up and avoiding her.

"You got it here?" asked Kelly.

"Yeah, I'll be fine," replied Brandon still looking at Kelly.

"Ok, I'm gonna go and check on the baby," said Kelly.

"Ok," said Brandon.

Kelly walks away.

Kelly leaves Winnie's room and sees the bathroom door slightly opened. He quietly knocks on it. The door fully opens. Brenda is still in there.

"Hey, you doing ok in here?" asked Kelly

"Yeah, I'm sorry; I'll be right out," replied Brenda.

"Oh no; I was just checking. Please take your time," said Kelly.

"Ok. Thanks," said Brenda.

Kelly leaves.

Brenda walks out of the room and hears talking coming from Silver's room.

"It's happening, isn't it?" asked Sammy.

"No, you don't know that; so, stop getting everyone worried," replied Silver.

"You heard them arguing; it was the same thing that Uncle Dylan and mom used to do," Sammy.

"Sammy, you were only like 2 years old; how do you remember that?" asked Silver.

"Because I don't like yelling. It can remember it well," replied Sammy.

"Things will be ok?" asked Silver.

"What if we have to go back to the hotel again?" asked Sammy.

"Then we go back," replied Silver getting a little frustrated of Sammy's questions.

"Besides, I thought you loved it at the hotel," said Sammy.

"Yeah at first. But that's when I thought dad was going to join us," said Sammy.

Silver hugs Sammy.

"Sammy, I'm sorry that I can't make this better for you. But grownups do fight sometimes….and all us kids can do is hope that they can work things out," said Silver.

"But do you know if mom and dad will be ok again?' asked Sammy.

"I hope so….but no matter what happens; they'll always love you," replied Silver.

"Thanks Silver," said Sammy.

"You'll make a good mom…someday," added Sammy.

"Thanks Sammy…..It'll be a while till I'm ready for that," said Silver.

"You can use me as practice," said Sammy.

"Oh believe me, I am," joked Silver.

We see Brenda standing in the hallway listening. She walks towards the kitchen and sees Brandon cleaning up. She walks up to Brandon.

"You need any help?' asked Brenda.

"No, I'm ok. I just finished. Thanks though," smiled Brandon.

"Sorry about earlier. I guess we don't have to do the roast," said Brenda.

"It's ok. I'm guess Kelly's right. It was stupid of me for bringing that up," said Brandon.

"Hey; don't be so hard on yourself. Everything worked out for the best…you know…with us," said Brenda.

"Right," said Brandon.

"Everything going ok between you two?" asked Brenda.

"Just dandy," replied Brandon trying to avoid the subject.

"We're not putting a burden on you two with the wedding, right?" asked Brenda.

"No, not at all," replied Brandon.

"Brandon, please be serious with me. What's going on between you two? I've never seen you two like this before," said Brenda.

"It's nothing. Kelly's just stuck up in her ways," said Brandon.

They hear Kelly walking towards the kitchen.

"Ok. Let me know if you ever want to talk," said Brenda.

"Ok, thanks," said Brandon.

"Anytime," said Brenda.

Kelly sees Brandon and Brenda hug.

Brenda sees Kelly.

"Wanna join in this group hug?" asked Brenda.

"No, seems a little crowded there," replied Kelly.

Brandon has a mean look on his face.

They break the hug.

"Ok, then I'll come to you," said Brenda.

Brenda walks to Kelly and they hug.

"Always good to see you. We'll be in touch," said Brenda.

"Great," said Kelly.

Dylan walks back into the house.

"Ok Bren, the car's out front," said Dylan.

"Ok; be right there," said Brenda.

Dylan goes to hug Brandon and then walks to hug Kelly.

"Ok, bye," said Brenda and Dylan.

"Bye," said Brandon and Kelly.

Kelly closes the door.

Kelly and Brandon look at each other from the distance.

"I was thinking we should probably talk," said Kelly.

"Ok," said Brandon.

Kelly walks towards Brandon.

The scene changes to Brenda and Dylan in the car. Dylan is driving.

"Something is wrong with those two. I can tell," said Brenda.

"How can you tell?" asked Dylan.

"I mean; c'mon. You were there. Couldn't you feel the tension?' asked Brenda.

"Yeah, I felt it. But it's just an argument," replied Dylan.

"I hope so…but based on what I heard Sammy said, it may be more than that," said Brenda.

"What did Sammy say?" asked Dylan.

"I wasn't able to hear much but he was talking to Silver about them having to stay at a hotel," replied Brenda.

"So; maybe they were on vacation?" asked Dylan.

"But Brandon wasn't there," replied Brenda.

Dylan stays silent.

"If everything's ok, it doesn't make any sense," added Brenda.

"Sometimes, you can't take what you hear from an 8-year-old too seriously," said Dylan.

"But it's not like he was talking to me; he was talking to Silver," said Brenda.

"Bren, it's none of our business," said Dylan.

"Yeah, I know…but these are our best friends; aren't you concern at all about them?" asked Brenda.

"I care. But what can we do about it?" asked Dylan.

"I don't know. They seemed to be fine before tonight. Did you notice anything?" asked Brenda.

"No," replied Dylan.

"Maybe it was me and my dumb idea about doing the roast," said Brenda.

"It's not a dumb idea," said Dylan.

"But you didn't like it," said Brenda.

"Mmmm…yeah….sort of…but I would do it if it made you happy," said Dylan.

"Thanks…I should've never brought it up," said Brenda.

"And maybe Brandon shouldn't have brought up…the thing between us and Kelly," said Dylan.

"They must hate me right now to causing this," said Brenda.

"Bren, you can't think like that. You didn't do anything wrong," said Dylan.

"How do you know?" asked Brenda.

"I just do," said Dylan.

"Ok," said Brenda.

"Do you feel better now?" asked Dylan.

"No," replied Brenda.

Dylan briefly turns and looks at Brenda.

Brandon and Kelly sitting on the bed next to each other. They're both looking down.

"I'm sorry for what I said. I didn't mean to go that far," said Kelly.

"Thanks. I'm sorry too," said Brandon.

"Thanks for not causing a scene in front to our friends. I really appreciate it; I already feel like I got out of control there," said Kelly.

"It's ok," said Brandon.

"No, it's not," said Kelly.

Brandon turns and looks at Kelly.

"You were right about being honest with our friends. I think we should tell them the truth," said Kelly.

"You sure?" asked Brandon.

"Yeah, they'll understand," replied Kelly.

"And if they don't?" asked Brandon.

"I don't know. We just gotta hope they do," replied Kelly.

"Ok," said Brandon.

"I want to be honest with you too, Brandon," said Kelly.

"It's always good to be honest," smiled Brandon putting his arm around Kelly.

"You know we've lived apart for almost three months now...In a way I was hoping that was enough for us to think things over and everything would be ok again," said Kelly.

"I think aside from tonight, I think things were going ok so far," said Brandon.

"That's the problem, Brandon. Ever since I agreed to come back and live here, I feel like I only did it because it was the right thing to do," said Kelly.

"But it was the right thing to do," said Brandon.

"I know...but it wasn't something I wanted to do. Since I've been back, I've been unhappy. I've been the worst version of myself," said Kelly.

"And you think that's my fault?" asked Brandon.

"No, I'm not saying that, Brandon. I'm saying that I can't be myself here. I've become this version of myself that I don't like. And I don't want to be this kind of person around anyone, especially around our kids," replied Kelly.

"We can work on it. It takes time to get better or better yet, just be yourself," said Brandon starting to get emotional.

"I think we've given this long enough," said Kelly.

Brandon takes his hand away from Kelly's shoulders.

"You can't just give up like this," said Brandon.

"There's nothing more that we can do," said Kelly.

Brandon doesn't reply as he looks down.

"I appreciate that you're not giving up on us. But you have to admit that it was easier for us to be ourselves when we were apart," said Kelly.

"No, I'm not saying that," said Brandon.

"I don't want this as much as you do, Brandon," said Kelly.

Brandon holds onto Kelly's hands.

"Can you look at me?" asked Brandon.

Kelly looks up at and looks at Brandon with a sad look.

"You are what I moved back to L.A. for. I still can say that I love looking at this face every day and that I still love you. I still love your heart. I don't want to give up on us. I know you feel the same way too. Can you say that to me? Because if you can, then it's not over," said Brandon giving Kelly a bittersweet smile.

Kelly shakes her head and starts to cry.

"I can't. I don't know how I feel but what I do know is that I just don't feel the same way anymore. Things have changed. I'm just not the same person I used to be and being here and being with each other doesn't seem right anymore…I don't want that side of me to keep coming out where we're constantly yelling at each other," said Kelly crying.

Brandon breaks down and starts to cry.

"Look, I'm sorry for accusing you and I'm sorry about the nanny. I'm sorry for what happened tonight. I'm sorry for everything. I will quit my job and take care of the kids. You can work. Really, without you, I'm nothing," said Brandon clutching onto Kelly's hands.

Kelly grabs Brandon's face.

"No, you are something; you will always be someone special to me and to our kids; and you'll be special without me," said Kelly embracing Brandon.

"You don't have to be sorry. I'm the one who really needs to be sorry. You're a good guy but I just can't love you like I used to, Brandon. I can't believe I'm about to say this but I don't like the person I am when I'm with you," added Kelly.

"So I can't do this anymore….I'm sorry; I just can't," said Kelly.

Brandon holds onto Kelly tighter. Kelly grabs onto Brandon and they continue to hug.

We see a door marked "10." A hand knocks on the door.

The door opens and we see Brenda.

"Hey, what was so important that you can't tell me on the phone?" asked Brenda.

We see Brandon and Kelly looking at Brenda sadly. They then look at each other.

Time lapses and we see Brandon, Kelly, Brenda, and Dylan talking inside the hotel room.

"Wow. I thought it was just tonight," said Brenda.

"We've had a lot of problems over the past few months. It's just too much," said Kelly.

"We've talked this over. We've decided to officially separate," said Brandon.

"Oh, I can't take this," said Brenda who starts to get teary.

"We're sorry. We tried to wait till after the wedding but we just can't," said Kelly.

"So, what are you guys gonna do?" asked Dylan.

"We don't know yet. We just decided tonight," replied Brandon.

Kelly sees Brenda is very emotional.

"I know it's nice of Brandon to say that it was our decision but it's mine. It was my decision. If you have to blame anyone, it's me," said Kelly.

Brenda looks at Kelly.

"Why?" asked Brenda.

"Things have just gotten so complicated," replied Kelly.

"So? That's all a part of life. So, what if things get complicated? Is that a reason to just give up?" asked Brenda.

"I don't want to get into details; I'm sorry," replied Kelly.

"Why not? Help us understand," said Brenda.

Kelly stays silent.

"Brandon? What happened?" asked Brenda.

"You wouldn't understand," replied Brandon not looking Brenda to her face.

"Oh really? Is that what you're going to tell Sammy and Winnie?" asked Brenda.

"Hey Bren! That's enough," said Dylan.

"Why aren't you upset over this?!" asked Brenda.

"Guys, don't get upset with each other over this. This is our situation. We just wanted to be honest with you," replied Kelly.

"Well, thank you then. Because I gotta be honest with you too. I don't think I can have a maid of honor who I'm upset with," said Brenda.

"Bren! Don't make things worse. Kel, she didn't mean that," said Dylan.

"No, it's ok. It's Brenda's choice. I don't think I'll make a good maid of honor," said Kelly.

"In fact, I don't think I'll make a good guest at your wedding. So, I don't think I'm going to come," added Kelly.

Brandon stays silent.

Later, we see Dylan and Brenda in their hotel bedroom.

"Why did you do that to Kelly?" asked Dylan.

"Dylan, I'm sorry. I can't have my maid of honor, who is supposed to be my best friend just dump my brother like that," replied Brenda.

"So, it's just your decision. Don't I get a say in this?" asked Dylan.

"I'm sorry; but it's different. I have to see her almost every day. How can I even look at her knowing that she broke my brother's heart?" asked Brenda.

"Ok. I guess I didn't think of that. You can do whatever you want," replied Dylan.

"Do you think that she meant it when she said she's not coming to the wedding?" asked Brenda.

"I don't know. She was pretty mad," replied Dylan.

Brenda huffs.

"Maybe I overreacted," said Brenda.

"You think?" asked Dylan.

Brenda gives Dylan a mean look.

"Ok, you had your reasons but you were kind of rude to her and you were choosing Brandon's side," said Dylan.

"Maybe if you had backed me up, then…," said Brenda.

"Then she would've hated both us…and still wouldn't have come to the wedding," said Dylan cutting Brenda off.

"I guess you're right," said Brenda.

"Are you changing your mind?" asked Dylan.

"Not about the maid of honor," replied Brenda.

"But you still want her to come to the wedding," said Dylan.

Brenda doesn't answer right away.

"Yes," said Brenda.

"Well then, talk to her," said Dylan.

"I don't want to see her right now. You know what? If she doesn't want to come, then she doesn't have to," said Brenda.

Dylan shaking his head in disapproval.

"Would it make you feel better if I tell Brandon he can't be my best man?" asked Dylan.

"No, I never thought about doing that," replied Brenda.

Dylan goes and put his arms around Brenda from behind.

"Maybe they'll get back together and change their mind about breaking up," said Dylan.

"Maybe," replied Brenda.

"Maybe we can focus on us? And that we're going to be husband and wife?" asked Dylan.

"Maybe," replied Brenda.

"I had this perfect vision of our best friends who are married and in love being our best man and maid of honor," added Brenda.

"That's nice but it's not a deal-breaker for us. We're still in love and I really want to marry you….if you still want to marry me," said Dylan.

"Of course, I still want to marry you," said Brenda.

Brenda turns around and they kiss.

They break the kiss.

"It's just going to be weird; that's all," said Brenda.

"Yeah….Bren, I have to tell you something," said Dylan.

"What?" asked Brenda.

"I want to be totally honest," replied Dylan.

"What is it?" asked Brenda.

"Brandon told me about him and Kelly when we were talking earlier today," replied Dylan.

"What? Why didn't you tell me?" asked Brenda.

"I promise Brandon I wouldn't. He didn't want Kelly to find out," replied Dylan.

"Maybe we could've done something to save their relationship," said Brenda.

"I only found out about this a few hours before you did. I don't think that would've made a difference," said Dylan.

"You're right," said Brenda.

To be continued….
