When Percy came to be again, he found himself in the same comfy bed as before. He rubbed his eye sleepily as the past two days hit him like a goddamn truck.

His spine went rigid and he tensed up like he was a child soldier in war before falling onto the bed once again. He hugged the unfamiliar pillow to himself and wished he had fucking died. But alas, he was still alive and kicking in this dreary existence.

He hugged the pillow tighter for a second before letting go completely. The day was up and he was doing himself no favors by being a big baby.

He grudgingly got up from the bed and dragged himself into the bathroom to get ready for the morning. Everything inside was new and made with his preference in mind and he hated it.

Percy opened up the wardrobe to find himself face to face with some of his old clothes and some new clothes. They were all neat and tidy with not a single crease to them.

Percy stubbornly took one of his old ones out and dressed.

When he was out in the strange corridor once again, he didn't know where to go. He was just about to head back inside and look for an open window when he found Manaphy.

Completely ignoring his magical blackout the day before, he raised a hand in greeting. Manaphy nodded back in response before speaking.

"I see you are not a morning person." It remarked dryly. "Though, I suppose it is not that great of a morning to you." It added.

Percy leaned back and let it talk, his sea-green eyes never leaving it for a second.

"You know, you don't need to be that wary around me." Manaphy said. "But anyway, since you haven't been informed about anything but the very, very basics I will try to explain them to you."

So it did.

If Percy was honest, he wouldn't have believed a word out of its mouth if it wasn't a flying sentient waterdrop.

It talked about myths and legends, about heroes and monsters. Hero camps and monster hells. About lightning bolts and horses and shadows. It spoke about gods and their impact. The impact being, of course, his life.

"...and so Hades was angered by Poseidon's broken promise. He wasn't known for being a forgiving god. He sends his faithful servants and a small army of monsters after the child of his brother. And you know the rest."

"Who was the monster that took my mother from me?" Percy said angrily. Hades was for sure on his shit list but he wanted the name of the one who had done the deed.

Manaphy rolled its eyes. "I told you last night about the fate of your mother, now, didn't I? The Minotaur was about to do it before Hades intervened and transported her into his domain, The Underworld. When Poseidon went nuts in his search for you, he begrudgingly gave her back in order to not destroy your species. Your mother's fine. It has been about two months since your disappearance from that world. She moved out and started her own cafe in downtown New York. Last I heard, she was still searching for you endlessly. Nobody knows where you are."

Percy's mouth opened in shock for a second before closing forcefully.

"Two months?! What? How long was I out for?!"

"You were out for about a week. We managed to restore your body better than it ever was but it admittedly took a while." Manaphy said, ignoring his outburst. "And also time moves differently here. A month there equals roughly 5 days here for your mortal mind. As legendaries, time is limitless and easily controlled by us."

"Then how can I can get to my world again or why can't you bring my mother here?" Percy snarled. He was around here for about two days and he was already so sick of this place. But, if his mother was here and happy he guessed he could stand there a bit longer.

"You were brought to this world by Arceus' hasty decision to save you and spite the Fates in your world. He wishes to save you from a dark prophecy in your world. As of last night, he has found he needs certain conditions to send you back." Manaphy explained. "Also we can't have your mother here because she has no divine blood. Only beings who are strong enough to withstand the transportation process can be brought. Otherwise, she would be incinerated the second she was brought."

"What are those conditions?" Percy asked, ignoring the second answer. He already regretted asking about bringing his mother. The conditions were definitely not worth it.

"He needs you to spend a certain amount of time in our world." Manaphy said carefully. It spoke like it was talking to a cornered animal.

"How much? A week, a month, a few months? A year?" Percy shouted. He needed answers, now.

"As long as it takes you to become acquainted with Pokemon from different regions. We estimate it will take about 4 years for you to be sent back." That is if you still wish to after all that time Manaphy silently added in her mind. His fate truly was terrible.

Percy absorbed the information before going silent once again. He asked his question. "When will I be able to leave here?"

"You will need to know about Pokémon before being sent out. We will lend you different materials for you to learn enough about them. However, at the time speaking, humans in the Pokémon world are a bit more lacking in Pokémon studies. This is quickly changing at the moment because of some brilliant people in the industry but you will probably know more about Pokémon than a majority of the population."

Percy huffed. He was going to study even here? There really was no escape from reading.

Manaphy chuckled. "Believe me, don't worry. You will soon find studying about Pokémon is much different than studying about algebra."

Percy rolled his eyes. Every single one of his teachers had said something similar at the start of school. He doubted this would be much different.

"The studying will take about a week and then we will send you to the Kanto region, where you will start your very first journey."

Percy nodded and straightened his spine. A few years were nothing in the grand scene of things. It was almost like going to an abroad school. A thought occurred to him and as much as he hated to say it, he knew he needed it.

"Wait for a second! If I spent 4 years here then that means I will miss my last 2 middle school years and my freshmen and sophomore year! How will I be able to in my world if I don't even have a middle school degree!" No to mention how sad it would make his mother. He hated making her disappointed in him even if she never showed it.

Manaphy looked surprised for a second. "Don't worry about school. I don't really know that much about what goes on in our world's schools but we were going to give you an advantage in learning anyways. My fellow legendary, Uxie, has already decided so and is very eager to meet you. She is known as 'The Being Of Knowledge' who brought intelligence to humanity. I imagine she has already prepared your education."

"Woah, already? Don't you guys have anything better to do around here?" Percy asked.

"You are quite literally the most interesting thing to happen around here for quite a while." Manaphy replied somewhat dryly. It clapped. "Now enough with the questions. Let's get started!"

Percy came to realize some things very quickly.

Number one, Manaphy hadn't been lying when it had said Uxie was excited to meet him.

Uxie was indeed very hyped.

The sleepy looking legendary had acted like he was the most entertaining shit she had seen in literal years.

It had actually become kind of normal for Percy to get used to the appearance of these Pokémon. Well, not really but he didn't get too much distracted by it now. Where before, he had had a hard time focusing on what they were saying rather than what they were looking like (and he didn't mean it in the good way, unfortunately).

Anyways, after a very weird introduction; she had gotten to the point. His dyslexia and ADHD.

"Since I am responsible for the manifestation of intelligence in humanity, I can also kind of play with it." Had been her exact words.

So here he was. At a ridiculously big library. In front of a thick, dusty book feeling very nervous. Percy had always wanted to be able to read something without feeling like an idiot because he was reading slower than the rest of his peers. Who liked to bully him about it very much.

He took a deep breath and opened the book.

To his disappointment, he wasn't magically flying through the words. However, he also wasn't experiencing any dyslexic symptoms either.

After a chapter or two, he realized he was going faster. And after another five he was feeling like a superhuman.

The book had started out slow with typing advantages and disadvantages before going into the regions. Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, and Galar. A brief history of them and the most important people in them. Like the professors and the elite four.

Afterward, it evolved into basically a biology book. Precisely, a biology book on crack.

It had shown Grass types, Fire types, and Water types. Some example Pokémon and their habitats. It was all actually very interesting. Percy felt like a nerd, which was a first for him.

He closed the book and rubbed his slightly aching eyes. Percy laughed in disbelief. He was actually reading and enjoying it!

He opened his eyes and stretched. He looked at the clock and realized 5 hours had passed. How time flew!

Percy got up to get some water and eat some food. He was really thirsty now. He also didn't know where the kitchen was. Did godly creatures drink water and eat food? Well I drink do those things and I am half-godly by association, Percy supposed. Also, they are kind of powered-up animals, Percy guiltily added. Even if it is rude to think of them like that.

Shaking off his thoughts, he remembered he had a water dispenser and a mini-fridge in his room. He quickly made his way over there and out of the library.

Once he had drunk and eaten enough, he looked at the empty glass cup in his hand. He couldn't help but remember his father, or rather, just who his father was.

Your father was just inches away from making humanity go into an ice age, Manaphy had said.

His father was a god. A powerful god, at that. His mom's many myths flew through his head as he looked at the water droplets inside of the glass. Poseidon. Earthshaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses, The Sea God.

A trickle of a thought itched the back of his mind and he couldn't help but feel curious. After a bit of consideration, he decided to go with it.

So he gently closed his eyes and breathed, deep and even. Hoping that something would happen.

A strange clench in his stomach almost made him drop the glass in his hand. He slowly opened his eyes back again.

And there, defying the laws of physics, was a floating ball of water.

He shakily breathed out and just looked at the tiny ball. It bobbed worryingly in the air for a second before steadying in his focus. He focused, even more, ignoring the now slight burn in his stomach as he willed it to obey.

Just as he was about to let go, the thing suddenly separated into tiny little droplets again. Suspended in the air, they also formed a ball.

He willed them to go form together again and they did. An idea came to him. He was always a bit dramatic.

He yelled at the top of his lungs and made the ball go full speed at the walls in front of him. It splattered across the wall and once again got controlled by gravity.

"Oh, yeah!" Percy cheered. He was a bit tired but he was also grinning. He could work with this.

Sometime later, in front of the same book, in the same library, Percy found himself playing with water.

It was actually a bit dumb considering he was in a valuable library full of probably the secrets of the universe, but he couldn't help himself. His ADHD wasn't entirely gone.

Percy had to admit, it was helping him learn about both his powers and the Pokémon in the book.

Whenever he saw a Pokémon that captured his fancy, he would try to make it a water sculpture. The things were crude and ugly to look at. Percy didn't care. They were fun to do and were useful enough to keep doing.

Eventually, he found himself bored with that too. His sculptures always crumbled because he got tired and they still weren't all that good to look at.

That's when it occurred to him, could he possibly make it freeze? If he could freeze it, could he boil it? Control it when it becomes a mist? If he could control the mist, could he control the air?

His head spinning with curiosity, he decided to test it out.

He looked at his book and flipped the pages randomly until it landed on a Pokémon. A Pikachu.

After quickly skimming through the Pokémon's details (he would go over it thoroughly later, he promised himself) he once again tried to make one. Keyword: tried.

While it wasn't as bad as the first one he had made (a Pidgeot which had looked more like a really uneven knife than a badass bird) it still wasn't too good. Deciding he couldn't be too bothered, he tested out his hypotheses.

The results were... interesting.

He found he couldn't freeze all of it just yet. While some patches looked like soft ice, the others were slightly cold. He tried to get it even colder but managed to get a headache for his trouble. He quickly discarded the project for now and decided to go to bed.

The next day he felt much, much better than before.

He decided to dedicate himself to his studies entirely for the time being. His powers drained him out quickly and the timeline thing was making him a bit nervous about everything and his powers drained him out. He could train those once he actually got on with his journey.

Once he finished getting ready for the day he went straight to the library. If someone had told him he would go to libraries first thing in the morning even a week ago, he would have laughed in their faces. How times changed.

The corridor was void of life and he was able to make his way in without any interruptions. Only the library wasn't in its place.

No, when Percy opened the door he found himself face to face with a majestic sight.

The room was separated into three vastly different parts, the only thing the same in all of them was the fluffy clouds at the top. The room itself smelled like ozone and smoke. The one on the right was snowing lightly, it had a gentle coating of white snow on the ground and a few tropical-looking trees. It was separated from the next scene by a jagged lightning bolt symbol. The next was a bit more bitter to look at. It had charred black lines on the ground and yellow-looking wheat at the few patches that had enough life to grow. The clouds above looked grey and angry. It was separated from the final one by a beautiful glowing orange and red vine. It looked like a fire was constantly burning on it. The scene was much the same with actual flames decorating it. They strangely burned in the same place over and over again, never moving and devouring the rest of the room.

Percy quickly realized he was dealing with more legendary shenanigans and straight up ran. Or at least he tried to run.

Two cold talons gripped his shoulders in a bruising grip and he found himself airborne. He yelled in fear as the ground disappeared from view under him. He had always, always, always hated heights.

He was carried above the clouds and dropped on top of it. He screamed hoarser as he was being deposited but found out that the cloud was solid and not gas like he had thought it was. He rolled and gasped on top of it. Once he came to his senses he lifted his head and looked at the being responsible for his terror.

Rather, beings are responsible for it.

Standing in front of him were three birds, all drastically different from each other. One of them had light blue feathers and a long darker blue tail. It had an almost crown-shaped feather pattern at the top of its head and a big white belly. Its eyes looked over him in slight disinterest as it stood.

The one next to it was on bloody fire. Literally on fire. Its wings were a flaming mess and its head was burning at the top. The tail was directed downward for some reason but Percy could detect some flames on it either. The face had a long break and its eyes were slightly more interested, though it looked like it was quite angry at something.

The last one had a jagged look to it. It had a mainly yellow body and had black streaks here and there. Its beak was long like the flaming ones and it had a mane of jagged yellow strands. Its eyes were naturally angry looking but they were the friendliest looking out of the bunch, even if it still looked a bit disgruntled.

The air had an odd quantity to it, almost like it was holdings its breath. Does this have to happen every time I meet a legendary, Percy wondered. He would be fine if he never felt the sensation again.

Percy really was not feeling it.

He sighed. "What do you guys want from me?" He always was a bit blunter than most people.

The blue one (he should have started reading from the legendaries section he was such an idiot!) looked to be raising an eyebrow. If birds could raise eyebrows.

"How rude, but what can one expect from someone who come from that world." It spoke in disdain. Percy felt a slight hint of humor as he took in its words. It was the one who had yeeted him to the goddamn clouds! Did it want to speak about rudeness? He would show rudeness!

"Last time I checked budgies were smarter and kinder than this." He muttered lowly under his breath. It wasn't the best of comebacks but it would make due.

The dumb birds eyes flashed. "How dare you!" It gawked.

The fire one gave a squawk of a laugh. "Oh, maybe you are not as boring as I thought you would be, Perseus Jackson." The flames on its head rose higher.

"Enough, we have enough to do as we have, let's not waste any more time." The yellow one said. Its big sharp talons carried it forward until it was at the front of the bird trio.

"Perseus, I believe you don't quite know our names. Let's remedy that. I am the legendary Pokémon Zapdos, the burning one is Moltres and the final one of us is Articuno. We are Kanto's legendary trio. We individually control thunder, flames, and ice." It spoke.

"Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno... Wait a minute! Uno, dos, tres; I know enough Spanish to realize that! Who named you guys?" Percy asked, genuinely curious. He wondered if they saw the three birds go and decided to number them accordingly or did they name them depending on how much they liked them?

His ADHD bubbled to the surface.

Zapdos ignored his questioning. "We are here to help you further your abilities and ask a favor from you. Since you seem like you haven't learned about the legendaries quite yet, I will explain some to you." It spoke.

"Let us speak about history then. First, you have to know that Articuno's and Moltres' combined powers of ice and fire are the source and cradle of the oceans. They were the ones who made the world what it is. Adding my electric energy created the currents and the streams, which is why all three of us are closely bound to the guardian of the ocean, Lugia." Zapdos explained.

"Unfortunately for us, Lugia has not been seen for some time. We would like you to find Lugia and return him to the place we are currently in, for he has been dearly missed." Zapdos said in a sad tone. The bird really seemed like it was missing this Lugia guy. Percy couldn't help but feel a little sympathy for the birds. He too had someone he was missing.

Zapdos composed itself. "We are desperate for him Perseus, we would normally never ask this of someone. This is why we would like to bless you to aid you in your quest. While we are nowhere like we were in our prime, we still can aid you." Before Percy could respond, Zapdos did something very strange. It flew up for a second with a powerful jump of its legs. The other two, seeing this, jumped alongside.

They flew up in the skies and Percy had to admit it was beautiful to watch them. They seemed to be in tandem with each other and had perfect coordination.

When they reached the middle of the room they opened their beaks and a strangely melodic song took over the room. It was one of the greatest sounds Percy had heard in his short life. He unconsciously swayed with it.

Just when it seemed like it would never end, the room began shaking.

Percy panicked for a second before realizing he was on a damn cloud. He also realized it was necessary for him to be brought up to the skies.

When the minor earthquake stopped, Percy couldn't help himself from leaning over the edge of the cloud. What he saw made him gape for a second.

Where the ground had been decorated with various elements and trees, it was now all gone. In its place was a smooth blue ocean, like the one usually seen on a calm summer evening. Percy felt a slight pang in his chest before shaking it off. He loved the seas and oceans so much.

A different set of talons gripped his shoulder this time and carried him gently to a small island in the middle. It deposited him and Percy felt his feet touch the slightly wet dirt. He could have kissed it.

The bird trio landed on a slight hill in front of him. They silently watched him with guarded eyes as he looked around.

He realized there was an almost pulpit-like shape just a few meters ahead of him. He was about to go and check it out before he caught himself.

"What exactly do I get from helping you?" Percy asked suspiciously. While he felt sympathy for them he was still on his own quest.

Moltres huffed. "If you go and see what we have, we could explain it to you." It said.

Percy accepted the vague answer and went to go check it out. At the top of the raised shape were three things. One of them was a black band with a rainbow crystal. The other one was a small silver trident. The last one was a simple pen.

He raised an eyebrow at the items and silently urged them to speak.

This time Articuno spoke. "The band is a thing we call Mega Ring." It explained. "Once certain Pokémon have a deep bond with their trainers, they can achieve an ultimate form. We call this Mega Evolution." It said.

"The stone on it, the Key Stone, is one of the two important items in Mega Evolution. The other stone, a Mega Stone, will depend on the Pokémon and will have to be searched for." It said.

Moltres took over. "The trident is an item we made for you. It contains a piece of our essence and will help you strengthen your powers easier." It said solemnly. "The band has a place where you can fit the trident in. This way, it will stay with you as long as you wear the band." It ended. Percy checked the band and found that there was indeed an space made for a forked shape. He couldn't help but feel a bit giddy about everything, now.

Zapdos spoke last. "I am sure the pen might be a bit familiar to you." Not giving Percy a chance to examine the pen more closely, it continued. "It was the pen your teacher was supposed to give to you. We believe it was first used against your other teacher." Percy felt realization dawn on him as his hands flew to the pen.

He quickly uncapped it and watched in wonder as it grew to be a leafy sword. His hands brushed over the pommel and he noticed an engraving. When he looked he saw there was a Greek symbol. Anaklusmos, it read. Riptide, he instantly translated.

He started grinning. He had really seen it! He knew he had! His entire class at the time might not remember it but he knew what he had seen. He wasn't insane. Yet, he added ruefully in his head.

"The steel is steel called Celestial Bronze. It is divine steel meant only to be effective against monsters and gods. It will harmlessly pass through any being without godly blood in them. It is also your birthright that was supposed to be a gift from your father. Treasure it well and keep your skills sharp."

"The blade itself also has a dark and ancient history. It has passed through hero to hero, generation to generation to get to you." Zapdos finished.

Percy looked at everything in awe. This was a hefty gift to a kid who had grown up in downtown New York with cheap hand-me-downs and second-hand books. He promised himself that he would never take them for granted of them.

After strapping in the Band on his wrist (it fit snugly around it, just the right size) he carefully inserted the trident at the back. He put the pen in his pocket and looked at the beings again.

"Know that we only want Lugia here and that your grateful words don't mean anything." Moltres said. Despite the words being harsh, it didn't seem like the being was trying to be offensive. Percy didn't really care.

"Now go young Percy Jackson and know that we are watching over you." Zapdos thundered. Percy felt the room shake again and fell to the ground. When it stopped he was alone and the room was back to how it was.

He shook his head and quickly exited the room, intent on going to his own room to examine the items even more closely. Just then it occurred to him that the library was not in his usual place. He hurried back to the legendary birds room and sheepishly opened the door again.

This time the now-familiar library greeted him once more. Shaking his head once again, he closed the room and went on his way. He had a lot to do.
