Yale, narrating... "I've been thinking about the eye stalks' origins that we've only loosely discussed amongst ourselves. I think it matters not how they were made and by whom. What matters, is that they continue into the future. They are the bridge between our Earthly metabolism and G889's. I'm wondering if we can use that human seeking instinct they have, to locate the penal colony's children."
John Danziger, narrating... "I think Yale's on to something. Yep, I like his idea. Vegetable blood hounds."
Seth, narrating... "I don't know these people who've rescued me. They're marooners. And yet, I still feel beholdened to them. That's ...odd. Yes, I knew their Commander O'Neill. And he was probably why I feel this way. He was the father figure I never had. But other than that... why do I want them all to like me so badly? We've very little in common."
True Danziger, narrating... "I'm still mad. I know I shouldn't be, but Seth is the son of the sociopath who stalked me, regardless of how Gaal Junior behaves now. How do I know whether or not he's been taught a few things, by dear old dad, to continue the trend? It usually takes two to mastermind."
Uly Adair, narrating... "She's still there. My brain's still big. But why won't she show herself? The Balancer has been made one of us by the Mother, to be our guide, and my deity. If the Terrians want me to be their Prince, I have to know what faith and country I've been asked to rule, right?"
Morgan Martin, narrating... "Religion. The bane of our civilization. I fled Earth, but that poison's still following me, like the Phage. I thought I got my wife free of that kind of fanaticism. What culture name do the Terrians have for themselves? Rock Bonders? Dirt Worshippers? I think Eden Advance has got it all wrong calling ourselves pioneers. We're more like unwilling, raging conquerors." ::Mental chuckle:: "The business world calls people like this, pawns. I've been planning on sparing Bess this process, for years. She has a dream of becoming a fabled farm girl, and I'll be hog tied and hobbled first, before I give up on granting her, her dearest wish."
Devon Adair, narrating... "One tent, one cot, one stove, eight canteens, one diaglove, and miscellaneous pocket pack. Not much left to survive on here. The rest of our stuff's on the middle moon. Thank G*d, we still have Zero. The Balancer thinks he's a living being. I wonder if her attraction to his Earth made machina will bring her back. We can only try."
Dr. Julia Heller, narrating... "I don't know if I should tell them. I only have twenty six eye stalks left in my pack of dirt. That's... about two days worth of food left for everybody. Even less if we add in Seth. We have to find the Balancer soon, or we're going to fall right back into that starvation mode we just climbed out of during the bio-implant black out week."
Cameron, narrating... "I'm still itching! Not my skin, my sense of restlessness, due to seriously flawed inaction! Am I the only one who obeys common sense?! We've got to hurry. We can't survive where we are with only water mist to drink. Morals aside, I think we should take down a few more Grendlers and start roasting some steaks. We're gonna need em."
