As a series of footsteps began to make their way towards him, Dean strained his neck in efforts to see who it was. Relief flooded him as the figure of his 6'4 brother came into view. Thank god you're okay Sam.
As Sam untied one of the ropes and moved downwards to untie Dean's leg, Dean used his now free hand to untie his other hand. Now beginning to feel the prickles of exhaustion and pain, Sam let himself stay crouched down, trying to breathe calmly. It wasn't long before familiar hands gripped his shoulders and helped him stand. Staring into his brother's eyes, Dean let his eyes travel across Sam's face, taking in the running trickles of blood.
"Son of a bitch.." He muttered, letting go of Sam and walking towards the room in which Gordon lay. Dean had every intention of giving the hunter (if you could even call him that) a taste of his own medicine, but was stopped in his tracks by the soft voice of his brother.
"Dean, no." Sam spoke, exhaustion masking his tone. It was the weariness in his brother's voice that caused hatred towards Gordon to rise further. He was the one that did this to his brother, no way was he going to let him off easy.
"I let him live once, I'm not making the same mistake twice."
"Trust me, Gordon's taken care of."
Dean hesitated, he didn't know what Sam meant by that, but figured it'd be best to ask him later, when they were miles away from Gordon.
The look they shared spoke volumes, as Dean nodded at Sam's request.
Dean spared a glance behind him, as if expecting Gordon to show up guns blazing. His thoughts were disrupted however, by a tug from his denim jacket.
"Come on." Sam breathed out, urging his brother away from the room.
The chill night air greeted them as they finally exited the broken down shack. Sam was grateful to be with his brother again, and vice versa.
"Dean-" Sam started, but was unfortunately interrupted by a deafening series of gunshots.
Automatically sprinting, they both crossed a bend of wild plants and jumped into the shallow dip, with small bushes as their only cover.
"You call this taken care of?!"
Dean knew he should have trusted his instincts, hell if only Sam wasn't such a softy when it came to this sort of stuff.
"Just wait.."
Both brothers peered through the clear gaps in the leaves as Gordon's figure continued to approach them.
"What exactly are we waiting for?" Dean pressed on impatiently.
Sam stayed silent for a few seconds, shit…
"I don't think-"
"No time now Sammy, when I say run, we run. We have to put a hell of a distance between us and the devil."
Sam nodded his understanding, as different confused thoughts rushed through his head.
They should be here by now. Where the hell are they?! The one time we need the cops.
"Damn it, okay.. Now!" Dean whispered loudly, alerting Sam from his muddled thoughts.
Following in suit of his brother, Sam rose to his feet and began to quickly follow his brother.
It reminded Sam of the races he and Dean used to compete against each other as kids, with Dean always coming out on top, accompanied with Sam plastering on his normal 'bitch face' in his yet again failure to beat his older brother.
Letting the memories slide, he refocused on reality, and noticed his brother slightly ahead of him, aiming toward the depths of the woods.
Sneaking a glance behind, he saw no sight of Gordon, which was surprising but relieving.
Dean knew Sam couldn't run as fast as possible due to his minor injuries, but that's all that they were… minor. Knowing the woods were probably the best cover they could get for miles, that's where he decided would be the most convenient place to hide out, as well as get some needed rest, especially for Sam.
The woods were approaching now, and Dean felt a sort of comfort at that, knowing it would take Gordon some time to locate them in the midst of all the trees.
What pressed on his mind however, was how Sam was. Glancing behind, his eyes met his brothers, but another sight behind caused his heart to stop momentarily.
"SAM WATCH OUT"
Uh oh... it's not looking good for the brothers. And yes, to those of you who noticed the very obvious twist, the police didn't arrive for Sam and Dean, yikes; let's see how that manages to turn out!
Anyways, hope you guys have a great day, and thank you for reading, hope you enjoyed! :)
